Won't reset after passing SDRAM Test??

I turned my IPOD on lastnight and found it performing a SDRAM Test. According to the results, the blinking my IPOD is doing apparently means I passed the test. However it is frozen there. I have attempted to reset it by pressing the select and menu keys to no prevail. I have plugged it inot my computer, but my computer didn't recognize it.
Is it broken??? Please help. I love my IPOD

my ipod is doing the SDRAM full test, and the BL is on, showing that it is running..should i just leave it? I've tried pressing the buttons but nothing happens, and also, the comp doesnt recognise it when i plug it in.
when you disconnected your battery did you lose all your songs and movies?
thanks

My card is mobility radeon hd 5700, I'm running on x86_64 system. I'm using aticonfig generated xorg.conf. I will provide any other information if needed.
    I've tried:
    - to downgrade to catalyst 12.8 and xorg 1.12 (screen just freezes after trying to get to X, only poweroff button works (system catches the signal and shuts down softly - no errors in Xorg.0.log))
    - to use catalyst-total 13.1 / catalyst-generator 13.1 (Xorg.0.log says something about *not* compatible module - i can try it again and give you the whole log, it is probably another problem)
    - to use open-source drivers (poor performance, overheating)
    - to check nomodeset option (present at all kernel images in generated grub.cfg)
Unfortunately, I could not find any similar issue solved in past few days...

Downgrading kernel to 3.7.4 actually worked for catalyst 13.1. Anyone knows what could be wrong for linux 3.7.5?
Edit: catalyst-test 13.2 beta works with linux 3.7.4.

  • Workbook won't open after import into test environment - Function Related

    Hi Experts,
We have a disco report that uses a custom database function. The function has been registered and is valid in the development environment and the report works fine.
We have exported the business area, report and relevant functions from the development environment and imported them into the test environment (Using diso admin import/export tool) in the following order:
    1. Functions
    2. Business Area
    3. Workbook
There were no errors during the import with the exception of a failed grant which was my logon and does not exist in the target environment.
When I attempt to open the workbook in the test environment I receive the following error message: Item dependancy"" not found in the EUL. Attempt to open workbook failed.
At first I though that this was a folder developer key issue because I did have to change the id of a folder that this report uses however I have re-synced the ID's by ensuring the eul id's were different and I have decompiled the workbook using the d51wkdmp tool and I have confirmed that the workbook is looking at the correct items.
I noticed that the workbook had three function references so in the development environment I deleted the fields that used the functions and re-imported the workbook, guess what it worked OK meaning that the folder ID's etc... are ok and all in sync.
I attempted to create a new workbook in the test environment that used the imported function. When I did I got an error message saying that there was too many parameters for the function, exactly the same process works in the development environment and the calculation creates ok. I checked the function definition in discover administrator (test environment) and the function is correct, parameters present and validates OK exactly the same as the dev environment however when I try to use it discoverer plus falls over!!!!
Any ideas/pointers, at the moment I can't see how this can be anything except a bug in the import utility as the function is OK in Development and doesnt work in Test, we have used the standard export/import tools.
    Thanks
    Keith

    Hi Rod,
This error is occuring with functions that only have 2 or 3 parameters. My standard install processes do use the refresh option.
I have been following this up with Oracle Support and they have managed to replicate the bug in there environment. It has something to do with optional parameters, when you change all the parameters to required it works ok however I have other functions that have optional parameters that do work ok so it is clearly not just the presence of optional parameters that is causing the problem.
This is the first time (and probably the last) that I have tried to do disco migration using the admin import tool I have always used the command line interface to automate installs in the past, as I havn't run into this before I would imagine the bug is not present in the command line tool.
I will post an update when I hear back from Oracle Development on a fix.

  • Mac Pro Won't Boot, Hard Drives Are Fine, Passes Hardware Test

I have a Mac Pro 1,1 that will not boot anymore.  The hard drives are just fine.  I put them into another Mac Pro 1,1 and they started up fine and that computer is running great.  I have replaced the RAM, put in new Hard Drives, I only have a keyboard, mouse, and display plugged in to it, and it still won't boot.  What happens is this:
Boots up, shows the gray screen.  Shows Apple Logo.  Goes to Black with mouse cursor, stays at the black screen.  I can move the mouse cursor as normal.  Sometimes it turns into a color wheel, but most of the time it's a normal pointer.
I have run the hardware test several times, both quick and extended.  Everything always passes the tests.  I can boot into target disk mode and use the disks fine via firewire.  When I try to boot from a Lion USB disk, or a Snow Leopard DVD, it always does the same as above and stops at the black screen.  Basically, once it gets to the point where it loads an OS X system, it stops at the black screen as if something isn't working right.  Any thoughts?

once it gets to the point where it loads an OS X system, it stops at the black screen as if something isn't working right.
That is the point at which the graphics card starts the Mac OS X loaded graphics Driver, and it may indicate that your graphics card is broken.
Try Safe Mode (hold down Shift at Startup). It takes five minutes to check the Boot drive, then display a login screen. You need your username and password to proceed, even if you normally auto-login.
Safe Mode uses only "simple" graphics. It does not load the graphics driver.
If you need a replacement card, I recommend you skip over all the refurbished and repaired old graphics cards and install nothing older than the Apple-Firmware 5770, about US$250. It works in every model Mac Pro, and drivers are in 10.6.5 and later.

  • HP4275A can not pass self test after running the labview program

I am using Labview to control HP4275A LCR meter. The Labview program is just the instrument driver for the HP4275A, and it works great. Before running the program, the instrument can pass both Open and Short test perfectly. But after running the program, it can not pass self test, neither Open nor Short. I don't know why?? Is it relative to my Labview program??
    Thanks

Thank you so much for your help. Yes, the instrument is in Local after running the instrument driver. In normal Open self test, just choose Capactiance as the Display A, and leave the four output terminals open then press the Self Test button. The Open self test will start and "OP" will be shown in the DIsplay A window, after 2 seconds, the open test will be finished. If something abnormal, the number of the abnormal step is displayed in Display A. Similar with the Short test.
The problem I had was: before running the instrument driver, the self tests pass; but after running the instrument driver, the Open and Short test show abnormal, Open test is abnormal at step 17, and Short test is abnormal at step 24.
And the instrument driver is only write commands into the instrument and then read back measuring values from it. Nothing else. So I am not sure if the problem is my instrument driver.
The weird thing is the problems happened several times and then if I do the Open and Short self test again after running the instrument driver, both pass. I am not sure whether the problem will come back or not.
    Ia there any help??
    Big thanks

My messages app won't open, after I sent a large iMessage. I think it just has too much data on it. What can I do other then reset my iPhone?

Hi everyone, I had this problem but none of the solutions above worked. What happened with me, and with others in other forums, is that a particular thread or message was causing the problem. I'd go to open the message and all I'd get was a white screen with the blue bar at the top. So, I went into contacts, pressed 'send message' to a contact whose message wasn't causing the problem, then I pressed back to messages. You then swipe to the left on the thread that's causing the problem, and delete it. Sadly this means you will lose all that person's messages, but you can try opening it from there and deleting it on the thread. Didn't work for me though. Hope that helps! It was the only thing that worked for me after about three days of total frustration and resetting!

  • Warning message After Pass correction to test Phase

While transporting a request through Change request management, after pass correction to test, the system shows a warning message 'No Import into test system has taken place yet'. And further, Logon to System message takes us to the Development system and not into Quality system. On further drill down, it was found that if the STMS Queue for Quality is manually refreshed
after the pass correction to test phase, this warning disappears and Logon to system takes us to Quality system itself. And this manual refreshing has to be done for each and every ticket. Kindly provide a solution to skip this warning message and also to avoid this manual refreshing of the Transport queue. Please Help.
    Regards
    Manu

    Manu,
Do you get this warning right away when you choose the "Pass Correction to Test" action and hit save, or does it take a few minutes?
We had an issue where ChaRM was timing out when the import was running.  The Import lasted more than 25 or so seconds, so ChaRM gave up and said it didn't happen, when in fact it was just not finished yet.  We increased the time that ChaRM waits for the import to finish and now it works perfectly.
In case this is your issue, you can increase the time ChaRM waits for the import to finish by adding the parameter CHECK_NTIMES_SOCM to the user profile of the person performing the import.  The default value is 5, which means that ChaRM checks the import status 5 times (5 second intervals).  Our security transports were taking over 2 minutes, so we had to make the value of the parameter 60 (60 checks in 5 second intervals).
    Hope this helps,
    Michele

  • TS3694 MY PHONE WON'T START AFTER A RESET

My phone won't work after i reset all contents

Try DFU Mode Restore. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both Home and Power button, after exactly 10 seconds release the Power Button, keep holding the Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds time. If the iPhone screen is black, blank this is DFU Mode. Click the Restore button of iTunes. DFU Mode can be difficult to enter sometimes, just keep trying. DFU Mode is a black, blank screen with iTunes saying Recovery Mode.

  • OS won't start after PRAM reset

I was having problems with my battery, so I tried to reset the PRAM to see if that would help, but now I have a whole new issue...When I try to start up my computer, I get a circle with a slash through it (a symbol that usually means 'no'). This shows up right after the apple logo when I try to start up my laptop.
I used disk utility on my installation cd to check if there was a problem with my hard drive, but it said it was ok.
What did I do? Do I have to reinstall my OS, will that even help?
    Thanks for you help.

  • SDRAM test reinstallation

I had to do an SDRAM test on my Ipod, which passed.  However, when I try to reset, it won't happen.  I tried toggling the hold switch, and then resetting, pushing the Menu and center button for over 6 seconds, again with no luck.  How can I get it started without having to do a reinstall?  Or, if I have to do a reinstall, how do I backup all my data beforehand?
    Thanks - Caroline Pyne

  • Macbook pro won't boot after installing update 10.9.3

macbook pro won't boot after installing update 10.9.3

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Mac mini won't boot after RAM upgrade.

Tried installing new RAM in my Mac Mini, 512MB stock to 2GB of Crucial. Followed the directions to a T, grounded myself the whole time.
    Things I've tried so far:
    1. Resetting the PRAM, no luck.
    2. Holding option at start-up, shows no icon.
    3. Holding shift, no luck.
    4. Holding X, nothing.
How do I get it to accept a CD if it won't boot?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
You clearly have a problem, but you don't describe exactly what that is other than that your mini won't boot after the upgrade. What happens when it starts up? Does it attempt to start and hang up on the grey or blue screens, or does it start beeping at you almost immediately after you try and start it up, and also flash the power light?
If the former, then you may have dislodged a connector while working inside the system, in which case opening it up and checking that everything is firmly connected would be the first thing to do. If the latter, then the beeping/light flashing is the system telling you it has failed the power-on self test and the pattern of beeps/lights indicates why. In your case likely the system can't find workable memory. In that instance, opening the system and ensuring that the RAM is firmly and fully seated would be a good step, and if the mini continues to fail, then replacing the new RAM with the original to test that the system will then start.
It is not likely that anything had damaged your MacOS install in the process of upgrading, thus normally no reason to need to boot to CD as a result of a RAM issue.

  • Mac Mini won't boot after update

I have a Mac Mini that won't boot after the most recent software update. Since the Mini has only a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, a number of the usual options (hold down shift, etc.) won't work. I've tried a reset, also no luck. At the moment, I can't locate my Tiger install CD either.
When holding the power button on during boot, I get a series of flashes from the status light on the front (a set of very rapid flashes, followed by a slower set, followed by a slow set) but no startup chime, or fan, or video. My display and power source are both known-good (work fine with my Powerbook)
Any suggestions, other than buying a hardwired keyboard/mouse?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
The 'newer version of OS X" error occurs because the installer on the DVD you have booted to has by default been set to update the version of MacOS on the hard drive, which of course it can't do because the version of MacOS it is installing is newer. The only way to install in this situation is to select a different option. However, that isn't what you want to do at this point, because as it says, you'll loose your data if you do an 'erase and install'.
Instead, you should see menus at the top of the screen when it's booted to that install disk. Click the Utilities menu, select Disk Utility, and then click the top entry for the internal hard drive on the left. Once done, click on the 'Repair Disk' button (not Repair Permissions). This will test the drive to make sure it's OK. If it reports errors, and then reports 'error or exit' with the drive not repaired, you will either need a 3rd party application such as Alsoft's Disk Warrior, or to perform an erase and install (which of course you don't want to do at this point because your data is not backed up).
If the Repair Disk process completes with no errors, next select Repair Permissions, and let that process complete, then reboot the system as normal to see if you can now access the drive.

The thread looks familiar to me. I just came from Nokia Care Center a while ago and left my Nokia E5-00 phone there with the same problem as everyone else on the thread.
I am from the Philippines and my Nokia E5-00 was made in Korea, sent to Hong Kong, and then sold here in the Philippines. That is a lot of cost saving activities to do.
I previously had my first Nokia E5-00 a week ago, Monday. It felt like I am the happiest man in the Philippines. You know, the "I have a Smartphone!" proud feeling of a young man.
But all excitements turned into saddening experience. My contacts are not accessible from theMenu and the Shortcut (default: right selection key) making it inconvenient to create a message or call a contact.
That was a different issue. So I made my phone replaced and last Sunday, 2 days ago, I had my new Nokia E5-00 unit.
    Yey!
The contacts were good as all other applications were.
Then, I started having problems as everyone else in the thread experienced. The phone had a bad restart habit and it was, in fact, irritating. It was tolerable at first. Not bad for a replacement phone. I was not much bothered with the restarts.
Then, I was able to start utilizing GPS, like I would get lost. It was an amazing experience for someone here in the Philippines. I was proud to have a good working GPS in my phone!
But, unluckily, 30 minutes after the fun. I set my phone to go back to work and WALAH! My phone shuts down after transferring some files. Good thing my Nokia E5-00 finished all transfers before dying out.
It was not quite the Nokia Smartphone I expected. And, that was really disappointing. Thank you im_mobile for the term.
I did not expect to see these much people complaining problem with Nokia E5-00. Same as everyone else experienced.
How should Nokia fix this? I am not in the position to say this, but Nokia should (1) recall these defective Nokia E5-00 products (Thanks magnum_jon) and (2) replace all defective units from unsatisfied customers.
I think Nokia will not get hurt from returned phones. In fact, they will have the benefit of immediately finding out what the problem is and they will be able to fix this immediately if they get all of our defective Nokia E5-00 units. They can (1) isolate the problem, (2) test as many phones as they want, (3) find out the problem and (4) make a happy customer.
These much claims is not tolerable. This is degrading Nokia. I believe Nokia has seen much already, and I am hoping that by the time they read my post, it would be the last.
And the next reply to this thread would be a happy customer with a newly replaced, non-defective, Nokia device.
    Thanks,
    Eljun Pacomios.
