Wont open my project

i have been working on a project all week and im finished with it now. im ready to export the movies and now my project wont open it says its unreadable or is for a newer version of Final Cut. but im using the same one i made it in.
help please

Close FCE and Repair Permissions. Reboot the machine. Instead of launching FCE and opening the project, go to the project's .fcp file and double click. If not, after making sure FCE is not running, find and trash the FCE preferences. Reboot and launch FCE.

CC 2014.0.1 wont open old project

I saved a Premier Pro CC 2014 project on 6th August (3 days ago), I then updated Premiere to the 2014.0.1 and now when it opens the project it just hangs after displaying the timeline, no wave graphics are displayed in the timeline, I tried deleting the preview files, and rebooting, still hangs, I tried opening backups, always hangs and I have to Force Quit it. But it will open other similar projects?
One time when I opened the project I got an error message stating my project had been saved to work with OpenCL, this was now not available and it was going to use CUDA, so wondering if the update has broken some link with the OpenCL drivers? Though the other project I'm working on at the moment is set to use OpenCL and that works???

I solved this by sending the project file to a friend who owns an iMac with no CUDA graphics card and CC 2014.0.1 installed
So the project opened and was by default switched to Software only renderer, he did a Save As and sent me the new project and hey presto it opened on my machine, all I had to do was relink the media and it worked.
So circumstantially it looks like some issue with Nvidia cards using CUDA drivers on some projects saved in CC 2014.0 and then opened on CC 2014.0.1

FCP wont open motion projects on tileline anymore

I have been using the FCP suite by creating motion projects and imoporting the project file onto my fcp timeline, I really like doing this it cuts out allot of wasted time. However I just installed the new itunes and the new quicktime update and suddenly whe i try to change a motion project in fcp via "open in editor" teh OS crashes. says I need to restart...AHHHH.
Any ideas?

Ouch. The OS crashes? Kernel panic? Also read what TheXlab has to say about kernel panics.
It sounds like the QuickTime update might be the source of your problems. I don't know if FCP 5.0.4 and Motion 2.0.1 are friends with QuickTime 7.1.3.

Motion wont open some projects

I am wondering if anyone can help me out with this problem I'm having. I have been working on a project in motion now for the past two weeks. I am putting together two commercials. One 1 minute and one 15 second. The last couple of days the 1 minute project has been running rather slow. I figured this was because I have a lot of layers and only 1GB or DDR SDRAM. The 15 second one runs fine. Just yesterday I closed the ! minute to work on the 15 second and when I went to re-open the 1 minute it wouldn't let me. Every time I go to open it it says there is an error and shuts down. I can still open the 15 second project and other projects as well. Please help if you know what can fix this.

The good news is that the file seems to be intact - i.e. I opened it up in TextEdit and it looks good. It may be that cutting out a portion of the project in a text editor (a layer maybe) might get it to work...

Project file wont open

Help.
I cant open my Premiere Pro project files. After renaming some of the source files now Premiere says 'file format not supported' when I try to open. The same computer and program generated these files. I know I have to relink the media but any ideas why it wont open the project files?

As a happy user of the Matrox RT.X2 for many years, and later an equally happy user of a Matrox MXO2, I can say from experience that it is highly unlikely that this problem has anything to do with the Matrox hardware!
Can you open a new blank project, and save it?
If you cannot import your faulty project into a new project, can you import the sequence from your faulty project?
Have you tried clearing the Media Cache, clearing your preferences, etc. - all among the techniques used to resurrect a Premiere Pro project that has gone bad???

Project in FCE HD wont open

all of a sudden, my project wont open in FCE HD. I was literally working on the project a minute before. and i guess i saved it and closed it. but then i tried to open it again and it says it cant open it. all the settings are the same. the HD is on and running. so why would it do that all of a sudden?

Trash your preferences, then go and find your render files and trash them.If you media is on a separate drive, unmount the drive and try to open the project without the media. If the media's on your system drive, move it to another drive, and then try to open the project. Most likely some file, probably a render file, has gotten corrupted. You have to try to isolate which file it is.

Why wont iMovie open my project?

This is extremely aggravating, iMovie suddenly wont open 2 of my projects. I was working on them for hours and finally got them how i wanted them to be, and when i go to open it later, it won't open! All that happens when I click on it is that it lets me change the name. Even worse, I tried to recreate the projects, I started working, left to do something else, and now it wont let me open one of them, and the other lost all my clips, (went from 10 minutes to 19 seconds). I checked around and tried all I could, deleting the preference file, i made sure the files where in the imovie folder, emptying space on imovie, and nothing works!! Please respond if you have any ideas........
P.S. it is the most updated version of imovie '11 9.0 on a macbook pro

Does it give any sort of error message? Can you post the app somewhere publicly where someone can download it and look at it? I certainly understand if you cant.

Project wont open anymore

Hey you all,
I want to add some changes to one of my projects in Imovie. But the project I'm working on wont open anymore in the library. I can play it, but I can't click the button 'change project' anymore. And it's only the case of this one particular project. Have I locked something? How do I undo this?

Project wont open

I started an idvd project a few days ago and just tried to reopen it and finish it up. I click on the project which has been saved on my dektop. the idvdicon bounces into the main launch pad but the project wont open. i closed it and reopened then it just played the music but no edit window, i couldnt see the project. I treid again, i even restarted my macbook pro, and reopened the project, couldnt see or hear the project once lost... whats going on? what do i do? i need to finish this by tomorrow..... ug

• Trashing iDVD pref file
and hope that it will help

I would start iDVD - but keep alt-key down during up-start - Then Select to do a Brand New iDVD Project.
The old project might got corrupted - and if so it's lost as far as I understands it
AND !
• FREE SPACE ON Start-Up (Mac OS) Hard Disk - HOW MUCH is there ?
I never go less than 25GB - when using interlaced SD-Video material
I guess that 4-5 times more will be safe if HD-material is used
Free space on other external hard disks - OF NO interest at all - the space must be on Boot one.

Fcpx wont open project

The"body party" project i am working on just wont open. the even folder shows up but i only see the title information for the actual project. when i try to open it the program crashes. Ive been working on coloring the project with the mlooks 2 plugin those were the last changes i made. i also have other projects on the same hard drive and they are fine.

In the Finder open up the project folder. Open up Backups folder and drag the file that is inside it to the same level in the folder hierarchy as the CurrentVersion file. Hide the Current Version file in a temp folder. Rename the backup file CrrentVerion.fcpproject.
Launch FCP and see whether project opens.

Imovie project wont open/publish

Ive used imovie for a while, and its been fine. But i just opened a project, closed it, then opened imovie again, but i now cant open the project, when i click on it the picture shows its corrupted? What can i do?
i then renamed the project, and it opened, but did not play, so i tried exporting it. when exporting, it stopped and read an error message

This project could not be prepared for publishing because an error occurred (-2009)
I then tried it again, and instead of (-2009) coming up, it was (-50)
Does anyone know what this means? Its urgent !

1 project just wont open!!

i posted something earlier today about a message coming up saying core audio not available. i have since solved that problem. it turned out to be N.I's massive somehow craping out. it got to the point where after a few plays of a looped region, massive would end up crashing logic. i isolated it down to massive and have now uninstalled massive and re installed.
the problem now is that the project i was having the problem with will not open at all. all other projects open fine.
i have reinstalled massive... nothing
removed p lists and repaired disk permissions...nothing
i have tried to open from recent items. from open and from the project folder on my external drive.
if i right click on the logic icon in the dock it says project not responding.
any ideas would be much appreciated

a couple of things.
Did you look in the Audio Units Manager. Is Massive "successfully validated" I have 1.1.4 as the latest?
Did you create a new project with just Massive and recorded something with it, then save the project and close Logic 9, then open the project? This is to test Massive within Logic 9. If this works, it could be something else in that project.
Did you test Massive standalone. Just making sure it works with your current OS/patches.
This is also to test in case your authorization got screwed up.
I'm planning a massive (no pun intended) test from my iMac (Logic 8.0.2) to my Macbook Pro (Logic 9) all this week. I haven't gotten to Massive yet, I can try that first.

Itunes, Imovie, Final Cut ALL WONT OPEN

So i have recently deleted my quicktime, and then I tried to re-install.
When i tried to re-install, It told me that quicktime was already on my computer so i went and searched for allll quicktime components i could find and trashed them, thinking i could completely remove it that way and then re-install.
Now, my ITUNES, my IMOVIE and my FINAL CUT, well basically anything that uses video or audio wont open at all. It says it quit unexpectedly but it doesnt open in the first place.
I SOMEHOW managed to install quicktime 7 but it wont open either. I guess i deleted something important, I just wish i knew what it was so i could try and restore it.

You now need to reinstall your entire operating system from the original install disks.
You will also have to reinstall all Apple applications that install "add-on" QT components, as well as, any third-party components you may require. Depending on your specific method of re-installation, you may also have to purge PLIST files as well. If you really messed with the QT structure imbedded in the OS rather than simply deleting player apps and components that support the imbedded structure externally, I personally would back up all projects and data files I wanted to keep and then wipe and test the hard drive before performing a complete "clean" install. And, even if you only deleted the superficial apps and suppornt components, you will likely have to re-install the packages that would replace everything you've removed and stil may have to purge the PLIST files to get the replaced apps to open properly. Even then, you may come across some broken links to certain components owing to some apparent inconsistancies the in installation/re-installation and software upgrade work flow. (E.g., you may end up with the wrong or a non-functioning iMovie '08/'09 "AppleMPEG2Codec.component" being installed.) In short, as Klaus1 indicated, you may have opend a real "can of worms" from which it may be difficult to extricate yourself.
