  • Netflix won't stream video

I just set up a new Apple TV unit and can't get netflix to stream. My account is active and I can sign in and see up to date viewing history. It just won't stream when I press play, it will just show the circular shape made up of radial lines moving and this last time "an error occurred loading this content." Message shows up... Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

I guess all it took was me making a post... It's working now!

  • ICloud TV and movies won't stream on iPad4 and iphone 5

iCloud TV and movies won't stream on iPad4 and iphone 5.. I get a black loading screen then it reverts back to the movie or tv show page after about to seconds any ideas? Server glitch on apples end?

FCC rules prohibit Verizon from locking down the SIM slot on new devices as part of the agreement for the wireless spectrum auction that they won. There have been numerous reports of issues with some functions from people using the Verizon iPhone 5 on other carriers.  Basic phone functionality should work, however, the Verizon and AT&T networks use incompatible LTE frequencies.
The Verizon iPhone 5 has never been advertised or otherwise officially represented as "Unlocked". Apple does not use the term "Factory Unlocked" at all.

  • Videos won't stream (eg youtube) and safari very slow

Hi, I have 2 problems and would really appreciate any help
1 - safari very slow to open pages and has been like this for weeks. I have seen a solution to change to 'opendns' under System preferences > network > advanced tab but I cannot see an option for that. I think this may be my problem as Google always opens quickly. Can anyone elaborate on this solution?
2 - Videos won't stream and just hang with circle (e.g on sites like youtube) which started about 1 week ago. Only thing I have done differently is watching megavideos on unknown site. I have tried the solutions given under other threads (e.g. deleting cache files and uninstalling and reinstalling adobe flash). This seemed to help slightly the first time I tried it but still took approx 60s to stream 1 minute video. Has now reverted back to not streaming.

To set up a test account, open System Preferences > Accounts, click on the padlock icon to unlock it, then click on the "+" sign, name the account "test" and leave the password field blank, since you don't need the account that long; you can delete it later.
Quit System Preferences, log out of the regular user account and into the test account, then try using Safari to load pages and videos to see if the problem continues there.
Other things you can try in your regular user account that may help your problem or solve it are this:
    1. Go to Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
    2. Go to Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Web Page Previews and delete the contents of that folder.
    3. If you don't want to use the Top Sites or Cover Flow features, open Terminal and paste in this command:
defaults write com.apple.Safari DebugSnapshotsUpdatePolicy -int 2
then press Enter or Return and quit Terminal
    4. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Metadata/Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
    5. Go to Home/Library/Caches/Safari and delete the contents of that folder.
    6. Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete these files (if you have them):
    Downloads.plist
    History.plist
    Form Values
    LastSession.plist
    WebpageIcons.db
Then Repair Permissions, restart Safari and see if the speed is improved.

  • Shared iTunes library won't stream on Apple TV

I'm using a Time Capsule (connected via Ethernet to my DSL modem) + Airport Express (to extend my network). Everything is working quite well and Apple TV is connected to my iTunes as a shared library so I can watch streamed movies on my TV (I'm not interested in syncing content to the Apple TV). One problem: the movies won't stream. I get a black TV screen with a progress bar on the bottom, and more often than not this will hang at 00:00, or the blue line will start to progress across agonizingly slowly (I come back a half hour later and it's 1/3 of the way across for a 30 min. program) and the actual show will never begin to play.
What gives? I tried restarting my computer and resetting the Apple TV, but the problem persists. I just can't stream.
I'm running the latest versions of Mac OS, iTunes, and Apple TV, BTW.
    TIA for suggestions!

I decided to do a factory restore to see if that would solve the problem. Everything went fine and the Apple TV joined my network just fine. However, the software was again V1 so I went to Update Software and chose to download the latest version. The wheel has been turning on "Downloading Software" for almost 2 hours! There is no way to see how fast it's downloading or how much progress there is.
I'm really starting to think that Apple TV is having a major bandwidth problem but I have no clue what to do about it. The 3 other computers on the network have normal speeds (and only one other is running, but not doing any bandwidth-hogging activities), so it's not the actual network, just Apple TV's connection. What could be causing this?

  • 2nd generation Apple TV won't stream iTunes content

I upgraded the software on my 2nd generation Apple TV about ten days ago and now it won't stream my iTunes content that is on my PC (Windows 7) upstairs.  I keep getting the message that the Home Sharing feature on iTunes is not turned on, however, that is definitely not the case.  I am running the latest version of iTunes and have tried restarting, restoring, and resetting Apple TV but nothing has worked.  My router and cable modem are working fine and I am able to stream content from my iPad and iPhone to the Apple TV via AirPlay.  For some unknown reason, the icon in iTunes that lets me decide which speakers I want to use via AirPlay (iPod vs Apple TV) is not present in iTunes.  I can't figure out how to fix this problem.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

  • My iPhone 4Gs won't stream video

My iPhone 4s won't stream video for more than a few seconds on a time before it has to buffer. I can't get through a 10 second video on facebook or youtube without going through this. Help!

Wifi or the regular network. When I say stream I just mean watching a video on my phone- nothing to do with ATV.

  • Itunes Match won't stream certain tracks after IOS 6.1 update

OK...so...I updated to IOS 6.1 and now itunes match won't stream ANYTHING over 45 minutes long if it's over a 3G connection and not wireless.  Being that itunes match is primarily for use outside of the house i'm wondering; how can this be useful to anyone?  I have a lot of shows on my itunes that are three hours long but now (due to the update) i can't listen to any of them...unless i'm in the house...which is not why i bought itunes match.  Anyone got any ideas as to why this is happening?

I'm unfortunately in exactly the same situation. Following update to 6.1 on my iPhone 5, I'm prompted every 10 seconds to enter my iTunes password if I re-enable iMessage logged in as my iTunes account rather than phone number.
I have not found a way to make it stop prompting so iMessage is currently not useable by me.  This is quite frustrating, Apple's standards have been on a rapid decline for some time. I'm at the point now where I'm reluctant to install updates when they come out due to the frequent regressions such as this I've encountered.
If anyone has a solution, I'd love to know.

  • Itunes 8.2.23 upgrade, now won't stream music via airport express

i (mistakenly) installed yesterday's upgrade to itunes and now when i stream music to my airport express it will play a couple of songs and then i won't get any sound. the song is still "playing" in itunes but it isn't being streamed to my digital receiver. if i pause the song and start it again i'll hear it but after a bit a new song will do the same thing.
i seem to remember having this problem after the last update but can't remember what i did to remedy it. i think i reverted back to the previous version but i'm hearing that i can't do that from this version.

Hey I'm on the phone with the Apple Rep now ( who will remain nameless ) here are the steps:
    1. System Prefs
    2. Go into SECURITY
    3. Click on FIREWALL
    4. Select SET ACCESS FOR SPECIFIC SERVICES AND APPLICATIONS
    5. Click the "+" Button to "Add" iTunes
    6. Restart iTunes
You may need to "Add" Other Stuff that you normally use like Skype, Or Logmein.com, etc...
I believe that in the the future Apple may have a better fix for this... the rep is saying he will escalate it...
Seems to be working fine... we'll see who it goes long term and after some restarts... I'm not sure if it's because of the work we did re-installing and changing setting but I'm getting the soccer ball of death right now... be curious to see what others find out.

  • BDP-S3100 won't stream Amazon Prime

If anyone else has had this specific problem and can shed some light I will be very grateful. This bluray player is about a year old.  We've been using it to stream both Netflix and Amazon Prime for the past year.  A few days ago we started having a problem with Amazon Prime.  When the app starts it let's me browse for a show or movie without issue.  I select what I want to watch and then it checks the internet connection.  It reports the speed to be between 30 and 40 Mbps on average.  The problem comes right before it would normally start to stream the video.  It just sits there with the little wheel spinning, usually for about a minute before the message appears - "The network is down." I have checked to see if Amazon Prime is experiencing an outtage.  When the problem first occurred it looked like maybe they were.  One website showed numerous outtage reports for Amazon Prime right after Christmas.  But currently there doesn't seem to be any widespread problem and I've not been able to stream for over a week now. My internet connection is fine.  All other wired and wireless devices are not having any issues. I have reset my cable modem and router.  This did not fix the problem. I have tried a wired and wireless connection to the bluray player.  The problem exists both ways. I have reset the bluray player to its factory settings.  This did not fix the problem. I have confirmed that I'm able to stream Amazon Prime on other devices using the same modem/router.  We can stream Amazon Prime videos on our laptops without issues. That's everything I can think of that we've tried.  I'm starting to wonder if the player has ****** out.  It's just weird that I can browse online content, meaning the player is connecting to the internet, but when it tries to stream a video it fails.

This is just my personal theory, so please take it with a grain of salt. Sony got hacked right after Christmas and that's when the trouble started.  At first it didn't make sense to me that this would be the cause because Amazon servers would be responsible for streaming my instant video, not Sony's.  But it's rumored that Sony BD devices are routing through Sony services on the way to requesting streaming video from Amazon.  If that is true (and I don't know if it is) then I wonder if Amazon put some additional security measures in place following the Sony hack.  In other words, Amazon says "ok Sony, you obviously have some security issues so we are going to put the kybosh on requests for video coming through you".  End result - Amazon Prime customers can't access streaming video through Sony's BD devices, but they can by just about any other means.  Also, Sony BD devices continue to stream other services like Netflix and Hulu, but just not Amazon Prime. Fast forward a couple of weeks - Sony develops a system udpate that allows their Amazon Prime app to comply with Amazon's new security requirements.  Sony BD device owners (like the poster above) perform the update and voila, they can stream Amazon Prime again. Again, that's just my theory.  I have not heard any of the above from Sony or Amazon.  But tonight I'm going to do the system update when I get home and see if it fixes my issues across the board.  As of this morning it was still very random.  One video willl play and the next won't.

  • Mac Pro won't stream from Netflix

Mac Pro 2 x 3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon, 9 Gb RAM, OS X 10.6.7. Used to be able to stream Netflix Instant Watch movies up to about a year ago, when I got an iPad and switched to watching Netflix stuff on that. But yesterday I tried it on the Mac Pro again and a message informed me "Our apologies -- instant watching is not supported on your operating system." I use Safari 5.0.5 and meet all the other Netflix requirements for streaming on a Mac.
On a separate internal hard drive of my Mac Pro, I have OS x 10.5.8 and Safari 5.0.5, and am still able to stream Netflix movies fine if I boot up in that. But I can't steam them when booted into 10.6.7 for some reason. Any ideas?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of this exercise is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
*Note: If FileVault is enabled under Mac OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, you can’t boot in safe mode.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem(s)?
After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • EA6300 Router's Wi-Fi won't stream media to any wireless device

I just purchased the router, and I set it up, and direct connect works fine, but media won't load on my wireless devices properly. Note, I'm referring to two different brands and types of devices (IPhone & Galaxy Tablet). Seeing that it wouldn't work on either, I ruled out the notion that it was my devices fault. My situation is odd, but it goes as followed. Once I boot on a device, it'll connect to Wi-Fi, and I'll open up Youtube, and I'll have time to stream one video, but after that, or even before I finish a video, the media just stops loading. The app loses all function. Youtube isn't the only victim. Facebook won't load videos or pictures, and my app store fails to function at all. The same thing happens with my IPhone. I talked to customer support via chat and phone, and they couldn't help. I'm hoping all you nice Tech-savy people will be nice enough to help me feel as if I wasted a lot of money on a router that, as of right now, I'm going to return. I'd appreciate any help possible.
I'm not sure if it helps, but I did own an outdated Linksys WRT120 router before this one, and it founctioned fine for 3 years, until the number of gadgets in our house increased.
    Thanks again!

    Hi RouterNoob1991,
Have you split the 2 wireless networks? If not, then change the name of the 5GHz network. You can also check the DownStream and UpStream bandwith of the Media Prioritization settings. If there is vaue, preloaded in there, change it to 0.

  • Help! My photos won't stream to the cloud and share with other devices. ( I've had the photo stream button on all the time I've had the phone.) The only way I can do it is by manually adding them to photo stream and this is very slow/ misses photos..

    Hello,
I'm very frustrated. I need to delete photos from my iphone to increase the storage so I can update the operating system. Since first using the phone I bought extra iCloud storage and ensured the photo streaming button for the iCloud was turned on.
Unfortunately it seems to have a mind of its own and will download and share some photos but the majority have not been downloaded.
I've resorted to manually putting them on photo stream (the one you share with friends) so the photos will be on my iPad. It also takes ages for my iphone to put them on the photo stream. It's downloaded one album x3 ..??!!? I've tried deleting the duplicated photos but it's now frozen on me....
I haven't dared delete the photos from my camera roll in case I loose them all and I'm therefore stuck in the situation of being unable to download the new operating system or take anymore photos/download music/apps. It *****!
    Please Help!
Are there any other options for me to be able to  download my photos when I don't have a computer/laptop? Is there a permanent online storage option I can use?
    Thanks
    Becky

Amazing steps you've done so far! The great news is this is very unlikely an issue with your iPhone.
I've run into a similar issue lately as well. I narrowed it down to one song that was causing 30 songs not to sync. I removed the song from the sync list (unchecked it) and all 29 songs were able to sync.
You may be running into a similar issue. This may be a problem with this version of iTunes, an issue with one song or a group of songs; hard to know for sure. It's important to narrow down and isolate the cause. Most imporantly get that music back on there!
The way to narrow down the casue add just a few songs at a time (even 1, just to get that first sync finished). Manually syncing is what you'll need here.
Plug in your iPhone, on the Summary screen (shows a picture of your iPhone, the iOS version, Restore iPhone....; etc). Under the Options area at the bottom choose to Manually Manage Videos and Music then choose Apply in the lower right. The music that's on your iPhone now should be removed from your iPhone now. You're now able to sync music manually.
The link below explains how to drag the songs from the iTunes library on the computer on to your iPhone which will start the sync. Add just one song just to see if you can get 1 of those hundreds of songs on there. If you can, awesome! Keep adding until you find the song or group of songs that are causing this issue.

Please let me know how things are going.

  • Macbook i7 to ATV - Airplay BOGGS and won't stream iTunes movies

I have a 2012 i7 Macbook 13 inch, and a 2012 (3rd Gen?) (it's brand new) 1080/WIFI/HDMI Apple TV. I have set up the ATV and updated all of the software. It is connected to my WIFI, which is fast and stable.  then:
-I started home sharing on my ATV/Itunes. My movies AND music show up on the ATV in the "Computer" section. I can select both movies and music, and all the media information comes up on the ATV.
-When I play music on ATV, the MUSIC loads and plays VERY SLOW and CHOPPY.
-When I play MOVIES on the ATV thru Itunes, they usually do NOT even load. The ATV tries to load the movies, but the spinning wheel (of death) is usually all I see. Sometimes, a movie will look like it is going to load, and play, but the it just sits on one frame of the movie. That is as far as it goes. The movie freezes but ironically neither the ATV or MACbook are freezing.
-AIRPLAY will mirror my desktop onto the TV, but that is as far as it will go also. The mouse will not even move on the TV. It basically just shows a frozen display of the screen
-I was using Moutain Lion when i first tried to get this to work, but i have since updated to Maverick, hoping that would fix things. It hasn't. NOTHING has changed. My iTunes is up to date. ATV software is up to date.
-It seems like this would be a problem with the network or the internet, except here is the strange thing:
-I can use my i7 HP PC to stream movies/music thru iTunes FLAWLESSLY. The movies and music inside of iTunes on the HP stream PERFECTLY thru the ATV.
This is really FRUSTRATING. I went out and got this new Macbook, and decided to use all MAC, since I love my iPhone and iPad.. and everyone always tells me how much better the OS on Macs are.. well, I'm not too impressed right now. I would expect ALOT more plug and play. I am very good with computers, albeit mainly PCs, but this should be alot easier to work. I really hope I am doing something really stupid, and someone knows a quick fix. I have searched the forums and don't see anything that was resolved from similar hardware situations. I don't get it.. Totally stuck... Could really use some help.. Trying to be a converted believer in the ways of MAC, so far, not going so good. It's been a serious headache.
Wondering why I even bought ATV right about now? I could have easily just plugged my HDMI cord into EITHER MAC/PC laptop, and accessed ALL the same things.. no remote I guess... but so far it's totally not worth the headache. PLEASE HELP

OK! I figured something out.. I got my MAC to start streaming movies and music finally!!!! It turns out that I need to shut off the WIFI on the PC that I am also homesharing thru iTunes on. I set both the PC and MACBOOK to homeshare their respective iTUNES, and they both simutaneously show up on the ATV. BUT... if I have them both running WIFI at the same time, while both signed into homeshare in iTunes, only the PC's streaming works correctly. (see above post for more detail of FAILURE) SO WEIRD. The MAC shows up stil on the ATV, but BOGGS down or fails to load files completely. As soon as I turn off WIFI on the PC, Mac streams perfectly thru the COMPUTER folder on the ATV..
    SO..
Can ANYONE please tell me how to use both PC and MAC on the ATV without shutting off one or the other? Or is that not possible? I guess it doesn't really matter, since I can only stream one thing at a time to the ATV . I like to keep both computer's WIFI running at the same time (downloading files in background), but I guess I can just shut off home sharing on the PC when I am using the MAC, and vice versa. Glad to know they both work thru the ATV. Haven't tried to use the mirrored display on the MAC yet.. gonna stick to watching movies thru the ATV's computer folder with my iTunes movie playlist for now. No need to frustrate myself anymore. Just gonna enjoy some technology for a minute.
I guess I have answered my own question.
Pretty surprised I didn't get even one response in 24 hours to my original post. This is my first time using any forum for TECH support.
I thought this post made sense, but maybe it's a bunch of jibberish. Or maybe people saw the word "PC" and didn't want anything to do with this post.
Truth is, the iTunes on my PC worked flawlessly with my ATV, right out the box, whereas the MAC was a little work to get going. Also, it (MACBOOK) loads content slower than the PC on the ATV. They are both i7 processors with 8 gigs of ram.  I still have yet to find something on this MAC that I can't do just as easily on a PC for a third the cost. I love the way the Apple stuff looks, and there are some cool things that MAC has gotten right (love the trackpad).. I love my iPhone, iPad, and now my ATV.. but my PC is still givin this MACBOOK a run for it's money. Just sayin.
Hopefully this post can help someone if they are in a similar position: in a household that uses both MAC/PC and shares one Apple TV.  Like I said, this seems to be working now. Fingers crossed. If anything changes I will be sure to talk about it.

  • I restored my HDD and now iTunes won't stream music from the cloud.

As title states, I replaced/restored the HDD in my Mac Mini and everything works perfectly except iTunes Match songs in the Cloud no longer stream in iTunes, they just skip to the next song. They all play fine when explicitly downloaded, but ihave many thousands of songs and it is supposed to work that way. I've tried many solutions and have also seen no one else with this problem. What am I missing here?
    Thanks,
