Won't Sync Purchased Music

My iPod won't sync music that has been legitimately purchased with an itunes music card. I lost about 50 songs - with my iTune player saying they weren't "authorized" to be played on my iPod. Can anyone share some advice?

Play one of the purchased songs in iTunes to authorize your computer.

  • New ipod won't sync purchased music from itunes library

I just purchased a new ipod and when I try to sync my library it will not transfer any purchased songs that are in my library.  All the songs are checked and I selected sync all music.

Do these purchased tracks play in iTunes?  What other options do you have enabled from under the Summary and Music tabs for your iPod?  Are you saying non-iTunes purchased tracks sync okay?

  • IPod won't sync purchased music...

I'm using the 5th generation ipod nano...which I haven't used in a while due to getting a touch screen.
Now that I'm trying to use it again... it won't sync anything I've bought on itunes, because of some 'error' ... I don't know how to fix it at this point considering I've reset it more than once.
    ...any ideas?

What is the exact wording of this error message?  Knowing this information can help us narrow down what type of troubleshooting and potential resolutions to offer.

  • IPod won't sync purchased music, games, or video?

Ok so i plugged my iPod in a few days ago to my computer to sync it. everything was going well until- "Some of the items in the iTunes library were not copied to the iPod because you are not authorized to play them on this computer." Now, i went into 'store', clicked authorize, it worked, i can play them on my computer now. so when i go to sync them to my iPod, it still won't do it. I have done everything itunes support has told me to. The 5 R's, deleting certain files, putting the files in another folder and then back again. everything. i have spent well over $300 on stuff from the itunes store and cant just write all of it off. please keep in mind, i CAN play the songs on my computer. my computer IS authorized. it's just not transferring them to my iPod. i have a 5.1 generation iPod video and all of my music is on an 80g external hard drive. Please help!!! thanks.

Play one of the purchased songs in iTunes to authorize your computer.

  • ITunes won't sync new music

I recently put some new albums on my iTunes, but my iPod won't sync the music! I also updated some things with other albums by the same artist(I added album artwork) and it showed those updates. Then I got another album and put that on there, and that album syncs! These three albums just WON'T sync to my iPod...why is that? I checked and they have the right information for the artist/album artist, album, genre, tracks, all that stuff. What would keep music from being synced?

Well that's weird they won't sync, then - if they play in itunes, your PC is authorized OK for those songs if they are purchased, and if they are not purchased, it's a file type itunes can recognize.
    Any errors?
Are you actually syncing the music to the iPod, or manually managing the music?
Where did you get them - download, ripped from CD using itunes?

  • I recently upgraded to iOS 7.0.3 and now my iPhone 4S will only sync purchased music to my phone from iTunes. Help! I have TONS of music that I have bought and burned to my computer, but cannot listen to it on my iPhone. This seems ridiculous!

Also, it's taking FOREVER (over an hour) to sync my iPhone to iTunes...

  • ITunes 10.6 not syncing purchased music to iPhone iOS 5.1

I upgraded iTunes to version 10.6 and my iPhone to iOS 5.1. iTunes will not sync purchased music from the iTunes store. In the past, I have been able to sync these purchases via iTunes. Now they appear greyed out on my iPhone 4S.
When I go into the App Store from my iPhone, I am able to download my purchases, but there are many and tapping on them one by one is not something I want to do EVERY time I update my iPhone to a newer OS. I would like to sync from my computer since those files are on my computer and I can play them in iTunes.

I have also tried adding my music into a different playlist and it will still not sync half of my songs.  I have also deleted the Purchased playlist and copied them back into it again... still nothing works
    This is quite silly!

  • I have synced my Iphone and everything is on there but when I activated my daughter's iphone it recognized it as mine and now it won't sync any music because it thinks it already did it.  How do I go in and change it to my daughter's name?

I have synced my IPhone4 and it has everything on it, including all of my music.  When I activated my daughter's IPhone4, the computer recognized it as mine and it won't sync the music because I guess it thinks it has already done it.  I think if I restore it to factory settings, it will mess up my phone.  How do I go back in to restart the whole process under my daughter's name?

As amy_lou said, iTunes will recognize both phones as different devices.  If they have the same name, rename one of them so it is easier to recognize which is which.  This explains how to do this: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3965.

  • HT202157 Apple TV is stuck on "Syncing purchased music"

After updating software, my Apple TV is stuck on "Syncing purchased music."  Have given it hours and restarted with no resolution.  All other features work fine.  Thoughts?

    OK, I'm with you now.
        1.    First you should try logging out of your iTunes Store account (settings > iTunes Store > accounts) and then back in again.
        2.    If that doesn't help, try resetting the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings). You should also try restarting your router.
        3.    If both of the above don't help, you should try a restore (Settings > General > Reset > Restore).

I've just bought a new laptop. It is only syncing purchased music. I have loads of music on my iphone, what can I do to get it synced and saved onto my new laptop?

If you did not backup your iTunes library on your old computer and transfer it to your new computer, see if this helps: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141

  • HT1689 how do i sync downloaded music from itunes to my ipad?  It will only sync purchased music.

How do I sync downloaded music from itunes to my ipad?  It will only sync purchased music.

You must "Add" the tracks to your library. Select Add to Library from iTunes' File menu. Select your downloaded track(s) then click on the Open button in the file dialog. Once added to the library you can select and sync them in the Music configuration tab in the iTunes main window for your device.

  • After having to get a new computer, I tunes repeatedly asks to authorize the computer to play/sync purchased music. However, ITunes is saying that the computer is already authorized. What do I do?

After having to get a new computer, I tunes repeatedly asks to authorize the computer to play/sync purchased music. However, ITunes is saying that the computer is already authorized. What do I do?

You can transfer all the iTunes purchased music from the iPod Touch to your new computer.
From iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer:
If your iPhone, iPad, or iPod has your purchased content from the iTunes Store, you can transfer the content to a computer that is authorized for your Apple ID.
Note: This option only works for content you purchased from the iTunes Store (as opposed to content from other sources, such as CDs you may have imported). For content you did not purchase from the iTunes Store, synchronization occurs in one direction only. This means your content can be copied from a computer to your iOS device, but cannot be copied from your device to a computer.
    Open iTunes.
From the Store menu, choose Authorize Computer.
In the dialog that appears, the Apple ID button is selected by default. If you have an AOL account, select AOL.
Enter your Apple ID or AOL account and password. Then, click the Authorize button.
Connect your device your computer. If it is synced with another iTunes library, the following may appear:
If this alert appears, click Transfer Purchases.
If you were not offered the option to transfer purchases:
After connecting your device to the computer, its icon appears in iTunes. Click the icon.
From the File menu, choose "Transfer Purchases from 'Your device name.'"

  • HT1296 Can i sync my ip4s on to a new pc and not lose music that was not purchased but imported from cd or will it only sync purchased music?

can i sync my iphone to a new pc without losing music that was not purchased but imported from cd? or will it only sync purchased music? thanks x

If you're trying to sync your iphone to a different computer than the one that you used to import your CD's, you can't (anymore).  Now that Apple is selling iTunes Match ($25/yr) you can only access non-iTunes-purchased songs if they are either:
    A) on the exact computer that you used to import them into iTunes
    or
    B) are already synced to your iphone
Now that iTunes Match exists, if you want to move non-iTunes-purchased music that you imported on one computer...to a different computer, you have to buy iTunes Match.  Awesome, huh?

  • Syncing purchased music from old iphone3 to new iphone4

I have tried to sync purchased music from my old iphone3 to my new iphone4 but I have 2 different computers registered. One computer has my purchased songs only & my other computer has the rest of my library but I cannot seem to sync all song to one computer without deleting the songs already on there. How do I sync without deleting existing songs?

As noted above, you can sync to 1 library only. What you need to do is decide which computer you will sync with and copy the songs you need to to that machine. Home Sharing makes it easy to view the contents of another library and even import the contents over the wire.
