Wont read new Ram card

Hi ive recently purchased a S10-2 running on windows XP. 2 days ago I purchased a 2gb ram card to replace the existing 1gb that came with it when i bought it last week.
Installed it all in properly with the help of a video. (thats the only thing im sure about what ive done).
when i start it up, it suggests I start it back to when the system last worked properly and 2 other options- Ive tried all 3 and cant get past that process, keeps reverting back to that page.
Some forums are suggesting something about checking BIOS,
would very much appreciate some tips as I have no idea what that is or where to check.
meanwhile I will go and look up what Bios means :-)
p.s
Ram Ive purchased is a
 Zepto Memory DDR2 667MHz PC5300/2049MB
kind regards
Rob

Bios is information that loads before windows to tell what is going on with the system.
To get into bios (I am not aquainted with youir machine) your book might tell you, if not try hitting the delete key as the computer first begins to boot.  If that doesn't work try F2, try F8 and F10 if 2 doesn't work.
When yoiu get to bios look around for a reset to default or restore defaults, then press F10 to save and exit.  That will pick up the memory if it hasn't already.
You should pop the new memory out and stick it back in to be sure it seats correctly.  Twice I've changed memory in netbooks and for some reason it did not seat correctly.
You might also try poping the new memory out and putting the old back in and be sure it works.

updated my iphone 3gs to the 5 ios and now my phone wont read my sim card when i reactivate it.
Every time i connect it to itunes all it says is "There is no SIM card installed in the iphone you are attempting to activate." Even thought there is a sim card connected in my phone.

Is the SIM from a supported carrier?
Is the device carrier locked, officially unlocked, or hacked to be unlocked?
Has the SIM been reseated?  If not, try that.
Also, basic troubleshooting is reset, restart, restore.  Has any of that been tried?

  • My iphone3gs wont read any sim card i put into it, is it the sim card reader? how do i fix it?

My iphone3gs wont read any sim card i put into it, is it the sim card reader? and how do i fix it? and yes the sim card matches the carrier

Possibly. Make an appointment at the genius bar and have them take a look at it.
If it was ever hacked to unlock it or jailbroken, it may now be permanently bricked.

  • HT1386 what to do if my iPhone wont read a sim card

I have just purchased a iPhone off ebay and it wont read my sim card, any ideas on how to fix this

Your iPhone was not unlocked, so you cannot pop in a sim and expect it to work.
For all I know, maybe the iPhone was stolen.
Anyway the only option you have is to get the carrier the iPhone is locked to, to officially unlock the iPhone.
Also ask your seller the questions in this document

If you do not get an answer, ask for a refund because the iPhone will be useless to you.

    Hello Malith Ratnayake,
After changing the old RAM by the new one, this issue occurs?
If the issue doesn’t occur when you change back to use old ram, I think it is the RAM hardware issue.
Please contact the hardware manufacturer for better support.

  • HT4623 I've update my 3gs to ios 6 but it wont read my sim card to complete the update

i have unlock the sim card using other phone. When i insert the card it wont read my card
it says that try connect to itunes but when i did it itunes say there are no sim card in your iphone please insert and connect again. What!!!???
Now I'm stuck in the middle of activation of my iphone and i cant do jacksqwat any advice would be SO COOL

You need a valid SIM card from the carrier to which the phone is locked.  It sounds like you do not have a legitimately unlocked iPhone, and upgrading the iOS has re-locked it to the legitimate carrier
Only the carrier can unlock the phone.

  • TS3297 Itunes wont except new ATM card. Eventhough its works on other sites. Dont get it.

    Hello,
Itunes will not except my new ATM card information. I have used my new card on other sites with no issues. I have called my bank several times....i have been told "nothing is wrong with your card"
I cant figure out what the issue could be.
    Any ideas?
    HELP! I need new music!!!

If it's a debit card then I don' think that they are still accepted as a valid payment method - they are not listed on this page and there have been a number of posts recently about them being declined.
If it is a credit card then is it registered to exactly the same name and address (including format and spacing etc) that you have on your iTunes account, it was issued by a bank in your country and you are currently in that country ? If it is then you could try contacting iTunes support and see if they know why it's being declined : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

  • Won'r read new sd card

new phone new card.  start up screen says preparing sd card.  go to settings sd card and mount and format sd card is grayed out.  take picture and it says to insert sd card????  removed and reinstalled and rebooted several times no luck?

I havent been able to get the Format option to show under Settings > SD Card & Phone Storage but you can remove the card from the phone and place in PC and format FAT32 and see if the device reads it once placed back in phone.

  • SD card reader wont read a 2Gb card in Qosmio F10

I've recently had the motherboard replaced and now the SD card reader ignores my 2Gb cards, but still recognises a 128Mb one.
An explanation or fix would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

The SD memory card driver is software and should be installed after inserting the SD card into the slot.
Its not listed in the device manager and you will see only the SD host controller in the device manager.
Please check additional if the Flash Media Driver must be refreshed.

  • 2007 imac wont recognize new ram

installed 2gb centon ddr2-667 memory in empty slot, supposed to be mac ready but computer does not change still says slot is empty? any suggestions?

Correct and reliable Mac RAM can be purchased from online Mac RAM sources Crucial memory or OWC (macsales.com).
If you purchased RAM from any local computer or any electronics retailer, you bought incompatible and wrong RAM!
Return the RAM and get a full refund.
There are NO local electronics retailers that carry the proper Mac RAM.
Reliable and correct Mac RAM can only be purchased online.
FYI, your iMac can take a total of 6 GBs of RAM.
Can only be purchased from OWC ( macsales.com).

  • I have a MacBook Pro and have an older SD card reader but it will not read new cards. Is there a new reader that I need to install. I have MAC OS X 10.6.8

Does anyone know why my computer will not read newer SD cards. I have a reader that read early cards fine but not the new ones.

How many GB is your new card?
Older machines have SD card slot, new machines have SDX card slot.

  • Help! Installed new RAM and now screen isn't coming on!

    Hi
I'm in a bit of a mess and would be grateful for any help with this one:
I have a Powerbook G3 500mhz Pismo that currently has a 512mb card in the top slot (Kingston PB100/512) that I installed about two years ago with no problems and an original 128mb in the bottom. At Christmas I bought another 512mb for the bottom slot – (Kingston KTA-PBG4/512 - This one is smaller than the first but it was the one reccomended by Kingston on their website for the Pismo).
I have just got round to installing it after backing up my system and I have good instructions on how to do it (I have replaced the HD two years previous with no problems)
Firstly I have to mention that just before I changed the RAM the laptop fell from a small stool (about 1.5feet high) onto carpet due to the unbalancing effect of taking out the battery/CD ROM. It landed on its edge where the power socket is. I immediately put it back together and turned it on to make sure it was ok - it came on fine and there were no problems visually, mechanically or otherwise, so I carried on with the installation.
I installed the new 512mb card in the bottom slot and re-assembled but when I turned it on the screen remained black! From the computer itself, however, it sounded as if it had started up ok – there was the chime and the familiar sound of the hard drive at start up.
To troubleshoot I removed the new RAM card and put back the old RAM as it was – this made no difference. I checked to see if the processor board was firmly in place or if I had dislodged any connectors by mistake within the area that I had worked but this made no difference. I also tried to re-set the parameter RAM and this made no difference.
Because the laptop took a small knock prior to installation, I am not sure if that has caused something to come loose or damage of some kind but as I mentioned I did test it immediately and it worked, so it’s either a delayed reaction or the new RAM card has caused it. – (As mentioned there is a difference between the two 512 cards in both name and size but the smaller size of the newer one I assume just reflects advancement in technology and it was reccomended by Kingston!)
If anybody has any advice on this I would be very grateful (and also, if anybody can point me in the direction of instructions on how to take the pismo apart to get to the connections to the screen that would be great – in case I have to do it)
    Many Thanks Barry
    PowerBook G3500mhz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    SpottyFox,
It sounds like you are properly seating the CPU card from your description, so I don't believe that is your problem. I am glad you checked the pins (I should have mentioned that as the next step if the reseating did not help). I cannot answer whether anything was damaged from your description of the pins; I have read where others have realigned bent pins with success so maybe your mileage will vary.
Start up your Pismo, then shine a flashlight directly into the display; if you can see data being written to the display, just the backlight is refusing to light. If this is the case, check the inverter board connections. The inverter is under the clutch cover and powers the fluorescent backlight in the display. Enlarge the bottom picture in this link to see the inverter:
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac/PowerBook-G3-Pismo/Inverter-Page-10-Inverter
Check connections at each end of the inverter. Disassembly is not as extensive as this guide suggests. Support the back of the display, then remove the main battery, optical drive, lay the keyboard on its face on the palm rest, heat shield, and clutch cover...that's it.
    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/6.0.0.html
You might also connect the Pismo to an external display; failure here would suggest a more serious problem.

  • Upgrading RAM cards not showing up in system profiler... is this normal?

Just replaced both 1GB RAM cards in my macbook pro with two 2GB RAM cards, but when I go into "about my mac" it is still saying that I only have 2GB of memory, and when I go into system profiler and click "memory" it is still showing/giving details on two 1GB cards, is this normal or did I not install the new RAM cards properly? I assumed it would update the info to show the additional memory?

    This is not normal
Open up the Mac and reseat the RAM modules. This may help.
If this doesn't resolve the issue, return the modules to the supplier and get the proper modules.
    Best.

  • Help - my Ibook has no RAM card in it

    Hi all,
I'm upgrading my husband's OS (he has the Ibook G4 and I want to install Leopard). So I purchased some extra RAM in order to do this and I'm in the process of putting in the new card, and I now I see he has no memory card in his Ibook - is this a problem? Can I just put the new RAM card in?
    Thx

What version of OS X is now installed?  With the added RAM does the computer meet the other Leopard requirements? Do you have a backup of the computer's hard drive? Have you done the following?
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
