Try this. Download a repair disc from here.
Windows Vista Recovery Environment ISO X64 version (64 bit)
If you can reach the Recovery Environment by booting that, try the Startup Repair and let us know what happens. Sometimes you need to run it more than once.

Also try a System Restore.

  • NB550D - Wont boot after Windows Update

Netbook may have powered off during Windows Update as now it will not get past the green loading bar with "Microsoft Corporation" underneath. It gives an option to start windows normally or to load repair files but both end up stuck on the green loading bar. Safe mode (all options) gets as far as classpnp.sys then freezes.
Using a different laptop I made a Window Repair Disk and then copied the files over the a USB (netbook has no CD Drive) as per the online guides. When the USB is booted the repair files load, there is a blinking cursor then it's back into the green loading bar. Safe mode (all options) gets stuck on disk.sys with the USB inserted.
Found some threads with similar symptoms with most being caused by a dodgy HD connection (checked, nothing obviously disconnected) or the wrong SATA mode selected in the BIOS (seems to make no difference between ACHI or Compatible). Next plan is to boot a live linux version and try to replace the classpnp.sys file with on from another copy of Windows 7.
If anyone has experienced this before or can give any pointers they'd be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks.

    Hi
To be honest never had any problems after a windows update.
But it looks like a system fault.
My first idea was the usage of the repair option and trying to start the OS using the option: use the last good known configuration.
But if this would not help, then you can try to replace the files using and booting from the Live CD. Not quite sure if this would solve the problem but I think its definitely worth a try otherwise you would need to reinstall the OS using the HDD recovery (if still available )

  • Dell Latitude E6520 fails to boot after Windows Updates

    Hello,
I have a Dell Latitude E6520 that is not starting up after Windows updates. It installs updates and requests a reboot, after which it blue screens at the splash logo and reboots again. This goes on indefinitely. The only way to repair it is to boot from
    a recovery disk and run:
    dism /image:D:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions
This is after running dism /image:D:\ /get-packages and noticing that several updates are still in an "Install_Pending" state. These are the kb's that are pending:
    kb2982378
    kb2978742
    kb2977629
    kb2976897
    kb2973112
    kb2972211
There were other updates, but those showed as installed. I would post the WindowsUpdate.Log, but I do not see a button to attach a file and the log is very long. Here is what I think is relevant towards the end of the log:

  • HP 8740w WH279UA wont boot after Windows 7 Updates

    Hi!
Thank you all for reading my case. I'm the happy owner of a HP 8740w, I have 20GB of RAM and 500GB hard drive. My litle monster has been working perfectly for the last year and a half.
My problem began last night while I was doing a fresh Windows 7 Pro Installation, I did this after installing Windows 8.1 on the laptop and I was not happy with the overall system performace. these are the steps I run before the computer stopped working:
    1. Boot from Windows 7 Pro DVD
    2. Delete/Create/Format hard drive
    3. Computer Boot Ok
    4. Installed Wifi Driver Ok
    5. Downloaded all System Drivers from HP website
    6. Installed all System Drivers
    7. Reboot computer it showed 107 windows Updates to be applied
    8. Computer Rebooted 2 times while configuring updates
    9. Computer Failed to Boot
Now every time I boot the computer the Caps Lock and Num Lock leds Blinks 3 times, according to HP Web Site the 3 times blinking leds indicates Memory Chip failure,  these are the steps i tried to troubleshoot the memory error:
    1. Boot the computer with the combination of the 4 memory so-dimms, failed
    2. Boot the computer without memory, failed
    3. Boot the computer without memory, and without hard drive, failed
    4. Boot the computer without memory, hard drive, and motherboard battery, failed.
I reallt don't understand how can this had happend to my laptop. Warranty ranned out on 2013 so i'm not elegible to request a replacement. any ideas?

  • HP Pavilion 15-n268sa will not boot after windows update (windows 8.1)

After a series of windows update (windows 8.1) my HP Pavilion 15-n268sa will not boot up, no fan noises, no lights no nothing.
I have tried a "hard reset" a number of times with no success.
When the battery is present the white LED flashes 3 times when the power button is pressed.
    Please please help.

    Hello Cuffy,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you notebook will not boot after a series of Windows updates.
Can you tell me if you are able to access the HP Recovery Manager by repeatedly tapping the F11 key while the notebook turns on? If you can access this, try doing a system restore to before you installed the updates. If not I would suggest you go through this document: Computer Does Not Start and the LEDs Blink or the Computer Beeps.
If it's the Caps Lock light that is blinking this document will tell you exactly what the error is (spoiler: 3 beeps is a memory failure). This could also explain the failed updates. The updates are stored in the RAM before being applied to the operating system.
You can try reseating the RAM, or using only 1 of the RAM cards, as you have 2x4GB cards. If it still doesn't work with 1 card, try the other card to confirm it has failed.
You can replace defective cards via HP Phone Support if covered under warranty or at the HP Part Store if not covered. You can contact HP Technical Support at 1-800-474-6836 in North America. For all other regions click here.
    Hopefully this information helps!
Please click the "Kudos, Thumbs Up" at the bottom of this post if you want to say "Thanks" for helping!

  • 128GB SSD won't boot after Windows Update

Hi. I performed a Windows Update on my PC a few days ago. All seemed to go well, but when I turned on my PC the next morning, it would not boot. I got an error telling me that the devide was inaccessible. I've tried using Windows Startup Repair, Chkdsk, TestDisk, nothing seems to work on the drive. Apparently the second NTFS boot sector is unwriteable?? This seems to be the root of the problem. Is there any way to fix this, preferably without reformatting?
I've reinstalled Windows on my old HDD partition and can actually still access the data on the SSD. I just can't boot up Windows from the SSD.
If the only solution is to reformat the SSD, how would I know that the drive itself is not defective? Was this problem caused by the Windows Update or do I have a bad drive? After I re-tune my Windows settings and reinstall my programs, I'm planning on cloning it to the SSD, but I don't want to go through all the trouble if the SSD is just going to fail on me again.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
    (I'm running Windows 7 Professional x64.)

attach the ssd to a working computer and run a bench program on it to see if it working properly.  If the read/writes are close to what is advertised, it is working.
Also, I'd suggest doing a full wipe of the drive before attempting to use it as your primary drive.

  • K9N Diamond - Wont boot after BIOS update

Just attempted to update the BIOS on my PC and it now wont boot.  Used LiveUpdate with the Windows flash option (don't have FD drive).  The lights on the D-Bracket 2  get as far as LED 2 Green, 1,3,4 Red.  I have already tried to Clear CMOS with no joy.
Any suggestions on how to proceed much appreciated  - and yes, I already know, I've probably done something stupid
    Thanks
    Grant.

power down PC, remove power cord from the PSU, push several times power button to drain capacitors, then Clear CMOS and leave only one memory stick into DIMM slot close to CPU socket. pull back power cord and try to boot.
in a future do not update the BIOS for no reason....(only becouse its new, only becouse new BIOS maybe got a new logo and e.g...)
Looks like I'm back in business now.  I found similar instructions at this location  http://www.bosamar.com/K9N/trouble.html and followed the First Procedure.
Booted ok with one mem stick, in bios fail safe mode.  I counted 7 short beeps while booting then one long beep.  Not sure if this is ok.  Read about bios beeps here https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=82221.0 and the final long beep seems to indicate a pass???.  Anyway, Vista appeared to come up ok and I checked everything in the hardware device manager and all looked fine.
Proceed to reboot with all mem sticks back in place, again same beeps but Vista coming up ok.
Next I switched bios to optimized defaults, but now 6 short beeps - no long beep.  Windows looks ok.  6 beeps appear to indicate a keyboard problem, but kbd seems to work fine???
System looks ok now, but not sure if i should look into those beeps a bit more?  BIOS now at 1.3, should I leave as is or revert to an earlier revision?
One thing I know that I am going to do is to install the FD drive from my old PC
    Thanks for all the help.
BTW, the reason I did the BIOS flash was as a last resort to get my sound to work.  Tried the various creative driver as suggest elsewhere on this forum but without success (as of yet there is no official vista compatible audio driver for my mb from MSI).  The JAUD1 connector looks to be connected as specified in manual (but no audio from either the front nor real panel audio connectors).

  • Unable to boot after windows update

    Hello,
As is was trying to update windows today I didn't expect to lock up my computer, but right now i'm facing the blue screen of death at every startup. The startup repair is not helping.. So right now the only option i see is to reformat my C drive??
This was really unexpected, as I was installing a few of the optional windows updates (mostly drivers i think for the fingerprint reader, graphic card... ) when my pc crashed. I hope to recover some of the files on my desktop before reformating.
So i'm not really expecting too much help here because i can basically do nothing as even the startup repair is not working. But i'm wondering, are there any windows updates that should be avoided? I wish i knew what screwed up my pc. I'm runnign the w520 on windows 7btw.
    Thanks!!

I downloaded an update for the bios for my pavilion g6t-1d00 laptop running windows 7 64 bit. It started acting kind of funny but I didnt think anything of it til I tried to boot it up the next day and all I got was a black screen and a orange led light on the f12 button for the internet and the caps lock button after blinking afew times started the dredded two times every couple of seconds. I tried the windows key+B key power key, no luck. I cant access anything because I have no monitor and I'm at my wits end. I refuse to wipe my hard drive and start over even if I could! I cant access hp tools or manager or anything, please someone has to have a solution!

    @Fuschia4me,
    1.       You will have to use another computer
    2.       Access the HP.com site with the BIOS updates available here is the link
    3.       You want to select the F.36 BIOS version
    4.       When you click on the update then click download and it will ask you to save or run, you want to save to a flash drive
    5.        Once done insert the flash drive into your laptop
    6.       Turn the computer on and press the windows and B key like before
If the process doesn’t work the first time I would try at least 2 more times.
Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

  • Pavilion m9500y wont boot after bios update

    Hello Everyone,
I have a m9500y desktop that I recently did a bios update on. The update seemed to go through just fine but then when it rebooted it ended up beeping a few times and showed only a black screen. I removed the power cord and cmos battery and tried to power on after putting them back. It came back to the boot screen and hitting f10, it says "Entering Setup" and a flashing cursor, but doesn't get passed that. Is there a way to get into some recovery mode and reflash the bios again?
Thank you in advance for any help.

    Hi,
There is one HP BIOS update available for your PC when using Win Vista 64 bit.
Is this the update that has failed? Did you attempt this BIOS update running a different version of Windows?
It may be possible to mod the BIOS update per above and flash again. Another option is to have HP reflash your PC's BIOS. The cost to have HP fix may not be worth it given your PC's introduction date in 2008.
This site may provide some help. Check out BIOS Recovery. Current HP PC's use AMI BIOS. Your PC may have an Award BIOS.
Or you could contact a local PC tech for assistance. The tech may be able to reflash the BIOS at a lower cost.
There is no easy fix for this problem.

yeah thats all, after reboot no sign of life.
As this is a server i cant do any analizes. As there is no news entry on the web-page i did not expected any fundamental change which causes the server no longer to start but it seems like a switch to Gentoo is really needed after this problem is solved.
Anyay, until then, i hope you can help me with that

Same here, try to downgrade linux-lts
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=148223
and here, just like your case.
    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=148046
    But no solution for now.

  • Z50-75, wont boot after bios update

    Hi to all!
I just baught Z50-75 with AMD FX7500, 8GB Ram and FreeDOS. I installed Windows 8.1 Pro, and they pulled some drivers during the installation, and I went to Lenovo sight and downloaded all the rest (graphics, camera, etc.), after each installation the computer restarted normally and all was O.K. The last drivers that I saw on the site were BIOS drivers, and I downloaded those to and it started the installation after which it said:"The system will now restart for changes to make effect", and it did, but, it would not boot up after that, all it did was show me this on the screen:
And I tried both of the options (the second one with the Windows CD inside), but it just stays where it is, no effect.
I can enter the bios and change the settings, but none of them seem to work because this is the maximum where it will go, the only difference is when I change from AHCI to Compatible mode, it restarts and than I have a blank screen, I have to use the One button Recovery to get back to this one from the picture above...
I would appriciate any kond of help, please give me some advice.
    Solved!
