Wondering if BT can supply me? Been turned away by...

Hello, 
I am not a BT customer, However I am looking for some help. In the hope Bt can win where my current supplier has failed.
After 5 months of trying to sort out my slow, intermittent broadband speed. I have been told there s nothing wrong with my line, nothing wrong with my exchange or router and there is nothing my current supplier can do to help.
If fact they told me to either wait for a fiber optic supply or change provider. My worry is if I change my provider, how do I know I wont have the same issue?
After two seperate enginners coming one from supplier contract and one from Openreach, What I can tell you is this:
I have a good 8 coming into the house no problem, I should be getting a regular 6 or 7. 
I get readings between 0.26 to 7.20 totally at random, regardless of time, weather,  use of tech in the house. After 5 months of monitoring there is no patter I can find. Most of the time my speed is below 4.30 It is this speed and below that stops me from watching films, downloading music or you tube, ect.
I am told I MAY have a overloaded capacity at the exchange. (Im not sure why they can fix that?)
I have been advised that if I go to a supplier on the '21 century network'? I may beable to get a consistant good speed.
None of this really I understand.
Can anyone here help me to know if anything above makes sence to you and if Bt are on the '21 century network' and if indeed it would make any difference to me?

    It happened on the way to the airport. I went for my pocket when we were checking in and it wasn't there. I'd turned it off to save battery for the flight and when we got home I checked the house and it wasn't there. I think it may have fallen out in the taxi but we called them and the driver driver said he couldn't find anything. It hasn't been turned on since I last turned it on. But I was wondering can Apple remotely turn my phone on in any way possible?

    There is no way of communicating with a phone which is switched off, therefore there is no way to tell it to turn itself on.

  • Trying to restore photos from external drive and realized TimeMachine had been turned off.  Found in Imac backup folder in iPhoto library a modified folder with many of the missing pics.  Can I restore these?

    I recently had a hard drive crash on my iMac.  After replacing the drive, I discovered that TimeMachine had apparently been turned off for six months, and all my photos from that period were missing after the restore.  In looking on the external drive used by TimeMachine, I discovered a folder called Imac backup, and under iPhoto Library was a folder called Originals and subfolders for each year.  To my surprise, there were photos covering the missing time period!  Somehow I imported the 2011 folder from the external drive into iPhoto, and then I discovered they were small files of less than 100 KB each, not the 1-2 MB original photos.  So now all of 2011 is screwed up, not just from May on.  These photos also include faces pulled from many larger group photos.
    I can get Jan - April restored using TimeMachine.  But in continuing to explore the Imac backup folder, I found a similar folder in iPhoto Library called Modified.  This folder has many of the missing photos in their original MB size in folders indexed by date for the missing period after April.  Is there a way that I can get these modified photos back onto my new hard drive and into the iPhoto library without causing more damage?  If TimeMachine was turned off after April, how did those modified photos and all those small images from the missing period find their way to the external drive?
    Any wisdom greatly appreciated.

    What you want to do is merge the two Libraries? The only way to do this is to use the paid ($20) version of iPhoto Library Manager
    I created a new iPhoto Library on the iMac and dragged the entire iPhoto Library from the MacBook into that new Library. It worked, however it all came over into one big album and my previous album structure was gone
    Never import one Library to another. Every version and thumbnail is imported like a distinct photo, you lose all your Albums, Keywords etc., the link between Original and Previews is destroyed, the non-destructive editing feature is ruined and so on. In summary: it's mess.

    Wifi:  my Cell phone will remember 10 wifi connections.  So delete any you don't use often and your home wifi and try to enter home wifi again.
    if it still won't connect to home wifi, call your internet provider for help.  You may need a newer router or different settings Or upgraded service.   Your phone seeks the best connection and will refuse lesser connections.
    last resort.  Backup the phone.  Do a full reset, then restore as new with the backup.
    if still not fixed, go back to apple and insist on repair or replacement.
    HOWEVER.   voicemail is not a wifi issue, it's a carrier function, which is why the SIM card is a suspect.

  • How can I access data on an external drive in my mac after all folders have been turned into .lnk files? I am desperate!

    I don't know what happened, I connected my external hd today and all files had been turned into that!

    I know I am going to sound really stupid when I ask this, but how do I do that? There was this folder called Recycle Bin, which I have deleted already but the files are still in the same format. I know they are in the HD 'cause of the space taken up in it, but I would like to know exactly what to do to clear the malware altogether and have access to the stuff I have again.

    I'm weary of having to confirm every time I bounce spam. Is there a terminal command or perhaps a file edit I can do that will turn off the confirmation dialogue?

    Bouncing spam, as an attempt to frustrate the spammer is ineffective as the spammer would have a fake email address anyway.
    I've often wondered if this is the case. But my bounces never bounce back, so I've figured they're going to a valid address, somewhere.
    (Also consider that if the spam does actually get back to the spammer's server, all you have done is confirm your email address is valid, which would invite more spam.
    I thot the idea of Bounce was to make it appear my email address is invalid.
    It would be easier to let Mail send it to the junk mail folder and automatically delete it.
    That's what I do. But I bounce everything in the Junk folder.
    Anyway, if you are getting heaps of spam, you strategy isn't working.
    Whilst its too late now, it is beneficial to have at least two email addresses.
    Yup, I have two also, and I don't get heaps on the private one, but I do get some. Evidently, I haven't been as prudent with it as I should. Anyway, I've hoped that bouncing might eventually eliminate the spam that comes there.

    What model iPod? From that message it appears that you did not have a screen-lock passcode or somebody else knows it. Also they may know your Apple ID and password.

    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the erase (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 or later on the device. With iOS 7 or later, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.

    Go to the Music section of your Library (very top-left corner) and see if your songs are there. The "Purchased" playlist may have been deleted or gotten corrupted, but if that happens it's not a big deal because your music should still be in your main Music Library.
    If your music is NOT in the Music section of your Library, then go to the iTunes Store homepage and find the Quick Links list on the right side. At the top of that list, click Purchased and you can redownload all of your previous content that you might have lost.

    I think the problem is that the iPod got set to Manually manage music and videos.  It needs to be set up for automatic syncing again.  Just unchecking that Manually manage music and videos setting does not do it.
    In iTunes 12, select the iPod in iTunes (using the device button), so that you see the iPod's "management" screen.  In the sidebar (along left side of screen), there are two headings (Settings and On My Device).  Under Settings, click on Music.  To the right, you see the iPod's Music screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
    Check the box at the top for Sync Music.  That turns ON automatic syncing for music.  Below that, choose the option to sync Entire music library (assuming your music library fits completely on your iPod).  Otherwise, you can choose the option to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres and make your selections below.  Then click Apply.
