Wont boot after Deleting Mac OS 9 files from Mac Pro

I noticed some Mac OS 9 files on my main HD. Incorrectly, I guess, I figured I could just delete them. Well.... It allowed me to trash some, and not others. When I tried to move those out of trash back to their folders, it wouldn't let me. SO, I rebooted only to find out my Mac Pro wont boot up now!. All I get is a grey screen with Apple symbol and the indicator going round and round and round.
Rebooted holding option and selecting a Tech Tool sectioned of drive. When to my back up and copy the Mac OS 9 files from it back to the main HD. Didn't work. Then tried to use Time Machine.. still no go.
I'm thing I need to reinstall my MAc OSX 10.6.8 that I have as an dmg file on another drive.
Any suggestions?

learn to clone your system gave bootabke backups.then never alter, upgrades included, without one or more.
install macis x somewhere else, then use setup assist. and/or migration assistant.

hi guys,
Ive just tried to upgrade from os 10.4.9 to os 10.4.11 It seemed to be installing the update and said something like 'processing' when i lost power to the mac. Since then, when i restart, i get the chime, then the grey apple screen with a silver apple in the middle, it then goes to a blue screen, and then brings up a grey box which has the apple at the top, says 'mac os x' underneath and then a progress bar under that. The progress bar doesnt have any movment, and it just hangs on that page, and doesnt load anything.
Ive tried to boot off a cd (restart, hold down c) but it just does the same as above. I also tried booting in safe mode (forced restart and then holding down shift after the chime) but again nothing it does the same as above. I also tried single user mode, but again it doesnt do anything, just exactly the same as above. My keybord is definatly plugged in and working, the mouse still moves round the screen, which is plugged into it.
Any ideas? this is a major issue, and desperatly need to get it working asap, as its in a working studio.

ok ive managed to some how managed to re-install an old version- 10.4.3 I have no idea why it decided to boot off this disk, but it did and im grateful! I ran the disk utility on the disk and it fixedsome disk errors, i restarted, but it was still doing the same thing. So i reinstalled the OS from this disk as i mentioned , back to 10.4.3.
My new problem is though that none of my pro apps are working! I updated the os to 10.4.11 using the software update, and then added any secutity patches etc.. however it wouldnt load Final Cut pro or pro tools. I read somewhere that you shouldnt use the software update, but download the combo patch from apple and update this way. So i downloaded it and ran it, to reinstall os 10.4.11 again. It still doesnt work though. Finalcut is the latest version 6.0.2. Pro tools is version 7.3.1. I know protools says it has problems loading on 10.4.11 but that the prebind script should fix this. It didnt. Any ideas guys? I desperatly need FCP to work today if poss.

So it allowed me to click cancel now it says "stopping" for 3hrs now. Is there anyway to force the MacBook Air (new model) to close as you can't remove the battery?

Press and hold the power button until the Mac turns itself off. This force-shutdown should be done only after you've exhausted other options (you seem to have done so).
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Then press the power button to start up the Mac. It will take a little longer to start up because it will perform additional self-tests on the first boot after a forced shutdown.
Once the bootup is complete, you should be able to delete the trash. Hold down the option key while choosing to empty the trash, which will automatically delete "locked" items.

Upgrade boot drive in MAC PRO Early 2008 to SSD

Looking to upgrade my boot drive on Mac Pro Early 2008.
Possibly with SSD, but wasnt sure of compatibility. Also, is it a huge sacrafice in storage?

Establish a Boot Drive on the fast SSD, and move all User files off to other drives. These articles may help:

be sure to heed Pondini's warning:
If you do put home folders on a separate volume, it's strongly recommended that an Admin account and its home folder remain on the Startup volume. If there isn't one, and you have a problem with the separate home folder volume, you cannot log on to your Mac! And in some cases it will greatly complicatetransferring to a new Mac.
So if you're transferring from an available Mac that doesn't have an Admin account on its Startup volume, create one via System Preferences > Accounts before starting.

I would like to know this too. I imported a lot of files, then Imovie crashed. I went back in and they are not in imovie at all.
I reconnected the camcorder to import again and though they are still on the camcorder, I no longer see them in the available list of files to import. I'm sure there is some sort of simple setting somewhere that reveals all files even if it thinks they are imported.

I have synced my iPhone 4S with iTunes and I got an error while copying one movie. Now this movie shows up grayed out in videos on the iPhone but NOT in iTunes. Hence, I cannot delete this partially copied movie from my iPhone. And since it is grayed out, the right-to-left swipe does not work. I have resynced with "no movies" option so that every movie would be deleted and indeed every movie was deleted except for the problematic one. I rebooted the iPhone several times in case it was a glitch. No success. I even tried tools like iExplorer and DiskAid but I cannot find this **** file. Is there any way to delete this partially copied file from the iPhone without having to restore it?

You can only watch the movie on the device you rented it on. Here's a snippet from the Apple Support site (italics mine):
If you download a rented movie on your computer: You can transfer it to a device such as your Apple TV (1st generation), iPhone, iPad, or iPod if it’s a standard-definition film (movies in HD can only be watched on your computer, iPad, iPhone 4 or later, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV). Once you move the movie from your computer to a device, the movie will disappear from your computer's iTunes library. You can move the movie between devices as many times as you wish during the rental period, but the movie can only exist on one device at a time.
If you download a rented movie on your iPhone 4 or later, iPad, iPod touch (4th generation or later), or Apple TV: It is not transferable to any other device or computer.

I have backed up my disk using Time Machine. Now I want to delete the backed-up files from my hard drive. But when I do and reconnect the external hard drive, the files are also deleted on that. What do I do?

Time Machine is not a good way to do that, when it eventually needs more room it deletes old Backups to make room.
If you really want to keep Files but remove them from the Internal Drive, then I'd get another external drive to copy or clone them to that is not used for TM.

You can Upload the following trace file while opening the ticket
SQL>Alter session set tracefile_identifier='corrupt';
SQL>Alter system dump undo header "<new of undo segment in recover status>";
Go to udump
ls -lrt *corrupt*
Upload this trace file

No need to empty anything.
You can update by connecting your phone to iTunes on your computer. This way you bypass the space limitations.
