Won't install my extension
I have tried multiple times to install an extension. It looks like it is working but it doesn't finish. There is no error message it just doesn't show up in the extension manager. Any ideas? I am on a Mac and using CS5.
Please follow the instructions in http://forums.adobe.com/message/4275082#4275082 to generate log files and send the log files to [email protected] Please change all "CS6" to "CS5" when you follow the instructions.

Adobe Exchange download won't install in Extension Manager CC - no valid certificate.
I've been struggling to load the Adobe Exchange download into Extension Manager CC. It won't install due to it having 'No valid certificate'. Is there a fix for this?
Please click "Tools"->"Preferences" menu item in Extension Manager, uncheck "Allow Extension Manager to access Internet" option, then retry.

Installing the CS Extension panel with the wrong date set on computer - won't install
Hi!
I (with the help of my customers) noticed an interesting behavior of the Extension Manager - when the date is wrong on the computer, the panel won't install giving all sorts of errors, but the correct one. It's cool, that it's happening, because of security - I can understand that. But it's not so cool, that the error that is being displayed is not about wrong time set. The users who install the panel receive "an invalid extension", or "wrong publusher" message and they think that the panel they downloaded is invalid, not the time on their own computers. Is it possible to fix this behavior? It's a serious usability issue, I think, that prevents users from using the CS Extension panels.
Thank youHi, ddmiles1 -
Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
When I try to install from the Instalation disc it begins with the "Classic is starting" window.
That, and the other messages, indicate you are trying to run the installer on the OS 9.2.1 Install CD while the machine is booted to OSX on the hard drive.
That won't work. What is happening is that when you run the installer on the CD, since it is an OS 9-only program OSX tries to start up Classic, using the only available OS 9 System Folder, the one on the CD. However, before that System Folder could be used as Classic it must be updated by OSX - OSX must add a few files to it so that it can be used as Classic. This can't happen, of course, since the CD can not be written to.
The installer on all stand-alone OS 9 Install CDs will run only when the machine is booted to OS 9. You will first need to boot the machine to the CD, then run the installer. To do that, with the CD in the drive, restart; then immediately press the C key, keep it held down until you get the OS 9 Welcome screen.
It may be that your machine will not be able to boot to that CD. Conditions that could cause that are -
• the CD is not a retail OS 9.2.1 Install CD (those have a white label with a large gold 9 on them). If the CD is a model-specific one, and is for a model other than your specific iBook model, it willprobably not be able to be used.
• your iBook G3 is too new a model to be able to use OS 9.2.1. Many iBook G3 models originally came with OS 9.2.2 - and that then is the minimum OS 9 version that they can use; specifically, those machines require the model-specific version of OS 9.2.2 that came with them. This Apple KBase article can help you determine the Apple designation for your model -
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=88039
This Apple KBase article gives the minimum OS 9 versions that can be used for various Mac models -

Firefox 10.0
Started up Firefox right after Mint was installed. On the add-ons page video download helper was shown as a featured extension and I installed it, then rebooted when prompted. After that, Firefox would never install another extension again. Just gives download error.
I google searched and in a forum I found a post about uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox. I tried it. First time I started it up, it installed video download helper again, but then would not install any other extension after that. I tried numerous extensions I '''KNOW''' are working in Firefox 10.0 because they are working in Firefox over on my Win 7. Everytime I get a download error, either from the addons site or from the Add-ons Manager in Firefox.
Someone told me on the Mint forums that I needed to add a subdirectory on a certain directory, so I did that. Didn't work.
It seems Ubuntu disables the root, or cripples it, and I guess Mint does too. You can still use sudo when doing things in Ubuntu (and Mint I would assume, since it's based on Ubuntu) but you can't get true 'superuser' access as I understand it. But, I don't think this would have any bearing on the problem, or my search of the Mint forums would have come up with all kinds of threads screaming about this.Problem solved - it was caused by an add-on called "PDF Download 3.0.0.2)
To fix - in Firefox :
Click on '''Tools''' command (top of screen)
Select '''Extensions'''
click on "'''disable''' button beside '''PDF Download'''
Close Firefox and restart it.
Clicking on any pdf file should open a new tab now and the document will appear there. -

Latest Firefox (23.0.1) won't install
Firefox crashed (not uncommon) so I went through the restart routine.
It decided to install the latest version, got as far as "Checking Compatibility of Add Ons" and sat with the 'scanning green bar' sliding happily grpm end to end.
After 6 hours I gave up, did a CTRL-Alt-Del and it said it wasn't responding when I tried to close it.
tried several times, all with the same result.
I Googled "Firefox won't install" and ended up deleting the Firefox folder in Program files (there go my add ons and everything else), manually downloaded, manually started the install...
Exactly the same result...!!!
Win XP, SP3, Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo 3000
Troubleshooting Information doesn't work as I'm having to use Chrome...I'm getting very confused (but I'm in my 60s and am not a techie, so maybe it's to be expected...
I can't "Cancel the operation of checking the plugins" as the CANCEL button does nothing. The only way I can do that is with Windows Program Manager, where it tells me that it's "Not Responding" so I "End Task" and finally it shuts down.
If I then run the Profile Manager, absolutely nothing happens...
"If the Profile Manager window does not open, Firefox may have been running in the background, even though it was not visible. Close all instances of Firefox or restart the computer and then try again."
As far as I can see, at this point in the proceedings, Firefox isn't running - it's not showing anywhere and I have no idea how to find it if it is 'in the background'.
I'd really like to retain the Bookmarks and Passwords, and probably some other things I don't understand, if I can (it's an old age/memory problem - all the important birthdays were in ReminderFox for example), so I have created a backup copy of the profiles folder on a memory stick in hope...
Within Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\uxbwtgou.default, there are five extensions files - extensions.ini, extensions.log, extensions.rdf, extensions.sqlite and extensions.sqlite-journal...
Do I delete all of these?

Adobe flash 11.6.602.180 won't install
This version of Adobe flash: 11.6.602.180
from here:
http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.edu.html
Won't install (at least on Windows 7), unlike all previous revisions.
What can be done?
I get this error:
Error 1722: There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup
did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Action NewCustomAction1.
location: ....\AppData\Local\Temp\InstallPlugin_11_6_602_180exe.
command: -install -msi
[This latter command, is something it must generate internally. I install the msi download like so:
msiexec /i <Pathtodownloads>/install_flash_player_11_plugin.msi /quiet /passive /qb /norestart /l+* %systemdrive%\log\flash.log
There doesn't seem to be a way to contact Adobe itself about this product problem.
Since these updates are usually security fixes, it seems like a bad thing to roll back.]

Adobe AIR won't install Mac OS 10.8.2
I'm trying to install Muse and/or a Dreamweaver Extension from a Creative Cloud account and it won't install because of a problem with AIR. I've tried installing AIR through the Muse dialogue and it crashes the installer. I've also tried to install AIR (version 3.5) directly from the Adobe site, downloading the installer separately from the Muse dialogue and recieve the below error message. What is the problem? I keep deleting old versions of Muse and Air, restarting and it's still the same problem.
HELP!

Design Premium 5.5 won't install, need for class!
This is pretty urgent as I need this to install for a course I am currently taking for college.
It installed fine before, but I uninstalled a few things from my PC and was having some problems with Adobe and uninstalled it as well.
So when I try to re-install it, it won't install... says something about UI parent? all the details below...
XP Home (32)
Reason why I uninstalled it because when I would have Foxit Reader open or my MS Word Docs open, any Adobe products menus and saves would not work. If any of the programs were open, Ctrl+Shift+S would not work to save as, simple save will not work. I need all of these programs to be open for my courses and so I tried uninstalling/reinstall, but I'm having issues reinstalling.
Any help or suggestions would be immensely appreciated!!

It didn't work for me however
But I did find something that solved my situation. For some reason the suite didn't uninstall Adobe Reader Pro even if it came with the suite and had to manually uninstall that. After that, everthing installed fine .
That is probably a noob's common mistake is not uninstalling everything :/
I really appreciate your response though, Mylenium. -
Adobe PDF Writer (v5.0) won't install; can't find LPT1 port
I've searched extensively for an answer on this question, and the most common answer is no answer or use a newer PDF creator.
The department I support uses database software that was never programmed to support any PDF creator past PDF Writer, so all users of this software have Acrobat Professional 5.0.5 installed using the "Custom" option to include the PDF Writer.
All workstations run XP, sp3. I have never seen this problem on any other machine. I have installed version 5 on other machines with newer installations of Acrobat (7,8, and 9) with no functionality issues. The machine that won't install the PDF Writer had V8 installed. I have removed Acrobat V8 to try to get the V5 installation to run. I have tried running the V5 installation first without PDF Writer, and then adding in the PDF Writer.
In all cases, as soon as you click "Install" after checking "PDF Writer", the error "Acrobat PDF Writer requires a LPT1: printer port. Setup could not find this required port. The PDF Writer component will not be installed. To install PDF Writer, add a LPT1: port and run setup again" always appears, and the installation tries to continue without the PDF Writer.
This computer has a fully-functioning LPT1 port (as well as LPT2 and LPT3) which is not in use by any other printers (according to the printer properties display). XP shows the port under Device Manager as functioning properly, although I have both disabled/re-enabled the port, as well as uninstalling it and rebooting, at which point it re-installs properly.
All high-priority Windows XP updates are current and again, on similar machines, similarly imaged, I have never had this problem using the same media. I have tried installing a printer on this port and adding drivers. All machine users have Administrator privileges (unfortunately)
Due to the large quantity of data and software on this user's machine (and the fact that otherwise it runs great), I would REALLY rather not re-image the machine.
Any help or ideas will be GREATLY appreciated.Hey, good idea, and I hadn't done it, but nothing is remaining from any previous Acrobat installs (according to the Cleanup Utility). I do pretty good registry cleanup on these machines as I work on them for other reasons/updates.

Adobe acrobat downloads but won't install
I have downloaded a trial version of Acrobat repeatedly -- but after it shows the download is complete, it won't install. I have tried this on Firefox, Chrome, and IE -- same result with all 3 browsers. Any suggestions?
what file (name and extension) did you download and what's the file size shown on your hd?
also, what are you clicking or doing and what do you see? -

ACR 5.6 won't install on my XP 32-bit using the .exe installer.
Is there an option to get the camera raw.8bi file to install manually somnewhere? Have the Canon 7D and would like to be able to use the Adobe converter. To accomplish a manual install on Windows you can copy and rename the file:
your-unzip-location-for-ACR56RC1\extensions\AdobeCameraRaw5.0All-121109114152\Assets\1003
to camera raw.8bi and put it in the directory previously mentioned. The clue this is the right file is that it is about the right size as the existing Camera RAW.8bi but slightly larger.
What you can't install by this procedure are all the camera-specific profiles for newly supported cameras in this version. You would probably need to install the LR 2.6 RC or maybe the DNG Converter 5.6 RC to get those. For your 7D these would be the ones beyond the Beta that ACR 5.5 had. -
EXCHANGE won't connect in Extension Mgr
I'm having the following problems.
1. Extension Manager wouldn't 'install' a couple of extensions into Photoshop last night. I can see them in the Extension Manager and they are "enabled', but won't install into the Photoshop/presets/tools, etc.
2. I couldn't get it to work, so I uninstalled the program and then went to Adobe and reinstalled Extension Manager. Now Extension Manager's "Exchange" button nor the " File/Go to Adobe Exchange" will even connect.
3. I've uninstalled and installed several times and still nothing.
Anyone have any suggestions? I've tried all the "help" buttons on the product, but -- needless to say -- they don't help at all. There isn't anything there about troubleshooting and trying to get any help from Adobe is useless. I typically have to go to other web forums to find answers to problems with Adobe. You would think a company that seemly puts out useful products would be more intune to the issues and problems their customers have. With that said, if there are any development companies out thinking about building similar software, if great support were provided, you'd have a gold mine of customers. I'd switch in a heartbeat!
I'm running Windows 7 Home Edition and have Adobe CS5.5. I'm currently trying to connect with Explorer, but have also tried Chrome. I'm very frustrated at how difficult this is to try to figure out why it's not working! Any suggestions would be appreciated.Yes, those are the exact extensions he's using and that I tried to install
using Extension Manager. They wouldn't install via Extension Manager, so I
put them into Photoshop's directory on my C drive in the Presents File and
then into each respective category. They aren't showing in the actual
Photoshop application when I click on the Preset Tool, but I can load them
manually using the LOAD button. Maybe it's a problem with hos these
particular presents were developed, I don't know.
The EXCHANGE button in Extensions Manager doesn't do anything when I click
on it. It turns 'orange', but that's it. It doesn't respond at all.
I very happy to hear that support is being improved. Adobe has great
products, but when there's a problem, it's extremely difficult to get help.
Also, the on-line manuals aren't very beginner/user friendly. I actually
printed down the entire manual for Fireworks and thought I'd be able to
figure out how to do some things using the manual. It was so difficult to
understand -- lack of examples, screen prints, etc. -- that I've found
Lynda.com and some other on-line sources to be much better. Even YouTube
has some videos that help explain things better. Maybe Adobe could contract
with Lynda.com and use their info and then take what they do and put it into
a step-by-step manual. That's really the only thing Lynda.com is missing is
the step-by-step printed info in manual format. They have the transcripts
available, but a printed "how-to" would be much appreciated. I think
Lynda.com has some direct connection to Adobe because they're authors
certainly seem to fully understand these products and what they can and
can't do. I pay monthly for Lynda on their premium plan so I can download
the exercise files and it's well worth it. If Adobe had something similar
where you could pay a small fee (i.e., $25 to $40) a month for even directly
e-mail or on-line chat for problems, I'd sign up. The current support
system seems very expensive and there's no indication on how good it is. I
had mentioned before how good Concrete5's on-line forum is for getting
help -- they're free source, but they're really good. Just some thoughts.
Again, thank you for taking the time to look at this. It's great to have
the Adobe Exchange, but it does seem difficult to actually get the items
into the applicable programs and get them working. Seems like a lot of
steps. I think one of the most confusing that I've been reading in forums
is that the exchange items are all zipped and I had initially thought that
they would drop into the Extension Manager in zip format and then extension
manager would unzip them, but I guess I was wrong. I've now found I need to
unzip them, save and then use the 'install' on extension manager. If that's
even correct.
Maybe some step-by-step with screen prints that we could print off the Adobe
site on how to actually do this step-by-step. I'm sure once you 'know' what
you're doing and doing it a couple of times, it's really simple. But
getting to the 'simple' has not been so simple. -Missy
