Wont Start Up After Reboot

Hi,
I am using Oracle 8.1.7 and I have little experience of Oracle. I have rebooted my Oracle server. I am using Oracle DBA Studio to connect to the domain that has been created, e.g. CONL_LOCALHOST.DOMAIN.CO.UK. When I try and connect I get an error saying:
"SID given in connect descriptor could not be resolved"
When the server was rebooted and it came back up there were the following messages in the Application Event Viewer:
"The service has terminated abnormally. See the file C:\oracle\ora81\sysman\log\oms.nohup for details."
"The process termination failed for JRE. %2."
Any help on this would be very much appreciated
Thanks

Hi,
The OracleOraHome81ManagementServer service is set to start automatically and does not start. It does not start if I try and start it manually and I just get the standard error. It just says "This could be an internal Windows error or an internal server error......"
The contents of the tnsnames.ora file that is located in C:\oracle\ora81\network\ADMIN is detailed below. Does this look correct?

Someone suggested that I manually start the service from the command prompt, but I get the following error.
Any ideas?
I have looked in 'C:\oracle\ora81\DATABASE\' and there is not a file there called 'INITGLOBAL.ORA'
The files in this directory are: oradba.exe, oradim.txt and PWDGLOBAL.ORA

  • Automatically start oracle after reboot

Is there a way to automatically start oracle after reboot? Our platform is Soaris 10 and Oracle 10.2.0.1.0

    (1) Don't forget to edit $ORACLE_HOME/bin/dbstart. (Note:337927.1)
    Original line:
    ORATAB=/etc/oratab
    Modified line:
    ORATAB=/var/opt/oracle/oratab
    (2) As per Note:336299.1 use:
    dbstart $ORACLE_HOME
    or
dbstart /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0 (or whatever is your Oracle_Home)
or you'll get: "ORACLE_HOME_LISTNER is not SET, unable to auto-start Oracle Net Listener"

Will DB start automatically after rebooting the computer?

    user9947478 wrote:

I assume, since it seems to be difficult for you to tell us what operating system you use, that you use some form of Windows. In which case, the answer is 'Yes, automatically set up - as seen by the Services'.
(Windows users don't seem to realize there are other OSs and therefore don't tell. They also don't realize that Windows is not an OS, but rather the marketing label for a whole families of OS Editions. Some popular families are: Windows XP, WIndows 2003, Windows 2008, Windows 7. But even then, Oracle only works on specific Editions within the family.)

  • I have a iMac that wont start up after it sits for a short time

I have a iMac that wont start up after it sits for a short time. I changed out the hard drive and reinstalled Leopard. If I mess with it a little I can get it to start up usually by repairing the hard drive with another computer, one time I just held down the P-R-option and command keys and it worked. Once its on it will restart no problem but if it sits for and hour or so it will get stuck either in the grey screen or blue screen. I also pushed the smu button but didnt work. Please help? Thank you.

For this type of question, we need to know which iMac you have. This forum covers G3, G4, and G5 iMacs that have different hardware, and any recommendations are better handled if people know which you have. For starters, do "About this Mac" from your Apple menu and look at teh processor type.
You also need to tell us the version of the Mac OS you have, also avaiabe from "About this Mac.
If the processor type says "Intel," you have a newer iMac that this forum covers and should report in the area for current iMacs here:

  • Listener service not start automatically after reboot in Win2K server Clust

    Hi all,
I set up a two node Server Cluster with Microsoft Windows 2000 server cluster service. Hardware are two HP DL380 servers and HP MSA500 (the shared storage). The cluster's IP address is 10.1.241.65. When I shut down both servers and restart the primary server, the listener server service will not start automatically. The listener log is:
    Started with pid=1108
    Error listening on: (DESCRIPTION=(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCP)(HOST=10.1.241.65)(PORT=1521)))
TNS-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
    TNS-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error
TNS-00515: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist
32-bit Windows Error: 49: Unknown error
The service is set up automatically start. I suspect the cluster virtual IP is not available immediately after reboot. So I tried setting the Recovery after first failure and second failure to 3 minitues each, and setting up Dependencies of the listener on the cluster service in the Win2K Service panel. Neither worked.
The service can be manually start.
    Any suggestion?
    Frank.

The command to start automatically the listener is :
    lsnrctl start
check the parameters in : <ORACLE_HOME>/network/admin/listener.ora
check the IP address or host name

  • Oracle does not start automaticly after reboot

    I've installed O 9i on win2ksrv after installing DB2.
Then I create a database and this db starts successfully.
After reboot the database is shutdown and can only starts manually by sysdba.

    Hi,
Have you checked the space of ORAARCH or SAPARCH folder/directory ? The problem may be "Archive destination full".  If its full then try to move some old Offline redo log file to other safe location as a backup and then try to restart the Oracle Instance again.

  • Ovs-agent starts automatically after reboot but hostname isnt resolvable

    Hello Guys,
the theme is the problem. After rebooting a server the ovs-agent starts automatically but the DNS-Name of the SR isnt resolvable.
If I restart the agent by hand everything works fine. I checked the /etc/init.d, where its installed and the rc3.d. ovs-agent got S99 - which means, it starts last.
But which service is responsible for DNS? In my eyes the only thing that must be up, is networking, isnt it?
Do you have any hints for me?
    Greetz

Please check your /etc/hosts and make sure that the hostname is on a separate line and not mapped to 127.0.0.1

  • Macbook pro wont start up after trying fsck -y (incorrect block count)

my 2 months macbook pro won't start up after numerous attempts and ive tried fsck -y and it says "incorrect block count for file system.log (it should be 184 instead of 108) help please

it just says start up disk full, its not full however it has at least 10Gb of space left.
Your HD is full!  How large is your HD?  You should never let your hard drive get to where you have only 10-15% of space left.  You need to do some serious housekeeping.  However, you need to get to your desktop to do that.

  • XP wont start up after install in boot camp??? Wont format either?

Can anyone please help.... I am trying to use boot camp to install windows xp and i go through all the steps fine, i partition, and then start the install. It lets me select the partition and then it installs. It restarts then nothing. It wont start up in windows? I dont know what i am doing wrong please help i need this to work asap. Thanks in advance.

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
sounds like you are the 'victim' of the newer XP install CDs which somehow don't give you the chance to reformat the destination partition during the XP install process.
The BootCamp Installation Guide clearly state that you have to reformat the WIndows partition from within the Windows installer.
frederic1943 has posted a workaround to this which can be found in here http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=10179186
    Hope it helps

  • Problem in starting services after rebooting the sap server.

    Hi ,
I got a problem in starting SAP services files in SAP BI system on windows 2003 server. Whenever I reboot the system all sap services failed to start throw a message u201CCould not start SAPBDJ_00 service on local computer. Error 1069: The service did not start due to login failure".
This is the common message for every sap service SAP<SID>_00,SAPOSCOLL,SAPCMSr.01,SAPSMD_98. Until unless I maintain   ./SAPservice<SID> password externally by going through service.msc and g to properties of particular service and g to logon option to maintain password manually to fix this.
./SAPService<SID> user is no locked and password maintained properly also I tried to change the service user to SIDADM user and restarted the server however getting the same problem.
Could not find any fixes in internet so please help me to fix this issue.

  • Since 10.4.9 update: postfix needs to be started manually after reboot

Although mail services are all activated in Server Admin, postfix refuses to start up automatically after a system reboot.
All I need to do, is open a Terminal window and type "postfix start" and all is well.
The problem is, if we have a power outage or something else, then mail reception and sending is off-line until I discover that the server has rebooted itself, and I type in the commands again.
What could prevent postfix from starting up?
    Ronald

    Hi,
below the output of the commands, only the IP address in the range of the netmask was replaced with 12.34.56 and the domain name was replaced with domain.
The only strange thing is this line:
    smtpdclientrestrictions = permit_mynetworks permit
which is the only line in which the parameters are not comma separated.
But why that would stop automatic startup, while manual startup works, is beyond me.
I also should add, I didn't mess with any config files except by proxy of Server Admin, since I'm more than aware of the fragile nature of such software dealing with such alterations.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Indesign CS6 crashes and wont startup again after reboot - iMac

    Hello
I have a strange issue that has started in the last couple of weeks. If i restart or reboot my iMac my indesign will not open again. It tries to start to open ('loading image' appears and icon bounces in the dock) but always fails and gives an error afterwards each time (i will attach).
What i have done so far is the usual deleting of preferences, replacing default file and rebooting the machine again but nothing works.
The only thing that i can do to get it working again is to reinstall indesign from the disk (design & web premium). All other Creative Suite applications don't need reinstalling and work fine.
Has anyone else had this issue and if so how did they fix it as its bit of a pain having to reinstall indesign after each reboot.

Im having issues adding the error log, here is the first bit of it though.....

  • IMac wont start up after upgrade to Mavericks

I installed Mavericks as an upgrade to OS X 10.6.8 on my iMac and with in a half an hour of use my computer froze, I have tried all the normal rebooting techniques but my opening screen still has the vertical green stripes, even after using the disk repair/first aid utility, the iMac freezes without fully booting. the disk repair found no issues and says all is OK.

    Hello Tone56,
It sounds like you are unable to successfully boot your computer after upgrading to Mavericks, and are seeing some graphical anomolies on startup. I recommend starting by resetting your PRAM with this article:
OS X Mavericks: Reset your computer’s PRAM
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ph14222
Note: To print these instructions, open Help Viewer’s Action pop-up menu (looks like a gear), then choose Print.
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Option, Command (⌘), P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on your Mac.
Immediately press and hold the Option-Command-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.Continue holding the keys down until your Mac restarts, and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.
    Then reset your SMC:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht3964
Resetting the SMC for Mac Pro, Intel-based iMac, Intel-based Mac mini, or Intel-based Xserve
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
If the issue persists, try performing a Safe Boot then restart as normal to see if that will allow you to boot normally:
OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1564
    Starting up in Safe Mode
To start up into Safe Mode (to Safe Boot), follow these steps.
Be sure your Mac is shut down.
    Press the power button.
Immediately after you hear the startup tone, hold the Shift key.
The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone, but not before the tone.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple logo and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
After the logo appears, you should see a progress bar during startup. This indicates that your computer is performing a directory check as part of Safe Mode.
To leave Safe Mode, restart your computer without holding any keys during startup.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling
