Wont stay sleeping

Hi all
When i close the lid it enters sleep mode, ca a minute later it wakes up again you can hear the cd drive make sounds and the apple sign on the lid lights up... Then it goes to sleep again.. and wakes up.. etc.. so if i put it into a bag it get VERY warm and the battery runs dead..
The lid closes very tight im pretty sure its a software issue.. but what.. any help appriciated..

Just a few ideas:
Make sure the MBP is actually asleep before moving, it takes a minute or so to go into "Safe Sleep' Not instant like my previous iBook. If moved before 'Safe sleep ' insomnia results.
Turn Off Blue Tooth before sleeping
System Prefs > Keyboard & Mouse > Bluetooth and untick allow Blue tooth devices to wake this computer.
Check security setting > Sharing.

MacPro wont stay sleeping

I cannot get my pro to stay in sleep. This issue started all of a sudden, without any changes on my configuration or programs. What happens is, that when i put it to sleep, it wakes up either right away, or 2 - 10 second later. I tried to remove all external devices, includind mouse and keyboard, and allso shut down all software, but no result. Consol doesent show any indication of a software waking it up. Time machine is not on.
Anyone have any ideas?

This is for a Mac that won't sleep.
Here is Apple's KB article HT1776 with their tips.
Mine follow;
USB devices and hubs often cause Macs to not sleep or wake quickly from sleep (notably HP printers and scanners, HP all in ones, and Cannon scanners). Disconnect all USB except for keyboard and mouse and try. If it sleeps, add one back at a time testing after each one to find the culprit.
If you've set your Mac to receive faxes, it may not be able to sleep. It might also have a damaged preferences file.
If you use your Mac for faxing, open System Preferences. click Print & Fax, click the Faxing tab, and uncheck the Receive Faxes On This Computer box.
If that doesn't work or you've never faxed on your Mac, go to Finder/Hard Drive /Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration and delete the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist and com..apple.AutoWake.plist files (if your Mac asks, type your admin. password).
If the latter file isn't present in the folder, go to user name(probably your name)/Library/Preferences, delete the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file, and reboot your Mac.

By default it gave itself permission to wake up the computer to check if a backup was needed. Do you have this or a similar program installed which has scheduled activities including wake-up permissions as an option?"

tomhorvat adds this; After few days of messing around I found out that I had desktop background (wallpaper) set to change every 1 minute.
After unchecking "Change picture..." in system preferences (under Desktop/Screen saver), my powerbook went to sleep all by itself.
Tristan Currier noticed this; "I have a Canon printer(shared) and my imac would not sleep. I opened up printer/fax in system prefs and noticed it said the printer was in use when it was off. Opened up the printer queue and noticed about 7 pending documents. Deleted them all and now it sleeps.
Check the printer queue!"
Allan Jones says "sometimes there is Network activity: launch System Preferences > Energy Saver > "Options" tab and uncheck "Wake for Ethernet network administrator access."

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings

IMac G5 wont stay asleep

I have just recently restored my iMac and am having the same issue with sleeping as I did last christmas when I got it; It wont stay asleep! I called AppleCare last year and they had me delete some com.autowake. something something in the system folder and I don't remember what it was. Since I don't have AppleCare anymore, I don't know what to do.
Does anyone know how to correct this?

HELP!! MBP wont stay off!

Hi,
My MBP for some reason wont stay off. I shut down, close the lid, go to work and when I come home its asleep! Open the lid and its as if I had just turned it on. I have no idea whats causing this but I do realize it only happens when I leave the power adapter plugged in. If I unplug the adapter in the morning, then plug it in when I get home, it boots up immediately, without me touching the power button. I am sure its not scheduled to come on at anytime. I tried setting the schedule for a weekend and on a week day it came on. Does anyone have any idea why this happens?
I would really appreciate any help.

When you go into the system preferences menu under energy saver, just make sure that when the power adapter is plugged in that you make sure that the check box that says, "put hard disk to sleep when possible," which in fact will put you MBP to sleep instead of shutting it off. Also, make sure that when you hit "shutdown," that you wait until the screen goes black before you close the lid because it will sometimes cause it to stay asleep.

The screen on my macbook pro wont stay at a steady lighting

at random moments the screen saver on my macbook pro wont stay at a steady lightening. From time to time the lighting will turn birght and then it wil dim, randomly.
my first instinct is that someting might be wrong with the hardware, however, i've told to reset my power center.
How do you reset the power center on a macbook pro?

Go to system perferences ,then click display and check if ur on auto ajust brightness this make screens changing due to lighting background,u might want to turn this off,ur decision.......or check ur energy saver beside display u might have very short settings,u can adjust both computer sleep or display sleep or in window u can see say slightly dim the display while on battery power,u might want to put this tick out....u hav selection of choices.....

Wallpaper wont stay set.

I have a late 2011 MBP running ML - system is entirely up to date. i set my wallpaper frm SP and it will stay as long as the comp system is active. The moment the harddrive is set to sleep and completely inactive. I turn the comp back on and the wallpaper is back to "galaxy". Iv removed third party apps but still the wallpaper folder wont stay set? i am rather experienced with my mac so advanced help would be great. thanks:-/

You have a corrupt preference file most likely, see if this can help also install the free OnyX from Macupdate.com and under Verify there is a preference file checker.
The procedure is the same, seek and destroy it, reboot and reset that apps preference, it creates a new files free of the corruption.

Sounds like a hardware failure.
Make an appointment at the genius bar and take it in for them to look at. It will probably need to be replaced.

Screen Cracked and replaced, now phone wont stay on, and now i cant get it to turn back on

about 3 days ago i dropped my phone and the screen cracked. Although it was cracked it still worked fine with no issues and the new ios6 was installed prior to it breaking. I brought it to a iphone repair store where they fixed the screen. After a day i noticed the phone just turned itself off so i put it on the charger and returned and it was working. ever since then it has now shut off randomly for no reason, battery was either fully charged or more than 50%. I hooked it up to my computer to restore it today and it seemed to work for about 3 or 4 hours until it started to turn off on its own. i would restart it and it would work for a shorter and shorter period of time until now it wont stay on at all. i plugged it into the charger and it goes through the apple powerup screen and when it turns on it says searching for network in the top left corner. when i press apps and such it is very laggy and it eventually freezes and the screen fades to black and the cell phone turns off. I cannot get it to stay on now, even when it stays plugged into the charger...HELP PLEASE!!! is this an apple issue or something the repair shop may be responisble for?????

The reapair shop is probably responsible. And now that you took it to a third party and not to apple store, Apple will not touch your phone at all. So you will probaly have to buy a new one or go back to the reapir shop and hope they can fix it.

If you stillhave the problem after restoring the iPod to factory defaults/new iPod you have a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Wifi wont stay on

Is your wireless connection dropping or when you say "wifi wont stay on" do you mean that your wifi connection just completely goes away for periods of time? You may want to contact AT&T by calling them at 1-800-288-2020 and requesting a new gateway if your wireless continues to go away.

First, try powering your iPad off, then turn it back on. Second, plug your iPad into your computer and sync it with iTunes. This will make sure you are up to date and can often resolve quirky issues like you are experiencing.

Airport Icon wont stay turned on..

Hi Guys
For somereasom today, my Airport icon on the top right hand of my screen wont stay illuminated and thus, my internet connection keeps dying.
Its fine on my Macbook Pro but not on my Mac Pro desktop...?
At the moment there is just a blank icon with an explination mark on it - any ideas?

I seem to be having the same problem. We were in Mexico on vacation, and on the second day I was taking some photos near the water with some highways and some water splashed on the camera, but it seems to still be working for the next few hours. When I stop taking pictures and came back to the camera a few hours after, I tried turning it on and the set date and time settings screen was displayed. After I entered the settings, I was able to resume taking pictures. However, when I turned the camera off, then on again, that same screen displayed it again.
The next day, I went to turn on the camera, and the lands would not extend fully and will turn off main extension. When I held down the power button, it would retract back but not all the way. If I hit the playback button, I was only then able to fully close the lens. I'm thinking now in hindsight, I should have not tried to turn it on, and just put it in a bag of rice right away, but it's probably too late for that now, and since I'm thinking the water that got on it was salt water from the ocean, it might have corroded some terminals or some electronics inside, I'm not sure. But I don't think I want to pay $200 for Canon to just look at it, and then come back to me saying they can't fix the camera. The warranty has just run out, and I think I might be better off just buying a new camera.
