Word 2013 with text in front of a shape not converting to PDF with Acrobat XI

Hello,
I have a Word 2013 document with Shapes (Insert > Shapes) in the background.  Text is in front of the shape, shapes are set behind the text.  I take the document to work where I have Win7, Word 2010 and Acrobat X Pro and it converts perfectly, with the text in front of the shape.  No problem. When I get home, it doesn't work.  At home I have Win7 64-bit, Word 2013 (x64) and Acrobat XI Pro (latest everything, all patches up to date) and when I create a PDF either through Word, right-clicking on the doc and choosing convert, or from Acrobat XI it doesn't display the text.  I get the shape, and it looks like can even highlight the text, but the text doesn't appear.
I just completely uninstalled both Acrobat XI and Acrobat Reader XI and then ran the latest Acrobat Cleaner (R2) and cleaned up both Acrobat and Reader.  Rebooted, installed Acrobat XI (no reader), updated with all the latest patches.  Still, the same problem with everything set to default.
Please explain how to make my life better.
Thanks,
Chris.

Found the problem.
Adobe, I found a BUG. I want a year of cookies.  Not the virtual type, I want real cookies.  Chocolate.  Maple.
Word 2013 ...
Create a doc and put some sort of FIELD in the footer.  I used STYLEREF and choose a Style.  That's a very common thing to do for keeping the title of your document in the footer.
Now ... insert a SHAPE.  Make that shape sit BEHIND the text.
DONE.
Create your PDF.  The text won't be visible.
BUG.
Cookies.

I created a 5x7 postcard document in Word with text boxes and graphics.  When I converted it to PDF, some of the items were missing, even though they were in the boundaries of the page and looked fine on the Word document.  What happened, and how do I fix it?  I'm trying to upload the PDF version to Vistaprint.  Thanks.

Reader doesn’t create pdf files. You can use Acrobat (ask in that forum) to create pdfs. You can subscribe to the Adobe PDF Pack which has a create pdf functionality (please ask in that forum), or you can use a third party utility such as ghostscript, cutepdf, or Microsoft’s own PDF creation capability. For third party pdf creation you will need to ask in a forum dedicated to that software as fellow users of Reader are unlikely to have the knowledge to help.

  • Word objects will not convert to pdf

Hi. I have had this issue for some time. So, I went with the Acrobat 9 Pro edition and the same issues are occurring. Ok, here is the problem:
When I convert a Word document with text and an object, image or graphic to a pdf document, only the text converts. In other words, I get a pdf document with the object, image or graphic missing. This also applies to text boxes. These also do not show up in the converted pdf.
I have tried to find a setting in preferences to address this but continually have had no luck.
    Please help with this issue.
    Much thanks in advance,
    Jamie

How are you converting? What version of WORD? The key issues you have left out.

  • What to do when file will not convert a PDF to Word "properly"?

Is there anything I can do when a file will not convert from PDF to Word (for editing purposes)?
It converted some of it fine, but most of it is converted into symbols and letters of some text has been changed.

    Hi Michelle ,
You can simply edit that file in Acrobat itself .
Or if you could brief us little more about your requirements ,we would be able to assist you intelligently .

  • I have payed for Adobe acrobat pro but now i can not convert a pdf document to a word format, why?

I have payed for Adobe acrobat pro for one year and it is valid to november 2015, but now i can not convert a pdf document to a word format, why ?

    Hi m_karhulinna,
If you have Acrobat Pro, you can save directly to Word format from within Acrobat by choosing File > Save as Other > Microsoft Word > Word Document.
(It sounds like you may be trying to use the ExportPDF online service, which is separate from Acrobat, and not necessary in your case.)

    Hi Brian,
You can create it in Word or excel and then you can Convert it into .pdf Format
Here's a feature list that depicts benefits of PDF pack: Convert Word to PDF, Convert PDF to Word & Merge PDFs | Adobe PDF Pack

Hi Bill -- thanks for your reply!
When I check the Document Properties on Acrobat I can see that the fonts used in the document (Cambria, Times and Windings) are listed as "Embedded Subset" in the Fonts panel. The machine it was created on did use an earlier version of OS X and an old version of Word, but it seems to have the proper fonts...

  • Word 2013: No Text Zoom Option with Comments

I'm trying to read my document that has had comments added to it. I need to zoom b/c the text of both the document and the comments are too small. But the zoom does not apply to the doc or the comments.
Is there some way to export the comments into a separate document so I can at least zoom them there?  Something else?
Word 2013 -- The notion we only get to read 1 paragraph at a time is absurd and counter-productive.

Please note that MSDN forums target programming questions developers have when writing code using Microsoft products. Your issue falls into the category end-user, so you're less likely to find people who work with Word the way you do in the MSDN forums.

  • Acrobat Pro XI is not recognizing Word 2013 files when I try to combine files in a single PDF. Please help.

I recently upgraded to Office 2013. Everything seems to be working fine with Acrobat Pro XI, except when I try to combine Word 2013 files into a single PDF, I get this message: "Acrobat does not support the conversion of one or more of your files to PDF. . . ." Please help. Thanks.

I've opened both Word and Excel. The Acrobat ribbon is showing in both programs and I did some test things and they seem to be working fine. However,  I still cannot see or use formats other than pdf in the Acrobat Pro program. Is there another setting that needs to be adjusted?

  • Ctxhx will not convert Word97 docs with embedded autotext

Manual execution of ctxhx.exe on Sun w/8.1.6.2 and NT 8.1.6 fails to convert Word97 documents with embedded autotext (autotext that contains autotext). It will start to create the html file but terminates and deletes the html file when it hits the footer section that contains the autotext. Remove the offending autotext from the document (not an option of course) and it runs like a champ. Inso's web site has a sample utility to convert and display docs. It successfully converts, but I assume it is much newer than what Oracle has integrated. I have added a clob, converted and loaded the docs as text as a bandaid...not an option for much longer. Any insight?

I suspect you need Word, not Word Starter. Never seen it mentioned before. But you can print to Adobe PDF from Word Starter to convert each file.

  • I just purchased Adobe and it converted my pdf with symbols, spaces, and blank "context Not readable"

    Hello,
I purchased abode and it isn't converting my pdf into Word. It made gaps, symbols, columns bleed into the other column, and some blank context. I thought acrobat was included. Here is an example below. Let me know if this will be fixed? I don't want to pay for something that isn't working correctly.

  • Links in Word do not convert to PDF

I have a word document I created in Word 2008 with a lot of links. When I convert it to PDF (Print, Save as PDF), the links do not work in the conversion to PDF - Adobe Acrobat.
I can't figure out what the problem is and I have a ton of similar files to convert.
Does anyone know how to fix the problem?
    Thanks

Yes and you keep rubing it in. ;-)
It just sufficient enough to say its not in Mac Version.
You don't have to sound proud of the fact. Or appear to be thumbing your nose at Mac Users about it. We have it tough enough, and no amount of complaining to adobe and other software companies does any good. Until Mac users turn out to 50.1% of the market share will anything change. :-(

  • Will not convert a PDF file to Word

Since Wednesday, 12/10, I have not been able to convert a PDF file to Word.  We have a paid subscription to do that and it looks like our account is active and in good standing.  This is very frustrating.  Who do I contact for technical support.

Sorry, not sure what that means.  Do you mean to convert on the website?  If that is so, it won't convert there either - as I tried this morning.
If mean something else, please forward the website address.
