WMV player for Yosemite

I am unable to view WMV attachments on older emails. Had Flip4Mac, but it is outdated for Yosemite. Installed another version (free) and also VLC but neither worked. Any suggestions?

It's not the "player" itself.
The N96 and N78 have the WMV DECODER.
So what you really need is not the Player but the DECODER. But this is also not available and I don't think it will be made available.

You won't find any player for another OS than Windows that will play all of these files correctly especially if they are copy protected or have any similar feature.
(This is very bad because I cannot play my copy-protected WMA music files :-( )
However the "MPlayer" program from www.mplayerhq.hu allows playback of many video formats (WMV is claimed to be supported, too) - I did not test this.
The player supports different OSs (Solaris, too) but binaries only come for Windows, Linux and MacOS. You'll have to re-compile the program from the sources.
and i think that if u can t see porn videos on computer then its wastage of resourcesA cheap video recorder costs about Eur 30 and a computer at least Eur 300. Buy a video recorder instead of a computer!

Question about Media Player for Mac??

I'm a new guy for mac. I met a problem, my windows mediaplayer cant use yesterday. When I click the icon, it displayed a error message. When I clicked the send roport button, the mediaplayer will shut down automaticlly.
And how to make safari to play some online *.wmv files???
I found a little bit difficult to use this Mac OS X. Lots of question, need you help.

Making Windows Media Player my default player for WMV files

I installed Flip4Mac and set it as my default player for WMV files. Now when I open large WMV files, I have to wait 10-20 seconds for them to load. I want to go back to Windows Media Player as the default player for all my WMV files - how do I do that? Thanks in advance!

Single click on a .wmv file and open the Get Info window.
Change the "Open with:" app and then click the "Change All..." button.

Alternative to Adobe Flash Player for Macs running Yosemite

Is there a reliable and secure alternative to Adobe Flash Player for Macs running Yosemite? I keep getting websites telling me that I can see a video because my Flash Player needs to be updated. But I haven't wanted to install it as I've heard negative things about it and Macs. Is there an alternative to Flash Player? And if so, what is it and where do I find it?

Being that Flash is very insecure, I've completely removed it from my MacBook Pro. The best alternative is to uninstall Flash from your system and download Google Chrome as it has Flash build into it and you're not vulnerable unless you're browsing in Chrome. If Safari is your main browser, as mine is, then you need to open Safari Preferences, go to Advanced and click the checkbox for 'Show Develop menu in menu bar'. Once you've done this, the Develop menu bar menu shows up and you can click it and choose 'Open Page With' and choose Chrome. It is a bit cumbersome, but it removes the vulnerability when browsing in Safari as many sites are now using HTML5. Hope this help.

All formats not possible you would require a very large number of codecs .
Mpeg has many formats and AVI is only a container not a format .

1. System Preferences > Flash Player > Advanced > Delete All
     Press the "Delete All" button.
     Install Adobe Flash Player.

   Download it first.
   The next step is important.
   Click Safari in the menubar and select “Quit Safari”.
   If it doesn’t quit, Force Quit it.
   Press command + option + esc keys together at the same time. Wait.
   When Force Quit window appears, select the application if not already.
   Press Force Quit button at the bottom of the window. Wait.
   Application will quit.
    Follow the prompts and install it.
    Restart computer. Relaunch Safari.
2. Allow Plug-ins
    Safari > Preferences > Security
    Internet Plug-ins > "Allow plug-ins"

Questions on Flip4Mac and MS Windows Media player for Mac

If one installs "flip4mac" sofware, the plugin is installed. Will there be a icon or an application file for this software and an uninstaller file in the application folder? Do I have to activate the plugin before I use the web site to play the "wma" or "wmv" files? or it is not necessary to do that once it is installed? To uninstall, do I activate the "uninstall" file or the icon in the application folder?
As per Dave, in the Maxfixit, he says he uninstalled and went back to using media player. Does the Microsoft WM player handle DRM files to play? If so why Craig is saying that Flip4Mac is a "MUST HAVE"? Why not install the Microsoft WM player instead of Flip4Mac?
If one wants to install Microsoft WM player, what is latest version available for Mac? and where can I get it from and install it? MS WM player for Mac ver 9 comes in .bin or .hqt formats not .dmg format. Does the .bin format be installed by doule clicking on the file? or you need "stuffit" prog to expand and install the same?

A Flip4Mac application folder is created in the Applications folder. An uninstaller is included in the folder along with the Flip4Mac player application.
Flip4Mac currently does not play files that are protected by the MS DRM. However, if you use WMP on an Intel Mac you will have to run the browser in Rosetta because the WMP browser plug-in is not a universal binary. I'm not sure that the Mac version of WMP will play DRM protected files.
Yes, Stuffit is required to unpack the archive. You can download Stuffit Expander from www.versiontracker.com or www.macupdate.com or www.allume.com.

Adobe Flash Player and Yosemite

Since upgrading to Yosemite, I can't seem to play Windows streaming video in Safari. Instead, the video goes black and I get the following error message:
"The F4M document contains errors. Error parsing f4m file"
Does anyone know of a way to fix or work around this so that streaming videos can be played directly in Safari?

The only way you could ever have played those streams in Safari was by installing third-party software, such as "Flip4Mac." Apparently the software is incompatible with Yosemite. I suggest you get rid of it and instead use this:

I am having N79, in this only .flv, .wmv, .3gp and .mp4 video files can be played.
I cannot play .avi, mpg and .dat files using it.

Flip4Mac WMV Player Pro

I am having all sorts of trouble trying to view window media videos from my university. I have downloaded Flip4Mac WMV player pro and I still can't watch the video. It is rather urgent as I need to do it for an exam at the end of this week. Can anyone help me please?

The videos can not be saved, they are automatically opening in Quicktime. I open them from a webpage. Somehow I need to get quicktime 7 to be the default program. Any suggestions?

Move Media Player for Mac

I want to be able to watch full TV episodes at ABC.com, but it keeps telling me I need to install the Move Media Player.
I follow the instructions they have for Mac users, and click the "Install Now" button. I allow my computer to trust the website, and when the loading is complete, nothing happens.
I've tried to download this several different ways.
Is it even possible to download the Move Player onto a Mac?

I went to ABC.com and everything worked fine, although as I am not in US I could not watch full episodes, just trailers etc, which all worked well.
I don't know 'Move Media Player' (spelling?) but:
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, QT 7.3 and OS 10.4.11. (If you are running Leopard, ensure that all plug-ins have been updated for OS 10.5)
Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack

Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
(You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS.)
In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2007-009.1.1, which also deals with the Quicktime/Flash issues you may have experienced, such as the '?'. What happened was that both Quicktime as well as Adobe FlashPlayer tried to play the Flash video at the same time. This no longer happens. (N.B. Security Update 2007-009 1.1 requires both a restart and a permission repair.)
If you get problems with viewing video on a website try moving this file to your Desktop:
Hard drive/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
and then restarting Safari. If all now works, you can trash that file.
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

Button in Swf triggest stream video in embedded WMV player

Hey guys I have a SWF video menu basicially I have 12 buttons
and I need each button when clicked to play a file in the embeded
WMV player in dreamweaver.
Ive tried a ton of things but cant figure it out.

It's glad to hear that your are using configurator. I'm not very sure I understand your problem. But I think you may be interested with this.
I'd created a patch for Configurator 2.0, which added a slider bar for VideoPlayer, then you can drag the slider to jump in the video. See the screen shot.
The patch file is attached in this post as a picture file.
If you want apply it, please download it, and rename to "PS12Template.swf".
And go to your configurator 2.0 panel folder. It should be "c:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5\Plug-ins\Panels\<Your Panel Name>\content\".
And use "PS12Template.swf" to replace your "<Your Panel Name>".swf.
Then restart photoshop.
