Word docs on iphone?
Is there ANY way to save Word documents on the iphone to be read offline? I already post some docs onto google docs, but I then need to be online to read them - not always convenient.

There's a terrific app that will read word docs called FileMagnet if you have a Mac. I use it and love it. You can get it in the App Store but I've also linked to their website so you can read more about it.
What files can I view on the iPhone using FileMagnet? You can view the following filetypes on the iPhone: PDF, Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), iWork (Pages, Keynote, Numbers), JPEG, GIF, TIF, PNG, HTML, RTF, TXT, Safari WebArchives, iPhone compatible movies and audio files.

Email it, then tap the attachment on your iPhone to view it. Or, upload it to a cloud service like Dropbox and use the free dropbox app to access it.

I need to attach a Word doc when online forms require it. When I Browse for a file, all the iPad and the iPhone allows are photos or videos. I have these docs in Dropbox and Skybox but I cannot get to them from Browse. How can I do this?
Take a look at the iCab Mobile browser for the iPad. It allows document uploads if you configure it properly in the settings. iCab Mobile also works with DropBox.
You may have to download the documents to the iPad and upload from there, but it might be worth a look here.

How can I upload any file (not only photos) under iOS 6?
Unlike the web engine of iOS 5.x and older, the web engine of iOS 6 has now basic upload support as well. But it only supports uploading photos and videos from the photo album. And this will only work under iOS 6.
The upload capability of iCab Mobile works under all iOS releases and supports uploading photos videos and all other file types. It can even scale down photos before uploading to save bandwidth.
But iCab's own custom upload capability has the disadvantage, that because of several iOS restrictions, it can not work on all web pages. Therefore under iOS 6, iCab Mobile provides a switch in the settings where the user can choose, if iCab should use the upload capability from the iOS (only photos, works with some more web pages) or the capabilities of iCab (photos and all other files, can't work on all web pages).
So if you need to upload other files than just photos, make sure that you set the option "Upload files via" in the settings to "iCab Mobile".

I have a couple of questions? 1. I recently updated my old '04 macbook pro to snow leopard 10.6.8, when I went to open an old word doc., it opened with iwork and will not allow me to print until I update to iwork'08. Do I have to update? If I do, is this an update or do I have to purchase iwork? 2. Can I update my old '04 macbook pro to Lion or Mountain Lion or is this too much? I just purchased and iphone 5 but do not know if Snow Leopard can give me the future updates I might need?? Also does icloud work with Snow Leopard? Thanks for help, I am lost...
Try resetting your SMC and NVRAM before attempting to install again.

Shut down the computer by going to Apple () > Shut Down…

Turn on the computer by pressing the Power Button.
On the built-in keyboard, press and hold the Command (⌘), Option (⌥), P, and R keys before the gray screen appears.
Continue to hold down the keys until the computer restarts and you hear the startup chime for the second time.

My itunes library was on my PC. About two years ago I switched it to my Seagate server/hardrive. (itunes-preferences-advanced-change library). Last summer (2012) I bought a macbook, which seems to access the seagate server hard drive fine for word docs, excel spreadsheets,etc. It also seems to have started its own library which is not complete. My PC died this summer (I still have it though).
Now when syncing any of the multiple devices (ipods,ipads, iphones) that we have with my mac book, itunes states that "an error occurred" or the "app cannot be found". Itunes wants me to erase the device and sync with my macbook. The message "The iPhone “Renee’s iPhone” is synced with another iTunes library on “Renee PC”. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library."appears.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Reneeu can give try to using external enclosre and backup ur files. I hope u will get files back. or using external enclosre with ur hdd boot into Linux and try to mount ur harddisk.

Word doc to Pages to Word doc conversion problems
I imported a word doc into pages on my iphone.
I edited the document on my phone, then exported it back to word format, emailed it to myself and opened it on my macbook in word again.
Now there are some weird spell check errors happening (eg it doesn't like the word 'you' and suggests all kind of rubbish) and the formatting of the apostrophes is all wrong.
Is there a quick fix for this? My document is 102,000 words long, I don't like the idea of having to redo the apostrophes one by one...I'd recommend you use Word for Mac for such stuff.
Before buying that, you could try the free Open/LibreOffice and see if the result is satisfactory.
If you already have Pages on your machine, just do File > Open and see how it looks and works. -
Viewing/Syncing PDF and Word Docs?
I read before I bought my iPhone that it would have support for PDF and Word Docs. How do I view and store these docs? Since I can sync music and movie files, can I sync documents too?
So I can store and view a 700MB movie, but not and 8kb text file? Are you kidding? I've tried emailing myself a PDF, but I can only view it in Mail's tiny vertical window. So far I have been unable to open ANY PDF on the Web. I get an error "Safari can not download this type of file."
There is no way to sync/view a PDF like I sync/view Photos? Why include PDF support then implement it in the narrowest way imaginable? This phone just became useless in any type of business environment. It is unbelievable that on an 8 gig Phone I can't even store a PDF, Word, or TXT file. Looks like this phone is a $600 toy, not a device for a serious user. -
anyone have any idea if on the new software coming out they will have a word processor, i mean its supposed to be the latest technology and not having a word processor is a real pain

You can save them to read with some of the new apps. FileMagnet is one that I have been using and it save them on the iphone to read latter. Hope that helps.

I cannot send a Pages document, Word via email if the doc contains a picture. If I email a Pages doc without a pic in Word format or pdf with a pic it with go through to sender? Not sure why Pages won't send Word doc with a picture in it. I check the security on the email recipient and the email doesn't get blocked or throw in the junk box?

drainguy41If you have upgraded to Mountain Lion, Save As… has returned to the File menu when you hold down the Option/alt key. But you don't really "save" as other file types, you translate & export as Word or RTF or text or PDF & that is easily done by going to File > Export or Share > Export.
Also, please do us all a favor & don't use all capitals in your posts, either the body of the post or the title. All caps is the internet equivalent of shouting & is very hard to read.
