Wmv files a DVD digital copy

Can Quick time pro play and store ie "digitalcopy I own" which has Wmv file film format.

I have IMAC with leopard--it will not run on standard quicktime player

QuickTime Player Pro upgrade doesn't add any additional playback features not found in the free version.
QuickTime Player doesn't play WMP formats without third party software help (http://flip4mac.com).
QuickTime Player doesn't play MPEG-2 formats (standard of DVD's) without additional software help.
Try Flip4Mac. If that doesn't allow playback then there is little you can do with the file on a Mac.

  • How do I put my wmv files to DVD so I can watch them?

Ok, how do I put my wmv files on DVD so I can watch them?
Would I have to convert it to an mpeg file ? If I do, what are good freeware software to use? Thanks

You could try the free ffmpegX (http://ffmpegx.com/index.html), which is a highly flexible video converter/encoder (and I believe does WMV as well)... it does require the installation of some UNIX components, however I think this is done through the self-installer.

  • Using a .WMV file in DVD Studio Pro

    Hello All,
I'm so dangerously close to having this whole thing down, that the challenges are becoming excrutiatingly painful.
    I've completed my edit.
I've exported my FCP edit to Quicktime.
    I've downloaded Flip4Mac
I've exported a version of the FCP to a WMV file format.
Now I want to import both assets (QT and WMV) to DVD Studio Pro. I'm trying to make it so there are two seperate versions on the DVD.
As I attempt to link a button to the WMV file, I get the rainbow wheel turning, and it never stops.
So, I guess there are a few questions:
    1. How can I force the rainbow wheel to quit. Until now, I've just shutoff the computer (not a good idea).
    2. Is it possible to combine the QT and WMV files on the same DVD?
    3. Am I totally confused?
    Thanks.
    DG

    Hi
She can't play it on her PC, nor can I at home.
Ussually it's a DVD player software matter. Windows Media Player is not intended for DVD playing. Did you use it when it failed? Try with the free and cross plataform VLC Player.

  • WMV files to DVD

I am trying to get downloaded wmv files into a playable dvd using a G5. I have been using a program called "Snapz" which records the the windows media player playing the wmv file. It then converts the file to a DV quicktime file which I import into imovie and then burn a dvd from there. I can do it but the resulting quality is pretty bad. Does anyone have any other suggestions on how I could possible get better results? Perhaps using a different program other than Snapz? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Using imovie 4, Quicktime7.03, OSX 10.3.9.

There is a program... I forget what it's called... hang on...
go to the downloads/macosx/video section of apple's site and type in wmv in the search window... or just type that in the search window and select "video" as the section you want to search... either way works... you'll get this link:
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/video/flip4macwmvstudiopro.html
the maker's website address can be found in the top right corner beside "Company" and if you click on it you will get this link:
    http://www.telestream.net/
and if you read down the products list it'll show "macintosh media tools" and a link to "Flip4Mac"
    http://www.telestream.net/products/flip4mac.htm
and the software really works... there are trial versions or both the lower end "quicktime plugin" that will allow playing wmv on quicktime and the more robust one for exporting and converting.
i've tried the "trial" version and months later many wmv files will still play in quicktime and i've even converted a few in compressor... but for some reason some wmv's don't... so somehow it's still working away long after the trial.
    anyway, hope that helps

  • DVD Digital Copy Error

I purchased the new Family Guy "Blue Harvest" DVD this morning, and it has the FOX DIGITAL COP disc included with it, and it allows to transfer a copy to iTunes now (unlike 'Live Free or Die Hard' that only had the Windows Media option).
When i open iTunes & click on the dick on the left, I get the following error: "iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. An unknown error occured (11556). Make sure your network connection is active & try again."
I am able to open the iTunes Store with no problems & I can connect to the net with no problems. I made sure that iTunes was allowed in my firewall & in my router settings. I restarted my computer a couple of times, and yet it still doesn't work.
Anyone else have problems like this? Or know how to resolve this issue?
    Thanks,
    X

I tried this on two separate machines several times and got the exact same error.
I am really disappointed that it seems that this feature was not quite rolled out in time since the physical+digital copy feature WAS a deciding factor in buying Blue Harvest.

  • DVD digital copy vs. iTunes store purchase

Is the Digital Copy on a DVD the same as buying the movie on the iTunes Store?  Is it HD for an Apple TV? Does it have the same bonus features?

There are two types of Digital Copies:
Some DVDs or Blu Rays include a Digital Copy disc and redemption code. Movies that include a separate Digital Copy disc require this disc to be inserted into your CD or DVD drive before you can redeem your Digital Copy code. Codes can be redeemed multiple times as long as you are using the same Apple ID account used for the original redemption.
Other DVDs and Blu Rays only include a Digital Copy redemption code and do not require a Digital Copy disc to redeem your Digital Copy code. These Digital Copy codes can be redeemed only once.
See this article for some tips about digital copies: Transferring or downloading an iTunes Digital Copy, http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1539

  • Convert & burn .avi & .wmv files to DVD?

As a relative Mac newbie, I would like to know how to convert .avi & .wmv files that are on my hard drive to DVD-burnable format. I generally use Toast Titanium 6.0.7 for all disc burning. An acquaintance suggested that I use iMovie for this purpose, but -- excuse my ignorance -- how exactly and in a simple way do I do it (go from having .avi and/or .wmv files on my hard drive to being able to actually and successfully burn them to DVD)?
Trying to add the files to Toast's "DVD Video" pre-DVD-burn setting just brings up black screen stills to represent the file, leading me to believe there is a problem, because other video files I've burned in the past have loaded into Toast with a video still frame grab before burning.
Windows seems to be able to perform this function easily, but could anyone help with simple, direct info on how to do it with Mac Tiger?..
Is this all a codec issue? If so, why should it be (on an otherwise tech-savvy and adaptable Apple OS) and how do I rectify it in a straightforward and simple manner?
I should add that I can view .avi files on my Mac by using VLC Media Player, and the .wmv files by using Windows Media Player for Mac, but I want to be able to convert these files to DVD-burnable format, so I can view them on a television set-top DVD player...
Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Here's a couple more suggestions that I use .Not so elegent but they work.
    1. I use a VGA to TV converter box which plugs in to the VGA connection on the computer & gives S video or composite out & then plugin to the dv in from the camera. Then import to imovie for any editing & then burn away !Quick & dirty & it works eveytime. Of course you must have a vga connection at the back of your computer.
    2. On the PC side I use Cyberlink Power Director. This accepts .wmv files & will convert to other formats & also send to mini dv camera tape if I want to burn to standalone DVD burner.

  • DVD Digital Copy not working on iTunes

ok so i bought Wall-E the movie in DVD form, it came with a digital copy that i could download on iTunes and watch, i registered and everything and it downloaded, but when i click on the video on iTunes to watch it, it just plays a grey screen where the movie is suppose to be playing, what am i doing wrong?

I found this on another board:
"Okay, after messing around for 10 minutes, I just ....., went into iTunes, selected the disk in the "Devices" link in the left-side menu bar, and entered the code there... and voilà, it works. The error is apparently in the Autoplay software that is supposed to go launch iTunes."

  • Iron Man 2 digital copy problem

I just purchased Iron Man 2 Blu-Ray with digital copy. Put the digital copy disk in my iMac. When prompted by iTunes I entered the code from the insert.
"This code has already been used. Each code may be used only once."
I've never had a problem with a digital copy import before. Is this a common problem? And who do I have to contact to try and prove that I just bought the disk and haven't used the code before?

I got this answer on line
    Hello,
If the launcher isn’t working properly for you, you can also copy the movie files directly from the DVD. They are located in the WMV folder on the Digital Copy disc. Double-clicking on the either file should launch a window to enter your authorization code, or to begin playback of the movie if you have already successfully entered it. You can also drag and drop the files to your hard disk in your folder of choice after you successfully authenticate them. They should play without needing the disc.
    Thanks!

  • Unable to download Digital Copy of movies to my Itunes

I am so frustrated I could throw my laptop against the wall. I have been trying to download movies to my Itunes that I rightfully paid for through the Blu-Ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack. After putting in the DVD for the digital copy in the dvd drive, I fire up Itunes. The next thing I do is select the movie in the iTunes DVD slot and I put the correct passcode into the Itunes authorization key area. The entire movie downloads and after downloading, there is a pause while processing. I get the error that states I do not have authorization to the file. Check the disc for dust and reinsert and try again. In the itunes download area, I have error zero KB of 1.66gb - stopped (err = -5000)

Im not sure how much data is taken from the disc, Im guessing the "download" is essentially a disc upload? or is it taken strictly from the iTunes store? Sorry Im not an expert on the digital copy process yet.
However, if it is the disc, its maybe possible you just have a defective disc which contains your digital copy.
If you just recently bought it, you can go back to where you bought it from and exchange it for a new copy. If that doesnt work then maybe you'll have to try to contact iTunes Support. http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html

  • Skyfall Digital Copy is not 1080P?

I recently purchased the Blu-Ray | DVD | Digital Copy of Skyfall.  Upon transferring the Digital Copy through iTunes, I noticed the file size is 2.03 GB, Video Dimensions: 853x354.
The size of the download on the iTunes store for HD is 5.38 GB (1080p HD)
My question is, what am I getting with the Digital Copy if not 1080p?

I might be mistaken - this might not apply to *all* movies. I recently purchased a Blu-ray edition of Looper, and the download for that is 4.39GB; very close to the claimed '4.71 GB 1080P' version on the iTunes Store. The download also has the HD tag.
So I suppose it varies by studio / movie too?

  • Help with Disney Parks Digital Copy

I just got The Secrets , Stories, and Magic Behind the Scenes Disney Parks on Blu-Ray, DVD, Digital Copy the other day and when I try to get the copy on Itunes a message comes up saying it can't be played on my Ipod Touch and it's the right format, can someone help me ?

After you place it in your iTunes movie library there is a Convert to iPod and iPhone Version option in the Advanced tab of iTunes than may work.

  • I have a digital copy blu ray and it says my code is not valid?

There is no alternatives to click and get it. I bought the blu ray a while ago but just got my mac and want it on the cloud. It is the dark knight DVD digital copy. Anyone have a similar issue and resolve it. I put the code in exactly like it is written in the case.

Thanks hatstead  - I'd rather not change my ID email as we vowed to stop having 10s of different emails and passwords, but keep just 2 or 3 - and (idiotically) they are all @ this domain.
But maybe I'll have to set up a gmail one for this. I'd rather not use personal as it's a company purchase.
Is there a way of just registering a product from within my Apple ID, online?
    Thanks!
