Wont reboot past start up, recovery now looping!

Help! my phone has been freezing up lately, normally if i take the battery out, put it back in and then turn it back on it will be fine, but now i cant get my phone to boot past that very first white HTC startup screen. I tried rebooting it in recovery and now im even more screwed! it goes past the HTC screen into a little image of a phone with little green arrows above it (kinda like a refresh symbol) then that symbol turns into a red triangle with an exclamation point in it. that's where it stops. i try removing the battery again, but the instant i put it back in, it does the same thing, it doesnt even give me a chance to turn it on with the power and down button, it just turns itself on and keeps repeating that cycle! What do i do?!

Katie,
I'm having the same issue. I've tried recovery, factory reset, wiping cache...nothing is working. Whenever it's in the process of these operations I watch what the screen says and it keeps saying it can't mount certain files. And when the hboot screen first comes up, before you can choose your option it flashes up some files and says image bad or not found. I'm starting to think either it's an update issue as the person above mentioned or my phone picked up a virus. The last time I connected my phone to my laptop the Kaspersky anti-virus on the computer set off an alarm. I'm not sure if that was due to a file on the phone or due to one of the driver files. Anyway, I am an over-the-road trucker so if there is any possibility of resolving this without taking it to a store, which would be difficult until I get home, I would appreciate some guidance. Thanks.

  • URGENT, Phone wont get past start-up screen and iTunes doesnt see it

My 3.0.1 problems just got WAY worse!!!
After the 3.0.1 update I started having the same issues as everyone else until today. I noticed that my clock was just picking a random time( hours and minutes were off) and would not take to my manual setting of the time or on auto. So as i have been doing several times throughout the day, i performed a hard reset. Only this time it never came out of the reboot/start-up apple symbol screen. I then attempted to perform the hard restart several more times to no avail. I am now stuck with a phone that will not boot nor can i connect it to my computer. While connected, iTunes does not detect it and i can not do a restore either. any suggestions would be great but i fear for the worst!!!

Try to connect in recovery mode and restore: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808
If you can make it, restore "as new iphone" , maybe your backup contains corrupt files and these would be copied back using the "restore from backup" function.

  • Wont get past Starting OS X on Menu

MY ibook g4 17 inch used to start up and go to the grey screen where the apple logo was and sometimes the loading wheel below it would not come up , I used to just turn it off and try and restart it and every now and again i would have this problem and sometimes i wouldnt have it at all. But now The computer gets past the grey screen moves to the blue and in the window it says starting Mac Os X and the blue bar loads completely but it never gets past the Loading screen it just sits there. I tried repairing the disk and some things were repaired while others were not. It gave me errors about some ofmy applications and files reading as rxrxr-r error when it should be rw-rw-r . What should i do? im into home recording and have lots of audio files and projects created that i do not want to loose and i also need my computer for school. But all i can do is let it sit and the loading screen or try re install osx and when i tried that it said there was a disk error and could not be done.

yes i did that and now i am using panther for my os but some of my software will not work, my cubase unesxpectedly shuts down, and imovie unexpectedly shuts down, ichat will just jump in the dock a couple of times when i try to run it but nothing happens, that also happens with iphoto, mail, safair, quicktime, and ical but garageband and idvd seem to work fine. Im now using osx 10.3.9. I can not find my black disk witht he x on it. i think that it was panther. If i buy tiger or wait for leopard will it fix my application problem? also im using internet explorer and whenever i go to the apple.com/downloads it freezes and i have to force quit it all the time so i can not get any downloads.

  • First Generation Mac Mini Wont Go Past Start Up Screen

Last night I was doing some cleaning up on my Mac Mini (pre intel) just deleteing some pictures, some songs, stuff like that... after I was done that, I did a Verify Permissions, and a Repair Permissions.. it went very smooth.. fixed a couple of errors... then I shut down my computer.. so far nothing out of the ordinary... then later on, I went to use it again, so I turned it on... heard the chime, grey screen, grey apple logo spinny circle, all normal... except it has now stayed on the screen for HOURS..... I tried to start in safe mode, wouldnt do it, I put in my OS Disk, to try and boot from that by holding down C, wouldnt do it... I tried to reset PRAM (appleoptoion+pr) nothing... so then I tried to reset PMU (unplug everything plug in the power while holding the power button.. nothing...
can someone tell me what is going on with my mini????

I would concentrate on trying to get this thing booted from your original install disc. From there you can run DiskUtility from the Utilities menu at the top of the screen.
You'll need a usb keyboard, preferably directly connected to the Mini's usb port. The Apple Aluminum keyboard won't work for this, but just about any PC usb keyboard or other Mac usb keyboard will work. Hold down either the C key or the Option (or Alt) key as soon as you hear the startup chime (or beep).
Be sure you are using the install disc that shipped with your Mini.

  • How can i restore an iPhone 5 from Recovery Mode loop with broken lock/sleep button?

    Hello,
I just tried to delete all my data from my iPhone 5 32gb iOS 7.0.4 (with not working lock/sleep button) to install iOS 8.0.2 and after that the loading bar appeared on the screen. When it finished, the iPhone rebooted and went into Recovery Mode loop and it is still in it (after 3 hours +). Also, iTunes doesn't detect the iPhone at all.
I hope, the solution will be found, thanks.

    Any suggestions?

  • IMac won't reboot past the apple screen. 2009 10.6?

My iMac wont reboot past the white apple screen! What do I do?

Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.

  • Hacker problems so I reloaded Snow Leopard. Afterwards, Mac had to delete 798 items. Now looping on 4 items to delete for the past 2 weeks. Can't reboot, reload, or restart. I have to let the battery run down for it to turn off. How to fix this, please?

I had hacker problems so I reloaded Snow Leopard. Afterwards, Mac had to delete 798 items. Now it is looping on 4 items to delete for the past 2 weeks. I can't reboot, reload, or restart. I have to let the battery run down for it to turn off. I think a big part of the problem is that someon one the internet (the hacker) was mirroring my hard drive. It seems to have locked up my system. I could be wrong about this guess, though. All I do know is that it is now looping on the last 4 iems, and I can't do anything.
Well, I can get it to turn on, but all it does is continously try to delete the last 4 items. When I try to reload Snow Leopard, it tells me my hard drive is full and that I need to delete items.
Can anyone help? I am so lost without my Mac. I am back on the PC, and though it works, I'm sure many of you will understand when I say it's just not a Mac.
    Thanks.

I installed Snow Leopard using my Apple external Superdrive. I followed directions I found on the Apple site. Here is the article info:  Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard: How to Erase and Install
                     Article HT3910
                     located at: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3910
Everything was going smoothly until I got to the reinstall part. I had to choose to reinstall on a hard drive or network drive. I've never used a network drive; just the hard drive. It seems that's where the troubles began. I selected the hard drive. It seemed to go well, and then I got the message that I needed to delete some files because I was out of space. I chose to get rid of my music files, but, there were only 636. I don't know what the rest of the files were. I was using the Secure Empty Trash command.
That was my first time doing an erase and install. I tried to do it again, but I now get a continuous error telling me that my hard drive is full and I must delete files. Only I can't delete files because 4 files are still being deleted and my computer won't let me stop the process.
I found out about the hackers mostly by the fact that whenever I used to watch something like Hulu or Netflix, I never had problems with internet connection or speed. Lately, I had internet connection problems. I went in to check my settings for my internet provider and found out the settings had been changed to public and all these extra computers were connected to my network.

my phone froze so i switched it off using the power button and home. now everytime it switches on, it wont go past the apple screen??

    Hello 3m4nz4,
After reviewing your post, I have located an article that can help with your device. It contains a number of troubleshooting steps and helpful advice for the issue you are experiencing:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on - Apple Support
Your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch may occasionally stop responding to buttons, switches, or touchscreen input and may exhibit one or more of these symptoms:
Does not return to the Home screen after you press the Home button
Does not wake from sleep after you press the Sleep/Wake button
Does not turn on (or power on) when you press any button
Does not start up past Apple logo
    Appears frozen or unresponsive
Is unable to "Slide to Unlock" or "Slide to Power Off"
    To troubleshoot these symptoms:
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
Thank you for contributing to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    BobbyD

Today I tried to update to IOS 8 on my ipad 4. I thought I was doing everything right. I did it through itunes.  I updated iTunes to 11.4.  I backed up before starting. It now is frozen. itunes says it's in recovery mode. The only options it gives me is to Restore so I say ok... after a few seconds  I get get error 3014.  It says this ipad can not be restored.  It has a button to click for more info which leads me to this page:  Error 3194, Error 17, or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"
Please help, I have a back up I just can't get to it.  Why did this happen!!!
    HELP!

I have since tried a few more things... suggestions found online...
I tried using another computer, same house same internet link though... it downloaded the update again, took about an hour & a half but as soon as it finished it said it could not restore because "device could not be found".  I unplugged my ipad then plugged it back in so it would "see"  it but it just went right back to the "ipad in recovery mode needs to be restored"... then the same error 3014.
I don't know if the computer can sense the ipad or what's going on.  On the screen when it wants to do the restore it has an icon of an ipad & it says "Serial Number: n/a
The next thing I tried...  was right clicking iTunes & choosing "Run as Administrator".  It started another hour & a half download of the update... but then when it was done it went right back to the error 3014.
Is there nothing that can help?!?
