Won't print correct size of pictures

My computer runs Vista and I recently installed a HP 1510 series printer.  It prints regular documents fine, but when I try to print 4x6 pictures it will not print the full size.  I am given only one option in print job (Windows Photo Gallery is default software) full page.  I have tried selecting and de-selecting "fit frame" and it made not difference.  I have reset the printer a few times and checked to be sure all drivers were up-to-date.  I just want to click on the picture and have it print the right size!  Any help would be appreciated.
This question was solved.

MaryLiz,
You do have to have the Full Feature Software installed for your printer for this to all work properly:
Install Full Feature Software - Printer
If you have the printer software installed, it is probably OK.
===========================================================================
If you select paper size 4X6, then you cannot also select the other options shown in that last column.  These are mutually exclusive.  The options that are available change according to the kind of paper you select.
Are you using 4X6 paper in the printer?
The printing preferences are something you have to set up the way you like -- and then change them when you change the paper, change the "thing" you are printing, change your mind about what you want...
You can click on a photo and have it automatically print a 4X6 photo if you have a printer with a photo-tray in it with photo paper loaded and ready to go.  You would still have to change the printing preferences if you wanted to change the setup for any reason at all.
I think I might be missing the point entirely.  My apologies for the Sloth-Brain.  Smiling.

  • How can I get PSE 13 to print correct size and center photo?

I have MAC, Artisan 1430 printer, PSE 13.  Recently upgraded from PSE 10 (never had a problem printing).  I input the size paper, size image, paper type, etc. (as I would with PSE 10) and the same parameters for printer, but image does not print correct size and is not centered.

    Hello Surendra,
Thank you for the clear explanation of the duplicate detection and how adding Metadata affects duplicate detection. But I am still wondering if there isn't a more useful way to handle this. If I am setting a metadata template for the APD, I want all my images to contain that information. And that makes duplicate detection non-functional for me. How can I workaround that?
It seems the duplicate detection process should take the metadata template into consideration before determining if the image is duplicate. Of course that may be other undesired side effects, such as a performance hit, etc.
Also, I have seen behaviors that seems to not follow this logic and seem to indicate that the duplicate process might not be operating as I would expect.
    1. If I rotate an image in the Organizer, and set the Rotate JPEGs Using Orientation Metadata is unchecked (to rotate the image on disk), the import process still recognizes the image as a duplicate. It would be nice for me if there was some documentation on what triggers an image to be non-duplicate.
    2. If I select two images and in the information pane, click Edit IPTC information and add IPTC data, the APD import process still is able to determine the images are a duplicate. From my perspective, there is no difference in the data displayed if I add the IPTC data via the metadata template or Edit ITPC information cmd. Why does duplicate detection work in one case and not the other?
    3. If all the images are duplicates, then APD displays ALL images on the media, but unselected. I guess it's saying no new images found, which do you want to import again.

I have a HP Officejet Pro L7590 All In One.  It all of a sudden will not print correctly after it sits a few days.  I purchased a new black/yellow printhead recently and it did print well for about a week.  If it sits a few days, it acts up again.  All I have to do to fix it is take out the yellow/black printhead clean with sterile water on a q tip the printhead, put it back in, and walla it prints again until the next time I want to use the printer, and the same thing again.  Today I printed out some pictures after not using the printer for 5 days, the pics had large vertical stripes in them, the stripes have colors in them.  I cleaned the printhead and it worked perfectly.  Any ideas.  I have replaced the black cartride, and the yellow recently.
    Thanks for any help

    Rocky8,
This is a little outside our area of printing, but I'll try and help you the best I can. My question for you is the printer showing up under the USB menu in Parallels. If it's not showing up then you need to determine why the USB connection isn't showing up in your Parallels USB menu.  This could be a couple of issues, but the one that I think might be happening is the version of the USB port your using.  Can you verify that you're not connecting the printer via a USB 3.0 port.  Try plugging into one of your other USB ports to see if the printer will show up in the parallels USB menu.

    Hello pcmtgrl
Which model of the Officejet 8500A series do you have? Typically you can find it inside the printer where you change the ink cartridges. Example: A910g, A910a, etc.
Has anything changed recently since the problem started? Is the printer plugged into a wall outlet or a surge protector? Do you have the latest firmware installed? I also suggest running the HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility. Let me know if it finds anything out.

recently, when printing pdf files, the first page prints out as 1/10 or 1/20th original size while rest of document prints correctly.
I have no idea how this happened or why and I have no idea how to fix. I cannot get the first page of any pdf doocument to
print correctly and thus, I am virtually unable to print pdf files.

Sometimes if a .pdf is smaller than actual 8 1/2 x 11 or bigger, you'll either get way too much of the image and it's cut off, or the image is too small. You should also try to do this in the print driver window: Properties -> Advanced -> Image Options -> Disable "PostScript pass-through"

Adapt and overcome- turn the image 90 degrees and enlarge it
    so it will fit
standard paper. Standard us paper would be about 612px by

  • 3210 All in One won't print legal size envelopes

I followed the simple instructions but my 3210 won't print legal (regular) size envelopes.  What to do?

Hi , Welcome to the HP Forums! I noticed that your HP Photosmart c6150 will not print black. I am happy to look into this issue for you!  According to this guide, Color Mix or Missing Colors on the Diagnostic Page, it states: Missing colors occur when the printhead nozzles dry out. Since you have tried cleanign the printhead multiple times, and the issue is still occuring, I would consider having the printer serviced/or replaced. Please contact HP, phone support for further assistance. (After you fill out the information, you will be given a phone number.) If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. • PHOTOTRAY: Not printing correct size image

    When I use the phototray, the 4x6 image prints 3.75 x 5.25.
It started in photoshop elements. Page set up is 4x6, margins are zero. So...I thought it was a PSE issue. I imported the image into PAGES (like "word"), set page size to 4x6, set margins to zero, no header/ooter. Hit print--same thing!  Yet, when I print same inage on regular inkjet paper, it printes correctly. It is something to do with phototray!
I could even deal with it if it needed a 1/8" white border--but the print needs to fill the paper.
Checking/Unchecking "Print Borderless" makes no difference.
    I tried to "trick it"...
    1. Set page size to 5 x 7 leaving the image 4x6, and it still printed exactly the same.
    2. Set page size to 5 x 7 making image 5x7, and it still printed t3.75 x 5.25 BUT part of the image was cut off.

    Hello @Mom2Two!
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!
I would be happy to provide some assistance in hopefully resolving the issue.  I see Your running Mac 10.9 and  when your printing photos on 4x6  with your Photosmart C309a it is printing too small.  These types of issues generally tend to be software related.  I understand you mentioned the paper trey but it is just a guide and does not effect how the image is printed on the paper.
A good way to test the hardware in the printer would be to perform a stand alone photo copy.  I suggest doing a photo copy on 4x6 paper.  On the printer you can press the copy button and in the copy settings you can change the paper size to 4x6.  You can also change paper type to photo paper if it is a glossy paper type.
There is another application in the Mac called Preview.  I suggest trying to open the document in Preview and printing it from there.  Here is a document regarding Changing Print Settings in Mac OS X.  The document goes up to Mac 10.8 but the same steps apply on a Mac running 10.9.
You can try removing the printer by resetting the print system  and then re-adding the printer back to the Mac.
    To reset printing system:
Click the apple icon top left corner
    Click System Preferences
    Click Print and Scan
Hold the Ctrl key on the keyboard and click in the white space under your printer
    Click reset printing system
The printer should remove after a moment of color wheeling
    To add the printer:
Click the plus (+) sign bellow the printer list
Click add other printer or scanner
    select your printer
    Click add
    Ty printing again
From what I can find there is no Photosmart C309a full feature software available for Mac OS X 10.9.  You can still use the printer of coarse but the HP printer is using basic Apple Air Print drivers. This could effect printing when its not just basic document printing and settings start to get changed.  If it was working before when printing your photos you can try running a Repair Disk Permissions.  This is a utility in the Mac designed to resolve issues and clean junk files.  This may resolve and printing issues you have started experiencing and should also improve computer performance.
To run a Repair Disk Permissions click here: Repair disk permissions to speed up your Mac.
I hope this helps!  Please post back and let me know how it goes!

  • C won't print 5 x 7 pictures

I am trying to print 5 x 7 pictures, but instead of getting the 5 x 7 the pictures are coming out on the paper on the right side and are the size of a postage stamp.  Does anyone have a solution?

Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
It might be just a setting -- or combination of settings that is making the photo "tiny".
I hate to even try on this one.  I have not even seen XP for a long time and I don't know how the Printer software responds on this version of Windows.
The following might apply to some extent although WHERE you find  and adjust the settings in XP might be enough different that it is just confusing to you.
Windows Photo Viewer has been around forever -- and is probably in XP and some form of the Printing Preferences should be available to help set paper size and such.
    I hope this helps.
Print Photos – Three Methods: Photos Creations, Windows Photo Viewer, Word
    By itself:
Printing Preferences – Windows and Mac
If nothing works -- and that takes into account that you might have to look up where to find your Printing Preferences and maybe look up how to find other settings ... I mean to say, if nothing works, then you might consider reinstalling the printer software.

  • A particular Apple Symbols glyph won't print correctly

I'm using ID CS under OSX 10.4.11. When I use a glyph from Apple Symbols (Unicode 21AA, a right-pointing arrow), it shows up okay in InDesign and also when I export to PDF. But when I print to a black and white laser (HP 5200L and HP 1200) it shows up as a rectangular box.
So I did a test. I tried a heart from Apple Symbols (Unicode 2665), and that did print okay.
In the Print Dialog box I have chosen Graphics > Font > Download Complete, and ticked the box called Download PPD fonts.
Any suggestions why this particular symbol doesn't print correctly?

I have revisited this problem to find out exactly where the problem lies. If anyone is interested to try to replicate the problem, you can download a small file called "Print Test" from here:
    http://www.mediafire.com/?xz1dzxfxk09
The file is only a few lines of text with the relevant symbols. There are three symbols: a heart, an arrow, and a tent.
    1. When I print with InDesign CS, the arrow and tent come out as vertical rectangles.
    2. When I export as PDF and print, everything is OK.
    3. When I copy the InDesign text, past in TextEdit and print, all is OK.
So it appears that InDesign CS is not printing certain symbols properly. Any suggestions as to why that would be?

  • Envelopes won't print correctly to HP Color LaserJet 2550n

I have been having some printing issues since I set up our printer as a Bonjour printer with my AirPort Extreme Base Station. Ironically when I had our HP Color LaserJet 2550n set up as a networked printer on a LAN port of one of our Linksys routers my family had very few printing issues. It was in this configuration that I was able to print an envelope in Pages '08 without any problems. Now I can get the information to print, but if I put in a letter sized piece of paper to 'test' the information prints across the bottom of the page in correct format, but not in the correct orientation for a #10 envelope.
I have gone to page setup and changed the Paper Size to #10 envelope. This did not help. This is so frustrating since I was printing without issue when this printer was on a LAN port of our second Linksys router. I am now using Easy Envelopes from Ambrosia as a work around, but want to be able to print from within Pages '08, and not have to rely on Easy Envelopes or MS Word 2006. I am wondering if this has to do with the drivers that I had to use when I set up this printer on the USB port of my AirPort Extreme Base Station.

Well go figure. When I went to System Preferences/Print and Fax, and it showed two versions of my printer. The one with an accurate picture representing my printer, and one that used Generic Post Script drivers with a picture that did not look like my printer. So I uninstalled both printers, shut down my computer, did some things for awhile, restarted my computer, went to System Preferences/Print and Fax and clicked on the “+” to add a printer. The computer very quickly recognized up my printer with the correct picture for it. I added this printer, and went to Pages ’08 and it printed a #10 envelope without a hitch.
I think that what happened was that I recently did a reinstall of OS X Tiger, and as a part of that install I had a problem with the .DMG file I downloaded from HP’s web-site, and wonder if this is when the generic PS files were installed.
Anyway my printer seems to be working fine now, and maybe this will help someone with the same problem.

  • Printer not printing correct sizes of photos

Canon Pro9000 for some reason does not print photos correctly. I have made all the correct changes on the page setup and no matter what size I choose it prints only a small size photo. If I choose 11 X 14 it prints a photo 7 1/2 X 6. No matter what size paper I choose. It prints well in Easy-PhotoPrint but not in Lightroom 1.4.1 It worked fine before the driver update for Canon Pro9000
    System I'm using is:
    iMac 24"
2.16 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory 2GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    Printer Canon Pro9000
    Adobe Lightroom 1.4.1
    Thank You,
    Mike M.

Had the same problem with Lr 3 and Canon Pro9000.
Flicked the stroke on and off again - for no reason except someone said that worked. Then I used zoom to fit and it worked.
Which is stupid. I am so sick of having to be in problem solving mode all the d**m time.
Next I'll work on the Wacom driver which freezes in Lr3 from time to time - with a complete lack of consistency.
I wonder why software works so badly these days. Shareholders don't care?

  • Can't print correct size in any app using iPad

I'm trying to print pictures on my iPad using either the HP ePrint app or the OfficeSuite Pro app. When I use ePrint, I make sure to Fit to Page but it's still cutting off the bottom of the pic when it prints. I try to Resize > Manual, but it won't let me do anything. I can print portrait pics in OfficeSuite but when I try to print landscape by either turning the pic or turning the orientation of the paper in the program, it still prints the pic in portrait mode. This is driving me crazy. Please tell me somebody has a fix?

    sim888,
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Nice troubleshooting, particularly using another user account to determine it's something in your account that's causing the problem. Without dragging your entire user Library/ Preferences file to the Desktop and then returning .plists a few at a time to watch for the problem to return, you could check your user preferences (.plist) files in Terminal by entering the command:
    find ~/Library -name '*.plist' -exec /usr/bin/plutil -lint {} \;
You can also download Preferential Treatment
I've seen scattered reports of problems using OS X's built-in print-to-PDF when some versions of Adobe software are installed. Are Distiller etc. installed for general use or under the relatively rare single-user access? In the hunting in the dark category, with no programs open, you could look at Activity Monitor in both user accounts and see if you spot any background user (non-system) processes running in your normal user account that aren't in the test user, then force-quit those user processes to see if printing to PDF works without conflicts. I'm not sure what log a failed print to PDF would go into, but you can open Console look through console.log, system.log, and CrashReporter et al. for events timestamped around the time of a failed print-to-PDF attempt. The backtrace of any failure report may provide additional clues.

Actually, Windows XP compatibility mode and C:\Program Files (x86)\ folder are independent of each other.
The x86 folder is where 32-bit programs get installed on Vista 64, regardless of whether they need XP compatibility mode.   The PSE 7 installer will automatically place PSE in the x86 folder, since PSE is a 32-bit program.
There is no need to install PSE 7 on Vista 32 or Vista 64 by running the installer in XP compatibility mode -- that may well be contributing to your problems.   PSE 5.0.2, 6, and 7 are fully Vista compatible.
Another person encountered very similar problems.  He too then downloaded the free trial and had it run successfully.  Then he installed from CD again, and the installer asked to uninstall the free trial; he said "yes" and the CD installation succeeded:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/2242533#2242533
If that doesn't succeed, I can recommend other troubleshooting steps.
