Word 2007 compatibility with RoboHelp

Does anyone know if or when RoboHelp for Word will be
compatible with Word 2007? Can you even install RoboHelp X5 on
Office 2007 to use for RoboHelp HTML? I know that WinHelp is
deprecated for Vista. Although we have converted our ongoing
projects to WebHelp, we still have a large number of legacy help
projects that we are not going to convert.
I would like to find out if there will be a patch to make RH
X5 compatible with Office 2007, or if we need to wait until the
next full release of RoboHelp.

RoboHelp HTML without first reinstalling Word 2003, or did Office
2007 just cause the whole program to hang?
I didn't work with RH for about half a year. In this period I
installed a new version of Norton Internet Security 2007 and MS
Office 2007. Initially my whole system hung, but there was a
workaround: let NIS stop scanning office documents on opening in
office.
I also installed IE7 and just a few days ago a friend of mine
reported a serious problem with Macro's in Excel in combination
with IE7.
So when I clicked the RH shortcut the other day and the
system started acting weird I had no idea what could cause the
problem.
The symptoms were this: RH did not open at all. Instead I've
got a dialogue box stating something like 'preparing installation'
with only a cancel button.
After waiting a wile a second dialogue opened stating
something like 'No connection to install server' with a retry and a
cancel button. Pressing the cancel button resulted in disappearing
the second dialogue, but the first remained until rebooting the
system.
Installing a previous version of word (in my case 2003
standard edition and completely stripped) did the trick for me!

  • Word Compatability with RoboHelp X3

What versions of Microsoft Word are compatible with RoboHelp
X3, in terms of converting a Web Help project to printed
documentation? I know at one time it was limited to Word 2000, but
I don't know if it has been expanded to include Word XP.

No. The last version to include Rh for Word was Rh10. Is there a specific reason for wanting to stick with Rh for Word? There is a learning curve with Rh HTML but it shouldn't be too difficult.

  • Word 2007 & Compatibility View

I replaced an old XP laptop with a new Win 7 & am having some problems with Word 2007.
All docs are stored on a Win 2003 server, other clients in office use Win 7 or Vista, but all are using Office 2007.
When a .docx file is opened on new laptop, title bar across the top says 'Compatibility View' & formatting is wrong. I can open same file on any other computer in the office & it looks (& prints) correct & doesn't say anything about compatibility
    view in title bar.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
In addition to Stefan's post, you can also refer to this:
The Office Word title bar displays "[Compatibility Mode]"
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2117661
Compatibility mode was introduced in the 2007 Microsoft Office system to offset compatibility issues between the 2007 Office system and earlier versions of Office. Compatibility mode makes sure that content that is created in the 2007 Office system or in
the 2010 Office system can be converted into a form that earlier versions of Office can use.

  • RoboHelp 8 for Word not installed with RoboHelp HTML?

My workplace just upgraded from RoboHelp Office 5x to RoboHelp 8. Come to find out, *all* that was installed was RoboHelp 8 HTML. The RoboHelp 8 for Word part of the application was not installed.
The department responsible for software installations says that they don't have the RoboHelp 8 Word program--that it didn't come with the RoboHelp download. They are insisting that it's not available, and will probably have to be purchased separately.
Has anyone else installed a volume license from a download?
If so, were the HTML and Word portions of the program both available?
Did both parts of the application install (HTML and Word)?
If one installer was used, was the the RoboHelp 8 for Word portion missing? (I.e., is this a bug?) Or did you get the whole thing?
If more than one installer was used, were the components downloaded in separate installation files? (Could someone have missed an installation file, in other words?)
FYI, please, I don't need all the advantages and reasons why I should use HTML Help or WebHelp instead. I work for a government agency, and need to just generate WinHelp to replace an existing Help file, not make everyone change a whole bunch of stuff to use WebHelp or a CHM file.  I need WinHelp output from Word. And, one more thing: I do not have administrator access on my PC either.
Feedback, experiences, and suggestions welcome. Thanks in advance for your help!
    Di

The licence you bought was for RoboHelp Office which includes both the RoboHelp for Word and RoboHelp HTML applications. Each of these three has it's own installation file so I suspect that they have installed just the RoboHelp HTML application. They should have the details for the RoboHelp for Word application, or better still the RoboHelp Office application which gives you the options of what to install according to your needs.

  • OCS 2007 compatibility with Windows Server 2008 R2 x64

Hi, we have OCS 2007 installed on our Windows 2003 R2 Standard X64 Production Server and are moving to Windows 2008 R2 X64.
I've been looking at a few support articles out there (e.g. http://support2.microsoft.com/kb/982021) and noticed that they're saying it (is) compatible.
I would appreciate a definite answer from you experts out there on this so I'll know definitely if we can proceed with our upgrade or not.

To be clear, if this is OCS 2007 R2, then yes it will run fine on Server 2008 R2.  If it's OCS 2007 (not R2), that would not be supported.

  • RoboHelp X5 and MS Word 2007

    Hi,
I am going to have a new laptop soon. Currently, I am using
RoboHelp X5 and MS Word 2003. I have the option to install MS Word
    2007 on my new laptop.
My question is "Does MS Word 2007 work with RoboHelp X5?"
    Thank you!

    Hi again
Yes, you may open the X5 project in 7. But just to be on the
totally safe side, I'd make a backup copy of your project before
working on it in 7. Also, make sure all patches have been applied
to RoboHelp before attempting to open the older projects.
    Cheers... Rick

  • PDF from Word 2007 ends up with scrambled Chinese characters

I have a problem with PDF files when converted from a Word 2007 document that includes Traditional Chinese characters and I hope someone might be able to help or point me in the right direction. After converting it to PDF via "Create PDF" from the Acrobat toolbar, the Chinese characters are all wrong. It looks like Chinese but none of the characters actually exist, it's all scrambled and useless. Converting English or German text works fine, so far, it's only the Traditional Chinese text that causes problems.
The strange thing is that prior to installing Office 2007, all worked just fine. I could convert Chinese text from Word 2003 without any problems and other than updating to Word 2007, nothing has changed. Any idea where to start trouble shooting and how to fix it? I've already tried re-installing and reparing both Word and Acrobat but no improvement.
OS: WinXP Professional SP3 (English system)
    Adobe: Master Collection CS4 (English)
Acrobat: Acrobat 9 Pro v9.1.3 (English)
PDF Maker: Conversion Settings are set to default "Smallest File Size Web"
    Word: Microsoft Office Word 2007 (12.0.6504.5000) SP2 MSO (12.0.6425.1000)
Note: Using "Save As" and select "PDF or XPS" in Word 2007 works fine, the Chinese characters show up properly in the PDF file but I prefer using the PDF Maker from Acrobat to create my PDF files.

I have found that WORD 2007, particularly with docx files, does some strange things to PDF files that you produce. It seems to break a perfectly good graphic into parts and send the parts to the PDF (not usually a problem unless you zoom in). We have tested with AA8 and AA7 with WORD 2007 and gotten these results. WORD 2003 worked like expected. It is almost as though MS decided to put some hooks in OFFICE 2007 for Acrobat. Normally with Acrobat, the graphics come out as a single graphic as stored in the application.
Glad you got the character issue to work. I use a job.settings file that is distributed by a publisher to get an "optimized" form of product for posting. Of course, optimized is always in the eye of the beholder, but I have been happy with it.

  • Help me stop Word 2007 from crashing with PDFMaker!

I'm running Word 2007 (along with other Office 2007 applications) on a Windows 7, 64-bit computer that I recently migrated to.  Every single time I try to create a pdf of a Word .doc or .docx file, the pdf is created OK but Word crashes.  This is a huge nuisance, as I'd like to be able to keep other Word files open as I pdf the one I'm working on.    I'm up-to-date with the Acrobat version (9.5.1); it's Acrobat Pro.  Plenty of room on the hard drive (500 GB, of which 333 GB is free) and plenty of memory (8GB).
Note I'm able to create pdfs in PowerPoint and Excel without problems using the Acrobat add-in.  I'm also able to create a pdf from a file shown in Windows Explorer by highlighting the file and using the right-click button to choose "Create PDF."
    Any ideas?

I belive this is because technically Adobe is not supporting Windows 64 bit, so all the features we enjoyed in, say Windows XP, are not supported now. This is an ongoing battle with Adobe who apparently has 0 interest or intent in supporting 64 bit. They SAY they support it, but they only mean you can save to PDF. None of the features like hyperlinks, PDF Maker, TOC, shared reviews, etc. are supported. I think they are literally the only company not supporting 64 bit and their only workaround is to now use 64 bit. (Can you tell I am annoyed - I am. It's been over a year battling them and 0 action on their part.)

  • Images lost in converting Word 2007 file to PDF

I have a Word 2007 document (docx), with inserted JPGs.  If the text wrapping of the images is set to anything but "in line with text", the images do not appear in the PDF file created from the docx.  I have tried many different combinations of Acrobat preferences (image compression on or off; standard vs. high quality print; different DPI settings; etc.).  This appears to be a new problem, as I have converted many Word docx's with images to PDFs in the past.  A document that I converted to PDF a year ago no longer converts properly!   I'm running Windows 7 Pro and using Acrobat Pro X.   Office 2007 has SP3 (and I suspect that's the problem).  Has anyone else had the problem, and, if so, found a fix?

    Hi, Bill,
I have the doc/docx converter, though I haven't tested if if gives any different result from letting Word 2003 simply open the docx.   I'm on travel now and can't test this until later.
The doc file looks perfect in Word 2007 on my Win 7 machine.
Printing to Adobe PDF gives the same problem - no images.
Re positioning with reflow:   I'm not sure exactly where you find options termed 'reflow,' but I tried 3 options in Compatibility and Layout (Word options --> Advance --> Compatibility options):
In the menu of Compatibility options: "Lay out this documents as if created in Microsoft Word 2003"
In the sub-menu Layout options: "Use Word 2003 indent rules for text next to wrapped objects"
In Layout options: I turned off the indent rules and chose "Use printer metrics to lay out document" (and I used this with "Create PDF" inside Word 2007 and with print to Adobe PDF)
In all 3 (or, really, 4) cases, the images were lost.  Please let me know if any of these options comprise the reflow options.  Please note also that I'm not trying to print the document, as I think you realize; I want to create email-able PDFs that have positioned images, as I have always been able to do in the past.
If there's not much more to tweak here, I may bit the bullet and do a system restore to pre-SP3 update on Office 2007.   Tedious, but no more tedious than all the things I've tried so far.
         Thanks,  Vince

  • HOW TO OPEN AND SAVE FILES TO/FOR MS-WORD 2007 .docx format

MS-Office 2007 will open .docx files as well as .doc files. Apple's Pages '08 can OPEN MS Word 2007 documents with the new file format ".docx". Pages '08 can not save as ".docx" files, just ".doc" files, but since MS Office 2007 can open these ".doc" without a problem, you should be covered.
    Here is how.
To open: Just double click the file and Apple's Pages '08 will import the file and open it for you to use and modify.
To save and use at your work or school's Windows MS Word 2007: When you are done and ready to save the file, go to FILE in the menu bar in Pages '08 and select EXPORT. Then pick the icon DOC WORD and click NEXT. Then in the SAVE AS box, give it a name and tell where you want to save your file to. Click EXPORT. Export is like Save, as it will now save the file where you told it to save it to. Remember you can use the same name, or give it a new name. Thats it. EASY.
It will save the file in a Windows Word format of ".doc" that MS Word 2007 can open and use.
    Hope this helps people.

Why yes. How did you know that I saw the way, the truth and the light?
I just had so many people ask me how to do this, that I thought I might share it with as many people as I could and help the masses To bad that Apple just did not have it as a simple "Save As:" Maybe in the next update.
