Won't print 5x7 photos

I cannot print a 5 x 7 photo using my POwer PC G4 with OS 10.4.11 on a HP 5550 inkjet printer.It seems likethe printer won't print this size. Is there a work around?Gerrbear

Thank you for responding.WHen I choose page set-up, it onlygives me an option of 5 x 8 and the customization is grayed out and you can't select. When I then go to the print dialogue box, I can choose a 5x 7 but a message comes up that the paper is not the right sixe or something like that. What do you think?Thanks Gerrbear

Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to assist you today with printing on 5 x 7 photo paper from your Windows 7 computer to your HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer. We may just have to 'create' the paper size under the Windows Operating System.
The first thing I did was check the printing specifications for your HP Laserjet to verify that the 5 x 7 paper size was listed under the media specifications, which it is. For your records, here are the specifications for your product: Printer Specifications for HP LaserJet Pro CP1525n and CP1525nw Color Printers
With that being said, because you don't see the 5 x 7 paper size listed under the program that you're printing from, I will have you manually create the size. Please follow the steps below.
1. Click on your Start menu
2. Select Devices and Printers
3. Click on your printer once in this folder and select Print Server Properties at the top.
4. In the Print Server Properties window make sure you're under the Forms tab
5. Click the checkbox for Create a New Form
6. Under Form Name type in 5x7
7. Under the Form Description section at the bottom please type 5.00in as Width and 7.00in as Height
8. Click Save Form on the top right
9. Click Apply and OK
Now that the Paper Size has been manually created, please open the page you wish to print and now listed under the paper size options you should see 5x7 as a size.

Won't print to photo tray, but will print test page

I have most current Vista driver, but can't print to photo tray. It won't pull the tray in, although it works great when printing test page. I tried various page/paper settings and "photo tray" light settings, but still won't print from Vista.
Tried 8250 printer properties, changing paper settings, but can't recognize settings, even though it sees the paper and prints the test page. Seemed to work just fine with XP.

Plugged into an XP machine, photo printed.
Plugged back into Vista, fooled with the settings, then it worked!
I don't know what exactly fixed it...

C7250 printer won't print 8x10 photos

This printer will print 4x6 photos from the photo tray, but will not print 8x10 photos from the paper tray. When I attempt this, even inputting "print from main tray" the printer tries to print from the photo tray and a message comes up requesting that photo paper be placed in the photo tray. How do I program printer to print photos from main tray. I have opened printer preferences and in the drop down menu have chosen as source "main tray" and size 8.5Xll

It keeps saying to put in the paper tray --but there is no space for an 8 x 10--not only that--all I'm trying to do is print an 8 x 10 scan document and it won't print from the lower shelf--it keeps wanting me to put the paper in the top tray--there is no room for an 8 x 10 or 8 x 11 paper in the top tray!-Julie

New HP Photosmart 7520 won't print from photo tray

EDIT: It will feed from the phototray if I print the photo from the Windows Photo Viewer. However, it still refuses to print straight from the jpg, even though I explicitly specify in all the settings that I want to print a 4x6 from the photo tray. Is this typical behavior? I assume it would print correctly from other photo editing and viewing software, but haven't checked that yet so cannot be certain. PREVIOUS POST: I just got this printer, and cannot make it print from the photo tray. It printed from the phototray during the installation and setup, but that was the only time. The rest of the time, when I try to print a picture, it only selects from the regular paper tray. Is there some magical procedure involved? I have a Windows 7 operating system, and just installed everything from the HP site. I uninstalled and reinstalled, but still it doesn't work. I load a sheet in the phototray, make sure the correct printer is set, select the paper size (in this case 4x6in, the sample photo paper that came with the printer), select HP Everyday Photo Paper, Glossy, click Print, and the printer ignores the phototray and prints from the regular paper tray. I have scoured the web and the answers provided do not solve the problem. This is very frustrating. If I cannot get this resolved in another day or two, I will be returning this printer and will try a different brand.

I have already looked at that link and tried all the things I can try at home, aside from replacing the print heads. Nothing works. The magenta seems to be the biggest offender. When I print photos that have a lot of magenta in them, I also get the horizontal lines, so it is not just the regular paper used by the printer's quality report (my first suspicion, sadly proven wrong). I see now that this printer also cuts off the image when printing a borderless photo. I have not found a solution for that yet, either. It also went crazy in the middle of a print job (told me that I needed to power it off, lost its wireless connection, regained its connection, but would not talk to the computer). I had to turn it off and on again to reset it, and after that it seemed to print, at least. This printer has been a very expensive mistake, considering the ink and paper I have gone through in the past week. I have four days to decide if I want to return it and just eat the cost of the ink cartridges. I am seriously considering it at this point, but will try to work things out for another day or two.

I understand when you try to print a 4x6 photo, it defaults to 8x10 paper. What is your operating system on your computer(s)? Windows or Mac?
I would recommend following this HP document on An 'Out of Paper' Message Displays on the Control Panel and the e-All-in-One Does Not Pick Up Paper ... Make sure you change the "Print Settings" to the correct paper size and the "Media Tab" is set on "Photo Tray".
Please post your results, as I will be looking forward to hearing from you.

Aperture won't print from photo tray on HP Photosmart 6520

I've just started having a problem printing 4x6 photos with Aperture. When I print a borderless 4x6 glossy using the photo tray on my Photosmart it works fine. When I say to print a 4x6 borderless using the photo tray with photo premium paper it prints from the main tray rather than the photo tray. Plus now it's giving me a picture with borders, even though I specified borderless. Anyone have this problem?

Sorry, I do not know anything about your Printer. Have you looked, if there is an update for your printer driver, before you start reinstalling Aperture? If yes, upgrade your printer driver first. Also check, if you are having the same problem when printing from a different user account. Maybe some settings in your user accunt or startup items are interfering. You could also check, if printing from iPhoto or Photoshop has the same problem (but don't waste expensive photo paper on these tests ).
What is the Aperture version you are using?
Let me ask this: is there a problem deleting Aperture and reinstalling it? Will I lose anything? Thanks.
Your images are stored in the Aperture library/libraries, and your settings in your user library. This should not be affected by reinstalling Aperture. But do not reinstall, without ensuring that your backup is current.
How to reinstall will depend on the Aperture version you are using. This support article describes the procedure - ignore the title of the document - it is written to help with a nasty bug.

L7680 Won't print 4x6 photo-Error Code B842F086

Prints letter size OK. Test page and alignment pages good. When I try to print 4x6 photos, printer locks up and I get an immediate error message “Turn power off then on again”, then error code B842F086. Later, the message “….Improper shut down”

Yes, it has always printed 4x6 just fine. I am talking about 'borderless' 4x6. Just as an experiment, I tried 4x6 with border and one other 4x6 format (don't remember), no joy. They I retried 4x6 bordrless and it worked fine. Printed several sets of photos.

HP Envy 7645 won't print from photo tray

FIXED my own problem!Never thought to try setting the paper size to 4x6 in/10x25 cm! That's apparently what I get for being metric-phobic (or ignorant). But really, why provide a 4x6 option in the first place? I can't get my Envy 7645 printer to print from the photo tray. I'm specifically trying to print from the Photos app. I select the print option, set the printer, paper size (4x6), and paper options to "print from photo tray." I select print, and the HP print dialog appears and from there I am unable to set the photo tray as the paper source. The dialog comes up with "Default Settings" as the Presets option and when I scroll down through the dialog to select the Paper Type/Quality option, it shows paper type as HP Photo Papers, Quality is set to Normal, and the Source is set to Automatic (which fails to print from the photo tray; it defaults to the main tray). When I try to shift from Automatic to Photo Tray, I get an error message that says "The paper size selected is not supported by the Photo Tray. To print with the Photo Tray, go to the Page Setup dialog, choose a paper size supported by this tray, and then return to the Print dialog." At this point, I have no idea where to find the Page Setup dialog (it's not immediately apparent in the avialable options and I can't seem to find it under any of the Photos print options). Further, I don't understand why I'm getting the error in the first place as the paper installed in the tray is, indeed, 4x6 (as set in the original Photos dialog). I've tried playing with any number of varities of options (e.g, changing from HP Photo Papers to the generic other photo papers option, not specifying size of photo paper) and any time I select the photo tray option, I get the error message.

Have you installed your printer's full-feature driver on the Mac? If not, click here to install. Also, for your information, your printer's specifications re: supported photo paper sizes is available here. When I tried printing a photo from my Yosemite machine (albeit with a different printer) this is how I configured the print job: If I had the option I would also recommend setting the paper type to correspond with whatever kind of photo paper you're using. If this approach doesn't help try the following steps: Uninstall your printer - click here for instructions. Repair disk permissions on your Mac - click here for instructions. Once you've finished running the above-noted utility, restart your computer. Lastly, click here to reinstall your printer. Won't print from Photo Card

I have a new Photosmart Premium printer and it will not print from an XD card. The printer displays the photos and I can select all the photos etc. but it will not print - after going through the motions of starting the printing process, shaking and making lots of printer noises, the printer pauses and after a lengthy delay it spits out a blank page and cancels the print job.........
The photo printing works well from the computer but I chose this printer for the XD card option for quick printing. Please help!

Need a little more information here......there are several models called Photosmart Premium. Is it a C410a, C309g, C309c or which model?

I am using the HP app to try and print on photo paper 5x7" supplied with inks by HP for this printer. Printer takes photo papers at edge of tray but won't print as it detects no paper in it! Crazy!
I put the paper sideways, and then it did feel paper but printed across it, cutting off bottom as not correct shape. Looks like it is too small to be felt in tray

Is there a way to print 5x7 photos in iPhoto on 8.5x11 paper with only one photo per page?

select the photo and print - select the printer, set paper to 8.5x11 and print size to 5x7 and click customize - click on settings (the gear looking thingy in the tool bar) and select single picture per page, click print and make any printer specific selections and click print to print them

Photosmart D5160 won't print A7 envelopes

I am trying to print A7 envelopes and have created a custom paper size to match 5.25 x 7.25 since there are lots of other envelope options but not A7. I do not understand how the printer can print 5x7 photos but not an envelope to send them...anyway. When choosing my custom size and indicating it should pull from the main tray, it starts the print job and then goes to the photo tray to pull the paper. The photo tray does not accommodate anything larger than a 5 x 7 photo paper, at least mine does not....can you tell me how to work around this issue? My custom setting: Paper source: Main TrayPaper size: 5.25 x 7.25 (I even tried alternating to 7.25 x 5.25) Please help me, I am printing invitations and envelopes for my son's wedding and bought this printer specifically for the task never imagining I could not print a simple envelope.
