Won't Update My Contacts Anymore

I have just updated my nano with the latest updater and now I can't update my contacts on it. I don't want to use the old updater as it doesn't give me the 'radio' function. Can anyone help with this?

  • My ipod mini won't update the songs anymore.

After updating the software per a prompt when I plugged in, my ipod won't transfer the songs over form itunes.
I have done a lot to try to fix this problem. What was happening is that when I connected the ipod (with the same USB that had always worked before) it suddenly decided not to add any of the new songs in my library.
    Useful info:
*I had it automatically update all songs
*The library wasn't bigger than the space on the Ipod
*The ipod would say that it was updating, and in itunes I could see it saying coping 1 of XX, 2 of XX etc. After a few minutes, it said all songs transfered and I went and sure enough, nothing on the ipod.
Things I did to try to fix the problem:
    *5 R's
    *Reinstall ipod software and itunes
    *change the drive name
*clear all songs out of library and update it so that no songs would exist and then try again (But all of the songs never cleared)
I would really appreciate anyone's help with this.
I have tried restoring, updating software, it's not the letter drive since the system recognizing it (it shows up in iturns) -- the real problem seems to be when I go to move songs over.
Now my entire ipod is empty and I can't get any songs to copy over.
    thanks, Michelle

First off, is everything updated? (Did you restore with the latest updater?)
    http://www.apple.com/ipod/download
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download
Also, with the iPod connected and showing in iTunes have you ever tried going to file-->update iPod?
Finally, with the iPod connected go to edit-->preferences and click the iPod tab. Be sure that automatically update is selected, otherwise iTunes may be waiting for you to do something.

  • Anybody knows why my iPod 160 GB suddenly won't sync my Contacts anymore?

It was working alright before I "upgraded" to Snow Leopard and iTunes 9... suddenly I cannot sync my contacts into my iPod (a VERY valuable feature!)... I have been to MacStores and they have no idea... any solutions out there?
    Thanks!

    Hi
I have a similar problem. Everything went fine, but after installing Snow and Itunes 9.1 My ipod classic 80 GB did not sync Contacts and Calendars anymore. There is also a problem with the battery suddenly.
After having fully charged and I open music after 2 minutes it completely goes blank telling me there is a very low battery status. I do not know if this is by accident or it also hve to do with all the hardware problems people encounter with the iTunes 9.0
Does anybody have the same problem with battery?
    thks

On both devices tap Settings > iCloud
Switch Contacts off then back on.
Give iCloud a few minutes to re sync the data.

  • How do I update my contacts on my MacBook pro from my iPhone or iMac?

my contacts on my MacBook pro are out of date. How do I update them from my iPhone or Imac?

    Hey there dgt11,
It seems like you may have missed that section of the article I provided, so I will go ahead and highlight it for you:
    OS X Lion or later
You can use these steps with Contacts on OS X Mountain Lion or later or Address Book on OS X Lion. After each step, check to see if the issue still exists.
Make sure iCloud Contacts is on
Choose Apple () > System Preferences, click iCloud, and select Contacts.
See which version of OS X you're using
Make sure that you're using OS X Lion v10.7.5 or later. Learn how to see which version of OS X you're using.
    Check your Internet connection
Try to go to www.apple.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud contacts won't update in Contacts or Address Book. Get help with your Internet connection.
Open a secure website to see if you can access ports 80 and 443. Safari requires access to port 443 to push and fetch updates to and from the iCloud Contacts servers.
    Check your account details
Choose Apple () > System Preferences, and click iCloud. Make sure that you're signed in to the same iCloud account that you're using on your other supported devices.
    Refresh Contacts or Address Book
If recent changes don't appear in Contacts or Address Book, try to refresh by quitting and reopening the app.
    Check your settings
Make sure that the contacts are syncing through iCloud and not through a third-party, such as Google or Yahoo. iCloud won't sync contacts that are associated with a different service.
Open Contacts (or Address Book on OS X Lion).
Click All [iCloud Account Name] in the left sidebar.
Search for the contact that wasn't syncing properly.
If the contact isn't visible, then the contact exists in a third-party account, not iCloud.
You can import the contact from a third-party account into iCloud.
If recent changes to contacts on OS X don't appear on your other devices and you're syncing contacts with multiple accounts on your device (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo), make sure that iCloud is your default account for Contacts:
Open Contacts (or Address Book on OS X Lion).
Choose Contacts > Preferences (or Address Book > Preferences on OS X Lion).
On the General tab, make sure that your iCloud account is the default.
After setting up iCloud Contacts, you might need to quit and reopen Contacts or Address Book on your Mac. Then make sure that you set up your account correctly in Contacts or Address Book:
Open Contacts (or Address Book on OS X Lion).
Choose Contacts > Preferences (or Address Book > Preferences on OS X Lion).
    Click Accounts.
Make sure that your iCloud account has the correct name in the Apple ID field.
Turn iCloud Contacts off and back on
Quit Contacts (or Address Book on OS X Lion).
Choose Apple () > System Preferences and click iCloud.
    Deselect Contacts.
    Click Keep Contacts.
Close System Preferences and wait about a minute.
Open System Preferences and choose iCloud.
    Select Contacts.
    Open Contacts (or Address Book).
    Restart your computer
Restart your computer and check the issue.

  • Up-to-date contacts on iPhone and MobileMe won't won't update the Mac

    Hi,
I just got an iPhone GS and there's a glitch that's driving me mad. (I had an iPod Touch before this so it's not all new.)
First of all I had duplicate Calendars and Contacts ("On my Mac" and MobileMe) so deleted those on my mac by following the instructions here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1922950 which just left MobileMe.
After a bit of fiddling and resetting the Calendars now work so that when I update the iPhone it appears on the Mac, and vice versa.
However, this is not the case with Contacts, and since repeating the process (resetting the Mac, deleting on iPhone and starting again) now if I make changes to contacts on the iPhone they do update MobileMe, but MobileMe does not update the Mac. When I update MobileMe on the website it won't update the Mac either.
I've done everything I can think of/have read about and would really love to get this working as it should.
    Many thanks,
    D

    Yet more information:
I went ahead and clicked "Replace" and then got the following error message:
"You are attempting to reset Contacts on MobileMe from this computer.
Contacts have recently been reset on Mobileme. Are you sure you want to reset the Contacts on MobileMe?"
But nothing changed (didn't even lose the up-to-date contact changes on the iPhone) but then I get the error messages again and again and again...
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    D

Beginning with Firefox 4, Macs must have an Intel x86 processor (which you do NOT have; yours is a PPC Mac) '''''<u>and</u>''''' OSX 10.5 or higher.

'''''The good news''''' is that Firefox 3.6.24 still supports OSX 10.4 and Macs with the PPC Mac architecture. '''''The bad news''''' is that support for the Firefox 3.6.x series is likely to end in the first quarter of 2012.

You can try the third-party product '''''TenFourFox''''' that supports PPC Macs. Firefox 8 version of '''''TenFourFox''''' is available. The product is based on Firefox released versions. All support is provided by the developer, not by this site:

After loading Mavericks(terrible name, btw), why can't I see a way to sync/update my contacts on itunes anymore?  hm????
And I can't seem to be able to sync contacts at all.  Not at all.... Really... Not happening...
Contacts has always been a sketchy, inferior application, now with the NEW Mavericks, it's not even working.   sigh.

It's named after a favorite surfing beach in California. Many companies are now using names of places because then they know the name doesn't violate a trademark in any of hundreds of countries. Thinking up product names is very difficult, legally speaking. Place names are convenient.

Macbook won't update anything, from the mac applications to firefox .
    Can someone help me ?

Make sure there's enough free space on the startup disk.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you have a minimum of 15% free disk space.
The startup disk may need repairing.

  • Need to correct and update my contacts' phone numbers

I need to correct and update (or delete) my contacts' telephone number, but there seems to be no place to edit phone numbers or delete them, once they are in the list.
Everything else seems fine, but I cannot delete old/wrong phone numbers.
The Help docs make no mention of editing contacts, strangely.
I am running Skype v5.8.0 on Mac OSX MountainLion.

The matter of contacts is a complicated one. Skype has a number of different contact types (Lync, Facebook, Skype, MSN/MSA, SkypeOut, AddressBook), and unfortunately some of them behave differently.
The thing to know is this: you are not allowed to delete a contact's identity. This is the string or number that Skype uses to uniquely identify a contact. It makes some intuitive sense: you probably wouldn't expect to be able to view your friend's Skype profile and edit their Skype name. At the very least, if this were a limitation, you'd probably understand why that was so.
Phone numbers in Skype work the same way. You can add and delete numbers to your heart's content AS LONG AS: (1) those numbers are not the identity number; (2) the contact type allows it (e.g. not Facebook, Lync, AB); and (3) they were added by you in Skype (not the Address Book).
The situation that seems to be tripping people up in this thread is when you create a contact which has a phone number as its identity. These numbers are called SkypeOut contacts, because they will use the SkypeOut service to call over the PSTN network instead of VOIP. They can be created in the Add Contact page, or by using the little plus button in the History or Conversation views after you’ve already made a call to the number.
Since Skype uses a phone number to refer to these SkypeOut contacts, and to save and recall history about them, you cannot remove that number. Skype wouldn’t know what to call this contact anymore without its identity. This is the behavior that tmcdanel was describing. You can change the number, but deleting it would lead to the contact itself (and all its other numbers and information) being deleted. And that may not what you were after.
So, where does that leave us?
If you have a SkypeOut contact which you want to change the number for, you can Edit the identity and change it. (It wasn’t always so: this feature was released about a year ago.)
If you’ve added other numbers in the meantime and would like one of those to become the identity, you can rotate one of them in by copying the number, deleting it from further down the list and then pasting it into the identity field (the first one in the list on the contact info page).
If you are never going to call this person again, and don’t have a new number for them, then you can delete the contact entirely. Do this by selecting the contact in the Contact List and pressing Delete. This won’t delete the history of calls and SMSes that you’ve made to that number, it will just remove the contact from your contact list. And if you ever you get a new number for them, you can add a new contact with the new number.
What I do personally is try to use SkypeOut contacts sparingly. I always add a number to the person’s Skype contact if I can.
I definitely recognize that this could be much simpler. Unfortunately, I can't provide a timeline for a more unified contact experience. But I thought people would want to know why it works the way it does at present. Hopefully this will give you a clear idea of how to use SkypeOut contacts as they exist today.

  • Certain apps won't update or download on any device.

I've searched for two weeks to no avail. I've seen similar problems posted but nothing quite like this. I have an iPhone 5s iOS 8.2, a 4th Gen iPad iOS 8.2 and Mac Mini Late 2014 OS X Yosemite 10.10.2. It all started with wanted to download the Pages app. My iPad is old enough it wouldn't let me download it for free so I initiated the download on my iPhone and then promptly cancelled. I then tried to download Pages from "the cloud" onto my iPad. It downloaded 3/4 of the way and failed stated that the app could not be downloaded at this time with two options to continue: done and retry. And now there are a handful of apps that will fail somewhere in the download and some apps that are already installed on the devices that won't update. Any app that has previously failed WILL download over cellular network on the iPhone 5s. I've tried four separate location with WIFI access and these same apps will not download. I've cleared network statistics, restored the iPhone to factory defaults, changed Apple ID password, tried a different Apple ID, and trying to download apps on Mac Mini to sync to iPhone/iPad over tethered connection. The only partial fix I have discovered is to start download over cellular network and switch to WIFI download. Please... any ideas. I feel I may have left out some steps I might have taken so please feel free to ask any questions.

I had this problem and solved it by going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings.
Note: This will not delete any apps, songs, videos, or podcasts from your phone. It will only reset your wallpapers, brightness, bluetooth, contact sorting, network preferences (still remembers networks though), etc.  It's a bit annoying to go update all these back to how yo like, but much less annoying than a full restore.
DO NOT press Erase All Content and Settings. This will delete everything and you'll have to restore from iTunes.

  • Nano won't update or restore

I just got a Nano, installed the original iTunes & iPod software off the CD, and was able to import and transfer music onto the nano. Yay. I learned that iTunes had an update, so I downloaded & installed that without incident. Yay. I then learned that there was an update to the iPod software - I downloaded that, and during the install, things became hosed. "Do not disconnect" displayed forever. I did a reset of the nano, disconnected it, and saw that the nano was now empty. I have attempted the "5 R's" over & over, with no success. I cannot do an update to the iPod, nor a Restore, because neither iTunes nor iPod Updater recognize the iPod as being plugged in. Also, when I plug in the iPod, iTunes no longer automatically loads. Nothing works right anymore. I've looked through so many help files, nothing has helped so far. Any ideas?? Pls help!

wow man i have exactly the same problem than you , and i have tried all under the sun, im from venezuela but a friend of mine broght me from us an ipod nano of 4 gb, everything was correct until i decided to update my ipod , but during the install the message do not disconnect displayed forever, then, obviously i disconnected my nano after one hour ago or maybe more, but my surprise was that i didnt have neither music nor photos inside mi ipod, i cannot do an update, nor s restore because neither itunes nor ipod updater recognize the ipod as being plugged in. I don´t know what to do, but take this advice my friend, never update your ipod anymore, cause that problem can repeat over and over again, and the apple people know it, hey biff try to give back your ipod for warranty service cuz they will know exactly what to do with your ipod, bye man we are in contact, good luck
