Word 2013 from PDF issues

Can't edit the docx and it goes from being a 3.2 meg pdf file to a 32 meg docx.
Any ideas?
I can convert using online programs ,no issue.
What's the point of having a pdf converter if I can't edit the document?

Hi,
According to your description, I have some confused about the "3.2 meg pdf file and 32 meg docx". Which you do mean about the "MEG"? Which way do you use to convert the PDF to DOXC file?
As far as I know, we can convert a PDF into a Word document and edit the content in Word 2013:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/word-help/edit-pdf-content-in-word-HA102903948.aspx
On the other hand, we also can use the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) tools that included in Office 2013 to read/edit the PDF content. It is no longer standalone and has been moved into OneNote and to a lesser degree Word.
You can paste images into OneNote then right click and select "Copy Text" into the clipboard. You can then paste it where required. It strips out formatting.

If I misunderstand something, please let me know.
Thanks

  • Converting from Word 2013 to PDF - grey background appears

When converting my document from Word 2013 to pdf, it appears to be on a grey background. Now my images are "sticking" out instead of blending in.
How can I get the background to appear white, as it does on my screen.

Be sure that WORD gets patched too. Often these problems turn out to be OFFICE issues. You might try a sample print to paper to see the issue. Also, AA is at 8.1.6.
There have been several problems folks have had with WORD 2007. The updates help some, but it is almost as though MS put some hooks in WORD 2007 to cross up Acrobat in some cases. I have run PPT documents with earlier versions of WORD and Acrobat with no problem. WORD 2007 would produce a totally different result that was not expected. There are even differences in graphics that you put in a DOC file versus a DOCX file. The latter seems to be doing some strange things to graphics. I would tell you more, but I really try to stay away from WORD unless I need it for compatibility with others.

  • How can I prevent Word 2013  from opening a PDF file to edit it?

As per the title - I create training manuals in MS Word and save as PDF for distribution to clients.
How cna I prevent them from opening and editing them with Word 2013?

You can restrict editing and printing of a PDF document by setting permissions when you create the initial PDF. This can be done as:
    Open Word document to convert.
Go to Acrobat tab on Word ribbon -> Select Preferences button.
On Security tab of the Preferences dialog, tick mark the check box for "Restrict editing and printing of the document. A password will be required in order to change these permission settings."
Specify a password in "Change Permissions Password" tex box.
    Click OK.
Input the password again in the confirmation dialog.
    Go to "Create PDF" button.
The PDF thus created, will have editing restricted. And Word 2013 will not be able to open it.
    Thanks.

  • Can not open Word 2010 docx in Word 2013 from Outlook 2013 mail

    Hello,
I got a mail on outlook with a word 2010 attachment in docx format.
Open this attachment with double click will show only the welcome screen with the text Open in protected mode.
With process monitor I could that word 2013 in an endless loop and tries to create the registry key
    "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Word\Options\Vprsu" in an loop.
The result is always ACCESS DENIED.
When I create this key manually there will be an loop to create the registry key
    "HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\office\15.0\word\options\Assist".
The result is always ACCESS DENIED.
When I create this key manually. Word show the attachment immediatelly.
Closing Word and open the attachment again will delete this registry key and the cycle starts again.
Is there a hotfix available that will repair this?
I think this is an error in word 2013 protected view.
Disabling the protected view will help, but is not an good solution.
    Is there any other workarround?

    Best Regards,
    Dieter

This issue may occur if the default file associations for Word are damaged. You may repair Office 2013 to restore the file associations and check if that helps. Refer to the link below for more information. You may restart
the computer once the repair is done.
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project-help/repair-or-remove-office-HA010357402.aspx
Note: Close all Office applications before you perform the repair.

  • Word 2013 to PDF using print (not enough memory)

Can anyone help? I'm trying to make a PDF from Word 2013. I have disabled the Word PDF add-in (as someone told me that would cause problems with acrobat 11). so I try to PDF from word using PRINT (then choosing Adobe PDF as the printer). But I keep getting a dialogue pop up saying "The is not enough menmory or disk space to repaginate or print this document" - it is not an overly long document (only 40 pages) and contains mostly text. Any help would be appreciated. I cannot seem to find a fix. sometimes it PDFs just a few pages.

Some folks (like myself) have found some problems with the plug-in also. We had a dissertation with many vector graphics and the plugin smoothed all the dashed and dotted lines to be solid and make the graph meaningless. However, the bookmarks and such were still desired. We took the round about way of creating a PDF both ways, then used Replace Pages to insert the printed version into the plugin version that had all the bookmarks. Worked like a charm.
The plugin is supposed to give better performance in the PDF creation of bitmaps, but I have never noticed the difference. There are probably cases where it makes a difference. So sometimes you will have to try both methods or combine them like I did. It should also be noted that the tags that are added by default with the plugin allow for various accessibility features and other options, but they can also bloat the PDF that can be a problem in some cases. So there are pros and cons on the two methods, though Adobe pushes the plugin, but has not addressed some of the problems with the plugin that I have mentioned for vector graphics.

  • Using Acrobat XI MAC, unable to create Word file from PDF. Tried a simple PDF as well as a complex file. Neither can be created.

Using Acrobat XI mac. Why can I not create a Word file from a PDF?  Tried some remedies offered online, i.e. convert to PDF X4:2008 then try to convert to the Word file. No go. Advise.

    Hello,
I have tried 3 PDFs: one with only text -  created in Illustrator(CS5)  and saved as a PDF default, and the second which was a complex form of text and scanned images created in QuarkXpress and saved as a PDF for print purposes. The third file was a simple PDF offered online to solve problem.
Each attempt was to create a Word file. Each received the same error message: Save as failed to process this document. No file was created.
    Thank you in advance.

  • Can't convert an originally Word doc from PDF back to Word

I'm running Windows 7 and MS Office 2010. I edited a 65 pages long doc, which I was recommended to convert to a PDF. Said and done. However now i want to make changes in that doc. I've tried to convert it back to Word but I don't succeed in doing it in spite of all your different advice.
And, as a matter of fact, I'm rather inexperienced in computing.

Hi bernd, I've succeeded in converting from PDF to something - Word perhaps - but it's impossible to edit anything in this converted doc. The cursor just twinkle beside the word I want to edit.

  • How to extract word coordinates from PDF using vc++6.0

In sdk,i just know how to get coordinate from pdf using javascript, and it will be completed use vb.but i dont know how to get the coordinate througt vc++6.0.anyone can help me?
    thank you advance!

PDEWordFinder is the usual method for getting words and co-ordinates.
PDFEdit is not usually used, it is not suitable for getting text.
It is very hard work to make the two worlds work together (e.g. to
    edit text you find).

  • Generate a MS Word report from PDF Form

Is there a way to generate a MS Word file output from the contents of a PDF form?
    Background:
Back in the days when Acrobat Pro was packaged with LiveCycle Design for PDF form development, I created a very extensive document that walked the reader through a series of questions and then gathered the answers into a printable form.
Unfortunately, the new version of Acrobat no longer is integrated with LiveCycle and I need to make updates to the document. LiveCycle only works on Windows machines and since I am on a Mac, it seems that I am left with few options.
What would be the best possible solution is if after the reader entered all of the data in the PDF form, they could click a button and the document would generate a MS Word file with all of the variables and input fields arranged in a meaningful format.
Is there any way to accomplish this in the new Acrobat Pro?

Apparently you had LiveCycle Designer in the past.
Unfortunately, the format of the form field names used by LiveCycle are different than the format used by Acrobat.
You could try exporting the Forms Central form to the PDF format and you might be able to use the form to import the data.

  • How to Open Doc. and Docx. attachments with Word 2013 from Firefox

I just got a new laptop and installed Office 2013. However, when I try to open an attachment from my email or a document from the web, the box comes up that says "What should Firefox do with this file?" I can save the file fine, but when I click "Browse" next to "Open with", Microsoft Word is nowhere to be found. It would be nice to get the document to automatically open in Word. I am not sure if this is the correct place to ask this question, but any help would be appreciated.

Which application opens the file if you double-click such a file in Windows Explorer?
If the default program is Word then Firefox should offer that application as the default.
In the case of an attachment then it may not be likely that the file is send with the correct MIME type for a doc or docx file, but possibly a generic type like "application/octet-stream" that will make Firefox want to save the file.

  • Copying text from Word converted from PDF

How do I copy text from a word file that I converted from a PDF?

It's a kludge, but when I want to make sure that all formatting is removed from the contents of the clipboard, so that I can paste plain text, and the app I'm pasting into doesn't have a "Paste and Match Style" option (or something similar), I open up TextWrangler, paste there, then select all and copy. Now your clipboard contains plain text, no styling, and it'll match the style of the existing text wherever you paste it.

  • Random words disappear from pdf and printed page

I work for a newspaper and we have had an ongoing problem from week to week of random words dropping off pages. It happens with the same font family each time but usually only occurs on one page a week. These fonts are used throughout the entire paper and has no problems in other places. The problem seems totally random. I usually send groups of pages (about 25)and the printer then extracts the pages.
They say the words sometimes drop off when the pages are extracted in acrobat.
I'm using indesign cs6, with the default "high quality print" setting. The font in question is the Knockout family from the Hoefler foundry. It is open type.
Does anyone have a solution for this? We had an entire headline drop off last week resulting in the printer having to reprint the entire paper... Not so good.
I have tried reinstalling the font but it has not helped.

Yes I export directly from InDesign and then send the files via FTP after that. Once they receive the files, they they use the Document/Extract tool within Acrobat to separate the files. Apparently this is when they find that letters on the page have been replaced by X'd out boxes.
Their fix is to open the orignal set of pages in Photoshop and rasterize the problem page. I would rather they don't do this so that we don't lose quality. Also, when fonts drop from the page, they can be easily overlooked by an unattentive printer.
    Thanks for your help!
