Wont play unchecked selections?

I'm having a problem.
I have a 1st generation iPod nano which is 1 gig, and hardly anything fits in it so i decided to make sure it only synced checked selections. When i put iTunes on shuffle, it played the unchecked songs, but ever since i updated it, it will only play checked selections.
Is there anyway i can make iTunes play both unchecked and checked selections while my iPod only syncs checked selections?
Any help would be much appreciated.

To answer your question, no you can not have unchecked songs play automatically in iTunes.
Instead what you want to do is recheck all those songs, then create playlists of just under a Gig and set up your iPod to only sync that playlist, not your whole library. Now only a some stuff goes on the iPod but also everything remains checked in your library.
An idea for a playlist might be something like this...
Shot at 2007-07-30
In this playlist it auto fills up to 900MB (since a "1G" nano is less than a gig. You can modify that number to whatever works for you) and it fills it up with the stuff that has been the longest since you last played them (this will also include any new/unplayed tracks). As you play songs, when you update the iPod, the playlist will automatically be adjusted to remove recently played songs and replacing them with songs that have not been played in the longest time (or at all), so you get an automatically changing/updating selection of songs on the Nano AND can leave everything checked in your library.

  • HT204406 i bought 2 songs on my iphone 5 and they wont play when selected it goes to different songs. How do i get them to play again?

I cant get the 2 songs to play after i backed up and set up Icloud. The songs show up on the artist and song selections but not in the purchased playlists. When i select the songs either throws me to another song/artist or it takes me right back to the artist art work.

    Try:
    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Delete the songs and redownload:

  • I have just upgraded to the new version of itunes on windows7 and now albums added post udgrade wont play when added to ipod.

    Hi
I have just upgraded to the new version of itunes on windows 7. I have just added 8 albums (Mp3 format) to my itunes library, synced with my Ipod classic and my wifes ipod nano, the albums have transferred to the devices but wont play when selected. Yet they will play in itunes.
When I select the album on the ipod, it opens up as normal but when you press play nothing happens other than a wining sound from the hard drive of the ipod.
My itunes library is a mix of itune purchases and mp3 purchases and this is the first time I have experienced this issue
Hopefully there is a simple explanation to this

It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

  • My ipad touch wont play music, an arrow flashes by the battery icon, which is charged and it just reverts back to the selected song without playing...what can i do to fix this?

    Help!
My ipad touch wont play music, an arrow flashes by the battery icon, which is charged and it just reverts back to the selected song in a second without playing...what can i do to fix this?  thanks, joe

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

  • So my ipod wont play anything. screen works and i can move and select things and play games but music or vidios wont play. help?

  • I have copied over my music file to a new computer and the music shows on itunes but wont play. When I track where the song is located it is reading the wrong information. How do I change this as Edit Preferences has the right location

I have copied over my music files to a new computer and the music shows on itunes but wont play. When I track where the song is located it is reading the wrong information. How do I change this as Edit>Preferences has the right location?

Select one of the tracks with a broken link, press ctrl-i to Get Info. Say No when iTunes asks if you would like to locate the track, then look at the Summary tab for the location expects to find the file in.
Now try to locate the file in question. The two locations should give a clue as to what to do next.
Here is an example with a file I've deliberately moved from the new layout to the old pre-iTunes 9 layout.
This means iTunes is expecting to find the file at:
    D:\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\a-ha\Take On Me\01 Take On Me.mp3
but it isn't there because I've moved it to:
    D:\iTunes\iTunes Media\a-ha\Take On Me\01 Take On Me.mp3
which is where it would have lived back in iTunes 8 (though the media folder would have been called iTunes Music back then as well).
If you can provide the expected and actual locations of a broken track I should be able to suggest the easiest way to resolve things.

  • My playlists wont play in order on ipod playlist. why?

My playlists wont play on my touch in the same order as they show on the touch playlist scheme. Why? & ive gone onto ituned & clicked on orderofplay!

With iTunes 8.x you have the option to tell iTunes to treat any audio file as an audiobook. Simply select the tracks, *Get Info.*, then on the options tab set *Media kind* to Audiobook. You can also set options to *Remember playback position* and *Skip when shuffling*.
Assuming, however, that the books consist of more than one file you may have problems if you plan to listen to them on an iPod. The Audiobooks feature was originally designed for books that have been stitched up into a single file and hasn't been updated to reflect the changes that make multi-track audiobooks easy to work with in iTunes. There are tools for creating iPod-friendly audiobooks for which Aldo on Audiobooks is probably the best reference. Personally I don't bother with the extra effort and just have an "Audiobooks" playlist folder containing sub-folders for each author and within these playlists for each audiobook. Although I still mark the files as Audiobooks to keep them out of my main music section when it comes to the iPod I ignore its Audiobooks options and use my own playlists for access.

    Hello Wade,
This is typically indicative of an issue with the installation of QuickTime on your computer. The following article provides steps for reinstalling QuickTime to resolve the issue.
"iTunes cannot run because it has detected a problem with your audio configuration"
    Resolution
QuickTime may need to be reinstalled. Follow the steps below to uninstall QuickTime and then download and install QuickTime using the QuickTime standalone Installer.
On the Start menu, click Control Panel.
Follow the steps appropriate for your Windows operating system below.
Windows XP and Windows 2000: Open the Add or Remove Programs control panel and selectQuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.
Windows Vista and Windows 7: Click Uninstall a program (or if using Windows Vista's Classic View of the Control Panel, click Programs and Features) and select QuickTime in the list of currently installed programs.
Click the Remove button (or Uninstall for Windows Vista and Windows 7) and follow the prompts to remove QuickTime from your computer.
Download QuickTime. Note: There are two options for downloading QuickTime, be sure to select the option that does not include iTunes.
    During the download:
If you choose to run the installer, proceed to the next step.
If you choose to save the download, double click the QuickTimeInstaller file, then proceed to next step.
Follow the on-screen instructions to install QuickTime.
    Reopen iTunes.

  • New songs synced to my ipod wont play, the songs play fine on itunes and appear on ipod but wont play..any help appreciated

New songs synced to my ipod wont play, the songs play fine on itunes and appear on ipod but wont play..any help appreciated

So, if you select one of these songs on the iPods screen, and try to play it, what happens?  The iPod does nothing?  It skips to the next song?
It's possible you will have to do a Restore on the iPod, if there is data corruption on the iPod causing this problem.  The Restore erases the iPod, and removes any corruption.
NOTE:  There may be a hardware problem, such as the iPod's hard drive becoming unreliable, that is causing this problem and data issues.  It may continue to operate as long as its data stays mostly unchanged, but if you do a Restore to update the hard drive's data in a major way, it is possible that the Restore will fail and leave the iPod non-operable.

  • My ipod shuffle 4g wont play music from a cd

my ipod shuffle 4g used to play music, and i gave it to my dad. he synced it with a different pc and now music wont play. he put roughly 15 songs from a cd or two and only one plays, however it seems like a non-ear damaging version of static (that's the closest description i can get). the pc has WinXP SP2 Home 900MHz 256mb ram but i noticed iTunes when you open the all about it thingy (how to use it, etc not help but an overview) the videos become corrupt and if they do play they horribly lag and have color distortion (nothing is actually wrong with my monitor tho), and when you try to eject an ipod it says nothing is in that drive and you have to use My Computer to do it. its mysterious because on my Win7 laptop it used to function just fine, with music that came with Win7, iTunes Store content, and liek 5 cd songs. anyone know what's wrong? i haven't used iTunes in a while so I forgot a lot about how to use the deep menus and troubleshooting, etc. the pc is very old (he bought it from a gaming uhh... it was a place that used to be popular for gaming when computers had windows 2k, xp, me, and early versions of mac osx so the computer was very old and the place was going to close) about idk but it had Win2k and he upgraded it to the current version of xp. and the warranty on the iPod expired last month, because i bought it on my 12th bday, and i got frustrated because now i can't take it to an apple store for help free of charge or send it in for free warranty repair. grrr...so any help is MUCH MUCH MUCH appreciated.

Did you select the option to play the music via BT?
    Did it work before?
Do the spkearker work OK on another device?

  • Help! My ipod keeps forwarding through my tunes but wont play any music!!

Hello all, I am hoping that someone can shed some light on this problem.
I was in the gym, litening to my ipod and went to forward a song then it just started to forward though the lot and wont play any songs!!

That happened to my iPod. Have you tried either restarting your iPod nano or so hold the menu and the select button down until the apple logo appears. Or go to your menu, and let it scroll through all of the songs on your iPod and after that it should be fine. Thats what I did for mine. I hope this works!

  • Itunes wont play music after 10.5 update.

no beach ball, nothing unusual. acts normal just doesnt play. i can scroll through a song or movie and it still wont play. ive reinstalled and it doesnt play. OS is osx lion 10.7.2 itunes version 10.5

i had this problem and then figured out that i had toggled something to make itune airplay all my music to my living room apple tv -- so music output was going there and not to my computer.  bottom right hand corner of itunes screen there is a box with arrow pointing upwards into it which gives you the airplay options...make sure select to your computer
