Won't load page

Question

okay, so i'm not sure where to post this. all of a sudden yahoo will not load and i use yahoo email so thats a huge problem. why would this be happening? i can access yahoo on any other computer. itunes store won't work either but thats a whole different issue i posted as well. every other webpage loads fine. it seems like the two things i use the most (yahoo and itunes) are completely unavailable on my computer! Help!! it does the same thing when using firefox too.

Hi,
As you may gather, same results in the test account shows you have a system wide issue,
Maybe your connection/router, these are the things I would try to troubleshoot this issue.
• Are you running any third party firewall, such as Net Barrier or Peer Guardian?
• At times reapplying Mac 0s x 10.4.9 Combined Update helps esp. if you did the stand alone delta update.
First try flushing your router, dns numbers & or create a new location.
Then the combo 10.4.9 update, if all else fails.
• To flush the routers cache,using the Terminal application (Utilities folder)
Close all apps, cope & paste the following command below into the terminal window,
Click enter, you will be asked for an admin password, enter that (it'll not be echoed),
Click return.
When it's done, quit the Terminal application.
lookupd -flushcache
Restart your mac, any better?
If not....
• Do you use Dns numbers in the Dns Servers field,?
System preferences->Network,Show: Airport or ethernet [which ever is the case] in the TCP/IP tab, in Dns Servers
Oddly, In some cases most site will connect but some won't with out Dns numbers.
Look for your ISP's dns number here at the DNS Servers page, or call your ISP.
Some folks have a lot of luck with these, Verizon #'s (Level3) - these are not restricted to Verizon customers

Are you using Earthlink? If you are these are the Opt out DNS #s.....
207.69.188.171 (west coast)
207.69.188.172 (east coast)
If you're west of the Mississippi, use the west coast DNS server as your primary and the east coast as secondary, vice-versa in the eastern U.S.
• Try creating a new location in Network calling it something else, but with all the same settings, take screenshots or write down the particular settings.

2. Turn off Energy Saver and any automatic software updating mechanism from Quicktime, to Software Update, to third party updates.
