Word and Excel auto recovery problems and syslogd craziness. Newly upgraded 2007 MBP 2.33GHz 3Gb. Scary stuff. Anyone else?

I finally reluctantly upgraded my 2007 MBP 2.33GHz duo 3GbRAM to Lion for fear of losing .mac stuff. It was very bad timing as I am nearto the end of a piece of research using 100Mb excel files and a very large multi-media word doc.
Everything seemed ok to start with. Maybe a little slow but it wasn't exactly flying before. Then yesterday after a couple of days it started to fritz.
First Autorecovery in excel started playing up saying it didn't have enough memory to reopen the xls after saving. This seems to have stopped. Then word did it too saying the location for the autorecovery wasn't right. I even lost a whole bunch of work as it seemed to overwrite a file with an old version.
Then today it did the crazy syslogd thing that I've seen others posting about.
I don't have an SSD so its not the crucial M4 firmware thing.
I'm using Mac office 2011 which I'm pretty sure is upgraded as I always do the MS updates cos they usually say "critical" (I'm on 14.2.2).
Is anyone else having similar problems?
Safari seems pretty slow to me now too. And the boot up takes forever.

- Still a cumbersome process for this of us that PAID for software and support, the whole point of this discussion is to implement this directly on LR, so we, the PAYING users don't have to waste time doing a useless process that could be EASILY AVOIDED ig Adobe released updates as they are needed, or if they OPENED THE SOURCE CODE so the community could do it.
Adobe created DNG, which is a well-documented backwards-compatible format, which is free for any manufacturer to use.

It has PRECIOUS information that illustrate my point: Adobe DNG is an attempt to stop the OpenSource community from achieving the goals of OpenRaw, which is TRUE OPENNESS, Again, Adobe is trying to get manufacturers to PAY LICENSING so they use a PROPRIETARY FORMAT that will HOLD CUSTOMERS on a PAID platform. OpenRaw is he answer for a true competitive environment.
Ask yourself why other manufacturers don't use a documented backwards-compatible format.
- Easy, because they are lazy and want kick-back. The SAME answer that I (and the entire OS community) would give if you asked about Acrobat or MS Office.
If you use a particular piece of software as your main tool, and you buy a camera which isn't yet supported by it, it's your problem. There is an expression used in the industry:
"Poor Planning on your part does not constitute an Emergency on my part."
- I agree here, it's MY PROBLEM that I decided to have a better product, it was my choice. I can still use OS Tools, which will be what I do moving forward, and about that expression, that is EXACTLY why Adobe will keep loosing customers, because the sense of urgency to help who pays their bills is inexistent. You are correct, why should they rush something so simple to help a customer right? Screw the customer... Thanks for making my point... -
Using Airport Utility, OS X Yosemite sometimes does not find my airport extreme and my iphone 6 with 8.1 does find it. Is anyone else experience this glitch? Also I couldn't log on to Apple Support... Thanks

I upgraded my operating system to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 and now my Lexmark X4875 will not print wirelessly and neither Apple, Lexmark or Belkin can work out why. Has anyone else experienced this and knows what to do? Thanks

Well this is stupid - I wrote the question above and now it is telling me the message is blank - how dumb is this.
I am having tremendous difficulty sending sipmle typed texts, voice texts and picture text messages to non I- phone users.
Simple text messages are sporadic and seem to be impacted by whether I incluse a subject or not - picture texts will not go at all.
Anyone else having this problem ???It's a corporate phone so will need to check. Will not send text messages to non I-phones if they contain a "subject" or a picture. Wierd - regular voice or typed text messages are fine.

IiPad air2 suddenly freezes, the screen goes black but the sound is still on, I have taken it back to factory settings and it was OK then yesterday it froze again, only plugging it into my IMac got it going again. Anyone else got this problem?

I recetly upgraded to iPhoto 9.5 and find that the "burn" function is not available. Has anyone else run into this issue and if so, what did you find? I know that one can burn from the "FInder" but I still want to burn in the iPhoto format.
It's been removed as Apple is no longer adding optical drives to it's computers. So to burn photos (not iPhoto compatible mini libraries) to a disk you need to export them to a folder on the Desktop via File ➙ Export ➙ File Export and burn that folder to disk via the Finder.
iPhoto 9.5 will not natively read disks created by previous versions.

UPDATE: Just went thru the process and the iPhoto Library Upgrader converted the library into a working library that iPhoto could open. However, if you want to import any of those photos into your working library you'll have to use the paid version of iPhoto Library Manager to copy the Events or album you want from the converted library into your working library. An extra 2 steps that we didn't have to do previously.

Help - anyone else out there having trouble with the new OS system on their ipad 2? I am not getting mutliple copies of several apps ont he main page. They are "collecting: in a pike int he upper left corner and the original application icon is no lobger working. I have tried a hard sync, and that didn't help.
It should only be able to have one copy of an app on the iPad. Have you tried a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.
Do all the apps work ? In the past a few people have taken a screen shot of their iPad screen and that has then become their background picture - so some of the 'app's may actually be on your wallpaper picture and not actual apps. Have you tried changing the wallpaper to see if that makes any difference ? -

System only loading the first column from csv
Trying to load data from Excel saved as csv, but the preview and PSA shows data loaded only for the first column from the csv file. All other columns are not loaded from the csv. Changed the lengths of the fields from the datasource to match the ones
