Won't enter hdd recovery mode

I have a Tecra A2-s336 model that won't enter recovery mode when I hold 0 during the power up. It flashes *hdd recover mode* (or something like that, it's really fast) then boots right into window. I've checked the recovery partition and it seems to be fine and "healthy".  Is there something else I need to do? I simply want to restore it to factory settings.

Tecra A2-S336
Apparently, your recovery partition is not in good shape.
Can you make recovery discs? See the section Creating Recovery CDs/DVDs on p. 63 of the User's Guide.

  • HDD Recovery Mode not working

I have a Toshiba Netbook (NB205-N330BL) that will not start.  It shows the Toshiba splash screen then goes directly to a command prompt screen, but will not allow you to type anything at the prompt.
I tried entering HDD recovery mode by holding down zero(0) during startup.  The netbook will not go beyond the splash screen unless I release the '0' key briefly and press again, then it goes to a command prompt screen with "***** HDD RECOVERY MODE *****" displayed at the bottom of the screen, but will still not allow you to type anything at the prompt and will not respond to any other keys.
Am I doing something wrong? How do I get from there to the warning screen described in the user manual?

    Hi there lsnowden!
I have a couple of articles here that I believe will help you resolve this issue with your Mac. The first article addresses a few different startup issues that can be solved by using Disk Utility, and can be found here:
Resolve startup issues and perform disk maintenance with Disk Utility and fsck

If you only get a grey screen on startup and can't get past that, then you may want to check out this article as well:

  • McBook 2011 shuts down when want to enter to recovery mode

Hello everybody, I got a problem with my Mcbook `11 recovery mode , I wanna enter to recovery mode but it gets shut down before I do. there is no problem when OS starts up but for recovery mode I have this problem.
I appreciate your help. Thank U

After toyin around a bit more, I managed to attempt to mount the boot dmg on the RHD. The follow happened:
This confims to me that my boot dmg is corrupted. However I wanted to rule away the option of the firmware password, and hence mounted the dmg with no verification. Using this I was able to sucessfully remove the firmware password. After rebooting I got indeed not prompted for a password when holding alt. The problem with my RHD however persisted.

  • My iPod touch won't go into recovery mode

I have a first generation iPod touch, with a slightly broken home button (I have to press it really hard to work).I had just erased the memory off of it, and it had rebooted. As it starts up, it keeps getting stuck on a screen with an Apple logo, wth a loading circle below. The circles spins for a few seconds and then stops.  I have tried hard reset (home and power button). I have also tried home and power button for ten seconds, and then just home button for ten seconds. I have tried that numerous times, while in iTunes, and while out of it. I really need some help, as it has no warranty left, so I cannot return it.
    Thanks in return,
P.S I really would apprecciate any help.

  • HT201263 what happens if my iphone won't go into recovery mode?

I tried to update to the new software, but for some reason it did not complete the install and has left my phone in a state of "plug phone into itunes".  I have tried getting my phone into restore mode, using the instructions on the Apple site, and it is still in "plug into itunes" mode and itunes still does not detect the phone.  Without going to an Apple store on superbowl sunday, can anyone help me?

Try to restore it from DFU mode as follows:
    Reboot your computer
    Disable your antivirus and firewall
Connect the USB cable to a USB port directly on your computer, not a hub - do not connect the other end of the cable yet
Launch iTunes, making sure you have the latest version (11), or at least 10.7
Hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons on your iPhone for EXACTLY 10 seconds, until the screen goes black, then release the SLEEP button but continue holding the HOME button - If an Apple logo appears you have held too long; do it again
Connect the cable to the phone while holding HOME
iTunes should recognize a phone in Recovery mode. When it does release the HOME button and wait
Don't touch your computer or phone until the restore completes or you get an error message; ignore any other displays or messages on the phone.
If you get an error message post it for analysis. Include the error number.

  • IPad stuck on loading screen, won't move to recovery mode.

I tried to restore my iPad but it got stuck on the loading screen and it didn't change for 6 hours. I tried restarting it a couple of times - it showed me the normal apple logo but then it went back to the loading screen. The computer doesn't respond to the iPad and i hadn't been able to put in on recovery mode.
How do i turn my iPad back on? I don't mind stuff being deleted.

    Hi zafr1212,
Welcome to the Support Communities!  The resource below will provide the steps to put your iPad into recovery mode.
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201263
    Use recovery mode
You might need to use recovery mode to restore your device in these cases:
iTunes doesn't recognize your device or says it's in recovery mode.
You see the Apple logo onscreen for several minutes with no progress bar.
You see the Connect to iTunes screen.
Learn what to do if you see the progress bar onscreen for several minutes.
To put your device into recovery mode, follow these steps:
Turn off your device and leave it off.
Plug in your device's USB cable to a computer with iTunes.
Hold down the Home button on your device as you connect the USB cable. Keep holding down the Home button until you see the Connect to iTunes screen.
When you see this screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 again.
When your device is connected, iTunes will open. You'll see a message saying that iTunes has detected an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch in recovery mode.
Use iTunes to restore your device. Restoring in recovery mode will erase your device. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you might be able to restore from your backup.Get more help
Learn what to do if you don't see your device in iTunes for OS X, or in iTunes for Windows.
If you put your device into recovery mode by mistake, restart it. Or you can wait 15 minutes and your device will exit recovery mode by itself.
