Word 2003

Question

My Word 2003 is part of the Office 2003 that includes Internet Explorer and Outlook Express. This is installed on my PC even though I am connected to a network.  When I attempt to "save" a file or "Access" another directory or file, in word
or outlook express, the system will freeze up for 30 - 45 seconds.  If you click it enough time word will say "not responding".  If you wait 30 - 45 seconds it will eventually find the file or the directory but if you click on a file inside that
directory...repeats.  I have done the delete word data registry key and Word opens fine but if you go to save to a directory.....same .. I have tried repair on word and Office.   I checked my computer and can access any directory or file
without delay.  Only in Microsoft Office products (i.e. excel / word / outlook) will it lock up.  It is like it can not find the directory.    I tried to locate the normal.dot but can not find it.  Does anyone have a clue as to
why this would suddenly happen?

Normal.dot location:
For XP: Click
Start -> Run ->In the Open box, type the following text, and then press
ENTER:
%userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates
For vista/7 Click
Start -> In the Start Search box, type the following text, and then press
ENTER:
%userprofile%\appdata\roaming\microsoft\templates
This behavior may occur if the connection to the network location is lost during the time that your Office program is opening the file.

EnableShellDataCaching value to the Microsoft Windows registry.
