Won't copy Files -50 error code?

Hi all,
I connected an usb external hd to my G4 ibook with OS X 10.3.9. I am trying to copy a couple of critical mpeg2 files. The hd is from a pecee xp. The mobo went bad. I just need to copy these mpeg2 video files to my mac. These files can't be replaced. When I try to copy them, it starts great and starts copying as fast as usual then stops after about 30seconds and gives the -50 error that says an unexpected error occured. I REALLY need to get these files to my mac. Did I mention how much I hate pecees! Please if anybody can help I would really appreciate it.

Just before your last reply, I took the ext hd and connected it to my other mac, powerbook G4 and tried to copy one of the files to it. It did the same thing, started fine, then stopped and gave the error. I noticed that when it stops, the light on the ext hd holds. So that gave me the idea to try to view one of the files using quicktime on the mac, just leaving the file on the ext hd. It did the same thing. It started to play fine, went a few minutes, then just froze. The ext hd light stayed on hold. I didn't touch it. After about a minute or so, the video would just continue where it left off, and then it would play a few minutes and then freeze, and continue the same cycle. It is a direct usb connection, but it was acting like it was buffering or something. So now I think you have gotten to the root of the problem. I think the ext hd has some type of problem itself. I don't think it is the mac at all. So, I guess I am going to have to give up on getting these files off of it. The thing that is bad is the hd is only a few months old. It is a seagate 120gb, which I bought new. I just wish there was a way to get the copy function on the mac to do the copy and just wait when the hd does it's stalling thing, then resume the copy when the hd stops stalling?

Hey there,
I'm having problems with my Zen Mosaic EZ00. Up until a few weeks ago it has been working fine however, since then, has begun to show the error message? "Cannot copy file: Data error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)" whenever I try to copy files on to it. I have tried the recovery software available and it only updated the firmware. Some files do occasionally (and very occasionally) copy but usually it shows the error message and cancels the copy.
I would really appreciate if anyone could help me with this?

Since upgrading to Maverick I'm unable to open any indesign files (receiving error code 4).

I decided to uninstall, then redownload from Creative Cloud, but my Adobe Application Manager tries to launch and quits unexpectedly, over and over. I restarted my computer, but that wasn't helpful. I had the same problem. Brand new Mac Pro with a fresh installation of Creatve Cloud.
ID CC couldn't open CS6 files. Error code 4. As luck would have it I still have CS6 on an another Mac. When I have opened the file there and then did a Save As (CS6 file with another name) everything worked great. Strange.
But now with the latest ID CC update it seems to work fine to open CS6 files without error code 4.
I hope you managed to solve your problem in time?

Copy File Fails error

I have a Pavilion dm4 and it is telling me that my Hard Drive is going to fail.
The original operating system was Windows 7 (64bit), but I 'upgraded' to Windows 8
I have backed up everything on an external hard drive
I purchased a new hard drive: WD Mainstream 500GB SATA 3
I ordered the system recovery disks from HP
Durning recovery I keep getting a 'Copy FIle Fails' error about half way through disk 2 of 3
I have tried several times and it keeps getting stuck
Someone suggested that it might be a BIOS problem, but I don't know how to navigate this tool. ( I have version F.26 I think)
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I understand you are getting a "'Copy FIle Fails" error on the second disc when you are trying to recover after a failed hard drive. I have checked the HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guideand on page 2 it lists a 500 GB, 7200 rpm hard drive as compatible with your system. I am more inclined to believe there is something wrong with the recovery disc. If this is the case I would encourage you to contact HP technical support to see about getting the second disc replaced. Be sure to explain to them as you did here. Below is the contact links for HP Technical Support if you need them.

I am trying to copy iphoto library from one hard drive to another and get the message The Finder can’t complete the operation because some data in “iPhoto Library” can’t be read or written. (Error code -36) = Need to back iy up or my wife will kill me. thanks for help

Here is something you can try:
Obtain iPhoto Library Manager. It is an inexpensive program you can download. Run it and tell it to REBUILD your iPhoto Library from your original iPhoto Library. It will create a NEW file in a destination that you specify (you can specify the other hard drive and thus get a backup all at once) and try to recreate the iPhoto Library based on the info from your original one. Depending on the problem causing your -36 file error, iPhoto Library Manager may (a) successfully recreate your entire photo library successfully on the other hard drive; (b) recreate all of your original photo library except for the part that is damaged; or (c) won't be able to finish at all if the disk problems are severe enough.
If (c) happens, you may have to copy the actual photos individually out of the iPhoto Library and into a new iPhoto Library. The actual photos are inside the iPhoto Library. You can find them by control-click once on the iPhoto Library and select Show Package Contents. The folder called Originals or Masters has the photos (originals) and a folder called Modified or Previews has the edited photos. I suggest COPYING (not moving) these folders to the external drive. You will then need to re-import the actual photos inside these folders to a new iPhoto Library.

Error opening the portable document file document. error code = 0x4000000c

I have been getting this error message when I try to open a .pdf that was created in Word. I have searched for this error code and nothing comes up.
The file was created from a Word newsletter template. I had no problem opening this in PS before I updated my Adobe Acrobat Pro. The file CAN be opened in Acrobat however.
Any advice as to what this code means and why I can't opne the file anymore?

Thanks for the reply, Chris. In this case I can switch the project over to InDesign, but writing out a Word file to PDF is a pretty common thing to do, so I hope they eventually have time to fix it for those of us having the problem.
I understand updating for the upgrade, but not everyone can afford to upgrade to a new set of CS software every time a new version is released. At work is one thing, but I can't justify it for my personal copy. And I know you didn't mean it that way, but I hope that Adobe doesn't forget about its CS3 users just because CS4 is the latest version. The Creative Suite is a pretty expensive piece of software to buy to quickly become old and not worthy of bug fixes.

Copying Files, Ignore Errors

Hey all,
The Harddrive in my laptop recently got all screwy, I used diskwarrior to rebuild some of it and it is now operable in target disk mode. I have about 50 gigs of music on there that i really want to get off, but when i try to copy all of the music folder to my other mac, it stops in the middle because certain files are unreadable and i get an error code, i believe error -34. Im wondering if there is a program/method to copy all of the music over and just skip over the bad files, so at least a majority of my stuff is there and i dont have to go through 12,000 songs and copy them individually

PI 7.11 sp6 system copy Exchange Profile error code: 399

Experts,
We have a PI 7.1 (EHP1, sp6) PI system based on AIX 6.1 OS and Oracle 11g.
I recently did the standard PI system copy from a prod source (PIP) to a training target (PIT).
I used the most recenty PI system copy guide that is specific for PI 7.1 EHP1
I did not run into any major problems doing the steps of the copy itself.
I did the usual "post" steps, documented in the guide that really are done on any NW system.
Then I got into the specific "PI" post steps and that's where I now have a problem.
I followed all the steps, fixing my RFCs, JCos, Destinations, cleaning up SLD, SLDAPICUST, creating new business systems...etc.
My big problem is with the exchange profile. Yes, it's easy to change all the SIDs and hostnames using the search tool for all the parameters in the exchange profile, but the one I COULD NOT CHANGE was the "ABAP Connection". In there right after the copy was the hostname of the prod system, the client, and the user PILDUSER. I attempted to put the hostname of my target (PIT) system, but I would get the error:

I'm certain the user is NOT locked and the password is correct for PILDUSER. It'll give me a different error if I put the wrong password in, so I know it's hitting my system.
Worse yet, If I left the hostname in there that was set to "prod", then when I changed all the other values in the "parameters" section of the XI profile, then it actually changed my PROD system!!
If I keep the ABAP connection to PIT, then the entire exchange profile disappears for PIT.
I see these errors in the default trace and application log:

I can't be the first person to run into this.
SO strange that I can actually plug in either my dev/QA or PROD hostname in the "ABAP connection" box and it WILL ACCEPT IT...but then, it registered my training system as a "non central adapter engine". I don't want that.
Any ideas?
Another issue is that the SLD PI information from the PIT system is missing the "Integration Directory". It has the other 5 entries...Adapter Engine, Domain, Integration Repository, Integration Server, RWB.
