Won't recognize a cd-rw
My iMac (600 MHz PowerPC G3) will not read a CD-RW that just has images on it. My mother read it just fine on her Mac. When I put it in my imac it sounds like it is trying to do something but nothing happens. I can hit the eject button on my keyboard and it comes out. I put a another CD-RW in that had something on it and it read it just fine. Why will it choose not to read the one I want?
CD-RWs are, in my experience, less cooperative than CD-Rs. I never use the RW versions because too many people to whom I send disks find that certain drives don't like every one. The only failures to read were with CD-RWs; everyone could read my CD-Rs. It's possible that her computer has a different make/model of drive and that was enough to produce the difference.
There is no need to use a CD-RW for files one intends to give to someone else.

ITunes won't recognize iPod Nano (1GB, 1st generation)
I have been having problems Sync'ing my iPod nano with iTunes, however, the more I read help articles and follow the steps, the worse the problem gets. (I'm on a PC using Windows XP)
I've gotten to the point where I updated my iPod software in Disk mode (up until then it was being recognized only in Disk mode), but when iTunes failed to recognize it when not in Disk mode I preceded to restore my iPod to factory settings, as instructed in the help articles.
Now, up until then, I still had music in my iPod, and I was being able to charge it and listen to my music even though I couldn't sync the iPod anymore. After restoring, I not only lost my music (which I was aware of), but it STILL did not fix my problem. So I started to get annoyed.
I then noticed that my iPod was being recognized by My Computer, just not by iTunes, so I began to perform the steps indicated in the following article:

I restarted my iPod service - no luck
I removed iTunes - no luck
I emptied my Temp directory and restarted...
That's when iTunes stopped recognizing my iPod altogether, not even in Disk mode. Not only that, but it seems to have affected the iPod itself, since it won't turn off or exit Disk mode anymore. So now I'm scared of going though with any more steps on whichever "help" articles and making the problem even worse than it already is (if that's possible).
The only other information I can provide is that windows is still recognizing my iPod, no problem, and when I connect my iPod, iTunes actually launches... but DOESN'T recognize a thing. So I ran a diagnostics using iTunes and here's what I got (iPod diagnostics):

If anyone could shed some light on my situation, i would be VERY greatful!My IPod Nano will charge when connected to my computer but it won't come up on My Computer or iTunes. So I can't update the songs. I've already tried reseting the iPod. Does anybody know what I can do to fix it.

I understand that your iPod classic is not being recognized in iTunes when you connect it to your computer. I know you have tried some troubleshooting on the Apple website as well, but without knowing which steps you have completed, I would suggest working through the attached iPod classic Troubleshooting Assistant.

I changed my Apple ID to my new email address successfully for the iTunes and App store but it won't work for iCloud and it won't recognize my password. I read that this can't be done. How am I supposed to get into iCloud? I plan on getting rid of my old email address which is my old Apple ID so how is that going to work?

I changed my Apple ID to my new email and now cannot find any way to access icloud. Unfortunately I had allowed icloud to hijack my airbook files, so of course I am afraid I will lose them tomorrow when I exchange my iphone for a new one and cannot keep an icloud account i cannot access. Deskjet 3050 won't recognize wireless network anymore.

Printer quit printing wirelessly. Using the control panel on the printer, I restored defaults. Now it won't recognize any wireless networks. I have unplugged computer, but that didn't help. I don't want to unplug my router, because I will lost all my DVR items (we are on AT&T uverse). Any tips?Run a Wireless Network Test from the Network menu of the front panel. What does it say?
If everything is OK (which I suspect), re-install the printer with the temporary use of a USB cable just as you did originally when you installed it.

I bought this wireless printer last week (5-13-14). I have a working printer that was connected to my husband's work laptop via USB cable, but needed one to connect to our family computer, which is in a different room with the modem/router. My husband travels for work, so I want to be able to print without disturbing him and while he is away on business. I turned the printer on and connected it to my network with the password and printed out the network settings and the wireless report. There are about 8 other wireless networks in range of my printer (we're in a residential neighborhood), but we aren't having a problem with it connecting to someone elses stuff. I went online to download the driver software and it downloaded fine. I clicked on the desktop icon to launch the control panel for the printer and it opened up for me to install the printer. I went through every step and it won't recognize the IP address or the name of the printer, and therefore won't open up for me to do any scanning. Both the printer and PC are connected to the same network, but they won't recognize each other when it comes to going through the HP software to scan or print. I can go into word or something to print and it will let me print wirelessly, but it won't do anything from the control panel of the print software because it thinks the printer hasn't been installed. I've had Windows 8 on this computer since I bought it in 2012, but I have the computer defaulted to go to my desktop instead of the start screen, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I am going to go ahead and remove the device and uninstall everything so I can try again later. If I had known this was going to be a problem, I would have not bought the printer and just kept on doing what we'd been doing.Hello SarahD_07,

I understand you are having some troubles getting the Envy 5530 printing wireless on Windows 8.1. Are you able to take the I.P address of the 5530, type it into the address bar of your web browser and hit enter. Does it load a page about the printer?
Run the Print and Scan Dr to see if it can clear up the scanning issues if you can view that above page.

I have mobile me account now and so my apple id is switched from my email address to my mobile me address. Since I have made this change I can't update my apps. Everytime I try to sign in it won't recognize the switch. I have updated all the proper information on my iphone, however, when updating apps it still shows my apple id as my email address and not the mobile me account address. I am not sure what else to do??? I have even sync'd my iphone and tried to do it through my pc, however, it says that it can't update (nothing to update). I have ten updates sitting on my iphone apps...What to do...what to do? Very confused.
Where are you trying to log in? You should be able to change your ID at http://appleid.apple.com - can you log in there?
Before you change your ID you should log out of the iTunes Store and on any devices which are logged into iCloud. Then once you've changed it you can log back in with the new ID. (Your iCloud synced data will disappear from the device when you do this but will reappear when you sign back in - give it time).
If you are unable to sign into http://appleid.apple.com you will need to contact Support. Go to http://iforgot.apple.com and sign in with your iCloud login. A new password will be sent to your associated email address. If this doesn't work you will have to contact Support. Go to https://getsupport.apple.com . Click' See all products and services', then 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID', then 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'. Envy 17 HDMI won't recognize mutliple displays
I've got a brand new HP Envy 17 j000 Quad Edition laptop.Device manager is showing two display adapters - one for the onboard intel HD graphics and one for the nVidia 740 GT adapter. When I try to connect an external monitor via the display port (HDMI) on the monitor, the system won't recognize it. Two questions:
Why is the internal Intel HD Graphics taking precedence over the nVidia? Typically I would set up multiple displays by this driver, but the Intel HD is the one showing the access ports - and only recognizing the internal connection and a VGA connection (which this system doesn't have).
Is there a preferred connection method - VGA/DVI/DIsplay port? I have the correct display port adapter and a new HDMI cable - both are new.

If you did not set up find my iPhone on the iPod, you can't find it.

So i have a 120GB MacBook that's about 4 years old (just updated to Snow Leopard--been working in Iraq, i'm a little behind).
Never had a problem with it.
I also have an iPhone 4 which i've had for about a year (up-to-date software as of about a month ago).

iPhoto will recognize my phone, but iTunes won't.

I use a WD external hard drive to back my Mac up every week or so.
I recently realized that half of my pictures from iPhoto are not copied to the external.
They haven't been transfering over.
So i snooped through my folders and as it turns out, iPhoto hasn't been copying the pictures i import from my iPhone to iPhoto and saving them as .jpg files in the pictures folder (or iPhoto album or whatever) like i think it's supposed to.
My pictures folder has approx half of all my pictures in it, meaning at some point (probably 2 years ago) iPhoto stopped making the file copies of my imported pictures.
I do not know why.
No idea how to fix it.
If i were able to fix that (with your help), would all the pictures that haven't been copied automatically copy to my pictures folder once i had the issue resolved or would there be a lot of dragging and dropping?
I've been clumsily and sloppily copying all my pictures to a new folder on my desktop and manually transferring that folder to a thumb drive (which i keep in my pocket) and my external (just so i have them in some form) in case my computer crashes or a mortar shell lands on my room and blows my computer up.
Can anyone please help me with any of this?
I can't just stoll down to the Apple store to ask the Genius Bar (I'm in Baghdad) and i don't have Apple Care so no one will help me on the phone when i call Apple.

I just downloaded IOS 6.1.2 on my iPhone 4 and it won't recognize my password. I have reset it on my Apple ID and it still says it's incorrect. What do I need to do?
There are two more things to try. If the first thing you try fails, try the next.
Two Button Reset.
This is the least likely to result in loss of data. Read that again, especially the phrase "least likley."
Unplug the phone form the computer.
Press and hold both the home and the sleep/wake buttons (ignore the red slider) until you see the silver Apple logo.
When you see the logo, let both buttons go.
If this worked, you should see an icon instructing you to connect to iTunes. My guess is that the reset did not work.
DFU Restore
This will very likley result in loss of data.
Plug the iPhone into the computer.
Ensure that it is running the lates version of iTunes and that it has access to the internet.
Press and hold both the home and sleep/wake buttons for exactly eight seconds.
Release only the sleep/wake button but continue to hold the home button for another five seconds.
Let go of the home button, then look at the computer screen for an instructional popup.
The popup should say "iTunes has detected a device in covery mode. . .(etc)" Click accept to all boxes and let iTunes download and install all of the latest device Firmware and Software.
If no popup appears, repeat the above DFU instructions. If you 've never done a DFU, it may take about three attempts to get the timing right. -
