Won't google search when one word is written in address bar.

Previously when I typed one word or more in the address bar, it would do a google search. Now when I enter one word and press enter it takes me to a while page with the following message on it:
502 Bad Gateway
nginx/1.3.7
It does the google search when I type more than one word.

Hi zuesuep, can you confirm that two-word searches work correctly? If you get the same error for both, reset the value of keyword.URL as described in this article: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/search-web-address-bar#w_changing-the-internet-keyword-service
To summarize:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste '''keyword''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Right-click '''keyword.URL''' and choose Reset. Then test again in the other tab.

Hello I Can't get my tab to go back to my google search when click on a link, says (aproximately) for securiety can be seen cause unencripted, do you want to continue, security warning. How to fix this? It is annoying. this expecially happens when I am searching for information on how to solve a problem like this and I click on a link and it turns out to be someone selling a fix. It wipes out my ability to go back and leave the page.
the dropdown arrow after the URL, after the star and before the refresh circle/arrow contains old history but not recent history.

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.

I have lost my Safari url bar ,tried view/customise toolbar but when box opens there is no address bar to drag back can anyone help please

I noticed a couple of days ago that my url bar on my imac was no longer there,I am new to the apple community and I am not sure how to progress with my qustion. I have tried selecting :- view / customise toolbar but the dropdown box which has various options to drag and drop does not show the address bar I am stuck can you help

Search for one word in the adress bar with google when proxy is enabled.

I have downloaded Firefox Version 30 and set up my company proxy. I use the address bar to search at google. Since I have configured the proxy I'm not able to search for only one word like 'fibonacci', if I search for 'fibonacci number' it still works.
What's wrong?

You can use a keyword search to search via the location bar if the proxy doesn't report that a DNS look up has failed and Firefox thus doesn't send a search request.
You can add a keyword to an installed search engine via Manage Search Engines if you click the search engines icon on the search bar.

Won't Google search single word in address bar

Whenever I type in more than one word in the address bar it does a Google search, but whenever I type in a single word it takes me to http://domainnotfound.optimum.net with an error.
I've tried the following fixes that I found on this forum and nothing has worked:

Why have my bookmarks been turned into Bing Searches for those sites? Why do I get a Bing Search when I manually type in the address?

Ever since I installed FireFox 4, I seem to have lost the function of my bookmarks. They simply open up Bing Searches for those sites. I don't even like Bing, why does it keep getting installed into my Firefox?
When I type in the address manually into the address bar (NOT the search bar), I get a Bing Search for the address as well.

I think an add-on has hijacked your browser. If this started with Firefox 4, are you sure you installed the official package from http://www.mozilla.com/ ?

Does running Firefox without add-ons fix it?
If so, you could disable them all and then gradually restore the ones that are most valuable to you.

How do I get back my small icon for one click completion of my name and address etc. I lost it when I got back my web address bar

I was getting frustrated that I had no address bar to put in an address and go straight to the page, but in restoring that I have lost my small icon which I clicked on when I wanted to complete all my personal data on the many sites such as the council, shopping sites etc. It used to fill in my name, address, telephone number, email address, etc. It was a small square firefox icon. When I am typing in the address bar, the cursor disappears after 15 or so characters and I have to reclick on the bar to continue typing.. why?

Sometimes it seems like it is prompted by some type of reload as the cursor turns into the blue circle before disappearing. I am not hitting any strange keys or doing anything with the mouse.

How to get the correct result when I access mxml file in address bar in IE?

os: windows xp
web server: tomcat 5.5
lcds version: 2.6
One week ago, I installed lcds2.5 in my coumputer. At that time, when I type address http://localhost/lcds/test.mxml in address bar of Internet Explorer, the web server return the result of test.swf.
I upgraded lcds from 2.5 to 2.6 this morning, and then when I type http://localhost/lcds/test.mxml in IE address bar again, the server return the source code of text.mxml in the web page, which is not I expected.
Why the web server don't handle the *.mxml file like in lcds2.5? How can I resolve this problem?

How can I get Firefox to include the http when copying and pasting from the address bar?

I know you can use "browser.urlbar.trimURLs" in about:config to re-enable the display of "http://" on URLs in the address bar, but I think there's an actual bug with hiding them in the address bar that should be corrected:
When I click and drag in the address bar to select part of an address, including the beginning of the address, then use CTRL+C to copy it, and CTRL+V to paste it into something else, the pasted URL does not include "http://"; this is often inconvenient and will break in certain forms and so on.
In Chrome--where I guess the http-hiding feature was copied from--if you click and drag to select part of the URL including the beginning, then copy, when you paste, the "http://," hidden in their address bar, *is* included. That's how it *should* work. Firefox's implementation is incomplete and frustrating.

This is a known problem and should be fixed in Firefox 8.

if there's no Reader button, it usually means Safari has decided it's not suitable for the Reader feature.
try http://lab.arc90.com/experiments/readability/ : assuming that you do see the Reader button there, then your Safari seems to be working correctly, and the readability bookmarklet may prove useful.

"Internet Tethering" won't stop searching when set to "Airplane Mode"

I recently went abroad to Brazil and I set up my iPhone in Airplane mode, I notice that "INTERNET TETHERING" was constantly "SEARCHING" and in turn shortening my iphone's battery life.
I went to the Apple store and show them an I was told " NO it won't use up your battery life..." I know my phone and when I had it on version 3 I didn't have this issue.

No, works fine. Although its not the best alternative, because my method allows to "specify" the zooming region (due to the mouse position)

I did do a reset, but it didn't influence the "bad" behavior.

None that I know of. Couldn't find any. But if so, shouldn't it affect the zooming in as well (which isn't the case)?

I tried both: enabled it causes the mentioned "error" behavior. Disabled the zoom out stops but its remarkably unresponsive: Once I use the key combination and click the left-mouse-btn it takes seconds before the zoom out happes; the process _feels_ quite long.
