Wont import all my music

I'm trying to import all my music into itunes but it only does a small portion.  Each time I try to redo it, it will import a different amount.  Not sure what to do, any help would be appreciated.

Danny,
If there is a DRM problem, file corruption, or an incompatible format, the files could not be added to iTunes even one at a time. Is that the case?
The way "Add Folder to Library" is designed to work is to go thru the specified folder, and search all the files and subfolders within it. Some people on this Forum have reported a bug in which in does not complete the job on big folders. If that is the problem you are encountering, try adding in smaller batches, or try the whole thing again after your next upgrade of iTunes.

Have you looked in the Music App on your iPhone? On the iPhone music is played by the Music App not iTunes.

  • Importing all my music to iTunes(Please help me out)

    Hello,
I just purchased a 20gb ipod today and am havintg some trouble importing all of my music. I have complete music library's in "RealPlayer" "Winamp" and "Windows Media Player", it doesnt matter which one of these i import from(whatevers easier i guess). I have tried the add folder option on "Documents and settings", "my documents" and "program files" and it has only imported around 600 of the 3600 songs in my music library.
Also, i have read pages and pages on this board trying to find an answer. I saw one post which talked about this very issue but it was never resolved. It confronted importing from windows media to iTunes and the answer was to highlight all the music and drag it over to iTunes. This Does Not Work. I highlight all my song, hold down on the mouse and move it over to the iTunes box. However once i leave the Windows media box the arrow from my mouse turns into a circle w/a line acrosse, not allowing me to drag it.
Please Give me an answer on how I can import all my music to iTunes. If you do I will kiss your feet and applaud your genious.
    Please help me out.
    Josh

    Hi,
No. I never found a solution to the problem to import my music libary from Realplayer to itunes.
I have exhausted everything that I know and have read as tips from this and other posts.
Please come back to post an answer if you find a solution and I will do the same.
I am going to go ahead and just synch to Realplayer to fill up my ipod. Then I will see if I can switch to itunes for all future synching and hope that I can find a way not to lose the music on my ipod that came from Realplayer. If this doesn't work, I will have to stick with Realplayer as my main music interface and synching for ipod.

  • How do I import all my music into a fresh install of iTunes?

I just installed Windows 7 and iTunes and did something stupid. Before installing iTunes, I moved all my music files (completely intact as the "iTunes Music" folder) into the proper location on my C: drive so iTunes would detect them.
But during the iTunes installation I left the option checked to have iTunes automatically search for mp3/aac files, so what this did was add all my music twice (the first because it just read them from the location, and the second because it re-searched for everything).
So I just deleted everything from iTunes and then did "Add Folder" and chose the iTunes Music folder. Well, this put all my music back into iTunes, but it did not reinstate my playlists. More importantly, it did not carry over my song ratings!
Please tell me what I need to do at this point so that iTunes detects my music just as it was before I reformatted! Do I need to reinstall iTunes, or is there some other way?
    Thanks!

Please tell me what I need to do at this point so that iTunes detects my music just as it was before I reformatted! If it's in iTunes, it has detected it all.
Well, this put all my music back into iTunes, but it did not reinstate my playlists. More importantly, it did not carry over my song ratings!
If you want your rating and playlists, you will need to copy your entire iTunes folder before you reformat and reinstall your OS.

Yo should copy your iTunes folder, not only the iTunes music folder inside the iTunes folder.
Ratings and playlist are contained in the iTunes library.itl file in the iTunes folder.

  • How do i import all the musics from iPod nano into my mac laptop??

You import then to your computer, then you sync them from computer to iPhone using iTunes.  Or, you make a backup of the iPhone 5, then restore that backup to the iPhone 6.

  • How can I import all the music files on my computer directly into my iTunes library?

I recently cleaned my computer of all junk files and this resulted in a loss of all my music from my iTunes library. All of the files are still on my computer but I can only find them one at a time is there a way to speed up this process?

Ok, go to your downloads in itunes and right click on what you wish to remove and click delete, then confirm the dialoague box and it should remove it.  I did this with a free tv episode to test it out.  Just now worked.  If you have problems try updating itunes and then try again.

  • Ok so my computer broke so I can no longer use my iTunes. I have a new computer now. Is there a way where I wont lose all my music

My computer broke and I can't use iTunes anymore. I recently got another computer and I don't want to lose all my music. Is there a way I can keep it on the new itunes

So if I have no computer backup that's means I've lost everything?
No. Copied from my previous post.
There are some 3rd party utilities that provide for transfering music that was not purchased from the iTunes Store from an iPhone along with photos on the iPhone that were transferred from your computer. Keep in mind that photos on the iPhone that were transferred from your computer were optimized for viewing on the iPhone - the original resolution of the photos was reduced. The original resolution of these photos will be lost in the process

  • I just bought a new 160gb classic because my 80gb classic ran out of room. Can i import all the music on my 80gb to my 160 gb and maintain seperate libraries-----Tom

I just bought a new Classic 160gb because i ran out of room on my Classic 80gb. Can i copy all the music from my 80gb Classic on my 160 gb and still maintain seperate libraries----------Thank You  ---Tom

Yes.  The music on the old iPod will need to be stored in your iTunes library on your computer though for you to sync it over to the new iPod.  See this article for different ways to handle multiple iPods with one computer.

  • ITunes not importing all my music files

My little brother was using my laptop and "unintentionally" uninstalled itunes. Well, he then "unintentionally" deleted the file that itunes used for my library.
Luckily, he didnt actually delete any of my actual music on my hard drive. I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and installed it. I went to import my music from my hard drive. It went without a hitch (or so it seemed). As I was looking at music to put on my ipod nano, i noticed that several tracks from a Pimsleur foreign language learning CDs were not in my itunes (I took a basic japanese course for a trip I was taking). Tracks 1, 2, 9 and 10 were there, but 3 - 8 were absent. So I went ahead and tried to import them by importing a file. It didnt work,I tried to import the entire folder again, it didnt work.
My previous iTunes library had no trouble recognizing these CD tracks. All of my music is in MP3 format, btw just to clear up anyone thinking incompatibility issues. What can I check? What can I change? I have yet to uninstall iTunes to see if that would fix this issue. Anything I can try in the mean time?

    CasperGemini wrote:
Can you right-click on the file, and choose Open With > iTunes?
If this doesn't work, I'd suggest re-importing the original CD into iTunes (or at least the tracks that are not working correctly).
    CG
I did as you asked and tried to play it in Itunes. It worked. It played just fine. I tried to import it again. This time it imported them, but instead of importing them correctly, it doesnt have any of the tag information but a name, disc number and track number. No artist, composer, genre, etc.
The only thing I can think that is different is that I "upgraded" to the new version of iTunes instead of keeping the old version. I checked my other program, media monkey, they show up in it just fine, minus the genre. I think there is a problem with iTunes.
    Anyone else have this problem?

  • My ipod wont sync all my music/files, comes up with an error now

    HI there!
My ipod was working fine over a week ago and now it wont work!
I try to sync it and it says it has synced it but only puts on about 200 songs out of 2000- not even that, before it says unknown error and then wipes it all off,and wont sync! someone please help! It isnt the memory as I have 160g!
I have restored it many times, uninstalled and installed itunes a few times too, and nothing
Also when i plug my ipod in it comes up on my laptop screen that i should scan and fix my ipod as files on there that arent right?!
It's very frustrating and Im hoping someone can help me soon,
    Kelly

My ipod was working fine over a week ago and now it wont work!
Let's start with the basic: What changed between the last time it worked and nopw? Did you update your iTunes to a newer version? Plug in any new USB devices? Change the port to which you connect your iPod? Add any new devices that changed drive letters? Apply any patches? Drop or expose the iPod to temperature extremes?
If we know what changed, we can start to figure out how that change caused this problem.
P.S.: If your answer to "what changed" is what I think it is (i.e., you updated iTunes), then reading this summary post of mine may give you a clue as to the problem.

  • How to import all my music back in iTunes?

I formatted my computer and install a new OS. I have iTunes reinstalled but under the Library/Music, all my songs are not listed despite I went into the Edit/Preferences.../Advanced tab and redirect the media folder to my music folder. Any suggestion? All my ringtones are not showing up either.

It's not working. I'm using a PC with Windows 7. I was reading the article you pointed out above but it's not working either. I'm not sure if the article above even applied to my case since the location of all my ringtones and music never changed location. I just redirect iTunes to use the existing location but still iTunes is unable to read all my previous files. Any other suggestions?

  • I did a iTunes backup, put it on an external drive. Formatted my Mac and now when i want to import all my music everything is just weird documents. I cant import anything. Wheres my music?

    I cant find my music!

    Hey elprincipe22,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities! If you backed up your iTunes library by copying to an external hard drive, follow these directions to restore the backup:
    Restoring your iTunes Library backup
When you need to restore your backed up iTunes Library from your external hard drive to your computer, follow these steps:
    Quit iTunes.
    Locate your external hard drive.
Mac: On the Desktop or Finder sidebar.
    Windows: In My Computer
Drag the iTunes folder (backed up earlier) from your external hard drive to whatever location you desire on your internal hard drive. It is recommended that you choose the default location for the iTunes folder, which is:
    Mac OS X: /Users/username/Music
    Windows XP: \Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\My Music\
    Windows Vista: \Users\username\My Music\
    Windows 7 or 8: \Users\username\Music\
Open iTunes while holding down the Option key (Mac) or Shift key (Windows).
In the resulting dialog, click the Choose Library button.
Select the iTunes folder you just moved to the internal hard drive.
Click Choose (Mac OS X) or Open (Windows) and then choose the iTunes Library file inside .
After following these steps, iTunes will open and your iTunes Library will be restored.

Ok, I had a glitch, forced to restart, and lost my train of thought.
Reinstalling iTunes should fix the major issue that might have gone wrong, perhaps your explaination points will disappear and everything will be peachy again.
But if they don't, you can open the XML file in iTunes Folder using a Text edit program to see what the common pathname is to the iTunes Music folder or where your content is located.
If you moved the itunes folder, it needs to go back.
I can't  download iTunes to my Vista virtual machine to test it out right now because iTunes is down, so I can't verify the pathname, perhaps your issue and the iTunes being down are related somehow?
You don't want to import all your music again, but it's a option, but you lose all your playlists, that's what I'm trying to recover.
If oyu don't have a whole lot of playlists, then simply select all the explaimation point music and delete, select File from the menu and import your itunes folder again.
