hi just bought my ipad 2 yesterday and i plug it into my pc windows xp and it will not show up on my itunes on the left bar?

I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Before you reinstall the Apple software, also remove iCloud vi Control Panel Remove programs. The reinstall the Apple programs
New cable and different USB port?

Place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore the iPod via iTunes on your computer. For recovery mode:

Howdy carpetjim,
When you change the folder location like that, it changes where new songs and media are stored. To actually load the library you need to do this:
Steps to create or choose a different iTunes Library file
If iTunes is running, quit iTunes.
If you are using Windows, hold down the Shift key and from the Start menu and choose All Programs > iTunes > iTunes.
If you are using the Mac, open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option key.
You should see one of the following screens:
Additional information
If you do not see one of the screens above, then you did not hold the correct key at the correct time. You may want to try again. Note that if you pinned iTunes to the Start menu programs, and open it that way, it may not work.

TS1538 My iphone 5s won't show up on my itunes

My phone does show up on windows when I plug it inbut not in iTunes. I've tried everything that it says to do under support as well as uninstalling itunes and reinstalling it but it still won't show up. Is anyone having the same issue? I'm using the latest version of itunes and iOS and am running windows 8.

Songs won't show on iphone5 but itunes on Mac says they are there.

Hi guys,
On my iTunes on my Mac it shows that there are songs and playlists on my iphone (both when usb plugged in and on wifi) but on the actual device they won't show. Only about 10 songs show up. There is plenty of storage space on the device and they were there before but disappeared after an update. I've tried re-syncing and dragging them over manually but nada. Some of the playlists show but are empty on the device. Any ideas? Thanks.

It sounds like you may want to try restoring your phone and then re-syncing the content from your computer to see if the information will show up after that procedure. Information on doing that can be found right here:

Hey everyone, I've looked around for threads on this for a few days now but either nothing was worked or it was very outdated and still didn't work.
To the point, my cousin bought a new iphone 3g and as a gift he gave me his iphone 2g. It worked fine but had all of his information as he didn't do anything to it but give it to me. I assume it has the newest firmware and what not as he was using it about a week ago. I plugged it into my computer but it didn't show on my computer or itunes. I installed the new itunes and while doing so tried to restore (Sleep + Home) and now it's stuck in the USB wire pointing at the Itunes symbol.
So now it won't turn on past that last notice and still won't show up on my computer and itunes. I've tried restarting, reinstalling, restoring, everything that's pretty common at least and still nothing. The phone doesn't show up in the Device Manager either and I've tried 2 different computers and 2 different wires. I'm getting sad at this point as i want to use it! No jailbreak or unlock that I know of also if that matters. If i left anything out please let me know.

i've had the same problem as narcky: screen shows usb cord with arrow pointing to itunes symbol. i've deleted and re-installed the latest version of itunes, no luck. this happened while i was trying to download the latest version of software for the iphone. i've even tried searching for the iphone in the list of usb drivers and all i get is the recovery iboot, which i dont even know what that means.also tried pressing home button and power button at same time, screen still shows cord with itunes symbol. i've tried everything, nothing seems to work. HELP?

My iPhone 5s won't show up under devices, iTunes, or iMovie. Why?

I just set up my Mac Mini last night. It is not the newest one. But was brand new in a box. It has all updates to the newest operating system, exc.
I plugged my iphone 5s into the Mac Mini to upload to iMovie to edit a video. But, my device wont show up. I checked Finder - Nothing. It just wont show up.
I tried unplugging and plugging it back in, and noticed that it shows up on imovie for a few minutes like it knows it there, but it just says "Iphone 4" - The number goes up each time it back in. But it sits there with the spinning load sign for about a minute then goes blank.
I have no idea what is going on, or why it wont read my phone.
If anyone knows why this is happening, and how i can fix it, I would really appreciate it.

I cannot see my son's iPod now when I plug it in to my laptop. It gives error message saying that iPod needs upgraded 10.6.3 to work.
We cannot update iPod to 10.6.3 for some reason. But what is really strange is that it won't even show up when we plug it in to try to update! I do not have a MAC please don't say that's the problem haha, i have an older laptop with Windows running, maybe Windows 2000, not sure (how would I find out what is installed on the comupter?) My ipod works fine and so do our other 2. It's just his iPod? I have an older 64g touch, but his siblings all have the same 4th generation, bought at the same time from the same store.
Any ideas or suggestions?

You need at least XP with service pack 3. Go to Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance (for XP)>System,

Iphone music won't show up on my iTunes

Hi so I just got a new laptop for xmas and when I plug my iPhone 4 completely updated into my iTunes also updated, itunes recognizes the iPhone but only has the actual iPhone icon rather than the usual music and playlists underneath. I have recently moved from Australia to Singapore as well so I had to create a new Singapore account and have forgotten my password on my Australian account and therefore don't have the music I had on my old account available on iTunes. But the music I have on my iPhone is the music that is on my old account. So what I want to know is how do I get my music on my iPhone to show on iTunes so i can play the music on there without having to use a separate program to either play or transfer the music to iTunes.
If I could avoid it I don't really want to download another program to help and I would like to avoid having to store my music on my laptop because of space and temptation when in school. I would just like to be able to keep the music on my iPhone and no where else in other words.
Also I have authorized everything for the new laptop.

Iphone 3.0 beta 2 won't show up properly in itunes

I recently installed the 3.0 beta 2 and something odd has happened. The phone shows up under iTunes's DEVICES sidebar when I plug the phone into the USB port, but nothing happens when I click on it in the sidebar. The iPhone item is highlighted but I don't get the familiar set of tabs that lets me get a summary, sync the phone and so on.
Is there a way to fix this problem so I can sync the phone once again to my itunes library. The phone is working properly but with none of my email, calendars, contacts or music.

I bought my son an IPod touch for x-mas. he let a friend use it who has an Iphone and his friend (somehow) upgraded it to 3.0. He lost all of his music and applications. When he connects it to my computer now it will not sync. I tried to restore it but we get an error messaage. Is there anyway to restore it back like it was?

Aperture pictures won't show up in finder/itunes

I was recently having some weird issues with my OS. So I backed up all my files, did a clean install, and manually moved everything back into place. Everything seemed to be working great. I didn't realize it until today when I tried to put some pictures on my new iPad, but I cannot access my pictures in iTunes to put on my iPad or through finder (photos) to upload to something like facebook.
When I try to upload pictures to my iPad it says:
your aperture library could not be found. Open the preference window in Aperture and enable the preference to share previews with other applications.
Went and checked the preferences in aperture and it shows always allow.
When I go to upload a picture to facebook or Flickr I choose photos and the only option is iPhoto, no aperture.
Any suggestions?

Think I spoke too soon. I just synced 7000 photos with my Apple TV and thought everything was good to go. Now I just took some more pictures and imported them into Aperture and now iTunes says my Aperture Library has 0 photos! I repeated this routine of switching to an empty library and back, but it doesn't work any more!!! Help!

I've had a recent issue with downloading songs from the store, and they won't show up in my iTunes library, only in my purchased playlist. Anyone know how to get recent purchases to show in the music library?

when you play the CD in your laptop on your home screen a Cd should pop up under the name of the album. Than when you open itunes it will probly say something like "let this CD download" or something like that. If it doesn't than automaticlly while the CD is importing to your itunes a page will pop up with a progess of the CD download.
