Won't let me register my ipod

just got the ipod nano, installed iTunes, and when i click on my iPod under "devices", the "let's get started' screen shows up, BUT - there isn't a bar to scroll left or right, only down, so the only button i see is 'register later'.
with the iTunes window in fullscreen, i can only see
1. register you ipod
2. Set up your store accoun
-i can't see past the n, that's where the screen cuts off...and no ammount of begging or hitting things will let me scroll over. i imagine that the option to register is just beyond my reach, in the area i can't see?
it's such a random problem, i have no idea what to do, and i think not being able to register is what's keeping me from being able to sync and put music on the ipod.

....wow, that was really easy. i had no idea i could so that. shame on me. thanks! ^_^

  • I was given an older ipod as a gift and want to load the songs into my computer, but it says that I can not access the sync feature.  I registered for an Apple ID and when I tried it won't let me register.

When I was given the iPod it had a GREAT load of songs already on it. (That was part of the whole "gift" thing.)  I want to sync it and create playlists in my own library and copy the songs to my computer's library too.  I applied for an Apple ID, and find that this is so old that eventhough it was NEVER registered it is listed under a weird username and won't let me register as the new owner to access the music and sync.  What do I do?  It is an older version (I'm assuming) with 80G and only 25 have been used.  I can't access the music already loaded and don't want to lose the mp3 files I have in my existing library now too.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Not sure if this helps:-
The music files, were they bought from your iTunes account or did someone gift them to you after buying from the iTunes account? If they are yours you can download them again if you clear or de-authorise the ipod, it has to be done by whoever gave you the ipod to do this (the registered  owner). If they were bought for you on another itunes account I don't think Apple let you use them as they are copyrighted and they don't belong to you, they belong to the person who bought them. If the music files where ripped from music cd's then click and drag them to a new folder on your desktop and have the person who gave you the ipod to de-authorise and unregister it. Then you re register it and put your files back from your desktop folder in your iTunes folder and synch. Hopefully that would work.  Any files which you did not buy, I would not know how get around this, best bet is to take it to you nearest Apple  Store and explain that they were gifted to you and ask how you can use them.  The best way to gift music files is to buy the gift tokens and give these. Hope above helps.

  • Have done the iOS 5 update and lost some of my apps now can't get them back and won't let me register my wife's card on my account

Have done the iOS 5 update and lost half of my apps won't let me get them back and won't let me register my wife's card on my account as I don't use credit or debit cards
    <Edited by Host>

    Relax, nobody's ripping you off...
Apps are tied to the Apple ID you purchased them on and not the device so getting them all back is easy so long as you know the account details. To reinstall the apps just use the App Store and use the original Apple ID (account) that was used to purchase them, then re-install.  If you setup a new Apple ID on your device when you initialized iOS 5 then go into the App Store app and change the account back to the one that was there before. Then go to update > Not on this iPhone and start installing...

  • My computer won't let me sync my iPod touch 4th generation

My computer isn't/won't let me sync my iPod touch 4th generation. I'm trying to upload photos from my computer (laptop, HP/Windows 7).
iTunes keeps asking me to authorize my computer, it will authorize it, but it will ask the same question and for my Apple information again.
It will let me get to step 3/5 of the syncing process but if I hit the X and close out, it will terminate/end the process. I've only synced this one
    computer. Any advice?
    -InnocentD3mon

It doesn't freeze, it just asks for my Apple ID and password. It'll repeatedly pop up and ask, even if my computer is already synced. When I close out of the login/sync request it terminates the syncing process.
When it's listed at the 3/5 in the syncing process, it says "Transferring Purchases from 'xxxx's iPod touch' (Step 3 of 5)"

  • If I bought an iPod and iPhone from someone and It isn't registered on my account what do I do? It won't let me register it because, the person that previously owned it has it registered. and I bought it online so I don't know the person.

I bought an iPhone and 2 iPod touch's now the 3rd from a stranger, but since it was registered on someone else's name I cannot register them, The iPhone got stolen and so did 2 of my iPod touch's I bought one from Wal-Mart and it is registered, Tried tracking it but who ever has it needs to connect to the internet on it to be able to be tracked. Now my iPhone 4 I bought off someone it was not connected or nothing but I DID purchase things on it and It wont track on iCloud, I Need to Track it It's registered but it wont show up on iCloud and My Ipod that I Have Now Can't Be Registered because its registered on someone else's account.

Registering the iPod has nothing to do with FindMyiPod/iPhone working. See the following for get the Find to work
iCloud: Troubleshooting Find My iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, or Mac
Also, restoring the iPod means that you can no longer locate/contact the iPod via FindMyiPod.
Registering is not necessary and I would not worry about it.

  • Itunes reinstalled, won't let me put my ipod songs back in

I had trouble with my pc, I had to uninstall itunes. Then I reinstalled it a few days later. But now when I plug my ipods (3 total) it wants to erase all the songs, pictures, books, ext. and sync with the new itunes.
How can I get past erasing all the "stuff" on my ipods, and download it all back into itunes?
My daughters have songs on the ipods that are from scratched up cd's now, so I can not reload them. And they have pictures of friends and we have no way of getting those pictures back.
Thanks ahead of time for any help.

1). Connect your iPod to your computer. When you get the message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod.
2). When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you continue to use your iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it. Check the "manually manage music and videos" box in Summary then press the Apply button. Also when using most of the utilities listed below your iPod needs to be enabled for disc use, changing to manual update will do this by default: Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
3). Once you are connected and your iPod is safely in manual mode there are a few things you can do to restore your iTunes from the iPod. iTunes will only let you copy your iTunes Store purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
TuneJack Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
SharePod Windows Only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    iPod2PC Windows Only
    iDump Windows Only
    YamiPod Mac and Windows
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows
    Floola Mac & Windows
iPodRip Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Music Liberator Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
Music Rescue Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iGadget Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide
If you have full resolution copies of the photos on the iPod have a look here: Apple Knowledge Base article - Use Disk Mode to copy photos from iPod
If not, there are a few programs out there for recovering photos from an iPod, have a look at the ones below. If you search the internet you can find more. Just be aware that what you'll be recovering will be photos optimised for the iPod so they won't be the same quality as the original full resolution versions:
    iPodPhotoCopy Windows only
    CopyPodPhoto Windows only
Tansee iPod Transfer Photo Windows only
iPod Photo Liberator Mac & Windows
4). Whichever of these retrieval methods you choose, keep your iPod in manual mode until you have reloaded your iTunes and you are happy with your playlists etc then it will be safe to return it auto-sync.
5). I would also advise that you get yourself an external hard drive and back your stuff up, relying on an iPod as your sole backup is not a good idea and external drives are comparatively inexpensive these days, you can get loads of storage for a reasonable outlay: Back up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive

  • HT201263 IOS 6.0.1 Update Won't Let Me Turn My iPod On.

So I have this problem with my iPod Touch 4. The iTunes & USB symbol appeared on my screen after I tried to update my IOS 6 to a IOS 6.0.1.. And now my iPod won't turn on & I'm not even sure if it finished updating. What if I don't want to delete all my data but, I can't back-up it to my computer since it's already in this mode?

Try the followings. It may be that the iPod has to be erased to regains use of the iPod.
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - For other music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
Copy music from Ipod to new computer...: Apple Support Communities
    - After all the stuff is on your computer, connect the iPod to yur computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup.

  • Itunes 7.6 won't let me use my ipod with windows...

I keep getting an error message that says
"The iPod cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 7.6 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes."
I can't update my Windows to XP service pack 2 because my computer is old and fussy, (to be technical about it) so because of this I can't update to itunes 7.6 and my itunes won't recognize my ipod without updating to it. Is there any way I can reset my ipod to an earlier version so it will run with my itunes?
Or am I just going to have to suck it up and reformat my computer?

  • I reinstalled photoshop elements 6 to my computer and now it won't let me register it. How do I fix this?

I had to uninstall and reinstall Photoshop elements 6 to my Windows 7 computer because the brushes were glitching on me, and now it won't accept my serial number to register it to my computer. I received it from a bundle package when I installed my tablet back in 2008ish. The warning is "A problem was encountered while trying to send information over the Internet". I have retyped it several times to make sure I put the right number without any luck either.

Not for free, no.  Well I guess there is.  Don't sync your phone.  We don't, but then we only use it for talking and taking photos which you can transfer using even a pretty old computer.

  • Something won't let me disconnect my ipod from the USB port

I plugged in my ipod to update my new downloaded songs. My computer never recognized my ipod and now the "do not disconnect" message won't go away. I tried clicking on icon in the lower right hand corner that usually tells me when it's ok to disconnect but it's not giving me the "ok".Can any one help me? I know that my sister unplugged hers with the "do not disconnect" message and she had to buy a brand new ipod. HELP!

    Hi Maddy,
    Welcome to the Adobe Forums!
If you downloaded the product via the Creative Cloud, you won't be able to activate the product with a serial number.
To install Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 5 without the Creative Cloud, please follow the link below:

If still you have done these steps already and the serial number can't activate the product, please let me know what is the exact error message.
