Won't cut and paste anymore

Eversince the Mavericks upgrade, I can't cut and paste in the calandar app anymore. Let me try to explain:
Every month, I get a new schedule for work, and I have to manually enter it in to my calander app. It then sinks to my phone, ipad and work macbood air. I only have 2 or 3 different catagories that I use for any given day, and I used to just copy one catagory from, say November 14th, and then click on November 29 and paste the same catagory and time. Now it will only paste on the date that I copied from (ie it'll just put another copy of the same job & time on the same day).
Is this happening to anyone else, or just me?

Anybody ever experience this? I can't copy and paste text between windows anymore. And, no, I'm not a complete moron. That was the first thing I checked. I was wondering if there was something in the latest update that might have screwed this up.

If the right-click context menu allows copy/cut and paste with the two add-ons disabled, then one or both of them is causing the issue. Re-enable the extensions one-at-a-time, restart Firefox and test. When the problem returns, you will know which is the culprit.

I use classical Hebrew for my work, and Pages will only display English characters even with a Hebrew font selected. If I cut and paste Hebrew characters from another document, as long as the font is supported, it will appear in Pages. If I type it won't continue in Hebrew. I have tried downloading several fonts, including those from professional societies, but the only way to get Hebrew in my document is to cut and paste. Does anyone know how to fix this? I use an older MacBook running OS 10.9.1. I used to do my Hebrew work in Word, but it is no longer supported by Mac OS.

Just clarifying:
Pages '09 has bad support for Hebrew, Arabic etc but will accept pasted text.
Pages 5 has much better support but with bugs.
If you have columns they are in the wrong order ie Text starts in the left column and ends in the right column.
If you type English into Hebrew text it tends to fall in the wrong position eg instead of to the left of Hebrew punctuation it goes to the right.
As Tom recommends the only real solution on the Mac is Mellel.

btw Tell Apple, they are amazingly slow to fix this running sore which has been broken since RtoL was supposedly introduced in OSX 10.2.3 over a decade ago.

Who else does not have cut and paste, or shift click anymore on Lion?

I can't cut and paste anything, and shift click doesn't work like it normally should. Shift click is acting like command shift insead of selecting everything between. Please, no ******** answers.

You don't have your numbers lock on or a shift key jammed or something do you? I have been using Lion since it was released and have never had nor seen an issue with the keyboard as yet. That's not to say you are not having one. Is it happening in particular programs? Have you installed any third party programs along the line like TypeIt4Me or such?

Cut and paste pdf files

I have a need to cut and paste from a pdf file into text editor is this possible. I have searched for 3rd party software and have not come up with any thing any help would be appreciated.

I'd guess that you won't be able to copy and paste text since Ghost Script utilizes PostScript which is essentially an image file. It would be like trying to grab text from a bmp file...it's not text anymore because it's a picture of the text.
For other documents if you have the Acrobat 8 Reader and the tools are greyed out, then it sounds that most likely security was set to not allow copy and paste. The person who distilled the document would have selected that security option when creating the pdf. You can check that in the security settings in Properties.

Multiple problems: can't open two windows, browser doesn't close although window disappears, and after working for a while I loose my ability to cut and paste or use drop down arrows

Maybe two weeks ago I discovered that I could no longer open two windows at a time (I can still open multiple tabs). I am also having problems with cutting and pasting, which is crucial to my on-line job. Plus, when I exit Firefox, it doesn't always shut down, so then when you go to re-open, of course, it won't (unless you go into process and turn it off). I have re-installed multiple times and I have also used restore. Nothing seems to be fixing this and I really, really don't want to use IE, especially for work.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

Maybe also do a malware check with a few malware scan programs. 
You need to use all programs because each detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of the database before doing a scan.

I can't cut and paste and the mac doesn't see me as the admin

Okay so here are my current frustrations and issues:
1. I can't cut and paste anything! Not from emails, not in documents, nothing.
2. I went to make changes in the utilities and when I started, under my name, it said admin and now it says standard and the computer won't allow me to make changes. I try to enter my name and password and the computer says I am not the admin.
3. I can't delete the "test" user and "guest" user because apparantly there is no admin.
I have rebooted using the install disk and I was able to change the passwords but I still can't get in as the admin.
Is there a way to override this before I a) pull out all of my hair, my husbands hair and the hair belonging to my cat and/or b) before I throw the machine out the window and then have another frustration that the unit is not working?!

First back up all your data, if you haven't done so already.
Boot in safe mode (shift key down at startup) and check to see whether the clipboard now works. If it does, reboot as usual (not in safe mode) and try again.
Next, boot in single-user mode by restarting the computer and holding down the Command and S keys at the chime, until you see white text on a black background. Wait for the text to stop scrolling, then follow the instructions on the screen, which will tell you run the fsck and mount commands. Be very, very careful to type the commands correctly. After you enter the mount command, please enter this:
rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone
Then this:
exit
The Mac will now boot up as if for the first time. Go through the setup procedure to create a new admin account with the same name and password as the old one.

The latter is easily accomplished using the Drawing Markup tools, which are available in both the free Adobe Reader, and in Acrobat. Copying/pasting text into the PDF is something that you could do using the editing tools that are available only in Acrobat. Note, however, that Acrobat isn't intended to be a text-editing application, so editing there won't be as robust as in an application designed specifically for that purpose. (It's also worth mentioning that you won't be able to alter a PDF if it has document permissions applied that would prevent you from doing so.)

Cut and Paste between Events not working

Using iPhoto11, I can drag and drop pictures between events, no problem...but Cut and Paste does not work.
I select a photo and cut in event A, go to event B, I right click and get a PAST button, It even clicks but nothing happen, the Cut image never gets pasted.
Is this a bug? whats the solution?

To delete the test user, go to the black apple menu, click on system preferences, then on accounts. From an administrator account, click on the "test" user and hit the "-" key. when the dialog box comes up, hit "delete the home folder" and it will be gone.
For the startup disk issue you should repair permissions. From the finder, click on the "go" menu, then on "utilities". Select disc utility. Select your HD and click on repair disk permissions. This will take several minutes (5 or more).
If that has not done the trick then you may need to reset the parameter ram (PRAM). Turn your computer off. When you turn it back on, simultaneously hold 4 keysL command-option-p-r. Keep holding them. The startup chime will ring. Continue to hold until you have heard the chime at least 2 times (more won't help or hurt). Then release.

Cut and Paste Question

Probably a simple answer, but something I find frustrating; I'm transitioning from Excel to Numbers, and in excel, when you cut and paste, it will automatically delete the row you're cutting from when you paste to the new location (i.e., if I cut the original row 2 and paste it above row 1, I won't have a blank space where the original row 2 used to be).
Can someone explain to me how to do that in numbers? When I cut and paste, it cuts the contents of the cell but leaves the empty cell there instead of automatically deleting it or taking the whole cell with me. It's inconvenient to continually delete the original source cell when the paste is done.

Cut and paste does not work the same. It may be easier for you to simply select the row using the row header (the numbers tha appear when the table is active), and drag the row where you want.
If you want to swap rows 3 and 4, highlight row 4:
then click and hold on the "4" at the very right of the table, then drag above three:
Then release:
In Numbers cut places the contents of the cells you are cutting onto the clipboard, then deleted the content.

Very curious-cannot cut and paste

Well that about says it all. After using Captivate 2 for
about a week, cutting/copying and pasting to my hearts content,
suddenly that option is not available anymore. After rebooting and
bringing up Captivate 2 again I saw that I could paste. (I don't
know what I could paste, I just rebooted and didn't copy anything.)
Choosing paste didn't paste anyting into my slide. After rebooting
a second time I continued to not have copy/cut available and now

Cut and Paste Text in iPhone Email - why can't it be done?!?!

Can anyone tell me why for such an incredible machine, you can't cut and paste text whatsoever in the iPhone applications? It should have been a very somple feature to add. Why in the world can't we do this? every other product in the world allows this for email as an example? Can I load a patch or have I just not found the way to do this?

it's not as simple as that.
they acquired fingerworks & all their multitouch patents in 2005. the recent patent for "thumb & 1 finger" & "thumb & 2 finger" includes cut & paste functions but was filed on january 3, 2007. it was just published on aug 2, last week. they won't release any new functionality to the iphone until the patents are issued, it has been tested in beta trials and their usual funtionality/implimentation/legal assessments.
read AAPL 10-Q for Q3-2007. it stipulates :

say what features should be added, but don't childishly assume it's a low priority to apple. they introduced a new interface & functions that will be lacking in all the other smartphones - visual voicemail, google maps w/ realtime traffic indicator & multitouch. new functionality will be firmware or software updates. try adding a new button to your palm or blackberry.

CUT and PASTE text

I am working on my web pages and for some odd reason I can not cut and paste text on my webpages in dreamweaver anymore??? So strange! I used to be able to just CUT from the internet or from my word docs and PASTE paragraphs on my web pages in a Dreamweaver template. Not anymore? Would anyone know the answer to this?

Doing a quick search of the forums (or even looking at the left hand sidebar to see similar problems), there appears to have been / or is a problem with pasting from Word 2008 on a Mac... does that apply to you?
If you were able to paste previously then, this may help:
A lot of unexplained errors in Dreamweaver are the result of a corrupt cache file or corrupt personal configuration file. Go to the Dreamweaver FAQ, and look up "JavaScript and other unexpected errors". Follow the instructions for deleting the file cache. If that doesn't work, try deleting your personal configuration folder.
