Word 2013 - Template Name length limited?

Hello,
we have templates with a name lenght by 24 characters.
In Word 2013 in the Templates selection view I see that the name is cutted after 19 characters.
How can I set the name length view of templates?
BR,
David
David Strutzenberger

Hello David,
I know of no way to change this in the Word 2013 File > New display. Someone else may.
Consider using the Classic FileNew dialog from earlier versions of Word which will allow you to see full names and will also allow viewing of more templates (does not use the large icons).
The following link explains what this dialog is and shows how to get it in Word 2013.

  • Font name length limitation...

    Hello all,
    I have a serious problem related with .PFB font files. Is there any relation between font name length; I checked and if font name length is more than 30 characters I am getting an error that "the requested file C:\....\....Pfm,C:\....\....Pfb was not a valid font file". Although I am using the same way to install all fonts.
    Please help me and give me any solution. Please let me know if there any limitation with windows XP, or its a limitation of Type 1 fonts.
    Thanks in advance and pardon my English.
    Thanks........

    I believe the answer is "both" for practical purposes. Although, my recollection would have been that the limit was 31 characters, not 30.

  • Object names length limitation

    Hello!
    As far as I know there is length limit 30 bytes for object names

    Does anybody know it is possible to increase this limit?
    Thanks

    Hello,
    I found an interesting link in OTN Documentation.
    In the following link you can find documentation about the DB

  • SQL2K to Oracle8i:  Object name length limitation

    It seems that there is a limitation of 30 chars to object names
    such as stored procedure or table name when the oracle model is
    generated. It truncates references to object with name longer
    than 30 char.

    We have DB2 universes with longer columns and they work fine. What version of BusinessObjects are you using?
    You can always update the object definition. The table structure is not that important. Just add the extra (missing) characters into the object (or join) definition and you should be fine.

  • Word 2013 template, a PDF form, and a workflow

    I've asked this elsewhere but understand THIS is the place!
    I’d like to build a form. Then embed that form in a word document. That word document is then converted to PDF to send to the client. Note that the form is static and the word document is not. My hope is that the form will work, capture the data and I can push that data to my CRM and Accounting with little effort.

    I have had the same error - we are behind a webfilter which is very tight
    can you please advise the domains i need to whitelist?

  • How to remove duplicate template names in central admin - Sharepoint 2013

    Hi Guys,
    I can see some duplicate site templates in central admin (SharePoint 2013).
    How can i remove it? Please help me out on this.
    Regards,
    Krishna

    Hello,
    As there are many duplicate templates you could try below two steps.
    1) Find the templates :
    # Find the template name of SharePoint site using PowerShell
    $web = Get-SPweb <Site Url>
    Write-host “Web Template:”
    $web.WebTemplate ” | Web Template ID:”
    $web.WebTemplateId
    $web.Dispose()
    # To get a list of all web templates, use the following PowerShell code
    function Get-SPWebTemplateWithId
         $templates =
    Get-SPWebTemplate | Sort-Object "Name"
         $templates |
    ForEach-Object {
    $templateValues = @{
         "Title" =
    $_.Title
         "Name" =
    $_.Name
         "ID" =
    $_.ID
         "Custom" =
    $_.Custom
         "LocaleId" =
    $_.LocaleId
    New-Object PSObject -Property
    $templateValues | Select @("Name","Title","LocaleId","Custom","ID")
    Get-SPWebTemplateWithId | Format-Table
    2) Remove the ones you want to
    $templateTitle = "TitleOfTemplateToBeZapped"
      $site = Get-SPSite <Site coll url>
      $templates = $site.GetWebTemplates(1033)
    #lcid, 1033 = U.S.    $badTemplate
    = $templates | where { $_.Title
    -eq $templateTitle }
      if ($badTemplate
    -ne $null) {
        # the hidden feature Id is the first part of the template
        #    name for custom web templates
        $id = $badTemplate.Name.substring(0,
    $badTemplate.Name.IndexOf("#"))
        $badId = [System.Guid]($id)
        $site.Features.Remove($badId)
        write-output "Template '$templateTitle' has been removed"
    } else {
        write-output "No template was found with the title of '$templateTitle'"
      $site.Dispose()

    Hi guys,
    We are migrating our Novell NSS Linus File server to Window File server 2008 R2, we do have many directories and files, so of the file names length quite long, is there any tools can be used to identify these files?
    thx

    So you want to validate the file name length in the Novell server?
    If so, I think it is better to post this question in the Novell forum.

  • OPM 10.4.4 not working with Word 2013 (toolbar will not stay on document)!!!!

    I recently upgraded to Microsoft Office 2013 and then was forced to upgrade to OPM 10.4.4 in order for Word 2013 to recognize the OPM Toolbar.  The toolbar in the WORD document does not last (or stay) after closing the document.  Additionally, the TEXT within the document is not present.  If I open the document in Windows explorer, you can see all of the text, but without the OPM toolbar.  We have tried everything to get the toolbar onto the word document and to display the contents within the document.  OPM must recognize the word document at some base level because it is able to complile and build/run the rulebase.  By the way, this occurs within every rule document and every rulebase within WORD 2013.  The BI-Pulisher Add-Ins toolbar also had the same problem when trying to add that into Word 2013, but did manage to get it to stay, but it seems limited from the nice presentation that occurs in 2010 Word documents.  Basically, I believe Word 2013 has issues with OPM specifically and maybe BI-Publisher.

    See OPM 10.4.4 User Guide article Update Oracle Policy Modeling Templates: http://docs.oracle.com/html/E48373_01/toc.htm#Projects and files/Update_OPM_templates.htm
    Open the project in OPM, but leave all the rule documents closed. From within OPM 10.4.4, go to Tools > Update Oracle Policy Modeling Templates.
    The field "Folder containing documents to update" will usually already display the folder path for the Development folder of the project. If it doesn't, browse to it. If you've got your OPA project in the regular default location, it will be something like this: C:\projects\(your project name)\Development  If you've put your OPA project in a different location on your machine, then browse to wherever you put it.
    Leave 'Include sub-folders' and 'Update document styles from template' checked. Click Next, Next, etc. until it's done, then 'Finish'.

  • WORD 2013 Themes

    Why are only a limited amount of themes showing up under the Design Tab of the ribbon?

    Hi,
    Word 2013 provides some default themes for users' convenience, however, we understand it may not meet all users' needs. To have more themes, we can modify existing themes to make your own custom themes. We can start by modifying existing theme
    colors and fonts:
    To create a custom color theme, choose Colors -> Customize Colors. Use the Create New Theme Colors dialog box to pick and choose which colors apply to text or various graphical elements in your document.
    To create a custom font theme, choose Fonts -> Customize Fonts. Use the Create New Theme Fonts dialog box to select fonts — one for the headings and another for the body text.
    In each case, give the new theme a name and save it. You can then choose that theme from the Custom area of either the Colors or Fonts menu.
    When you’re using a set of theme colors, fonts, and graphics styles, you can collect the various elements as a theme: Choose Save Current Theme from the Theme menu, and use the dialog box to give your theme a proper descriptive name and save it. The theme
    you create then appears in the Custom area of the Themes menu.
    Microsoft also provides many online templates, you can search and find the templates from this link below:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/templates/results.aspx?qu=word%202013&avg=zwd&queryid=542b363d%2Dfc17%2D455a%2D9d01%2Dd7b689ce4f14&av=zwd150#
    If you like the theme in one template, for example this one:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-001/templates/ion-design-blank-TC103457711.aspx
    Download and open the template, Choose Save Current Theme as mentioned above, thus the theme in the template will appear in your Custom area.

  • Query Rules - length limitation on query conditions set via powershell

    My current client has 200 custom keywords in SP 2010 which they would like to migrate to SP 2013 query results.  I have powershell scripts to perform the export from SP 2010 and import into one of three SP 2013 environments.
    One limitation I have found in powershell -- that does not happen in the search service application UI! -- is a 100 character length limit on the keywords used for matching query conditions (synonym data in SP 2010).   The keywords can be set through
    the UI without limitation but are limited to 100 characters when using powershell!  It makes no sense!
    I suppose my final update could be done by hand (ugh!) and I would much rather be able to script these updates.
    Any pointers or help?

    Hi grobinson,
    If you used this code line in your Powershell and have the following error:
    [string[]]$QueryRuleTerms=@($QueryRuleConditionTerm)
    Exception calling "CreateKeywordCondition" with "2" argument(s): "The value must be at most 100 characters long.
    Parameter name: Term"
    At line:2 char:1
    + $QueryRuleCondition = $QueryRuleConditions.CreateKeywordCondition($QueryRuleTerm ...
    + ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    + CategoryInfo : NotSpecified: (:) [], MethodInvocationException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : ArgumentOutOfRangeException
    You need to use the following code line with Split() method to add the multiple terms, it will work.
    $QueryRuleConditionTerm = "a1;a10;a100;a101;a102;a103;a104;a105;a106;a11;a12;a13;a14;a15;a16;a17;a18;a19;a2;a20;a21;a22;a23;a24;a25;a26;a27;a28;a29;a3;a30;a31;a32;a33;a34;a35;a36;a37;a38;a39;a4;a40;a41;a42;a43;a44;a45;a46;a47;a48;a49;a5;a50;a51;a52;a53;a54;a55;a56;a57;a58;a59;a6;a60;a61;a62;a63;a64;a65;a66;a67;a68;a69;a7;a70;a71;a72;a73;a74;a75;a76;a77;a78;a79;a8;a80;a81;a82;a83;a84;a85;a86;a87;a88;a89;a9;a90;a91;a92;a93;a94;a95;a96;a97;a98;a99;a991"
    #use the following codeline, it worked for me
    [string[]] $QueryRuleTerms = $QueryRuleConditionTerm.Split(";")
    $QueryRuleConditions = $QueryRule.QueryConditions
    $QueryRuleCondition = $QueryRuleConditions.CreateKeywordCondition($QueryRuleTerms,$true)
    $QuerySourceContextCondition = $QueryRule.CreateSourceContextCondition($ResultSource)
    $QueryRule.Update()

  • Web Service URL length limits, LV2013 vs LV2012

    (* CROSS POST: http://lavag.org/topic/18435-web-service-url-length-limits-lv2013-vs-lv2012/ *)
    (* Please reply in this forum.  I have marked the other thread to put replies here. *)
    Has anyone noticed a reduction to the limit on URL length for Web Services between LV versions 2012 and 2013?
    Under LV2012, a RESTful web service appears to accept URL with lengths at least as long as 4096 characters.  With LV2013, the max URL length appears to be 511 characters for both RESTful and Project Item web services. Unfortunately for me the project I just converted trips over this issue. My goal with posting this query to here is to improve my understanding of this limitation before I decide how best to modify my code.  Certainly using POST rather than GET with a long URL is an option, but again, I'm looking to understand the change in limitation before I choose a solution.
    To illustrate I have attached three mostly identical projects which demonstrate the issue.  In each case the project contains a webservice consisting of a single VI, "ComputeLength", which takes a String as an input parameter and which outputs the length of the string.  The three projects are as follows.
    1. LV2012 RESTful web service.
    2. LV2013 RESTful web service.
    3. LV2013 Project item web service.
    The web service contains a single VI.  For the RESTful examples, the web service is started by selecting Deploy from the Build specification right click menu.  For the Project Item example, the web service is started by selecting Start from the MyComputer/WebService right click menu. The use of this example is demonstrated with the following URL:
    (note that the port is 8080 for the two RESTful examples and is 8001 for the Project item web service if used in Debug mode, which is the default for the above instruction.)
    http://localhost:8080/webservice/computelength?string=1234567890
    And the output looks like this.
    <Response>
    <Terminal>
    <Name>StringLength</Name>
    <Value>10</Value>
    </Terminal>
    </Response>
    To see the issue, extend the string parameter such that the URL contains more than 511 characters beyond the port number.  For example something like this, http://localhost:8080/webservice/computelength?string=1234567890123456789012345678901234567890....(keep repeating)
    For the LV2012 example the string parameter may be at least as long as 4000 characters, which I've demonstrated using Chrome as my browser.  For both of the LV2013 examples the URL is limited to 511 characters after the localhost and the port number.
    Anyone know whether this is a bug or this is an intentional design change?  How about whether the URL length limit is configurable?
    I am also consulting NI tech support and will report back their response.
    Any advice appreciated.
    Thanks,
      Martin

    Solution found.  Apparently starting in LV 2013, there is a default limit of 512 to the URL length.  The default limit may be overridden as described below.
    Martin
    This is Brian in Applications Engineering from National Instruments. I am following up regarding the 511 character limit in your Web Service HTTP request following the port number. After some research I've figured out that the issue is related to a default web server setting called "LimitUri," which limits the maximum length of a URL. The default setting is 512 characters which is why we are seeing this issue.
    There are multiple ways of changing the URL length limit depending on how you are using your web service. If you are publishing the web service using the Application Web Server then modify "C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\Shared\NI WebServer\NIWebAppServer.conf" and add "LimitUri 4096" to the end of the file without the quotes.
    If you are running the Debug Web Server by just clicking start on the web service then modify "C:\Program Files (x86)\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2013\resource\webserver\niwsdebugserver.conf" and add "LimitUri 4096" to the end of the file without the quotes.

  • RH 11 CSS Mapping Styles issue with Word 2013

    Hello members,
    Any help will be much appreciated.
    Platform: Win 7, RH 11, Word 2013 however, using an existing Word Template that was created in Word 2007.
    HISTORY:
    Six months ago, an upgrade of RH8 to RH11 took place (smooth, no issues reported). Please note, I have no "easy" way to verify if there was a problem in RH8 (all projects are upgraded, and old builds are backed up on IT server).
    There are existing Styles created in RH and in the Word Template (e.g., Heading 1, Heading 2, Heading 3, Normal, normal_bold, etc.). These existing Styles have no mapping issues hence, RH CSS recognizes their corresponding Word Styles.
    ISSUE:
    RH11 CSS does not recognize New RH Styles and Word Styles.
    NOTE: Styles are the same type. “For example, character to character, paragraph to paragraph, table to table, and multi-level list to multi-level list” (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/robohelp/robohtml/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d11aff59c2a0-7ee4.ht ml#WS21E2B5E4-C4AC-47b2-9D4B-D548EA9E3C04).
    Things Tried:
    Converted (SaveAs) my template .dot (Word 2007) to ".dotm" (Word 2013) = No change in issue mentioned above.
    What do I see when I create new Styles in RH CSS and Word Template: I am able to map Table and Multi Level List.
    Purpose: Working on a documentation standard project. Creating New Styles ‘based on’ existing styles. For example:
    RH CSS
    ListBullet
    Style: Paragraph
    Formatting: Font =10pt
    Indents: Left = 36pt
    Spacing: Before = 0px
    Paragraph: Alignment = Left
    Indentation: Left = 18pt, Right = 0pt, Special = Hanging (By 18pt)
    Spacing: Before = 6pt, After = 0pt, Line Spacing = Single
    Advanced:
    Word Template (.dot)
    ListBullet
    Style: Paragraph
    Style Properties: Name = ListBullet, Style type = Paragraph, Style based on = Normal, Style for following paragraph = ListBullet
    Formatting: Font = Arial Font style = Regular, Size = 9pt, Font color = Automatic (black), Underline style = none
    Paragraph/Indents & Spacing: Alignment = Left, Outline level = Body Text
    Indentation: Left = 0.25", Right = 0", Special = Hanging (By: 0.25")
    Spacing: Before = 0pt, After = 6pt, Line Spacing = Single, Selected (Don't add space between paragraphs of the same style)
    Paragraph/Line & Page Breaks: Pagination = Window/Orphan control, Tight wrap = None
    Bullet Format: Font = Symbol, Font style = Regular, Size = 9, Font color = no color
    Problem I am having is as follows:
    RH Wizard section - Print Document Appearance
    Project’s CSS Styles (Used Only or All)
    ListBullet
    Microsoft Word Styles (all)
    Unassigned – Use style in project) drop-down list
    The Style “ListBullet” does NOT show in the list
    NOTE: This anomaly I just reported happens for ANY new ‘Paragraph Style’ I create. If I create a List/MultiList, and the names of the Style are the same in RH and Word, RH Wizard automatically maps them. However, reading on multiple forums, authors have reported problems with Indentations (i.e., Word over extends the indentations); I have see this as well.
    PS - Happy Holidays to you and your families. My Best, ~PM
    PSS - Hi Peter ... I reviewed your site and this site, and Googled as well before posting.

    Thank you Peter and Amebr for your assistance. I ended up using RH Multilevel List Style, configured, and created an identical List Style in Word. I created a Single and a Multilevel (e.g., Level = bullet, Level 2 = squares); their challenge is matching RH indents with Word Indents... It's sort of a bear since RH does not have the Format Paragraph option (ref. drop-down) like Word Lists -  Numbering functionality.
    After generating my print document mu Bullet style reads "Normal (Web)"; even though the RH CSS Wizard recognized Word List Style I created (Ref. Font: Symbol, Font color: Black, Indent: Left: 0.15", Hanging: 0.25", Outline numbered + Level: 1 +, Numbering Style: Bullet + Aligned at: 0.15" + Indent at:  0.4", Priority: 100, Based on: No List.
    Question: Would anyone out there know why is when I highlight my bullet list to verify the correct Style (with the Styles pane open) and I see the "Normal (Web)" [its Style type = Paragraph and Style based on = Normal) is selected? If it came through (from Rh) as a true Multilevel List Style, I should not see anything.
    Happy Holidays!
    ~PM

  • Autocorrect right-click options in Word 2013

    I don't know where else to provide this feedback.
    Office team - can you please add the Autocorrect options back into the context-sensitive right-click menu on a spelling mistake in Word.  I use these
    all the time every day and its a PIA to not have them there.
    Thanks for your time to hear some feedback on how to make Word better (again).
    G.

    So here's a way to voice your displeasure to Microsoft on this change in Office 2013 (if you are comfortable making changes to your Registry):
      1. Start/Run --> Regedit
      2. Expand the following key:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\Feedback
                a. If there is a DWORD key for
    Enabled,
                         * Change the value to "1"
                         * Close regedit and re-launch Word.
                         * Jump to Step 3.
                b. If there is no DWORD key for
    Enabled
                         * Right-click in the right-window pane (under the Feedback folder)
                         * Select
    New --> DWORD (32-bit) Value
                         * Name the DWORD
    Enabled and press [Enter]
                         * Set the value to 1.
                         * Close regedit and re-launch Word.
      3. When Word opens, you’ll have a smiley emoticon in the top right hand corner of your screen, click it.
      4. You’ll be given the option to “Send a smile” or “Send a frown”…one guess which version this forum will send lol
      5. Click the option that pertains to your desired feedback (or submit feedback via both options so they get it either way…).
      6. Fill out the form at your discretion; word of thought: be critical but not mean and dismissive, there is a difference. (Exa: Please provide an update that brings back the right-click context menu for the Autocorrect side-scroll dropdown list. If
    not by default, at least allow it to be a selectable option within the File/Options menu.)
      7. I’ve attached a “screenshot” below (if it doesn't get screened out) that you can open in the background and have that be your “screenshot” view if you want to send that to Microsoft with your feedback (or create/edit your own as you see fit).
      8. Also, if you want to “fix it” yourself like you see in my attached screenshot, search this forum post for a reply by “Greg Maxey”. He created a workaround that when you copy it to the Word startup folder
    (C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Word\STARTUP), it will re-enable the feature. His template addendum can be found here:
    http://gregmaxey.mvps.org/word_tip_resources/Add%20AutoCorrect%20to%20Word%202013%20Spelling%20Shortcut%20Menu.dotm
    It
    just needs to be copied to the folder mentioned above and when you restart Word 2013, the option is available again.

  • Office 2013 - Templates contacting MS Server

    Dear Community,
    I've installed Office 2013 Std. on one of our Windows 7 (32 bit) without Office templates. But when I start Word or Excel, the system is always asking for a username & password. This message popups, because our proxy is blocking the connection to: office15client.microsoft.com
    We won't allow the access to that and what I don't understand is: we installed without templates, but Office 2013 wants to connect to the internet. Has anyone an idea how to disable that?
    Thanks for helping/discussing.

    Hi,
    How did you install Office 2013 without templates?  Based on my test, only Access and Outlook have templates in the installation.
    And try to uncheck File>options>trust center>trust options>privacy> "Allow office to connect to the internet" option in Excel 2013 and Word 2013 to check the issue.
