Wont connect to my network- mysterious message

Hi
When i try to connect to my airport network, it gives me this message:
There was an error joining the AirPort network "Maz"
There's no additonal information provided, so i'm at a loss what to do. The green light on the modem glows strong.
Any ideas? Thanks

Maybe your iPhone does not work with that carrier. Or it may be a deffective device. If you having trouble with Wifi it may be the antenna.

My iPad wont connect to my network! It's done this before and I don't know why! Is there an easy way of restoring it without having to go back to factory settings?

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

  • New Macbook Pro. wont connect to wireless network once it has had a update

    hi
bought a new macbook pro last week, when you first start it up it connects fine to a wireless network, but once the software update is compltete it says that there is an error trying to jion network. there is already a powerbook g4 connected to the network and a pc. i have re installed tiger and it can connect fine until the software update has restarted the mac and the same error is back again. do i re install it again and never update it or is there a simple way to correct the fault

My girlfriends New Macbook Pro is doing the same thing. I does connect to non-secure wireless connections such as at the airport but doesn't connect to her home wireless connection that is run by an SBC DSL 2WIRE gateway. I can connect fine on her old IBM laptop that I am on right now through this network wirelessly.
There has to be a fix for this?

After an upgrade, that profile is commonly du to firewall blocking.
Do you have any other firewalls even if you are not using them?
Have you ever had Norton even if you have uninstalled it? Norton is commonly preloaded on new PCs.
An old Norton can block iTunes if it has been uninstalled.
Are you using an administrator account? iTunes doesn't seem to think you are. It should not be a problem running from a limited user account. That is what I do except when I am installing programs.
Normally TLS 1.0 would be enabled, but I don't think this is the cause of the problem. It can be enabled from Internet Options>>Advanced tab.

  • HPC8180 Printer wont connect to wireless network, after firmware upgrade to Wireless Router

My HPC8180 has been connecting wirelessly since I bought it sometime ago.  I recently had to upgrade the firmware on my Netcom NB9W wireless router and since then my HP wont resolve to the wireless network.
I run the Wireless Network wizzard on the printer, select the correct SSID and enter the WEP key as per instructions.
    It then will not connect.
The summary I print out says it passes everything except:
    No Filtering = Fail
    Connected = Not Run
Signal Strength = Very Low (which is strange because it's about 10ft from Wireless Router).
Other networks detected matching your network name (SSID) = No
    Summary says:
    Network Name (SSID) altnet (correct)
    IP Address = Not applicable
    Configuration Source = Not applicable
    Communication Mode = Infrastructure
    Authentication Type = Open System
    Encryption = 64-bit WEP
I have NOT turned on mac address filtering
    Any ideas??
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Your router appears to be a DSL modem router.  Those can be tricky to connect to.  Also, WEP can be problematic and is no longer a good security measure.  WEP can be broken in about 10 minutes with freeware from the internet.
    Let's do three things:
    1. Change to WPA or WPA2 encryption.  You can make up your own password.  Make it 13 or more characters, numbers and letters, upper and lower case.
    2. Reset the Network Defaults in your printer (Setup > Network area).
    3. Attach to the router in this way:
Sometimes DSL providers have more control over the router than the printer likes.
    - Unplug the telephone line from the router
    - Turn the power off on the router, wait 30 seconds, then turn the power back on.
    - Go through the normal process of connecting the printer to the device (Wireless Setup WIzard)
    - Now find the IP address of the printer (it should be on the self-test printout), type it into a browser.
    - On that screen you will find a Networking Tab, then on the left Wireless, then the IPv4 Tab.
    - On this screen you want to set a Manual IP. You need to set an IP address outside the range that the router automatically sets (called the DHCP range). If you know what that is, set an IP outside that range but no higher than 254 (the last number in the address).
    - Use 255.255.255.0 for the subnet (unless you know it is different, if so, use that)
    - Leave the gateway and DNS blank
    - Finally, plug in the phone line, reboot the router and test.

  • Ipod touch 3.0- wifi wont connect to unsecured network

You guys seem like a pretty dedicated and insightful group so I'll try this here.
I downloaded 3.0 on my first generation touch and everything seems to be fine except my unsecured work network will not let me join. Before I upgraded I never had any problem joining. It comes up available but then doesn't connect. There is no value in the DHCP where there was before. I reset the network settings and cleared my cache with no luck. I have a wifi address
Should a restore be the next step? Or are there any better ideas?

I honestly haven't run across this one yet. You can try this (which works with secured networks):
    1. Reset your network settings
    2. Go to Settings > WiFi > Other networks and type in the name of your network
    3. Tap the name to connect.
If that doesn't do it, I would restore the iPod. You can try restoring from a backup but if that doesn't work, try restoring as new.

  • E5 wont connect to phone network

Hi all, new to the forum, hope someone can help with a problem.
My daughter is in italy and purchased a WIND sim for her Nokia E5. It initially worked in the store but when she got home she no longer could connect to the phone network, no voice calls and no sms capability. The home screen of the phone showed WIND in the upper left corner while at the store but now only says 3G. She has tried restarting the phone to no avail. Any thoughts. Is there a setting we're missing? Thanks.

It may be that you need to contact Wind, but first you could try removing the sim, going to connectivity settings, remove all access points in internet, set phone to Network to dual mode and operator sevices to Automatic and then turn off the phone , re-incert the sim and re-boot it. If this fails, contact wind or the store where you bought the sim card !
    Good Luck
