Wont load OSX after downloading 10.4.10 pop up

Apparently this is a very common problem and not under warranty. I found the perfect forum for this but then lost it so here's my own...
Basically when i turn on my ibook it gets to the OSX window and sinply wont load. I have to take the battery out to turn it off! Should i try starting up in target mode? should i try reinstalling OSX? My local mac dealer says lots of others have the same problem and its not under warranty. Does anyone else know of anything that could work and save us all a few quid?

try running as administrator -- a temp solution for me anyway. Waiting for apple to fix whatever this is. At least one other poster here had same problem and "solution" worked for him as well.

Welcome to the Apple Community.
If your problem persists get yourself a micro USB cable (sold separately), you can restore your Apple TV from iTunes:
Remove ALL cables from Apple TV. (if you don't you will not see Apple TV in the iTunes Source list)
Connect the micro USB cable to the Apple TV and to your computer.
Reconnect the power cable (only for Apple TV 3)
Open iTunes.
Select your Apple TV in the Devices list, and then click Restore.
(You may already have a micro USB cable if you have a camera or other digital device)

Safari wont load pages after software update

i've just updated my safari to 5.1.7 and now after the update it just wont load pages
i tried to install an older virsion and the same thing happens
also ive tried to fully remove the software and reinstall it.

IPhoto wont load even after trying to rebuild

My iPhoto '11 won't load even after I have tried rebuilding it by simply resoting and by trying to rebuild it from a back up. Does this mean that I need to manually rebuild it by pressing the option key before opening iPhoto? Will I lose data by doing this?

Make a back up first.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Downloaded Apps. After download. We tap it to play and it flashes, then returns to home screen. Brand New IPod.

Itunes store wont load properly after upgrading to 10.5

My itunes store wont load at all. Loads halfway, and stops.

Any tips then as to how to resolve it? I've uninstalled / reinstalled itunes and allsorts of other things but still no joy.

Your mac hard drive is dead ,broken ,faulty and it doesn't load anything it just can't load OSX. No broken ,dead things can't do it .

Drives can fail and very fast just a minute and BOOM it's dead . Just get a new hdd and your mac is happy and working again.

JUST GETTING THE LOADING ICON AFTER DOWNLOADING CREATIVE CLOUD SOFTWARE!!!! Please Help!

I just purchased the lightroom 5 and PS suite and went to download them...i was prompted to install the creative cloud first...once i did that, i tried going to the creative cloud App and the menu opened but all i get is the "loading" icon and nothing comes up, even after waiting 100 minutes. I have already chatted on the support forum with "support techs"...they have just told me to un-install and re-install and one even had me run a "cleaner program" but none of it is fixing the problem! i just want to use lightroom 5! And now when i go to trash the install versions and delete my trash bin, it won't let me because it sayds the cleaner cannot be deleted!!!!! what do i do??????????

Hi Rachel, sorry you're having trouble. If it's easier or faster for you, you can just use the Adobe CC direct links to download and install whichever Creative Cloud tools you want, including Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5.
Those links do not use the Creative Cloud Desktop manager app, if you're having difficulties with that.

G5 wont load OSX

I have a customers Late 2004 G5-The thing loads the apple splash and sunburst, but when it gets to the OS X loading screen, it hangs there and the progress bar does not move. I have zapped the smu/pmu and the nvram and still the same thing. I ran techtool advanced on it and nothing... AHT passed fine. Anybody got any ideas?

Glad to hear your making progress.
Disk Utility is a fine software, but is not as powerful and effective at disk repair as Drive Genius, or Disk Warrior. If the DU continues to report errors beyond, say, 4 or 5 repair passes (standard protocol is to run repair until no errors are reported) it might be worth running a more powerful disk repair utility.
Having said this, and seeing as the system now boots, in the interest of time and money, backing up all current data and erasing and reinstalling the OS is possible.
BUT, as the best way to back up is with a clone of the drive, if a clone is made of data/directories containing errors, there is still possibility of data loss due to corruption, or future problems due to errors in the clone.
Making an interim back up, and using a more aggressive/ powerful disk repair utility would seem to be the best course of action. After the drive is returned to a no error state, a boot-able clone could be made, and the decision to replace, or, erase and restore the drive can then be made.
Having the boot-able clone, of course, makes restoring applications and data to the system that much more convenient.
You said this is a "customers" Mac- I would recommend that you have Disk Warrior as an indispensable tool for you to use in your business.

Macbook wont load up after latest apple update

Whilst updating the software today to the latest version i got a message saying that there had been a problem and it needed to restart. I did this and now it will not load past the white screen which usually has an apple logo showing but now has the circle with a line through it! over the top of this there are lines of code in black and white!
When i tried to load the recovery disk whilst pressing "C" it gets to the white screen with the apple logo but beeps 3 times in a row on loop!
I have after market RAM installed and I have removed and re-seated this with no change. I have also reinstalled the apple RAM which has had no affect.
Any help would be very much appreciated.

I am having the same problem. After running and installing App Store software update an error message appeared after about 7 minutes saying the installation failed and could not continue. A restart came to to login screen. Adding my account password spun the circle a few moments then the screen flashed and no login. I tried again. Tried the guest account. Tried zapping PRAM. Tried recovery partition to repair disk permissions. I was able to get an error message to get a new hard drive from a failed disk repair.
2.5 Ghz MacBook Pro 15" A1260 titanium pre-unibody.
Tried safe mode. Get only about 30 seconds of spinning, 1/4 on the progress bar, and then shut down.
I doubt it is a bad disk. I say that because my Windows partition still boots normally using Option at startup.
I read several forums and posts. Found something about a possible glitch with video card switching permissions. Cannot get into any account to change permissions, so I don't know if that is possible at this point.
Found something to startup in single user Command + S mode and check disk persmissions. Something about the 8th character ending in "r" seemed to be correct. A /fsck -fy resulting in an error at catalog, if I recall. A bad hard drive could be possible, but seems really unlikely as I have had no recent disk issues and the Bootcamp partition works fine.
There are a growing number of similar posts on no reboot after update or no login, etc. I doubt sending people out for new drives or kernel panics is the issue. Something with the install failed and is preventing reboot. Any help would be appreciated. I'm on a different computer as I cannot startup in any manner.

LR5 will not load up after download

I downloaded LR5 via creative cloud but once installed when I click on the application icon it appears to be loading up but then disappears. Any ideas as to why?
I am using it on OS Mavericks.

Cannot load OSX after installing Windows 8.1

Can someone please help??
I have tried to install Windows 8.1 using Bootcamp but cannot get into Mac OSX anymore.
I have a Mid 2011 27" iMac which should be compatible with Bootcamp 5 and Windows 8.1. (according to Apple's own info).
On startup I get the "chime" but the system goes straight into Windows. (sometimes).
I don't see the Apple logo at all on startup, and subsequently I cannot get ANY of the startup key combinations to work.
eg C or Shift or Option or Command R.
None of these inputs are being recognised so I am stuck.
Windows itself is not working well either, as most times it will stay stuck on the Windows logo and not progress any further.
I was, at one point, able to complete the windows installation and run the Bootcamp USB setup on it, installing all the Apple drivers etc, but I have not been able to get in Windows since it asked to restart following the driver installs.
Please can someone help?
I cannot understand how I am unable to interrupt the boot sequence and use recovery/safe mode/startup manager etc.
How could Bootcamp install have caused this?

Is this the 27 mid 2011 iMac? Can you double check since your machine is supported by internet recovery assuming you did the upgrade.

It may depend on the plugin that is loaded into your browser. However, right click on a PDF and select the Open With option and go to the default button to select Acrobat as the default. That might do it.

It wont open up after downloading again error comes up

i had foxfire before and everytime i went to use it it would freeze up "not responding" so i tried cleaning out the memory and in the middle of that I restarted the whole computer manually and at this point it would pop up nothing.. so i unistalled it and re-installed it. now a box pops up "your foxfire profile cannot be loaded. it may be missing or inaccessible" And thats it nothing else happens i restarted in muilitple times
