Won't connect to a D-Link router

This is the second DIR-655 router I have - spent many hours on the phone with the D-Link support people before they sent me a second one. It still will not connect wirelessly with my Apple Powerbook G4 running OS 10.3.9 although it will connect to the Windows-based laptops I have. D-Link says contact Apple – HELP!
My 6 year old Linksys connects - but is slow so I wanted to upgrade.
My product research before buying this piece of crap didn't reveal that it wouldn't connect to a Powerbook that connects everywhere other than my home.

Is there a particular reason you need to hang on to that router? I looked it up and it seems to cost as much as an Apple but gets worse reviews. It's one reason that when my D-Link DI-624 start rebooting itself all the time, when I upgraded I went to the Apple router after years of using non-Apple routers with my Mac. All the reviews said it was one of the best, and the D-Link not.
On top of that, over the years I had also bought another D-Link wireless and a D-Link USB hub, and both were unreliable disappointments. So now I've finally learned my lesson - I'm done with D-Link for good.

My mac OS 10.5.3 won't connect to my D-link router WBR-2310

I have just purchased a D-link WBR2310 router. My wired pc works, but not my wireless Mac, even if the network has no protection/password. It worked with a Linksys router. When I do have to enter the WEP passwork, along with the dollar sign, it tries to connect, and then ends with Connection Time Out.
I have tried to delete airport, and restart it, but didn<t work. I did also try that other answer where you had to change the RTS Threshold to 2306, didn't work.

Check if the D-Link has a firmware update. Also check if changing the channel on the wireless frequently fixes it. If it doesn't get another Linksys which is the same as your previous, and sell the D-Link. Unfortunately wireless standards aren't yet set in stone.

Airport not maintaining internet connection on my D-link router with Macbook Pro 5.5 with Snow leopard

Airport keeps throwing me out of internet connection on my D-link router with Macbook Pro 5.5 with Snow leopard. Pls if anyone has a solution to this then let me know

I'm using my PC notebook because connecting with my iMac is IMPOSSIBLE!!! If I get connected at all, it's worse than dial-up speed.
We are wireless via a D-Link DIR-625 (new) -- but was having some problems before with a netgear. Problem much worse now. My computers are not the primary computers. My sister gets that coin toss. She is a PC user. I share with her using WPA2. When the iMac "wakes" the signal bands are strong, but when I go to a page I lose all signal strength. And several times a day I get a message indicating an error joining the network -- arghhhhh -- HELP!
Is the problem with D-Link or Mac? Thanks for any help.

Can't connect wirelessly to D-Link Router?!

I'm using an iBook G4 with Airport Extreme, and I can't connect to my home wireless D-Link Router. It's WPA encrypted, but I'm using the proper key.
When I boot up the laptop, I can find a strong signal- it sees it, but when I pull up Safari, Firefox, or iChat, it says I'm not connect to the internet.
Any suggestions, or need more info?

Did you already try using the troubleshoot button on the error page?
Also, make sure that both the network name (SSID) and the WPA password are correct (and choose 'WPA Personal' as security type).

You could also check if the signal you are receiving does indeed come from your router and not from your neighbours'...(click on the airport icon to see the list of 'available' networks)

F4580 won't connect to new O2 wireless router - still showing as connected to old one

Wireless light constantly flashes.
It's still connected to the old router even tho that is disconnected but it is recognising & discovering the new router.....

Thanks for your response Dean! There is no 'screen' on our printer so I'm a bit perplexed how to do what you have suggested. On top of the printer, left hand side there are button's for:
Power
Cancel
Scan {USB only}
Copy Settings x 2 buttons
Black
Colour
Wireless
Basically all we need to know is how to reconnect the Wireless to the new router. The HP Software is working fine with the Ethernet connected MAC & we have no problems printing directly from that. Once the printer is connected to the new router the other devices will be able to see it & connect.

My AirPort Express won't connect to my Verizon FIOS Router

I am trying to get my AirPort Express to join my Verizon FIOS wireless network and I am experiencing difficulties. I have made sure theAirport is updated with the 6.3 firmware. I only want to use it to play AirTunes over my existing network. So when I go to set it up in the AirPort Utility on my MacBook Pro it recognizes the Airport Express. I go through the setup and select "Join my existing wireless network". Then I click on my network's name and enter the WEP (i am sure I am not misspelling the WEP, I checked several times) and finish up on the settings. I then click "Update" and it tells me it's resetting and will show up in a few moments. It never shows up on my utility and the speaker never shows up on itunes. From then on the AirPort Express is unrecognizable as an airport or a network, and won't be recognizable again until I reset it.

Can't connect to D-Link router. Both Wireless and Wired connection.

Hi guys,
So I've had this problem for a really long time. I am unable to connect to my D-Link router. My laptop used to be able to connect to this router before. I was using my laptop then all of a sudden I was disconnected from the wifi connection.
I tried to connect back to it but it said that I needed to be in range. I'm tethering off my phone atm to write this post. I'm currently right beside the router but it still gives me the same message. Sometimes it'll just say that
windows cannot connect to the hidden network. I tried using an ethernet cable to directly connect via LAN, it worked for awhile, but recently now it says that I don't have a valid IP configuration. I've looked through many forums and threads and
tried their "fixes" but I guess it still wasn't my "fix". I have gone into CMD and did the ipconfig /all command and here are my details:

Not sure if this "Tunnel adapter" should even be there. Anyways, my laptop is a MSI-CR600. I've had it for awhile now, past warranty and whatnot. Never called and brought it back to the manufacturer. D-Link router is

Connecting samsung blue ray to OLD wireless D-Link Router

i recently purchased a samsung blue ray player with wireless capabilities. when trying to connect to my D-link router used in my house it does not recognize the router (iphones and ipads used in the house pick up this network). when i tried to manually connect, i needed numbers that i am not sure where to locate. can anybody help with this? thanks. Computer detects router but won't connect online - help

I came home from work and all of the sudden my computer wouldn't connect at all to anything. We have another computer on the network which I'm using to send this message and it works fine, but mine won't connect. It detects the router and everything is connected- all the numbers come up in the Network preferences like it always does...IP, ethernet, etc., but nothing will connect to the internet or AIM. Anybody know what the problem might be? Can my ethernet card be busted, or disconnected or anything that would cause the computer to locate the router but not actually connect? Any help is appreciated- thanks.

Don't know if you ever got this figured out but here is the answer...
I just spent the last two days on this and have finally sorted it out. It actually isn't that hard to do but for some reason, no one has consolidated the information in one place!
First and foremost, make sure that you have all the latest and greatest firmware updates for your printer, your computer and your mobile devices.
Next, you need to connect your printer to your network via an ethernet cable, this is the only way to get in to the printer softare to configure it for your wireless network.
Navigate the printer menus on the keypad to Reports>Config Report and print this report. It will provide you with the IP adress and IPv4 address for the printer.
With the printer connected to your network and powered on, point your browser to the IP address of the printer. If this doen't work (it didn't for me) use the IPv4 address.
This will open the configuration panel for the printer and will let you configure the wireless for the printer so that it can join your wireless network. You will see various tabs across the top. Select network. Then along the left you will see wireless. Choose that. Now you should see a list of wireless networks available including your very own home network. Choose that one, enter your password and hit apply.
Disconnect the ethernet cable and you should be ready to Airprint from all devices. This worked for me, I can't imagine it won't work for all...then again...

Let me see if I can find how to reset your router. I think it's the same as mine actually. Your router is a pretty good router. I think with the settings I suggest to you you will get your PlayBook to connect reliably.
Also, when you get into your router, make sure your firmware is the most recent. Update it if you have to.

Wireless printing to Canon MX310 fails using D-Link Router - Can't Connect

I recently bought a D-Link wireless router (320), which supports wireless printing and I am trying to set it up to work with MBP. I set it up to run with Windows XP and it works fine with no problems, but with my MBP it won't work. Here is a screen shot showing the XP set up and the printer server info from the router (bottom).

From this, I've been using the following information to add the printer,
Protocol: HP Jetdirect - Socket
Address: 192.168.0.1
Queue: lp1
The printer shows up as idle in the printer selection menu. When I print it goes through the following messages,
Connecting to Printer...
Printer Online...
Printing...
And then the queue clears itself as if it printed, but nothing ever comes out of the printer. At first I assumed it was a problem with the router, but when I tested it with Windows it doesn't have any hang-ups.
Any help would be appreciated with this, as I've read several posts and tried all recommendations but nothing will work. I'm also curious if I have the "Queue" in the printer dialogue right, or if it should be 9100. Thanks in advance!

Based on your Windows port configuration, your Mac printer queue configuration is reasonably correct. Although based on your Windows port configuration, you don't seem to require a queue name of lp1 - this would normally be required for LPD connections.
Your issue will be with the driver used. The Canon Mac drivers cannot be used when you have the printer connected to the USB port of a wireless router or print server (although the exception to this rule is an Airport device). When you have the printer connected via USB to a router or being shared by Windows, then you need to use a CUPS-based driver like Gutenprint or PrintFab (yes I know the Canon driver says CUPS but it is not true CUPS).
The Gutenprint tends to be the preferred driver because it is free, however your MX310 is not listed as a supported model so you would have to experiment with using a model that is supported and this can waste a lot of time and ink/paper.
PrintFab (www.printfab.net) costs 49 Euro but it does support your MX310. A trial version is also available so you could see if the printer does work before making a purchase.
One final note. For your Windows queue you don't need to add the colon 9100 after the IP address. The fact that you have selected RAW and have 9100 set for the Port Number is adequate.

Let me give the history - I started with an Apple Express being fed thru a D-Link EBTR 2310 cable Router from an RCA DCM315 Modem (Pure). Comcast service all the way.
Got the 1st generation TC in 2008 and merely replaced the Airport Express with the TC. Worked ok
A year or two ago I did try removing the modem and feeding the TC directly from the modem. Resulted in the same condition I have now - Continuous flashing amber on the TC. So I put the router back in the chain.
Some time later, at the recommendation of a Comcast rep, I replaced the router with (a Belkin F5D 5231) to see if speed and dropout problems would be improved. I thought it helped some at the time but now I am not so sure.
Last week I decided to see if a new modem would help with download speeds. So I got another pure cable modem (Motorola SB 6121- high on the Comcast recommended list).
Got up and running easily with Comcast help and with the modem connected directly to a computer.
Next I put the TC in the link and again could not get past the TC continuing to flash amber. Although I did get connected to the internet with this configuration I lost connection two both of my printers - one connected by USB and the other wirelessly to the TC. Again everything works fine when I put the Belkin router back in the system.
However with the router in there, the modem shows the downstream connection to be 10/100 ethernet speed. (Modem light changes color for indicating speeds.}
I have gone thru all of the combinations of powering down/ up, but all stays the same.
I can live with what I have but something still doesn’t seem right.

my wireless adapter won't connected to my zte f660 wireless router, but it's connected to any mobile phone thetered device. The problem is when i try to connect, the wireless adapter is automatically disabled and enable it self after it.
i've tried using an external wireless adapter (TP link) and it's connected normally.

Please take the following steps for troubleshooting:
1. Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\All Categories and run the Network Adapter Troubleshooter
2. If the wireless adapter can normally connect to other Wireless router, please check the configuration in zte f660 wireless router.

My mac won't connect to the router.

I am very new to macs and recently bought a Macbook pro, I have connected to my router a D-Link, DSL-G604T but when I enable WEP security the mac won't connect only my PC's will. I am prompted by the mac to put in my Encryption key but it still doesn't work. I am able to to set the router to WPA-PSK but get stuck on the length of the string that I am supposed to put in? Will this set up work better?? Very stuck mac virgin, pleas help.

First, I strongly suggest that you use WPA or WPA2 instead of WEP for your wireless encryption...but if you must use WEP & work in a mixed (PC/Mac) environment...
Always use Hex characters for WEP encryption. Either 10 Hex characters (for 40-bit WEP) or 26 Hex characters (for 128-bit WEP)
If you use an ASCII password or passphrase, then use either 5 ASCII characters (for 40-bit WEP) or 13 ASCII characters (for 128-bit WEP)
Note: Because manufacturers may use different algorithms to translate between ASCII & Hex, that this doesn’t always work, and is one of the leading causes of issues with keys.
