Won't load iTunes Songs

My iPod will load anything that I put into my iTunes from a CD, but nothing that I bought from iTunes. It loaded new podcasts, all of the music that had been added from CDs- even has playlists with only the CD music, but nothing from iTunes. When I checked on iTunes, everything is there and playable, it just won't load onto the iPod. I've never had this problem in the past. Does anyone have any idea what might be going on??

To what format are you trying to convert? What settings are you using?  Has this just started or is this the first time trying this?  I really don't know what the limitations are for iTunes 4.7.  I thought I was being a luddite in sticking with 7.5....
Try an alternative ripper such as XLD or Max.

  • ITunes won't load the songs from purchased music CDs

When loading purchased music CDs, the CD loads but iTunes won't load the songs.  Error message:  "The current encoder settings for bit rate and sample rate are not valid for the file."  I'm using an iMac PPC G4 with 768 MB RAM and OS 10.4.11 with iTunes 4.7.1. If I copy the songs into a folder I can push them into the iTunes library but these are huge AIFF files with no info and the machine can't (won't) transfer them into AAC files.

  • FrontRow won't play iTunes songs

Got the kids a new iMac G5 for Christmas. Today I tried to play some music from iTunes (we have over 2500 songs on iTunes) and I was able to use the remote to navigate FrontRow. Found the artist and album and song list, then selected the song to play and after a few seconds, FrontRow returned an error "Could not play song from iTunes" or something like that. However, if I launch iTunes and then play the song (which plays fine), go to FrontRow and select "Currently Playing" I see the cover art and the currently playing song. It updates as the next song on the album plays.
Any ideas why FrontRow itself won't play the song? BTW, I have all of the iTune music library located iin /Shared/iTunes so everyone on the Mac can share it. I was logged in as one of my kid's accounts that has iTunes properties set correctly to the Shared music.

    hey there marsgirl,
in oder to use your purchased iTunes songs in any app(iMovie, iDVD, etc...) you need to burn them to a CD then rip them back to your hard drive. part of the deal(DRM) the labels forced on Apple when the iTS was established.
    good luck.

  • HELP! iPod won't load new songs on my iTunes

My iPod has been having bizarre issues. It has been really screwed up since around August 13th, and it seems to work all right right now when I am merely playing it except that it sometimes skips over random songs. However, whenever I plug it into my computer, iTunes says that my iPod is being updated, but when it is finished and I unplug my iPod, there are no new songs. My ipod has 1090ish songs on it, and my iTunes has about 1157. I am really confused. Also, when I plug in my iPod to be updated, a tiny alert message comes up on my screen that says, "iTunes.exe - corrupt file
the file or directory \iPod_Control\iTunes`Temp File is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility."
Anyone know what that means and/or what I can do? Do I have to send my iPod in to get fixed?

I have the same error message
    "iTunes.exe - corrupt file
the file or directory \iPod_Control\iTunes`Temp File is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility."
itunes deleted all my songs even though i have it set to manual and now I can't upload any songs to my ipod. furthermore it says i have 21.6 GB available out of the 27.8 GB capacity, yet i have no songs or movies or anything on it. If you figure out how to fix this problem please let me know.

  • ITunes library on external drive won't load, iTunes says disk is full and only partial library loads. What is it doing, making another copy?

I have an archive of all my music on an external drive. I wanter to play the music on another computer. When I hooked up the drive and launched iTunes with option key, I linked up the library on the external. iTunes gets part way through linking then says can't load the rest as the disk is full. What disk? What is iTunes doing that it needs more hard drive space for files that already exist? Why can't iTunes just see the files on the external and play them without this seeming dupe process?

Tried hooking up my external drive to my Mini. This morning my Mini had all my info listed, but I couldn't play any songs, for obvious reasons. Now, my Mini is hooked up to the external, iTunes prefs are set on the path to the external - but there is no music in iTunes. No lists, no songs, nada. Just a virgin iTunes window. ***?

  • Pre-loading iTunes song previews: how?

I recall a few years ago iTunes had an option (via Preferences>Store tab) that allowed you to pre-load song previews rather than streaming them instantly, which was great for those unfortunate ones still on dial-up, etc. This option hasn't been in successive iterations of iTunes since.
I'm wondering if there is any way to regain this ability via Terminal command, Applescript or something. Can anyone help me out here? I just want a smoother iTunes Music Store experience when I've used up my monthly download quota and have my speed dropped down from ADSL2+ speed to 64kbps. A response would be most greatly appreciated.

A forumer on macrumors.com suggested I type in Terminal:
    defaults write com.apple.iTunes load-complete-preview-before-playing 1
I input the command in Terminal, opened iTunes, went into the music store, clicked on a random song and it did prebuffer the stream initially. Unfortunately after the first second it reverted back to its old behaviour ie. playing music for 5 seconds, rebuffering, play for another 5 seconds, rebuffer, etc.

  • IPod touch won't load new songs

My iPod touch won't add any more files, although there is plenty of space.  It gets stuck on "preparing to update."  What gives?

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • When my nano is on shuffle, it won't load the song information like artist, song title, album. Only album art.Is this normal?

My nano 6th generation is just a few days old, and I had to reset it earlier because it refused to play some artists, so the troubleshooting was successful.
However now when I use the shuffle mode, I noticed that it doesn't display the song information such as artist, song name, album, just the album art. When I shake to shuffle, it usually doesn't. This is sporadic: sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. Is this an error or is there a way to fix this? But when I shuffle manually, it shows the information. Should I have this fixed?

I had a similar issue and spoke to someone at Apple, who sent me this:
    1. Sign out of iTunes on iPhone.
    2. Put the iPhone in airplane mode
    3. Delete the incorrectly named albums from the iPhone
    4. Edit your album names in your iTunes library to what you want
    5. Move the songs & albums from your iTunes library back to your iPhone
    6. Disconnect
    7. Turn off airplane mode
I've had some slight issues arising from it, but the original problem appears fixed.
    Hope it helps,
    Will

  • Down loading itunes songs purchases on a generic mp3 player

I have bought some songs from itunes PLUS but I am not able to place it on my generic mp3 player. The file format is Mpeg 4 and NOT mp3 how can I listen to my songs on my non apple player ?

You can use iTunes to create an MP3 from the AAC that you pruchased in the iTunes Store. Look in iTunes Help at the article "Saving a copy of a song in a new file format."

  • PowerPoint - how to load iTune song to program

I am trying to upload a song from my iTune playlist to my MS PowerPoint program, but cannot find the file. I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

If you have a song in your iTunes library, and need to find the file, right-click the library entry and use "Show in Windows Explorer." It will take you right to the folder!

  • Won't Load Itunes at all.

So i decided today that i would finally use my Itunes Card given to me at christmas. I have no IPOD never wanted one and NO Apple stuff at all. I have heard many things about Itunes and never any of them good..
Anyway I downloaded the most recent version and installed it this afternoon to find that once installed and tried to run after the reboot, nothing. nothing at all. I checked the process list and itunes had started a number of process Ipod service.exe....Itunes.exe etc but the program itself didnt appear. Very annoying. Where do i go from here? I have already wasted nearly 3 hours searching for answers within this kind of forum with no joy! Anyone else just get absoultely nothing? No errors at all aswell just NOTHING.
I have tried a number of things, i reinstalled it, i tried making a new user which was advised by apple's support and even in the new user, nothing. I never have problems with programs! im finding it hard to belive that itunes has so many problmes running in windows.... Is there no real customer support? I just see these discussion forums? pretty lack luster service for such a large global company... just letting there customers figure out things themselves by "disscussion" very rubbish.
So now im left thinking that my itunes card is useless. Dont you think you should be able to access the itunes store online without ITUNES. I cant imagine how annoyed i would be if i had just forked out for a 80GB Ipod or something to find that Itunes doesnt work!

    Cake..man,
Besecure has issued a fix for this problem, please refer to their statement as follows:
A solution for your issue has been suggested.
We now have a fix for the itunes conflict you were experiencing. Please be aware that this process will require you to reboot your computer twice.
First we will need to ensure that you have the latest version of CloudCare installed on your computer. You can do this by following the steps below. If you currently have CloudCare installed this will overwrite the version you have but you will not lose any of your settings.
Visit https://www.bsecure.com/MyAccount/Login.aspx and login in with your email and your password.
    Click Download Client Software.
    Click on Download.
Select Run or Open when prompted. If your only option is to Save, please click Save. Double-click Install_CloudCare.exe once the download has completed.
    Restart your computer when prompted.
Now you will need to run the Itunes fix. Please ensure you only run this file once,
    Click this link - http://www.bsecure.com/docs/itunesfix.exe
Run itunesfix.exe. Its possible if you are using Mozilla Firefox that you may have to 'download' the file first then double click on it in the downloads list. Internet explorer may require you to click keep then run.
You will know the fix has ran when you see a black box appear on your screen for a moment, then disappears.
After this happens reboot your computer one last time
Itunes store should now work properly & the mobile device service will no longer conflict.

  • IPod Nano won't accept new songs

When I try to add new songs to my iPod Nano in iTunes it LOOKS like they get added. I can see them on the iPod, both at the top-level and in whatever playlist I put them in, and I can even PLAY them from the iPod in iTunes.
But once I disconnect the iPod from the PC they're gone from the iPod - they're not in Songs or in any playlist. The only sign that I did anything is that Info shows the amount free space decremented by the size of the songs. So they're taking up space on the iPod but they're not visible.
If I reconnect the iPod to iTunes it doesn't show them either (and it fixes the available space discrepancy, too).
FWIW I currently have 291MB of free space, and 314 songs on my 2GB iPod Nano, PC is Win XP.
    Thanks in advance!

    > I'm sorry that there doesnt seem to be a better
solution unless the post above applies :)
Reloading the the songs seems like reloading the whole OS on a PC just because one DLL or Registry entry is bad or replacing a car engine because of a blown head gasket.
Right now I have an Ipod with lots of songs on it that plays just fine. It just won't accept new songs. What if I dump everything to my PC, blow-everything-away, and try to reload it and it won't load ANY SONGS? I'm 4000 miles from home, so then I'm really stuck, with no tunes! From an engineering standpoint this approach just doesn't make sense to me. This is my first Apple product - are they all like this (i.e., if something acts up start over from scratch)?
When I have my iPod connectd to my PC I can see all kinds of system files in iPod_Control\Device. Aren't there any diagnostics we can run on those to simply solve the problem?
