Won't Deliver messages through iMessage

Just recently, the messaging function on my 4th generation iPod Touch began to stop working on occasion. I would be in the middle of a messaging conversation and all of a sudden, my message would not deliver. The message will Send all the way, but the notification that it has been "Delivered" will not drop down to my latest message. The only thing that works is if the other person starts to type, my messages will be forced through. The funny thing is that the messaging will be going fine, and then without moving around or disconnecting from wifi or changing settings or anything like that, my messages just won't Deliver. I have had my iTouch for 8 months now and this problem has never lasted more than an hour or two; not it has been going on for 3 days. I only message one person and neither of us have had this problem before, we didnt recently update our iPods. messaging back and forth has been fine for the last 5 since she got her iPhone 4 but now we cannot figure out what to do.
I have done the usual troubleshoot solutions. I have changed my wifi, turned my iTouch off and back on, changed the DNS settings, turned iMessaging off and on, I never get the little ! Not Delivered sign. All the messaging will be fine for 10 minutes and then spotty for hours and then fine for another 15 minutes. Is there anything else I can do?

Does this happen no matter what Wi-Fi network you are connected to? If you aren't sure, I would test this out on other available Wi-Fi network to see if the problem can be isolated to a particular network or if it's just an issue with the iPod Touch itself.
I noticed a similar thing on my iPhone 4 at time, but the messages still go through even though the screen hasn't given me the delivered message.

  • IMessage on ipad2 won't deliver messages!

I've tried EVERTHING but still get "not delivered" message every time I try to send message via iMessage on iPad. Help please

    Hi,
I had a similar problem with my iPad. I upgraded it to IOS5 and every time I tried to send a message it came up as "Not Delivered". I couldn't even send a message to myself.
Then I changed my DNS address in my iPad Settings for my Wi-Fi to 8.8.8.8 and messages worked fine!
    Hope this helps

  • Queue freezing won't deliver messages to mailboxes

Every now and again my queue seems to build up and won't deliver until I stop and start mail services then flush the queue.
Here is my log, It seems to start filling up right after it refreshed the postfix mail system. I then continually get the message that it was skipped, and will still be delivered. But the messages are not being delivered and people sending messages are getting bounce messages. I've pasted the bounce message below the log.

I'm thinking that this could happen soon after I send out a mass email(50-300 users at once) to one of my postfix email groups. It isn't consistent, because it could happen a few minutes after I send one of those mass mailings, but then it doesn't do it all sometimes either.....
Logs aren't giving me anything other than it will say for the first message that won't deliver (queue active) like seen below. This is everything in the log from a message that would deliver to a message that wouldn't.

  • Delayed text messaging through imessage

I've been having a problem with text messages being delayed through imessage with just one other iphone.  The problem has been going on since last Thursday, 9/4.  I can send texts to the other person and they are recieved promptly, but I do not recieve texts for 1-3 days and then they come all at once.  This is very annoying! We are both in zip code 44256 and both using Verizon.

Being able to send and receive text messages is very important and something that we want to make sure you have the ability to do. Has your phone completed any recent software updates? Are you having any problems sending and receiving text messages to anyone that is not another iPhone user? Let's try resetting the network settings http://vz.to/1ovdCBD to see if that resolves the issue. Please keep us posted.

My iphone 5 that I just got on March 14,2015 will not send or recieve  picture messages through text messaging I can only recieve and send picture messages from  iMessage

    Hi, cymoneW.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I understand that you are unable to send or receive picture messages via the cellular data network.  I would check to make sure that MMS is enable in settings.  This setting is located in Settings > Messages and MMS Messaging.  If the issue persists, try the troubleshooting steps in the article below.
If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

  • Why cant i send messages through imessage or FaceTime it always tells me that there was an error message and it failed

so for a while my macbook air hasnt allowed me to facetime or send messages.. it tells me that the server encountered an error processing registration please try again later.. what could be wrong

This could be a complicated problem to solve, as there are many possible causes for it. Test after taking each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Back up all data before making any changes.
Before proceeding, test on another network, if possible. That could be a public Wi-Fi hotspot, if your computer is portable, or a cellular network if you have a mobile device that can share its Internet connection. If you find that iMessage works on the other network, the problem is in your network or at your ISP, not in your computer.
    Step 1
Check the status of the service. If the service is down, wait tor it to come back up. There may be a localized outage, even if the status indicator is green.
    Step 2
Sign out of iMessage on all your Apple devices. Log out and log back in. Try again to sign in.
    Step 3
Restart your router and your broadband device, if they're separate. You may have to skip this step if you don't control those devices.
    Step 4
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ About This Mac
Below the "OS X" legend in the window that opens, the OS version appears. Click the version line twice to display the serial number. If the number is missing or invalid according to this web form, take the machine to an Apple Store or other authorized service center to have the problem corrected.
    Step 5
Take the steps suggested in this support article. If you don't understand some of the steps or can't carry them out, ask for guidance.
    Step 6
    From the menu bar, select
     ▹ System Preferences ▹ Network
If the preference pane is locked, click the lock icon in the lower left corner and enter your password to unlock it. Then click the Advanced button and select the Proxies tab. If the box marked SOCKS Proxy is checked, uncheck it. You don’t need to change any other settings in the window. Click OK and then Apply. Test.
The result may be that you can't connect to the Internet at all. Revert the change if that happens, or if iMessage still doesn't work. Remember that you must Apply any changes you make in the preference pane before they take effect.
    Step 7
    Select from the menu bar
     ▹ System Preferences… ▹ Flash Player ▹ Storage
    and click
Block all sites from storing information on this computer
    Close the preference pane.
    Step 8
Make sure you know the ID and password you use with iMessage. Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Use the search box in the toolbar of the Keychain Access window to find and delete all items with "iMessage" or "com.apple.idms" in the name. Log out and log back in.
    Step 9
Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.”
While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin.
Test while logged in as Guest. After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it.
*Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing.
If iMessage worked in the guest account, stop here and post your results.
    Step 10
Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you start up, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. After testing, restart as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and test again.
If iMessage worked in safe mode, but still doesn't work when you restart in "normal" mode, stop here and post your results.
    Step 11
    Reset the NVRAM.
    Step 12
    Reinstall OS X.
    Step 13
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store, or contact Apple Support.

  • Mac Mail won't send messages through some accounts

For many weeks I've had to use gmail because Mac mail won't let me go through either my business server or my personal website. I can send if I just use the browser so I know they are working. I've tried various addresses for my out going mail- nothing. I've gone into preferences and disabled those accounts, quit mail, then reenabled them again- still nothing.
My secretary is having the same problem on her Mac mini. Any suggestions?

I've encountered this issue too and I believe it may be an ISP issue. When I set up a new internet provider at my home I was at first unable to send business mail from home. Eventually I solved the problem by calling the ISP and they either made an adjustment or had me change some obscure setting on my computer or modem (it's been so long I can't remember exactly what it was). I still sometimes run into this problem when I take my laptop elsewhere. One way to check and see if this is the issue for you (if you have a laptop) is to take your computer to a coffee shop or some other place with wifi and see if you can send out mail using your business address from there. You also might want to check and see whether you are able to send mail to other addresses within your organization, or whether the inability to send email is across the board. I mention that because I seem to remember that I ran into an issue of some servers being unwilling to forward email that comes from outside to another address that is outside. So if you try to send an email from home, using your business address, to an address outside of your business, it may reject it, while accepting an address within the business.
Hope this helps and please bear in mind that I'm no expert at all.

  • Messages on my MacBook Air won't send messages over iMessage. Anyone know how to fix this?

In preferences, under accounts, it claims that my Apple iD is hooked up to messages, including my phone number and email address...yet it isn't sending messages they always fail. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? It would be a great help.

Read this whole message before doing anything.
    Back up all data.
    Quit Messages if it’s running.
    Step 1
Hold down the option key and select
    Go ▹ Library
from the Finder menu bar. Move the following items from the Library folder to the Trash (either may not exist):
    Caches/com.apple.Messages
    Caches/com.apple.imfoundation.IMRemoteURLConnectionAgent
Leave the Library folder open. Log out and log back in. Try Messages again. If it works now, stop here. Close the Library folder.
    Step 2
If you still have problems, quit Messages again. Go back to the Finder and move the following item from the open Library folder to the Desktop:
    Messages
Note: you are not moving the Messages application. You’re moving a folder named “Messages.”
Test. If Messages now works, delete the Messages folder on the Desktop. Otherwise, quit Messages again. Put back the folder you moved, overwriting the newer one that may have been created in its place, and continue.
    Step 3
In the Preferences subfolder, there may be several files having names that begin with "com.apple.iChat". Move them all to the Desktop. There may also be a file with the name "com.apple.imagent.plist". Move that to the Trash.
Also in the Preferences folder, there's a subfolder named "ByHost". Open it and do the same thing.
Log out and log back in. Test again. This time Messages should perform normally, but your settings will be lost. You may be able to put back some of the files you moved to the Desktop in this step. Relaunch and test after each one. Eventually you should find one or more that causes Messages to malfunction. Delete those files and recreate whatever settings they contained.
If the issue is still not resolved, quit Messages again and put all the items you moved to the Desktop back where they were. You don’t need to replace the items you moved to the Trash. Stop here and post again.
If you later decide that you don’t like the results of steps 2 and 3, you can undo them completely by quitting Messages and restoring the items you deleted in those steps from your backup.

  • Mail.app on Snow Leopard won't retrieve messages through POP3

    Hi.
I've just recently upgraded to Snow Leopard. I managed to setup a Gmail IMAP account which worked fine. Then I tried to setup POP accounts of my GoDaddy hosting/email plan. The setup seemed to finish without problems but when I hit the "Get mail" button... Nothing happens. And I mean "nothing". No error, no notice, no downloaded messages, nothing. I can't even send email using their smtp servers.
Anyone has any idea what might be wrong?
    Thank you.

'Nothing' usually means the connection to the server is ok, but no mail is ready to be retrieved or sent.
Confirm you can ping those servers and that mail is waiting to be pulled, etc. then trash & redo the connections again - restart your computer and see if it works.
If still now joy, try this - find the /Library/Preferences folder in your user/Home folder and then locate and delete this file:
    com.apple.mail.plist
*Caution* - doing this may clear your account settings so be sure to note those first in the event you are required to reconfigure, etc.

  • My iPhone 5 will not send mms through iMessage, any help?

I have recently been abroad and since returning to the UK, my phone will not send pictures over iMessage, I never had this problem before travelling. I have my wifi switched on and I have checked my send and receive settings. I can receive picture messages through iMessages but cannot send them. The person I am sending them too has an iPhone and has their iMessage turned on, I have checked my updates and my phone does not need updating, I can not think of anything else it could be. I have also checked and I am able to send them through text just not iMessage. Any suggestions would be great!

Yes I have turned imessage off a number of times and that does not seem to he doing the trick, and it is not delivering them then I have to press on the photo and either chose try again or send as text message, I have had the setting on to not allow sending pictures as texts (so they can only send as imessage) since I got my phone in January and it has always worked until now, I have turned that off to allow me to send them as picture messages now but it's still not working over iMessage, I have also tried it using 3G and not wifi

  • Why isnt my mac sending pictures through imessage

    Hey,
Why isn't my MacBook Pro sending pictures through iMessages?
    Please help!
    Thanks

Only Apple devices can receive messages sent through iMessages.  Your iPhone will only send a message through iMessages if it already knows that the other end of the connection is an iPhone and can receive such messages.  This is because a message sent through iMessages to a phone that could not receive it would just disappear without either of you knowing why.
You can specifically chose to use iMessages to send a message to the other person's phone.  Once the message has been received by the other end both ends will know that the other end is an iPhone and they will use iMessages by default in future.

  • Is there a way in which you can deliver messages only through iMessages and not text messages .  If the other iphone user has switched off the data services then the message gets delivered when the user switches on the data services.

I want messages to be delivered to the other person only through iMessages . Is there a way to disable text messages being sent to the other iphone .

In message settings, disable the send as SMS setting. That does mean any message sent to a non-iMessage enabled device will just not get sent.
