Won't boot up at all

My Blackberry PlayBook (2 month old) turned off due to low battery, I tryed to recharge it 3 days later, the only thing it did was the red dot flashing for about 10 sec. and afterwards nothing.
So I tryed to charge it over USB, first the Blackberry desktop software recognized it, but only as long as the red dot flashed as soon as it turned off it sayed disconected.
ATM I don't see any way of turning the davice back on... I even tryed some "press volume and then turn it on" nothing of this (and I tryed all of them) did anything!
So what to do now? Any further suggestions or should I send it somewhere?
Solved!

How long did you leave it with the wall charger? And forget USB for charging.

  • IPhone 2g won't boot up AT ALL ?!

I was going to charge my iphone on the dock, when i put it in the dock, suddenly, the screen goes all black. I hit the sleep button to boot it, but it won't boot. I tried the home button and the sleep button wont work. So went to apple.com for support, and they said to hold on the home button, while holding you add the usb cable to the iphone and then iTunes will recognize it. So i tried what apple.com told me.. but the iphone won't boot up at all! Not even a apple logo shows on the screen.. HELP PLEASE?

There are two thing you can try to solve this:
    =================================
First you can try to do this: Reset Apple Finder
    =================================
    - shut down your Mac
    - start it again with holding down the shift key (OSX will start in "save mode")
    - go to this folder: Macintosh HD/Users/___/Library/Preferences
*Macintosh HD is the name off the HD, can be different on you Mac.
*___ is your own user name
    - search for this file and delete it: com.apple.finder.plist
*By deleting the file you will reset the finder settings, this will solve the problem. There won't change anything for you after deleting the file. This file contains only settings the system made by it self. But now your Mac will start properly again and make a new com.apple.finder.plist file
Now restart you iMac without holding the shift key, so just a normal start-up. Now Your Mac should start normal again!
    =================================
If this did not work, you can try this: Repair the Disk Permissions:
    =================================
    -Search your installation DVD's.
-Insert the disc 1 and sthut down your Mac
-Start your Mac again while holding down the C key
-Now your Mac should boot from the CD, this can take some time.
-After a while you will see a installation screen where you can chose a language.
    -Chose English and continue.
-Then click some time's next and agree with the "Software Agreement".
    -Open Disk Utility.
You can find it on top in menu Utilities > Open Disk Utility.
-Select your hard disk in the list of disks and volumes on the left side
-Go to the First Aid (tab somewhere on the right).
-Click the button to verify the permissions.
-Then Click the button to repair the permissions.
-Exit the Disk Utility and the installer.
Last thing you can do now is hoping your mac will start fine.
Hopefully this is helpfull or solved your problem.

  • My iMac (OS X) won't boot up. All I get is a blank screen with a blinking question mark (?). I've tried resetting the PRAM, but that doesn't help. What do I do?

My iMac won't boot up. I get only a blank screen w/question mark (?). I tried resetting he pram, but that didn't help. What do I do?

Thanks.  Did a safe boot, repaired disk permissions, and took your advice on the combo update.
Running perfectly fine now, if not slightly faster.
For the benefit of others this link: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570 will get you to the Apple Support article that covers safe boot and parameter reset in  OS 10.4, 10.5, 10.6.

  • MacBook Air won't boot up and all I get is a folder with a question mark

My 2012 MacBook Air running mountain lion won't boot up, all I get is a grey screen and then a folder icon with a question mark in it. What can I do?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
It's possible that your hard drive has stopped working. Do you remember what OS X version you were using?
If your Mac came with DVDs, insert the Mac OS X Install Disc 1 and hold the C key while your Mac is starting to start from the DVD. Then, choose your language, and go to the Utilities menu (on the menu bar) > Disk Utility. After that, choose "Macintosh HD" in the sidebar and repair the drive. If it couldn't be repaired, you need a new hard drive, and you can do it yourself if you want. If you don't want, take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller.
If your Mac didn't come with DVDs, follow the same steps but holding Command, Option (Alt) and R keys while your computer is starting

  • Equium A60 won't boot up at all

My Equium laptop A60 asked me to uninstall Norton Antivirus because of as problem with it. On the restart, the computer would not boot up at all. I am using Windows XP and no BIOS is available when I turn the computer on and the computer just has a blank screen. Cannot get into safe mode at all. Can anyone help or offer advice?

    Hi
    That sounds not good.
Did you try to boot up from the recovery CD?
    Check it.
But if you cannot enter the BIOS or don't see anything on the display so I assume it could be a hardware fault.
In this case I don't think that you can solve this problem without any help.
Please ask the Toshiba service partner in your country for the advice.

  • Installed the latest Java update today on my older iMac and now it won't boot up at all. 2007 model worked fine this morning, now disk first aid say boot blocks f'ed.

I am using an older mid 2007 imac 24 inch running snow leopard 10.6.8
I normally accept software update recs, and today when installing the security update to java, all went fine till restart, when I got the universal "NO" sign, the circle with the line through it and just spinning gray bars underneath.
Booted from system disks, ran first aid, said the boot block partitions or something like that needed updating but disk appears to be ok. Still not working.
Do you think Alsoft Disk Warrior will fix? I am running off external back up drive now.
Thanks for any help or advice. Apple as usual is as useless as tits on a bull, or a screen door on a submarine, pick your simile...

If your backup's up to date it might be less hassle to erase the internal and clone back from the backup. Don't allow the update next time it appears - you're not the only one having problems it would seem.
Note; the message "updating boot partitions" is a standard message that appears after a repair run. It won't go away and should be ignored.
Provided the message "The volume Macintosh HD Seems to be OK" in green has appeared, your disc fle system is fine.

  • N97 Charging -- Now Won't boot up. [All in a Nig...

Hey guys. Sorry to bring up an old thread. I was charging my phone last night as I went to bed. Woke up in the middle of the night as we do, looked at my phone (to see the time) and I saw that the phone was stuck on the Nokia flash screen (white screen with NOKIA logo). It would not turn on. I kept taking out the battery, putting it back in... Nothing!
So just now I did my 10000th hard reset and now phone works.
Guys, my question is why would the phone reboot itself (apart from RAM issues) and then not turn on again?
I am sick and tired of this phone. It requires 24/7 care like a newborn baby to make sure it works and does not reboot itself or that an application can run (E.g. close others apps to conserve RAM). This isn't kool anymore. It's somewhat  boring!

    Any ideas?

    Hi,
Perhaps the new power supply is bad or too big.  What is the wattage size of the new power supply?
Did you try re-installing the old power supply?

  • Help!! My Mac won't boot up!!

    Hi,
I have a Dual 2.5 ghz G5 w/5 gb of RAM. I just purchased the Adobe CS3 Master collection and I was about to install it on my computer when noticed that it said the OS had to be 10.4.9. I was running 10.4.8. So I went to the downloads section of the apple website, downloaded the 10.4.9 combo update for PPC, and did the installation. Only when the installation finished, it said that the software didn't install, adn there was an error. I tried to open the .dmg again but it said that it couldn't open it because of a "broken pipe." So I trashed that .dmg and downloaded it again. This time, the .dmg wouldn't open at all and gave the same "broken pipe" message. So I tried to restart the computer...and now it won't boot up at all!!!
THe white screen shows up with the swirling little circle, but when it gets to the blue screen with the shiny apple and the status bar it just freezes! The status bar isn't even blue! It's just empty!!
I don't know what to do. When I had that error in the initial installation, did it erase my OS? I have a PowerBook running 10.4.8 too. Is there any way I can use my PowerBook to fix the G5? Help! Tech support is after hours already! I need this computer for big time production work!

Hi. If you cannot boot from the system DVD and repair the G5 boot drive (...?)
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=DiskUtility/10.5/en/duh1018.html
You may be able to use firewire TDM
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583
to access the G5 boot drive as the Target from the laptop and run Disk Utility(the one on the laptop) > Repair Disk on it.
Or you could connect the firewire external drive with the CCC clone on it to the G5, and try holding down the Option (alt) key on Startup - which should offer you the choice of booting from the external firewire drive - if it is bootable. Good Luck.

  • Satellite L40 18P won't boot anymore

    Hello folks,
my Satellite L40 18P won't boot anymore. All I get is the Power LED to go green. The DVD ROM drive blinks and I can open and close it - but that's it. Nothing else happens.
Any idea in the forum what I can do to get the notebook boot again ? Or please ask questions for additional details.
    many thanks, Johi 13

    Hi,
    wow, that was fast.
No, I can't see anything - the screen stays black. I do not hear the HDD start, neither do I hear the fan.
This behavior appeard for the first time yesterday evening.
Last activity was (if I remember correctly) closing the lid and sending the notebook to standby.
So far, I haven't tested it with an external monitor.
    thanks, Johi13

  • I have an iMac that won't boot up.  I've read all posts on this subject to no avail.  When power is switched on, it chimes, Apple logo appears, spinning wheel, then loading bar starts to fill.  It gets to about 25% then switches off! Help please!

iMac that won't boot up!   When power is switched on it chimes, Apple logo appears, then loading bar, then spinning wheel.  Bar seems to load up and gets to around 25%, then reverts to the start again, gets to about 20% on the bar and then switches itself off leaving a black screen.  Tried all the remedies on internet with no avail so would welcome some advice other than binning what is a relatively new computer.  Earliest appointment Apple could offer was Thursday 17th, really useful for a business user _ not impressed,

You've probably tried this, but will it Safe Boot? Restart holding down the Shift key until you see the grey progress bar. You'll need to input your admin password during bootup. If it will boot you can then try to eject the disk using the various suggestions here that you haven't tried already:

  • HP laptop won't boot at all

My one and half year old Hp 2000 laptop won't boot at all. When I press the power button, it doesn't show any sign of life at all.
I have tried Hard test several times yet it didn't fix it.
    Battery charges, power adapter working.
I have also tried to boot using the AC adapter alone yet my precious laptop isn't showing any sign of life.
Please how do I fix this? I need to do my assignment and prepare for my exams, and I can't afford a new laptop. Not when the current laptop is pretty new.
    Please help me HP support.
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi @Chichiiii ,
    Thank You for your inquiry.
I understand that when you power on your notebook it is unresponsive.  You did state that the AC adapter is working and the battery is charging.
Here is a link to HP Notebook PCs - Computer Does Not Start (Windows 8), which has multiple links to help you determine the issue.
    Good Luck!

I have a 22" iMac desktop running OSX 10.6  Snow Leopard and it won't boot. I've tried shift start, option command P R. It's stuck at the restart, all I see is the spinning wheel below the apple logo. And I lost my OSX DVD is there any way to fix this? I just did a software update yesterday and have about 20GB left on my Hard drive. The last thing I did was try to install some plugin's for Pro Tools 8, but it wouldnt let me install so I restarted and now I'm screwed. Please Help!

You have to consider the possibility the hard drive may be dying.    If your data isn't backed up, try one of the tools below:

Once you are sure your data is backed up, we can examine other possibilities.  In the meantime call AppleCare for your original installation DVDs.  You may need them.

  • Won't boot at all... [will not POST]

Greets. My order from newegg just came in today and i'm quite happy with the "big" things i got-
    AMD Athlon 64 3500+ (link)
    MSI K8N Neo4-F (link)
Now, I'm not totally oblivious with the whole computer situation, after all, I was brave enough to build this, right? 8) The problem I am having lies in the fact that the computer just won't boot at all. Eventually I turned on that D-Bracket into JDB1. So far it has got Yellow and Red LEDs which stay on. The book tells me that the processor is installed incorrectly. I'm pretty sure it's lying as I have checked it many times (please don't make me take off that heatsink/fan again) and the chip is FIRMLY set in it's place. Alas, the screen stays black (running off of a sapphire card) and nothing happens. I would expect to AT LEAST get a BIOS screen to see where I messed up my SATA configuration (as I'm sure I did...)
But, if anyone has seen a problem like this or knows a solution, please give me a shout. It is very much appreciated
edit: after lurking more (link) I have decided that i'm not at fault, it is, indeed, the graphics card and/or monitor that are not working. I get:
which, according to this post, means that I should be in the clear for BIOS set up. Nothing is displayed on my screen! :( Help!
    Thanks.

    1) Do u have any usb cables from your case front panel or Flash card/drive or usb hubs connected to the mobo if so unplug them.
    2) Switch off computer & unplug mains lead the remove a module of memory leaving the remaining 1 in slot1 (nearest CPU)
if 1 doesn't apply or doesn't give any change try 2.
1 does not apply, the only external devices i have attached are a monitor, keyboard, mouse (all os/2, not usb) and of course our friendly D-Bracket.
I have unplugged all IDE devices and SATA devices. All that's in there is the 1 GB of RAM (it's a 1gb stick, not 512mb), graphics card and processor, still no picture :(
