Won't Burn Music File

Suddenly, I can't burn any of my audio files.
When I insert the blank CD it initializes it then it "finishes burning" then
I get the message that it wasn't able to burn the file.
I tried a several music files. I don't think I've past the burn limit because
some of these files aren't Itunes.
Some help would be greatly appreciated.

CD drives have always had a fairly high failure rate compared to other components. I wouldn't imagine anyone is the only one with a media drive issue.
There are usually four questions: is it the media (meaning the cd's themselves, since some batches just don't work)? is it the drive itself? is there a bug in the software (less likely)? is there corruption in the driver software? It is often, unfortunately, the drive.

  • N96 Won't transfer music files

My N96 Won't transfer music files even though it's a brand new phone with plenty free memory. 'Nokia Music Manager' just says 'There is not enough free memory in the device'. I've checked that it's the phone memory in use (E:\) but it still won't transfer.

This is usually a problem with the default target directory in Music Manager, however you seem to say you've already checked this.
Rather than waste a lot of time trying to fix this, I'd just copy the files either by connecting the phone via USB cable in Data Transfer Mode or by using a card reader if you're transferring to the card and drag and drop the files to the Sounds\Digital directory.
I actually do all my transfers (usually well over 0.5GB a week in podcasts) like this: music manager's too much of a pain to use.
Just remember to refresh/update your library once you've transferred the files.

  • Burn music files and a pdf file?

Is it possible to burn some music files and a pdf file on the same CD using iTunes? If not, maybe using some other software?

iTunes can only burn files that are in its library, so forget about PDFs.
Yes it can be done with other programs, using a data (not audio) CD format.

  • Why won't the music file I clicked and dragged onto my website publish?

I followed all the instructions in iWeb for inserting a music file on a page, by clicking on the music file and dragging it onto the iWeb page of my choice.  Yet when I attempt to publish the changes, I get an error message saying "There was an error communicating with the FTP server. Try again later, or check with your service provider."  I've tried it numerous times, but always get that message.  I've tried changing the file name so that it does NOT include any spaces, but that doesn't work.  Then, I tried replacing the spaces with underscores, but still it won't publish.  Anyone have any idea how I can get this to work?

To verify that it's not the music file publish your site to a folder on your hard drive and open it locally with your browser. Click on the site's folder and select Local Folder in the Publish To menu.
If the music file is there and plays OK then do this:
go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
login with a bogus username and password like "test" and "test". This clears the caches.
login with your correct username and password, launch iWeb and try publishing to MobileMe again.

  • Cant burn music files on CDs

I am having trouble burning music cds using the burner. The music will initially burn but after listening to the disc I realize the quality becomes poor including lots of skipping, especially towards the end of the disc. I use a standard cd-r and never surpass capacity.
Is there a way to fix this problem or should I send my mac in?

  • ITunes Won't Play Music Files or Store (Music) Previews

Running iTunes 11.0.1.12 on Windows 7 Professional SP1 (Build 7601).  Cannot play any of my music files in iTunes (local or from iCloud), nor does iTunes play any Store music preview.  The time bar does not move from 00:00, and there's no sound (even if I manually move the progress indicator past 00:00.
It will play movies and TV shows.  I've Googled the heck out of this issue and see no solution that works for me.
My sound (card and speakers) do work and are working.
Also, strangely, iTunes disappears from my status bar when minimized, and does not appear when shift-tabbing through open programs.

Thanks, Niel!  That makes sense.  I used to use itunes a lot on my old pc laptop.  Hadn't really gotten around to using it much, if at all, on my macbook pro.
    Much obliged,
    S.

  • Samsung TV Wiselink Won't Recognize Music Files on Touch

Just got a new Samsung DLP TV with Wiselink, which is a USB port on the TV that allows you to connect other devices to show pictures (jpeg files) and play music (mp3). I attached my Touch using a USB connector and the TV immediately recognized it and in fact named "Apple iPod" on the screen as the connected device. However, the TV said "no music files found." Anyone have a suggestion?

Ipod touch and other recent ipod models are not "USB Mass Storage Class (MSC)" devices and therefore the music files cannot be seen by Samsung Wiselink. If the files are in the hard drive part of an iPod that allows hard drive mode they will be seen as will photos.
Photos on an iPod touch can be viewed via Wiselink if they have been transferred via iPhoto to the folder that mounts under "devices" when iPhoto and the iPod touch communicate.

  • ITunes won't copy music files to Media folder when songs are dragged

I am trying add songs from my external hard drive to my iTunes Library.
I have the following options checked:
    "Keep iTunes Media folder organized."
"Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library."
In the past, I could just drag files from my hard drive into the iTunes song list and add them to the library. iTunes would successfully make a copy of the file to the iTunes Media folder so that I could disconnect the hard drive and still play the songs.
Suddenly, this no longer works. iTunes won't make a copy of the file anymore. It won't even make a copy of files located on my desktop.
I found a workaround -- copy the files from my hard drive to the desktop. Then I have to go to File > Add to Library in order for it to work.
It's an extra step, but it was VERY annoying to have to figure out.
So my question -- Is this an iTunes bug or some kind of deliberate attempt at making it hard to use files not purchased through iTunes?
I noticed this on one of the Apple support pages (my emphasis):
Copying music to and keeping the iTunes Media folder organized
You can select these options on the Advanced pane of iTunes preferences:
"Keep iTunes Media folder organized." Learn more about how iTunes 9 and later organizes your media.
"Copy files to iTunes Media folder when adding to library." Select this option to store all your media files in the iTunes Media folder. Since it's all in one location, you can easily transfer or back up your media. When you purchase or import media into iTunes from a CD, it's automatically added to your iTunes Media folder. If you add media to iTunes another way (choosing "Add to library" from the File menu or by dragging an MP3 file into iTunes), it might not be added to your iTunes Media folder.
    Well, why the heck not??

I have posted so many issues to APPLE on the staggering lack of  basic functionality with itunes and each time they keep deleting it.
Automatically Addd feature does not work consistently if the library is on NAS or a drive not on the same bok as the Mac, iMac or PC.
iTuns will hang if you have the finder window open  and the recently added playlist open
itunes will not add files automatically  if more than three phases of adding folders to the automatically add to itune folder is refreshed
Once could even jump to the conclusion that the software testing and Quality Control in the iTunes development team had missed out whole chunks of tsting OR that the test designers wrote such basic test scripts which did not replicate real world useage.

  • ITunes Suddenly Won't Recognize Music Files

I have synced my iPod with my Toshiba laptop more times than I can count. When I opened iTunes this morning, iTunes did not show any of my music/podcasts, etc. After a moment of panic, I realized that everything was still on my computer and in my iPod, but it is as if this was a brand new version of iTunes. iTunes also "sses" my iPod, but will not let me change anything. I seem to recall accepting an automatic upgrade of iTunes recently (is this what I get for not using Safari?) but I think I have used iTunes since then. What gives? Do I need to reconstruct my library in iTunes? If so, will I lose my Playlists? Did the upgrade cause this problem?

yes i can play them with other players. i've tried 6.0.1 still the same problem. i had cleared my library, files kept of course, and just added my music folder to the library. they were all there before. i think it won't recognize cds that i've imported using musicmatch and itunes in the past. does anyone know why? thanks

  • ITunes won't delete music files from default external hard drive . . . what to do?!

I really don't want to manually delete 6 GB of stuff that's not in my library but still in the music folder. Yes . . . the external hard drive is listed as the default music location. THANK YOU!

Hmm, perhaps it wasn't when you deleted the files, or there is a permissions issue. Test by adding back a known redundant file, then deleting from iTunes. Does it get deleted from the hard drive? If so, great add back the entire media folder, then delete everything added today. If not...
Right-click on your main media folder and click Properties, then go to the Security tab and click Advanced. If necessary grant your account and system full control to this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to replace permissions on child objects which will repair permissions throughout the library. This is the XP dialog but Windows 7 shouldn't be too different.
    Now try again...
I also have a script called KillSelectedFiles which is useful when the source files are located outside of the designated iTunes Media folder but In your case it shouldn't be necessary.

  • DVD Burner keeps encoding and won't burn my file.

Trying to burn a home made video onto a DVD and when I attempt to do it, it won't go any farther than encoding the video.  I have left it on for 2+ hours letting it encode and it won't get any higher than 60%.  I'm using Windows Movie Maker software and Windows DVD burning software.  There is no way it should be taking this long.  I am using a Toshiba Satellite L355-S7902.  Do I just need to change my DVD burning software or what?  Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I don't think so. I bought new disks yesterday to be sure and the result is the same. Also, when in the drives, none of the disks (old or new) make any kind of not-normal noise. Everything seems normal, except neither computer can burn. Weird!

  • IiMovie 5 won't burn Project files, only completed movie.

    Using iMovie 5.0.2 (111)
CD/DVD drive will burn DVD movie from iDVD , no probs, but of course this is the finished movie which cannot be re-edited.
Will not copy to DVD the project as files that can be re-edited in future. So DVD burner ( HI-dt-st-DVDRAM GSA-H44N) works fine apart from this.
Selecting 'Burn project to Disc' from iMovie menu is followed by 'Saving Project File' and then 'No Disc Burning Drive Found. If you have an Apple-supported disc burner, please check your connections and try again' but iMovie knows it's there because it will burn completed movie via iDVD! Confused!
Any help to save files as project greatly appreciated, thanks.

Do you not get this dialogue box?
This feature creates a duplicate of your project onto a CD or DVD ROM. It does not create a video DVD for playing in a DVD player. Do you want to continue?
It would have to be very short iMovie project (which run at 15GB per hour) to fit on a CD or even a DVD.
Better to store the project on an external hard disk, which of course must be connected by firewire.

  • My iPhone won't find music files I know I have. How do I fix this?

Yesterday, I was listening to some playlists I have on my phone and mac. However, today, many of the songs I know I have on my computer and phone will not play. My iPhone tells me that the files cannot be found. The files are on my mac, and I've synched my phone multiple times and restored it from a back-up. How do I fix this?

    HI,
A Googlemail name can be used in iChat but not to link to AIM buddies or as a valid AIM name just because it is also used for an Apple ID as well.
You will have to enter it in the Accounts section of the Preferences.
The Googlemail ID need you to have Enabled the Talk option on your Goolge account Settings.
