Won't play in edit mode

In Audition 1.5 multitrack view plays fine and all functions are usable, however when I try to edit a waveform, the stop, play, pause, play from cursor, and play looped are all greyed out and unusable. I've tried pressing the spacebar as well, but nothing happens. Also, nothing will preview in the organizer.
Nothing like this has happened to me before, and the program was working well for hours today and suddenly did this.

Check that the right Audio Driver and default output paths are selected under Edit/Audio Hardware Setup. I believe I've seen the transport controls greyed out when Audition can't find a valid path/driver for the audio--and you have to select separately in Multirack and Edit view.
Even if you haven't knowingly changed these settings, Vista and Win7 seem to be able to do some weird things.

Upgraded to the latest Keynote (5.3 1170) and now videos won't play in presentation mode, only audio

Upgraded Keynote on my home and work computers to the latest version in the AppStore and now videos won't play in presentation mode. In edit mode you can double click and it will play in the editor. This happens on both computers running the latest version of ML (10.8.4).
Any help here? Alread tried a reinstall of ML on one machine with no luck.
Was previously running Keynote 08 (non AppStore version). Tried creating brand new presentations in 09, no luck.

I had the same problem today in front of an audience with 300 people (MacbookPro OSX 10.10, Thunderbolt-VGA adapter, PPT 14.4.6).
Here what I figured out so far:
1. It happens when you have PPT open and connect to beamer afterwards
2. You can resolve it (in my case) by quitting PPT and launching it WHEN connected to beamer
3. Yet, make sure Mac does not go into sleep mode or you get a lock-screen in the waiting time. if you do so, you get back to square 1. quit PPT again 2. restart it.
4. Also.... in one case I had to hit the volume control once to get the sound back even though movie was playing
So in short: Connect to beamer first, then launch PPT
I know it is only a symptom fix but it worked for me

Captivate 4 audio not playing in edit mode

In Captivate 4, if i try to playback a slide in the edit mode
(so i can time things that i want to add, like comment boxes etc.),
there is no sound. If i do a playback in the web format, it does
play the sound though, so i know that the sound did record. The
sound waves show in the edit mode, but there isn't any sound
playing back.

Welcome to our community. As matter of interest if you select
the audio file in the Library panel and then press the Play button
in the preview pane, do you hear the sound then? If it does, then
with the audio file still selected, click the Export button in the
Library panel toolbar and save the file to say your Desktop. Next,
delete the audio from the Library panel and then press F6 to import
the audio again. If the sound still won't play then please report
this issue to the Adobe Captivate team using the web address I have
included below.

GIF won't play in design mode, but previews fine... any ideas?

My animated gif loops in browser preview, but only plays on the stage when i move it around. If I leave it selected without moving, it sits there frozen. Any ideas why my gif won't play properly in design mode? Thanks!

Thank you for confirmation that that is how things should work. I'm new to
the program and following some Lynda tutorials to get up to speed. My most
recent lesson included the gif in exercise files, and everything seems to
function both in Photoshop and the browser. Even in edge design mode, if I
press on the gif and move it around, it plays and loops fine. But as soon
as I stop moving the gif, it returns to first frame and stays stuck there.
Whether selected or not, it just sits there frozen. If I switch
applications and come back to edge, I catch a glimpse of other frames, as
if the gif was playing in the background. But then it stops again, kind of
like a watched pot The behavior seemed glitchy to me, but I thought I
might be missing a setting somewhere. I'll try with other gifs, I guess..

Song won't play in landscape mode

I have what appears to be one song that won't play in the music app when the ipad is in landscape mode. When you press on the screen, nothing happens. If you flip the ipad to portrait mode it plays just fine. This is an itunes purchased song. I have had this issue with the same song on 2 different ipads and the same thing happens on both ipads. I have removed the song, sync'd then put it back on. I have deleted the song completely, re-downloaded and sync'd again and I still have the same issue.
Any thoughts?

I would also like to clarify that this is only in artist view.

Hello everyone.
Wondering if anyone can help me with a little issue I'm having with Final Cut Pro.
For some reason, video playback won't work in preview mode (apple+F12). It just pauses, but the audio plays. I've checked that the Video Playback is set to Digital Cinema and that I select All Frames in External playback, but it still remains looking like a still frame - with the audio. However, the footage plays fine in the canvas window.
Any clues on what the issue could be?
Just so you know, I'm using a Lumix GH3 camera, with no firewire. I have to import the .mst files into iMovie, with USB, and export them into .movs to get them to work in Final Cut. If anyone knows of a much simpler way to do this then that would be a great help.
Could that affect the playback?

there's probably your problem. Although fcp will allow you to import h264 quicktimes, it's not a compatible format. Use compressor to convert to prores422. Post back if you need any further help with this.

Organizer plays all my videos, PSE 9 won't play or edit any.

I have an Asus laptop with Corei5 processor, 4gb ram, 500gb HDD @ 7200rpm with plenty of contiguous space. I believe my playback/editing problem lies in my video card. I have an Geforce GT 32M 1GB with Nvidia Optimus technology. This lets my laptop switch between integrated graphics on the i5 processor, and my discrete Geforce card. It appears as if PSE 9 detects and activates my Geforce while loading up (specifically the PlayerMediaCore.prm triggers it) but then turns it off. Once in the editor all videos will play their audio only. I have tried to force only integrated graphics mode and discrete graphics mode. Either way, it will not work.
I have tried quite a few formats of videos, and have the most recent Nvidia, Intel graphics, quicktime, directx, and PSE 9 updates. PSE 7 worked fine with the same files.
Help!

Both the player in Organizer, and also the Source Monitor, are simple players. The ability to edit the Clips depends on several other aspects, like CODEC and Project Preset - hence Steve G's question.

Imovie won't play or edit a project

Hi
Can someone help? All of a sudden I can't edit a project and the preview window is just blank. Before the cursor would drag the playhead so I could edit. Now it's just a "hand" icon and I can't do anything. In addition I can't preview any project there is just a black screen. When I press play on a project the play head won't move. Help!

You may have already tried this, but quit iMovie then re-open it. If that doesn't fix things, shutdown and reboot your Mac.
Failing that, try deleting iMovie's preference file. It's located in your User (Home) folder Library/Preferences and (for iMovie '11) is named "com.apple.iMovieApp.plist" (also see NOTE below).
Close iMovie then drag this file to the Trash. When next opened, iMovie will create a fresh .plist file with the default settings, which you can change if desired in iMovie>Preferences in iMovie's menu.
Deleting the preference file will not harm your Events or Projects but may fix iMovie's unusual behaviour. The file can become corrupted in some circumstances, such as when iMovie quits unexpectedly or is Force Quit.
NOTE: For users of iMovie '09, the preference file is named "com.apple.iMovie8.plist". Earlier versions will have a similar name.

Videos won't play in editing board

When I click on the individual clips in order to watch, cut and edit them...they literally will not PLAY. When I hit the "play" arrow, it switches the "pause" image as if it's playing, but the screen stays frozen. It didn't matter whether I dragged them into the scene board, or just watched them in the media area.

Quicktime files won't play in presenter mode

first it was working great but after installing Flip4Mac the presentation in presenter mode will ony play sound on slides who have quicktime movies in them. Also graphics and text on these slide are not shown. I removed flip4mac and re-installed Keynote but this has no effect. Does anybodu know how I can fix this error?

Front Row 2 - Videos won't play in mirrored mode

I have a powerbook hooked up to my TV via the video out. When I use Front Row, the menus show up on the TV fine. But when I start a movie or a TV show, I hear the audio, I see the control bar on the bottom, but I do not see the video, on either screen.
It almost looks like it is being blocked like some sort of copy protection. Any ideas?

Seemingly have the same problem as everyone else but rebooting doesn't make a difference. I just attempted to play an avi while hooked up to my TV with an Apple branded connector. Front Row (installed with Leopard 10.5 fresh install, not an upgrade or archive) would not show the video, only the sound with the bar at the bottom.
I then hooked my MacBook Pro 2.33GHz up to a second monitor via DVI cable - same problem.
But, with no external TV or Monitor hooked up, Front Row plays the avi file with video. (No change if I was in extended desktop or mirrored mode.)
I haven't tried a DVD yet or other video file types.

Problems opening edit mode from Main Menu in Elements 8

Photoshop Elements won't open in edit mode after the main menu comes up fine. The other choice, and I forget what that is because I never use it, DOES open up. I use Lightroom for 98 percenr of PP of photo files. I DO use Elements once in a while for a couple of tweaks. Anyway, I clicked debug and I read the following message:

Another time I tried to open the main window into edit mode, and it would not open into edit mode, so I clicked on debug and read this message:
c:\document~1\gregmc~1\locals~1\temp\2499_appcompat.txt
And yet another time I tried to open the main window into edit mode, and it would not open into edit mode, so I clicked on debug and read this message:
c:\document~1\gregmc~1\locals~1\temp\f717_appcompat.txt
Not sure what to do. I can always uninstall the entire program, and then reinstall.
One thing I did do, tonight, was uninstall the Adobe inspiration browser and then installed the update, as per the window prompted me to do when the program first loads onscreen. I thought maybe this was the issue, being lapse on updating something, But, I closed out the program post install, and then opened the program again, and was once again unable to open the edit portion of the program. Again, the other choice (window) works fine, though I don't use it. Only the edit portion of the program won't open up to use.

Let's try to avoid the welcome screen and open the editor from a desktop shortcut:
For Windows (I have WIN-7), the path is:
C>Program Files (x86)>Adobe>Photoshop Elements 8>Right click on that>Send to>Desktop shortcut

Why won't the author's name display below my PDF's in edit mode?

I use iBooks consistently everyday primarily to view my PDF music files I download... When I use edit mode in iBooks to select my PDF's and reorganize them, the author names disappear... I can not use this update if the app won't display the author's name in edit mode... Please put it back where I can see the author's names in edit mode and I would love to update and give 5 stars...

I am a professional pianist, and PDF music files are sheet music that I scan and turn into a PDF file so I can view them from my ipad...
PDf music files are also sheet music that I score using music notation software on my Mac that I turn into PDF files, so I can use my iPad while I play the piano to view all of my music...

I will keep trying to send feedback in hopes that my request can be heard, and used to restore the authors' names in edit mode...
Let's say I have 7 different versions of the song "Silent Night" by 7 different authors...
If I use edit mode to categorize those songs into playlists, once the authors' names are removed, I have no way of being able to tell the different versions of the song apart from each other...
I'm unable to select the song titles quickly in order to move them into playlists...

While in imovie, when working on a project, I can NOT view the project in the right hand screen. I have made several videos and it has always worked before. I am not able to edit the videos because they won't play in the right hand screen.

The videos that I import (and are located on the bottom of imovie) will show up and play on the right hand screen. But if I move that clip to the actually project area it won't play in the right hand side! I somehow must have clicked something that now won't play the project videos and now plays the clips below instead! Help please I need to fix this! Everythign else works, I can still edit videos, add transitions, music, etc I just can't see it on the right hand side- so I can't edit because I can't see

.MOD files in Quicktime won't play

I'm trying to convert .mod files into MPEG files. I'm working on an
iMac 3.06 GHz Inteal Core Duo. I shot video on Canon FS100 camera and
when I uploaded the video and the files are ".MOD"s. I can't play them
on my computer. I changed the file extension to .MPG. but it won't
play on my quicktime (Version 7.5.5 (249.24). How can I get these to
play?

Checking the forums, I found threads that point to using Streamclip. I tried it and got this message:
"You will miss the two most important features of MPEG Streamclip:
- you won't be able to play MPEG-2 files and transport streams;
- you won't be able to convert MPEG-2 files and transport streams to QuickTime, DV, AVI.
However, all other features are always available, including playback and conversion of MPEG-1 to QuickTime, DV, AVI, demuxing of MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, AC3 decoding, and conversion from transport streams to MPEG files (useful if you have Toast 6).
