Word 2007 Document Recovery Pane Corrupt

We are using Word 2007 on a Windows 2003 terminal server.
When each one of our users opens word, the document recovery task pane opens with the same five documents. If you try to use the documents or delete them, it gives an error
Error Deleting File or Folder
Cannot delete file: Cannot read form the source file or disk.
How can I get these to not show up for everyone?

Hi,
Thank you for using Word IT Pro Discussions
forum.
The first time that Word is started after a crash, the "Document Recovery" task pane will appear on the left side of the screen.
If you do not want these files shown in the document recovery task pane, click Start, in the Search box, type regedit and press Enter to open registry editor.
Locate the registry subkey:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Terminal Server\Install\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Resiliency
There will be a key called "document recovery". Delete everything in this key. Once everything in this key is deleted, the problem will go away.

  • User is having a save issue with Word 2007 documents created from a template.

I have 1 particular user, out of approx. 30, that is experiencing an intermittent problem when trying to save a Word 2007 document to a network drive.  The particular error is
"Word cannot complete the save due to a file permission error. (xxx.docx)"  CTRL-SHIFT-I Error Code is: 701743
This only happens while he is working in a document created from a template (.dotm) file I made a few months ago.  The problem has never occurred with any other Word docs or Excel, or any of the other users accessing the template to create documents. He
also gets an error message stating
"xxx.docx cannot be found.  Check your spelling, or try a different path."  CTRL-SHIFT-I Error Code is: 200635
But this only occurs when trying to "Save As"  The odd thing is that if he renames the file to something like xxx1.docx, it will allow him to save on the network folder with no issues.  And as mentioned, this is intermittent - he may go weeks without
seeing the message while doing nothing different.
I have tried search for similar issues in the forums but they don't seem to match exactly what is happening to us.  Our 3-man IT department seems to be at a loss and I have had good luck solving other issues in this forum so I thought I would give it
    a try.
    Any ideas would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

  • Acrobat X 10.02 crashes when converting Word 2007 document wiht linked Visio file.

Acrobat X 10.02 crashes when converting Word 2007 document with linked Visio file and causes a C++ runtime error in Word and crashes Word.
To see the behavior create a short Word 2007 document with a linked Visio file (e.g., create a Visio file with one box and text and insert it as a link into a Word docx).
    No problem in Acrobat 9

There may be some of an issue with AA X on this, but part of the blame probably goes to MS also. I would suggest you simply clip the graphic from VISIO as a vector graphic (EMF will be used by default) and not do the link and do not embed the VISIO object. The linking and use of embedded objects in WORD 2007 seems to have been a major problem and is mostly a MS issue.

  • Problems converting Word 2007 document to PDF

    Greetings,
Have a brand new shiny computer with Office 2007 basic (Word 2007, Excel 2007 and Outlook 2007). Comes with Adobe Acrobat Standard. Installed Adobe Acrobat Standard with no errors. Opened a Word 2007 document that has an embedded Excel 2007 spreadsheet (its a document for generating quotes). Word document looks fine in Word. Prints to paper fine as well. Tried Save-As Pdf and the resulting PDF has big black boxes where the spreadsheet should be. Tried printing to the Adobe PDF printer with the same result. Downloaded update for Adobe Acrobat Standard and installed it. Adobe Acrobat Standard is now version 8.1.2. Tried saving as PDF, same problem.
    Word 2007 is (12.0.6015.5000) MSO (12.0.6017.5000)
Adobe Acrobat Standard is ver 8.1.2
    Microsoft Windows XP Pro.
Any ideas on how to fix this ?
    thanks,
    Darryl

    Darryl,
Bill is correct - "Save as PDF" is the Microsoft PDF tool. However, on your Word Save As menu, you should also see Save As > Adobe PDF, which is the one you want. (At least this is how it appears in Word 2007 with Acrobat 8.1.1 installed.) You should also be able to select the Acrobat tab in Word 2007 and select Create PDF.
I tried a test with Acrobat Professional 8.1.1, and the spreadsheet inserted in a Word file shows up just fine in the PDF. I selected "Fully functional PDF" in the Save As dialog box (not "Quick and Simple PDF"). Also, did not create a tagged PDF. Does Acrobat Standard have these options? (Note: The PDF was converted correctly from both a .doc and a .docx file, with an .xls file inserted.)
    Hope this helps. --GMc

  • Word 2007 document to PDF file---how?

I have Windows XP, Word 2007 and Adobe Reader 7.0.
I have prepared some documents for printing and binding. The printer tells me I need to "place your Word 2007 document into a PDF file with fonts embedded." How do I do that?

  • Problem Converting Word 2007 Document to PDF

I am having trouble converting a Word 2007 document to a PDF document.  I have Adobe Acrobat 8 Professional.  I have tried to convert the document using the right-click drop down list as well as converting from within the Word document screen itself.  I get the same results -- no PDF document is converted (or opened in a PDF screen).
When I do the convert from the drop down list or from within the Word document, it gets to the point where it asks me for the name of the new document.  I click save (on the Word document name) and it looks like it is converting, but then the Adobe Acrobat conversion window disappears and no PDF document opens.  I noticed that on the frequently used documents list (from the Windows start button), the new PDF document is listed, but when I click on it, Windows say it cannot find the associated file.  When I look through the list of documents in the folder, the new PDF file is not there either.
I ran the repair program in Adobe Acrobat.  After it was done, I clicked the button not to restart until later.  When that window closed, I heard the windows "gong" sound with a message to reinstall acrobat.  I rebooted and the problem persists.
I also have a Fujitsu Scansnap machine which scans documents to PDF files and that seems to still be working fine, so I know at least part of Acrobat is working fine.
I check the list of disabled add ins in Office and nothing is disabled.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Steve

Open the document in WORD. Select the print menu in WORD (don't know what to call the stupid file icon MS now uses) and select the Adobe PDF printer. See if printing there works.
If the print does work, then skip the next few comments. If it does not, then go back to the print menu and check the print-to-file button and print. You will be asked for a location and file name. Be sure to note where you put the file and change the extension to PS (like filename.ps). Then starte Distiller and open the PS file you created in Distiller (if you forget to change the extension to PS, then it will be a PRN file and just select that one). Check if the PDF is created this time. If not, you should get error messages from Distiller -- copy all of the error message back here for us to see.
If the PDF creation in the last step worked, then open the task list (ctrl-alt-del -- select the task list) and look for AcroTray.exe. If it is not running, then it has probably been deleted from the startup. It is found in the Distiller folder of Acrobat for most versions, but may have moved for your version. In any case, restart it if needed.
As for PDF Maker that you are apparently using, that is a different process. However, check the printing process first and see if you can get it working. If not, PDF Maker will likely not work either. With AA8 and before, PDF Maker was simply a preprocessor for the printer and the selection of a DOC file in Acrobat simply uses PDF Maker to create the PDF. So you have to back out to more basics in creation and be sure those are working before the more advanced technique you are trying to use has any hope.

  • Importing Word 2007  documents: linked images getting duplicated!

If I import a Word 2007 document (.docx) to a page in
Dreamweaver CS4, either by File-> import or drag and drop,
images (in the /web_images folder) for which I have already
inserted hyperlinks in the Word document, are getting duplicated
and the link in the Dreamweaver page now points to the new,
duplicate, image, not the original. For example, an image, say
bike.jpg gets copied to bike_000.jpg and the web page link points
    to /web_images/bike000.jpg.
This is not only clumsy, it is asking for trouble if for any
reason an image needs to be updated or whatever somewhere down the
    road.
I have tried importing with both full and just basic
formatting, but the result is the same. I haven't found anything in
    Dreamweaver preferences about this.
    Any ideas?

    Hi again
    Thanks for the clarification.
Okay, so really what you are doing is identical to clicking File > Import > Word Document, because all you are doing by choosing PDF is pre-selecting PDF as the listed file types. Once you change it to point to Word documents it's no different.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Insert  PDF document into Word 2007 document

I am trying to insert a PDF document into a Word 2007 document and only the first page inserts.  I am desperate to finish this project.  Thanks for any help.

A lot depends on what your end goal is in using the PDF. Without some concept of where you are headed, there is not much more that can be said, other than list a bunch of other ways to interact with WORD.
Yeah, I agree with Bill@VT. More precisely say, if you just need to quote the pdf content, you can just use "snagit" screenshot program to capture desired part of the pdf file as an image then paste into your word document. Usually in this way, there will not any resize or data loss of reuse pdf content into word file.
And of course, if you want to further change or edit the pdf content or seamlessly <link removed>, you just try to convert pdf to word with Adobe Acrobat or other software.

  • Creating a PD file from MS Word (2007) document

I have Adobe Acrobat 8 Pro (as part of CS3) and MS Word 2007 (as part of Office 2007)and have been trying to create a PDF file from a word document.
Here are the steps I have taken:
Open Word document and then click the "Acrobat" Tab.
    Then click "Create PDF" tab
In the dialog box that appears I selected "Fully Fucntional PDF" and clicked OK
I get the following message: "PDFMaker cannot locate the Adobe PDF Printer's printer driver. Please re-install Adobe Acrobat 8.0."
So I re-installed Adobe CS3 (which contains Acrobat 8 Pro). This did not solve the problem.
I repeated the whole process again this time selecting "Quick and simple PDF" and clicked OK. This time a PDF file was created.
My question is - why can't I create a "Fully Functional PDF" file? Is there something wrong or do I need some higher level version of Acrobat?
Looking forward to some advice. Thanks. Alan

Look in the printer list to be sure that the Adobe PDF printer is loaded. Also, go to the Adobe.com>download>updates and download all of the updates for AA8 and install them in order (don't try to skip unless the site says you can). The current version is AA8.1.3. That might solve the problem. It may be that you need at least AA8.1.2 to work properly with WORD 2007. There were a lot of problems with the initial release.

  • Converting excel /word 2007 documents to pdf issue

    Hello,
I am currently using Windows XP Pro SP3 and Office 2007, Adobe 8 Standard version 8.2.2 and Adobe Distiller8.2.2.217.  Sometimes when I try to convert Word or Excel 2007 documents to adobe PDF, it creates just a blank pdf file.  After a reboot, I was able to convert documents to pdf and again creates blank file.  From Word, if I click 'Acrobat' menu and click 'Create PDF' and in the  'Save As' dialog box when "Quick and Simple" is selected instead of 'Fully functional", pdf documents are created (not blank ones).  Unfortunately,  "Quick and Simple" option is not even available in Excel....So, at least twice a day I need to restart PC to convert documents....
Any suggestions / comments greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

No, you'll have to re-create them using JavaScript.

  • Pdfmaker changes my pagination from my Word 2007 document

When I use pdfmaker in Word 2007 it changes the pagination from my Word document.  For example, the first page of my document ends up being 2 pages when I convert the file (text shifts).  If I just do file > print > Adobe PDF, the file looks exactly like the Word document.  The problem with that though is I need my table of contents linked and then I have to do that manually.  I've set my default printer to Adobe PDF, but it still doesn't make a difference.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What version and update of Acrobat? It might be a simple update of Acrobat will do the trick. I am not why PDF Maker would be different, but PDF Maker is no longer a preprocessor for the Adobe PDF printer with AA9. Thus there may indeed be an issue -- probably related to the link embedding. You might try unchecking all of the options in PDF Maker and seeing if you get a good result. If so, then put things back in until it breaks. Not the best solution, but maybe a useful workaround.

  • Word 2007 document presented without editing notes in wors 2013 pro plus

    hi,
A word 2007 edited document which contains editing notes such as specific words in a sentance that are crossed and then the editor inserted his or her words to replace the words that were crossed.
when trying to open the document in word 2007 all is well and the edited document appears with all the editing notes and replaced words.
when opening the same document in word 2013 olny the replaced words appear in each place with no sign on the crossed out words.
is there any way to make word 2013 display the document as in Word 2007 (i.e. with both the crossed words and the words that are written right after those crossed words)?

  • When processing a Microsoft Word 2007 document into PDF format. How do I get the bookmarks to display the Word autonumgl fields

Acrobat pro does not display autonumgl fields in the bookmarks panel. Have you achieve this?

    Hi Leonidas,
The AutoNumLgl field numbers paragraphs for legal and technical publications. This field is considered obsolete but is provided for compatibility with Microsoft Word 2000 and earlier versions.
Microsoft recommends that you use the ListNum field in place of the AutoNumLgl field when using Microsoft Word 2013, Word 2010, Word 2007,  (Ref. Field codes: AutoNumLgl field - Word )
This is a known issue with Acrobat failing to convert the AutoNum fields.
