Won't recognize CD player

I'm a Kindergarten teacher and I have a 800 Mhz emac that would intermittently not recognize the kids CD's. So I pulled out the superdrive and replaced with CD burners that came out of 2 other emacs I had and put them both in and the emac doesn't recognize either. At first I thought the CD player was bad... but, what are the chances that BOTH burners are bad?
Is their some sort of reset that will get my emac to see the "new" drives? What kind of test is their to test my first SuperDrive? Maybe something is wiggy in the computer causing it not to see drives all the time.

Hello,
I have an eMac too, and that had happened to my ComboDrive. The thing is, its a BIT of a pain in the *** but I opened up the eMac and took the drive out, put it into a box PC and it worked, took it out and popped it into the eMac and it worked perfectly again. Try it. Its better than buying an external optical drive, or an internal drive. =) Hope this helps.
Regards,
Your Fellow eMac User,

  • Won't recognize new player

bought my husband a cheapie--a Rio 600. I already have an Ipod Mini, so all the songs are loaded into Itunes. However, the rio seems to prefer Windows Media Player. I can't get itunes to recognize the rio is plugged in. Everything I find online about this has to do with a Mac. I'm on a PC. What do I need to do to get itunes to see the Rio? I'm using the latest version of Itunes.

To get iTunes to recognize the Rio, you've got two options.
    1. Petition Apple to support more players (not going to happen because iPods kick *** and there's no reason to plague their software with faulty hardware from Creative and that like).
    2. Sell the Rio and buy an iPod.
Sorry, iTunes started out as a program to fill iPods with music, people only think it's a general music player now; iTunes accepts iPods only, and if you want to put that same music into the Rio, you have to put the music first into WinMediaPlayer, hoping that you didn't make your files AAC, and you won't be able to put any purchased music onto your Rio. There's a work around for that last one about purchased music, but it's really just easier to get an iPod.

  • My computer won't recognize my player is plugged

I have had my Zen for about a year and hasn't had any problems until now. When I plug my player into my computer, it won't recongnize it. I tried plugging it into another computer and it worked fine. I can plug in other USB ports into my computer and they work, but my Zen doesn't. I tried the tips from other posts but I have windows vista and it wasn't compatible. Please help!

My first thought is that it's down to Vista. I dont have it, but people seem to be having a lot of trouble with its recognising various things. Do you have a dual-boot on your PC, ie can you use XP also If so, I'd try booting into XP and see if it reads your player. If it does, then that's your porblem. Solutionwise, I don't know, but I would say check the Microsoft Vista knowledgebase, there might be something in there.Other than that, assuming you have XP SP2, I'd maybe try reinstalling it and see if it picks it up this time. What is it telling you Player not recognised Player not connected Nothing Is it showing up in My Computer Is it seeing it as a dri've, anything Does Windows Media Player see/recognise it'sSorry that's not much help, but I can't think of anything else at the moment....

  • Win 8 64bit IE11 won't recognize flash player

             help please

Flash Player for Win 8 and 8.1 with IE is embedded and maintained by Microsoft. "It's their baby" as the saying goes. You cannot update or reinstall it from here. It can only be updated via Windows Update, and Microsoft released a "Tuesday patch" on November 12 which contained a Flash Player update.
If you're still having troubles, see:  http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/flash-player-issues-windows-8.html  for recommendations to resolve them.

  • My PC won't recognize Zen Micro- please h

I have Windows 98 on an older PC, and am planning on buying a new computer later this year. I received the Zen Micro as a Xmas gift but am just now getting around to loading songs onto it (so my free service is expired). It's supposed to be Windows 98 compatible but the MediaSource won't recognize the player. I downloaded WMP series 9, and it will sometimes not recognize the Micro at all, sometimes recognize it but freeze up when I choose the device, sometimes freeze up when I try to open the Music folder within the Micro, and about in 20 attempts it will recognize the device perfectly and transfer mp3's (after having to be continuously rebooted). I have used my Zen Micro on other computers with Windows XP with no problems at all. Short of shelving my player for 6 mos until I get a new computer with XP or Longhorn, does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion. Although I didn't download new drivers, after speaking with the motherboard manufacturer I went and bought an external powered USB dri've. This didn't really help, so I tried buying a new USB PCI card. Now it works perfectly. I guess there's a problem with my old USB port. Anyway, the tip indirectly solved my problem so thanks.

  • IDVD selectively won't recognize .mp4 format - how to burn for dvd player?

    Hi -
I'm trying to burn a .mp4 movie for my gf's family so they can watch it on their TV instead of my tiny comp. After trying DiskUtility and iTunes (both to no avail, DU wouldn't even allow me to select a .mp4 format to burn on the DVD; iTunes burnt the movie, but it doesn't play on the DVD player ...). I thought I'd try iDVD, but it won't recognize the movie I'd like to burn - says the format is unrecognized. Tried with another movie, same format (.mp4) and it worked just fine.
I'm really at a loss - I didn't expect it would be so difficult to burn a DVD! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Rax

Alright, my results correspond with Russ' hypothesis: both videos I tried are in the same format & at the same FPS, the only difference b/w them is the audio. The one that worked is Stereo (L R), the one that does not is the 5.1.
Unfortunately, I do not have Quick Time Pro, I just have QTP 10.1 that came w/ Lion (& an older version that I added b/c it allows playback speed control). Here, the export options are:
    480p
    720p
    iPod touch & iPhone 3GS
iPad, iPhone 4 & Apple TV
    Audio only
None of these were an obvious choice to me, any suggestions? I've heard something about "Toast", would this be an easier / better option?
Thank you for on-going help. Very much appreicated.
    Kind regards,
    Rax

  • HT2499 Why won't the dvd player recognize a disc?

Why won't the dvd player recognize a disc?  The brand new dvd I insert keepgetting ejected.

Try cleaning the lens of the optical drive.
Use a DVD lens cleaning disk.
If you have a can of compressed air, shoot some in to the slot.
Us a fine microfiber cloth (eyeglasses cleaning cloth) wrapped around a business card and gently insert it into the slot.

  • IDVD won't recognize imovie project

    Hello people.
I have an 09 Mac desktop computer. I have now made seven iMovie projects ranging from ten minutes to almost two hours. Each time I shared the project with iDVD to burn the finished product to disc. Each time I made sure I could play back the movie on our DVD player.
I was able to play back each of these movies on my computer as the files ( I am assuming they were files ) were automatically stored in a movies folder right after they were shared with iDVD from iMovie. Since they take up space on the hard drive, I decided to store the files on an external hard drive. I believe each one copied to the hard drive. Once each one was on the hard drive, I made sure I could play it back. Then I trashed each file on the computer, again making sure right after that I could still play each file on the external drive. They would open in iDVD and I could play them. All was good.
Recently I made another iMovie project of my children's high school play. As I did before, I shared it with iDVD and it appeared to be working as usual. It was to take approx. 30 minutes to create the movie from the project. HERE IS MY FIRST PROBLEM! Usually after the movie is created, it then opens in iDVD and from here I can burn to disc. iDVD did not open! I tried a couple of times and nothing. I then tried a short 30 second clip from iMovie with no titles or transitions or anything. This worked. iDVD opened after creating the short movie. My project is an hour long. Consequently with this project I shared it with the media browser and made it into an avi file. I then used a program ( Toast ) that came with my Roxio Converter ( VHS to DVD ) software to burn the movie to disc.
HERE IS MY NEXT PROBLEM!  I went to view the movies on my hard drive and iDVD won't recognize them. It says it can't find the missing audio and video files. Can anyone help me with this?
    Thanks

    Hello darrenfromnanaimo
Cross your fingers for a satisfactory answer to the "NEXT PROBLEM."  When you copied the iDVD files to your external drive and deleted them on your computer -- hopefully you just deleted the iDVD files and not the iMovie files.  If that's the case, you can reconnect the external iDVD files to the original iMovie files and you're back in business (open the external iDVD project and use it's browser to find the original iMovie files).  If the iMovie files were deleted, that's a more difficult problem -- you'll need to recreate the iMovie files (re-import from the camcorder and re-edit), or you'll have to "rip" your DVDs back into an electronic file (which gives you only the finished product of your original editing, with slightly degraded video resolution).

  • ITunes won't recognize MP3s ripped from CD

Before iTunes was available for Windows, I was using MusicMatch to rip MP3s from Audio CDs....iTunes won't recognize those files...they are not protected...i have consolidated my library and even physically moved the files into the iTunes Music folder...I have deleted my .iml file and reloaded both iTunes and my 'library'...same result...other programs such as Media Player recognize and play these specific files, so I am at a total loss..Windows Explorer tells me that these files will open with iTunes, but when I select 'Open With..', iTunes will start but the song never plays and isn't added to my library...I spent hours and hours and hours ripping these CDs...is there a setting or preference that I am missing? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The headers on the problem tracks may be nonstandard or corrupted (this can happen with some MP3 conversion or import utilities). If you search the web for "mp3 repair" you'll find a number of repair tools. Here's one I've seen mentioned:
    VBRfix.
I haven't tried any of the versions of this, so I can't attest to how well (or indeed if) they work.
    Hope this helps.

  • Facebook does not recognize Flash Player

I have tried to install and uninstall Flash Player from Facebook multiple times and it still won't recognize it.  I just did the test on your site to see if the program is installed on my computer and it says it does recognize the program on our computer, and the clouds move in the picture to test it.  However, when I go to add an album of pics on Facebook it keeps telling me to download the program?
    HELP!
    Thank you.

Problem is, you have THREE factors involved here.
    1. Microsoft, who now embeds their OWN modified Flash Player in IE.
    2. Facebook, who has to keep up with three OS's (Windows, Mac and Linux), and more than a dozen different browsers.
    3. Adobe, who makes the Flash Player for three OS's and more than a dozen different browsers.
Guess which two Adobe CAN'T control?
As I posted, BOTH Microsoft and Facebook have acknowledged the problem with IE11 and Facebook. That's where the problem lies. This wasn't a major issue before IE11 was released.

  • Computer won't recognize Zen V plu

The same thing happened about a month ago, the computer won't recognize my 2gb zen v plus.. Then I just reinstalled the programs, and everything was normal. It recharges my player normally, but I can't add any songs, videos, pictures etc. The player hasn't fallen down or anything. It's about 6 months old (bought in October. When I open My Computer, there isn't even a removable disc or sth. So, could anyone give me some advise?

When I purchased my Sleek Photo last spring, I had the exact same problem. My PC via Windows Update was up to date, and I knew it wasn't my hardware, USB drivers, etc. as I have another player (a Rio) that worked fine. I found this thread, and followed what the poster <EM>DM</EM> had said. This worked perfectly, make sure you follow the directions, and see if your PC is compatable with DM's fix. I hope this hel

  • Upgrade won't recognize the hard disk to begin the installation

Powerbook G4 w/ 9.2.2 & the original CD for OS X 10.1 - thought I'd get it on and upgrade from there since I know I'll need to buy more RAM - existing is 385 & I only have 10 G on the system. I downloaded several updates, ran the security update first. The 10.1.1 update won't recognize the hard disk to begin the installation.Thought I had a clue, but stuck in the jungle upgrading. Which one is which - is Jaguar 10.2??? Do I need to be doing each of these upgrades to get it running well until I add the RAM? I'm trying to stay calm since it updated my IE and I think I lost everything I had on it - too fast with the click and assumed they were separate entities....(unless there is a genius out there who can help on that front too)
    many thanks... Kate

Hi Kate! And Welcome To Discussions!
You're lucky Kappy is helping you out with this. He is one of the more knowledgable posters here!
I'm just adding some extra info.
There are two PowerBook models that need a Firmware Update, before you can install a newer OS X.
Check if one of them is yours.
Mac OS X Versions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4, are complete system upgrades that must be purchased.
The point upgrades, such as 10.1.x to 10.1.5 (Final) 10.2.x to 10.2.8 (Final), 10.3.x to 10.3.9 (Final), and 10.4.x to 10.4.6 (Pending), can be downloaded for free.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
Jaguar and Panther, are no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
Jaguar Full Retail Version CDs, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version of the Tiger Install DVD, can be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, AppleRescue, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Jaguar and Panther are only on CDs, not DVDs.
More info here Tip: Using OS X Install CDs/DVDs On Multiple Macs
Once Jaguar 10.2.x is installed, you can use the 10.2.8 combo update,
or if Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final edition of either OS.
If your Mac meets the System Requirements for Tiger, you could also consider installing that.
And then use the 10.4.6 Combo Update.
You'll find System Requirements in these links:
    Panther
    Tiger
    Additionally,
"Tiger ships on a DVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you’ll need CD media. When you buy Mac OS X Tiger, you qualify to purchase Tiger CDs for only $9.95."

gosh, i'm not the only one.. i have a similar problem with my zen xtra and i posted this message three times in three different places with people having the same problem (!!).. the system recognizes the mp3 player, the drivers are installed, but the file manager says it's not connected and i can't add music. i tried to reload the os but it was a big mistake because i deleted it and i have to install a firmware update. but how can i do it, if it says not connected?

  • Computer won't recognize my 6GB Creative Zen Mi

I have tried all night to try to get my Creative Zen Micro up and running. I recently lost all my songs and it started back up and running again except the computer won't recognize my device. What should I do? I just want to add all my songs back but it won't read it. What is going on?

    newmanm wrote:
I'm running Windows XP SP2 and the firmware on the Zen is .02.05 (which is what came installed).
Is the player still showing this firmware? I assume you can boot it normally, if so check System > Information just to be sure.
When you connect the player to the PC, what's showing in Device Manager? Is the player listed without error and with a driver version?

  • My comp won't recognize my

I have my Zen docked and my computer won't recognize it. I have been under every system check on my hard dri've and it keeps looking for the device, but no matter how many times I unplug and re-plug it in, it is never recognized. Please help me before I throw it through a wall.

Megan, I may have a solution to your problem (and a lot of other people around here). I just found a post (not on this site) that informed me of a conflict between Creative's Software and Windows Media Player . I am a victim of this conflict as well.
I simply removed the Creative software. It detects fine in WMP. If you prefer to use CL's software, you can downgrade to WMP0 and take your chances trying to upgrade it again.
Here is a link to the original article I found so they may receive their just reward for figuring it out. http://www.anythingbutipod.com/forum/showthread.php?t=25477
I don't recall any warnings from Creative on WMP conflicts during the install process. Perhaps a re-release of the drivers with appropriate warnings are in order?
