Word Add in disappears after computer restart

We are using Office 2007. The BI publisher word tab add in disappears after reboot. When we try to re-install the control panel has the option to repair which indicates that it is still installed. Any ideas on what causes this? Thanks.

#2 - No, the other add-ins stay, it's just this one.
Just to clarify my original question - wasn't asking if the other addins stay but specifically if the machine in question is "identical" in terms of what is installed etc
There is a known issue where Outlook addins will get disabled if the addin exceeds some Outlook load threshold time so if you have 5-6 other machines that work without any problems, logic would dictate that there is some difference (however subtle) between
the machines that work and the one that doesn't. Have no idea personally what that might be (i.e. if everything else is supposedly the same, is the problem machine as fast as the others in terms of processing power & memory etc).  Not likely
that this is first time the ZixCorp folks would have heard about it (mind you - there is a "first time" for everything for any issue reported to a company so the questions I've asked about similarities would also likely be asked by them.

  • NoScript add-on disappeared after a restart of browser.

Last time I restarted my Firefox I noticed something untypical and strange. The last automatic update of the browser to version 34.0.5 was 9. DEC. From that time (after the update) I probably didn't restart Firefox or maybe I did it only once because I can remember a hint about tracking which I saw for the first time.
Anyway, recently I had to close the browser (done correctly) and when in few hours I launched it again (no reboot of PC in the meantime) I noticed that there is no the NoScript's button. Moreover it seemed like there is actually no NoScript installed - I checked add-on's list, about:support page and extensions directory - there was even no xpi file of the add-on inside.
I checked my backup of files from the day before and the file of NoScript was situated in the extensions directory. Moreover I have a screenshot got the same day in which the button is seen yet.
I copied the backed up xpi file into extensions directory and after the next restart Firefox asked me about installation of add-on from file which was found so I've got my NoScript back, but in fact when I launched Firefox the first or second time after update the NoScript disappeared.
How can it be possible? What would happened? Are there any similar cases reported and known or is this a kind of explainable bug?
I mark that I've got always a lot of tabs opened, but there was no such a problems before. And surely I'm aware that Firefox can check the add-ons and disable some of them during update process but in my case the add-on was completely removed without any warnings. The rest of few (most popular) add-ons I've got survived ;).
Firefox version is 34.0.5. NoScript version is 2.6.9.6. The system is Windows Vista.

These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox

  • Reminders disappear after computer restart.

I've just started to use iCal instead of Entourage for my calendar.
I have several notifications for upcoming appointments in iCal. They appeared earlier on my desktop as intended.
However, when I restarted my computer the notifications are no longer there. They should remain until I dismiss them.
    Any ideas?

  • FontBook does not keep settings after computer restart

I have thousands of fonts on my HD folder, and a standards set of System and Library fonts. Any time I disactivate and acivate certain font families, my FontBook keeps these settings (for activation and disactivation) ONLY UNTILL next computer restart cycle.
After restart, when I load my FontBook application to check my fonts settings (for to make the fonts I set previously working again), Fontbook starts activating all my thousands fonts in my custom library, taking munites of waiting for a spinning wheel. I also do not see (off) signs for fonts diactivated during previous session. I see lots of duplicate font warning because Font Book is auto-activate all.
Consiquently, I have to reppeat all the process of activation/disactivation and to help my computer working with less fonts load and resolve duplicates.
So, why Font Book does not keep setting for fonts activation/disactivation in a custom library after computer restart?

  • Calendar items get deleted after computer restart

Hi, I keep having this problem of my calendar items getting deleted/cleared after I restart my computer. Basically, I sync my handheld on two computers, one is work PC and the other my home PC. Changes are done on both PCs. I modify items on my work PC then sync with the handheld. When I get home, mostly during weekends, I also sync my handheld with my home PC. No modifications are done on the handheld. These past few days, I just noticed my calendar items in the Palm Desktop that the items I added/modified a day ago is no longer there. I have already lost a couple of appointments because of this. Please help.

With Palm desktop 6.2 there is an issue with losing data but it is mostly seen on Vista systems. This issue has been escalated to Palm Engineering.
When you shutdown your PC, do you close Palm desktop or leave it open? We have seen leaving Palm desktop open, when the PC is shut down, to cause data loss. Another cause of data loss can happen by having Palm desktop open when a Windows update occurs. If you are not using Palm desktop, close it.
Here is a procedure for recovering the data.
You can recover the data from your user folder provided you have only sync'ed once with the PC when you discovered the data missing. When you sync to the PC there are files created for each PIM category in your user folder. For Example; datebook.dat or datebook (Depending on the version of Palm Desktop) and datebook.bak. Using Palm Desktop version 6.2 the file names are .mdb and mdb.bak. For 6.2, the files are located in the username folder in PalmOSdesktop in my documents.
The files are named .dat and .bak. When you sync, the current data is stored in .dat. The next time you sync the data in the .dat file is copied to the .bak file. You can rename the .dat to .old. then rename the .bak to .dat. If the data in the .bak file is intact, it will now be in Palm desktop when you reopen Palm desktop. I have included a link to show you how to find the userfolder on the PC.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=26674
    Here is another link regarding data loss;
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=39503
The best way to backup your data is to use the export feature in Palm Desktop. Make a new folder on the PC desktop named Palm Desktop Backup data. Next, select the category you want to export. You will get a window that asks where you want to save the file, save in the folder created on the desktop. There is a button that allows you to select currently selected record or all, select all. If you don't select all, then only the record highlighted is exported. You will then need to name the file for export, I suggest the name of the category, eg: datebook (With current date). Do this for all critical data in each category. With the data exported to the folder on the PC desktop, you can save this data to a flash drive, external hard drive or a CD-RW. With this method you will have your data in a seperate place than Palm desktop and the device. If you "Lose" data again, you can import the data back into palm desktop.
Make sure that when you make changes in palm desktop or the device to export the data to the folder created for the backup.
    Here is a link for other options for backing up your data;
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28751
Here is a procedure for backing up your data for disaster recovery, like this situation.
The best way to preserve your data is to export the data in each category in Palm Desktop to a seperate folder on your PC.
Create a new folder on your PC somewhere that is convenient. Name it something like Palm Desktop Data. Click on the link below and follow the instructions on that page for the export procedure.
    http://www.palm.com/cgi-bin/cso_kbURL.cgi?ID=28734
Make sure you select all for the range in the export window.
With the data saved in the folder you created, make a copy of that folder and save to a flash drive, cd-rw or external hard drive.
Anytime you make a change in Palm Desktop, export the data that was changed to that folder and save again to the external media.
With this process you can always import the data back into Palm Desktop anytime you have a problem with the data in Palm Desktop or if your computer/hard drive/device crashes.

  • How Do I Correct FF GUI From Not Opening After Computer Restart

Every time I restart my Win8 and then FF, the FF GUI does not open (i.e. the browser window does not appear) although Task M shows FF as running. Only work around so far is to re-install FF (obviously using another browser to access the download install site). I tried disabling all add-ins and this had no affect. Even if I exit FF before restarting the computer, the same issue occurs. If I exit FF but do not restart the computer, FF will re-start normally, meaning the browser window appears.
This started occurring a couple of weeks ago. At that time I did a System Restore back to a point before it started happening and that did not correct the issue.
I also uninstalled FF keeping my settings but the issue remained when I re-installed FF. I even went to the extreme of uninstalling and not keeping my settings and then reinstalling and adding my add-ins and setting my options (a couple hours of work) and the issue still remained.
Once it is open I see no problems with it or any add-ins.

    Hi,
From your issue description I understand that, you are unable to open any applications and the computer freezes.
I can imagine the inconvenience you have experienced. Don’t worry; we will certainly help you.
I would appreciate if you could answer the following question:
    1. What is the make and model of your computer?
    2. Did you receive the windows 8 preinstalled with the computer?
    3. What happens when you try to perform Refresh or Reset? Do you receive nay error messages?
Let’s try some steps before performing Refresh or Reset.
Follow these methods and check if it fixes the issue.
Method 1: Run the Performance troubleshooter and check if the issue persists.
Follow the steps to run the troubleshooter:
    a. Press Windows key + C on your keyboard to show the Charms bar.
    b. Type Troubleshooting and click Troubleshooting under Settings.
    c. Now type Performance Troubleshooter in the search option.
    d. Click on Performance troubleshooter to run the troubleshooter.
Method 2: Start your computer in safe mode and check if the computer freezes.
Step 1: Refer this link to start the computer in safe mode.
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-including-safe-mode
If it works fine in safe mode, perform clean boot.
    Step 2: Perform clean boot.
Clean boot will help us identify if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue.
To do this, follow steps from this link:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
NOTE: After checking the functionality in clean boot, configure Windows to use Normal startup. Refer step 3 from the above link for details.
Method 3: Restore your PC to an earlier point in time.
    a. Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search.
    b. (If you're using a mouse, point to the upper-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer down, and then click Search.) Enter Recovery in the search box, tap or click Settings, and then tap or click Recovery.
    c. Tap or click Open System Restore, and follow the prompts.
To perform refresh, or reset, refer to this link: How to restore, refresh, or reset your PC
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows-8/restore-refresh-reset-pc
Refresh Warning: The apps that came with your PC or you installed from Windows Store will be reinstalled, but any apps you installed from other websites and DVDs will be removed. Windows puts a list of the removed apps on your desktop after refreshing your PC.
Reset Warning: All of your personal files will be deleted and your settings will be reset. Any apps the came with your PC will be reinstalled, but all other apps will be removed.
Hope this helps. If the issue persists or any Windows related queries or issues related to Windows Operating system, please get back to us. We are here to assist you.

  • How to prevent display color option settings from disappearing after a restart of Firefox?

I like to display specific text, background and link colors overriding pages' defaults; that info disappears almost after every Firefox restart. These settings are set in: Firefox>Options>Options>Content>Colors and having to reset them almost every time I start F is a pain.
An ideal solution would be to allow a user to save their color picks as a separate "theme". I would then prefer to have 3 such saved themes that would be easy to switch at a push of a button:
    1. Light text on dark background (dark screen, less contrast) for a dark room;
    2. Lighter text on dark background (dark screen, more contrast) for a bright room;
    3. Firefox default.
Finally, replacing a color palate with few colors with a color wheel from OS would be ideal and relatively simple to implement.
This may or may not be related but preferred magnification of text on each individual page is also often lost (reset to default).

See if the following article helps.

Overriding web site colors may not be good idea because it also gets rid of background images. Some sites set background images for certain web page elements to display information that's crucial to using the site (like text for buttons).
You can use the Stylish add-on to manage user styles that change the appearance of web pages in various ways. You can click the Stylish toolbar icon and enable or disable styles that are applied to the current page.

  • Bluetooth disappeared after a restart...Says theres no hardware. MacBook UB

    Hi guys,
I am new to Mac, and this MacBook is my first one to own. I recently had to hold down the power button, because my computer would not respond, or wake from the screen saver. When I turned it back on, the Bluetooth icon in my menu bar, was gone, and so was the System Preferences pane. Do you guys have any idea what happened? I also searched in Spotlight Bluetooth, and opened Bluetooth Explorer. It said there was no Bluetoth hardware... I recently have installed the iPhone 2.0 free SDK, if that helps. I do have regular Time Machine backups to a USB external drive. Thanks for anything, Ryan.

Thanks for the solution My bluetooth works after trashing my plist and resetting the PRAM.
However, it is only a temporary one. Every time I close my MacBook lid to put it to sleep it does not wake up at all. I have to force shutdown by holding on to the power button for a few seconds and restart.
Upon restart, my bluetooth disappears again. This happens every time I put my MacBook to sleep by closing the lid. I am lost as to why this is happening.
Now I have to shutdown completely all the time. Hopefully the bluetooth issue will not crop up again. But Apple should do something about this problem soon.
    Thanks again.

  • How to fix problem with installed and working add-ons disappearing after update to 20.0.1?

I updated to version 20.0.1 of Firefox the other day. I had the theme Qute 3++ 1.19 installed and it took 3 restarts of the browser before it kicked in and worked again, for some reason.
Then I noticed that my MillBar Community toolbar 3.18.0.7 had disappeared, which I use for the feature of collecting my email accounts to get fast notifications about new emails. Also my Adblock Plus 2.2.3 seems to not be working because all of a sudden I see ads everywhere and I also discovered a bunch of pop-ups from nowhere. I used these add-ons for such a long time that I was shocked.
When i went to type a message to a friend, I also noticed that my american-english dictionary/spellchecker was not working.
The first thing I checked was that none of these add-ons was inactivated or said to need updates. The dictionary had disappeared, so i re-installed that. I also reinstalled Adblock Plus. Still it doesn't work.
When i entered the email information into the toolbar options, it collects my emails for a while, but suddenly it stops and the information is not there anymore. If I restart the browser it also disappears.
Same thing with the dictionary. it works for a while, and then suddenly it's like it's disabled.
And the add-ons are still in what seems like working conditions in my lists. No errors that I can see, no updates available.
I'm really at a loss as to what to do, I've never had problems like this before that couldn't be solved with an update of the add-on. So I'd be very grateful for help with this and hope that I have provided enough information.

    this help is not useful.
Since the new firefox version 20.0.1, '''no more of my add-ons work''' (except firebug ). They are installed '''but not visible '''(no toolbar, no menus) !!! same for the new add - ons that I installed. I tried everything: to reinstall add-on, to reinstall firefox.
this new version of firefox is really horrible, '''thank you for making a corrective because I cannot work any more with'''

  • Nano only recognized by iTunes after computer restart(with nano connected)

My brand new Nano just wouldn't connect to iTunes. I tried various things for about 2 hours. At one point it actually did connect to and sync with iTunes, but iTunes froze when I clicked the "eject ipod" button. From there on I couldn't reconnect to iTunes. After an exhausting amount of uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes and following apples suggestions I took my 8gb Nano to an Apple store. They couldn't figure it out either and actually DOAed it.
Just by chance when we restarted my laptop, the new Nano was already connected so iTunes immediately opened and syncd with it. At that point, both myself and the "Genius" at the Apple bar concluded the first one was just bad and that this one is ok.
While at home later that day, I had connection issues once again(windows sees it but not iTunes). This is when I figured out that I can ONLY connect to iTunes when I Turn on/Restart my computer while my Nano is connected to the USB port.
I'm using Windows Xp Home. I have the latest edition of iTunes and the Nano is up to date as well.
One last note; I used the following page to free up my system from "mostly unneccessary" services.
    http://www.dead-eye.net/WinXP%20Services.htm
I might have disabled a service that iTunes/ipod needs running.
If anyone has had or heard of this problem before or sees a service on that page that might be affecting my computer, please let me know.
    Presario V3000Z   Windows XP

I missed a comment in my previous post. In msconfig I had some services not checked and I turned them all on, including the Portable Media Service number service.
I just rebooted with that one unchecked and it had no effect.
So I would recommend having all the services checked in msconfig. One other thing you can do is compare your services list to mine. I'll include some information below. Let me know if you can determine if one of these is the culprit.
In Program Files>Accessories>System Tools> System Information you can see the running processes and other things. See if these are similar to yours. Hopefully the formatting will be correct here:
