    Hi Sara!
Yes this sounds interesting. Can I update to that from the PDF Export I have just renewed? How much would that cost?
    Thanks for your quick answer.

  • Since upgrade when I click on a image in my word documents they all select

    Hi There
I didnt know if this is the correct forum for this, but please dont direct me over to microsoft since I get nowhere fast..
    My problem is this;
I upgraded my Mac with some software updates, which probably have nothing to do with the problem, but since then when i click on a image in a word document and then go to click on another they both are highlighted (as though I am trying to group them) click on others and the same happens. If I go out of the word document and back in it seems to be fixed, but then it happens over.
Didnt have the problem before, as I had to click the image and hold shift to click anything further.
    any ideas

    Hi baydreaner,
Navigate to ~(yourHome)/Library/Preferences/Microsoft and drag that folder to the desktop. Then relaunch Word and test.

  • Shared MS Word documents : styles all messed up

    Hi Guys,
a few users are editing and uploading a shared MS Word document. This works great except that several times a day, styles are messed up and lose their numerings, indents, etc.
Only work around is to use the Organizer to copy/paste styles definition from a previous stable version of the document.
They all have Office 2013 and none is using the Web App, but access the document through the explorer view.
Every used styles are attached to the document (no .dot) and set to not update automatically.
Sure copy/pasting from other documents could cause this, but even when document has been cleaned up and is in fine tuning with no copy/pasting from other sources, that could happen.
Does anyone have any clue on what we're doing wrong ? Or even maybe some settings of our SP is wrong ?
    KR,
    Nico

    Hi Nico,
Since the document is shared to multiple users, there can be the possibility of the issue occurs during the co-authoring.
By default, there is no option can be set to change style of a document stored in SharePoint site by some rule or automatically.
If you have versions enabled, could you please check them and find out when the document has been changed styles, and test the issue again.
The issue could be caused by client sides or improper user behavior.

I used the converter, I downloaded the resulting file, and it's an image, or rather, pages of images.

  • Importing word documents - but losing all images which was in it

    Hi,
I am fairly new to Robohelp and recently got hold of Robohelp 8.
I have already written a Help File for my company's recent product, and the help file was in word 2007 with a lot of screenshots of icons, buttons and dialog boxes pasted in it.
On importing the word document to Robohelp, none of these images are being imported and I cannot see any of them in the project view.
I wanted to use the link to word document feature so that i do not have to keep re-importing the document for any changes made - however, because the images are not being imported, i now have to add them manually to the project.
1 - this is tiring and very time consuming
2 - the project files to which i add the pictures are no longer updated from the word document if any of the text changes as the project is preserving the changes i made to the file (which was only adding the image manually). Kind of defeat the purpose of link to the word document.
    HELP
I would really appreciate any help in
1 - How to import a word document containing images (screenshots, icons etc) without losing the images
2 - Keep the word document to update the project even after i add any images to the project manually.
    Thanks
    Nivekz

    Hi again
    Thanks for the clarification.
Okay, so really what you are doing is identical to clicking File > Import > Word Document, because all you are doing by choosing PDF is pre-selecting PDF as the listed file types. Once you change it to point to Word documents it's no different.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Emf images in word document convert badly to pdf using adobe plug-in

I have a problem with converting word documents containing emf images to pdf using the adobe plugin in the MS word ribbon which is provided with Adobe Acrobat XI standard. The text and some of the image formatting in the emf vector image either disappears or moves within the in the resulting output when the document is converted to a pdf. The issue also occurs when I use the "File > save as adobe pdf" option.
    Example image in word:
    Example result after pdf conversion:
I have adjusted many of the settings to try and get the conversion to work.
When I use the print then select the adobe printer  this image pdf's ok. However he Adobe word plug-in is potentially very useful and a time saver because it allows default settings (including security) to be applied time and time again by default ensuring consistency. It is also important for us to be able to use a high quality vector image.
I hope someone can help here!
    Thanks
    Tom

We had the problem last year for my last PhD student and his dissertation. It was an issue with vector graphics, not bitmaps. In his case, the lines on a curve were solid, dotted, and dashed, but all came out as solid. In the printed version it was correct. The only solution we found was to create the file from the plugin and a second file with the printer. Then the second file was inserted in the original with replace pages. This meant that all the markup, bookmarks, and such were retained, but the graphics worked. If you do not need the extra bookmarks and such of the plugin, then just set up the printer to do the security you want. If you always want the security set, set it in the printer properties in the Start>Printers menu of Windows.

  • Use Powershell to replace text with image in Word document

I have a powershell script that uses a Word document as a template to create signatures that I am pushing out to my organization.
The document is populated with text formatted the way I want the signature to look, that I then do a FindText and ReplaceText on.  This works fine for replacing text with text, but I can't figure out how to properly replace some of the holder text with
an image and a link.  I found a few posts about adding images to word documents, but none that seem to work properly in this scenario.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    Dear BOFH,
You are correct that method I outlined is not for inserting an image into a signature block (which would be in Outlook, not Word).  The links you post do certainly deal with outlook signatures, well done... Except that the question was about how to
use a Powershell script to replace text in a Word document with an image.  Sure it was framed in the context of creating signatures, but the poster expressed that they already had a method of generating and replacing text, and just needed to know, as
I did, how to do the thing they actually asked.
Please BOFH... Please forgive my audacity in hoping to find a reference (any reference) to how to replace Word text with images via Powershell in a thread titled "Use Powershell to replace text with image in Word document".
This is certainly a scripting question, and even something as simple as "You will need to call the .NET methods for the Word find/replace functionality.  Please ask in the Word forums for the correct method to use.
If you need help on calling .NET methods look HTTP ://here"support you offered combined with the contempt you offer in response to my actual substantive help to the actual question asked.
BOFH, you are not better than us, just more arrogant.
Can you please start your own question as this one has been closed.  Please see scripting guidelines.
We cannot guarantee you satisfaction as this is a user supported forum.  The is no SLA for community support.  Perhaps if you posted a better worded question as a new topic someone might be able to help you resolve your issue.
The topic you are posting on is closed and answered.

  • Outputting images in word documents

    DB Version: Oracle 11g XE
    Host: Windows 2003 Server - 32 Bit
I have a current application that produces MS Word Documents from host based templates and stores them in the database for later printing. This works nicely however I would also like to be able to embed some small images into the MS Word document. The images are based on user profiles so need to be dynamically managed and merged into the MS Word document.
These images may be stored either on the file system also (alongside the MS Word templates) or within WWV_FLOW_FILES (?) and I just need to work out how to merge the two files into one output.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Mike

    Hi,
I'm actually thinking whether the issue is related to Office version. What are the versions of Office on your laptop and workstation?
Based on the description, the issue doesn't occur if the document is saved as .doc, it only occurs if the document is saved as .docx, so basically we can say your workstation doesn't support .docx well. Is it a version prior to Office 2007?

  • How to convert word documents to html page in sharepoint online 2013

    Hi,
I am new SharePoint and still learning it.
I have been tasked to do the following on office 365 E3 SharePoint 2013 Online edition.
    1) I have to create a Web page in asp.net
    2) This page needs to show document from a given SharePoint folder and bind them in a grid or dropdown on the asp .net web page
    3) On selecting the document from the drop down or gird (on asp .net webpage), I need to show the SharePoint word document as HTML on the webpage (something like word to html) Note: These SharePoint word document may contain Images, bullets, tables etc.
What I have been able to do till now
    1) I have been able to connect to SharePoint from ASP .net application.
    2) I have been able to retrieve document from a specific SharePoint folder.
    3) Read the document from SharePoint folder and bind them to a drop down on the asp .net page.
    What is missing?
I am not aware about any API that SharePoint Online provides to convert Word document to HTML. Any code sample or reference on how to will be much appreciated.
I am not also not sure what is the best way of achieving the functionality this?
    Thanks
    Krishna

If this was SharePoint server then it would be easy however in O365 You need to create a app which will use the word automation service and below is  powershell which you can use for the conversion:-
    # This script will convert Docx to PDF using word automation and similarly it can be used to convert to HTML
    $wordFile="http://contoso/kick.docx"
    $pdfFile="http://contoso/kick.pdf"
    $wasp = Get-SPServiceApplicationProxy | where { $_.TypeName -eq "Word Automation Services Proxy" }
    $site = Get-SPSite "http://contoso"
    $ConvertJob = New-Object Microsoft.Office.Word.Server.Conversions.SyncConverter($wasp)
    $ConvertJob.UserToken = $site.UserToken
    $ConvertJob.Settings.UpdateFields = $false
    $ConvertJob.Settings.OutputFormat = "PDF"
    $ConvertJob.Convert($wordFile, $pdfFile)

  • Inserting Picture (from Web- through Webdav) to Word document using VSTO code

    Hi,
I have been trying to insert an image/picture to current selection in word. with help of code -
    Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.InlineShape s = this.Application.Selection.InlineShapes.AddPicture(
    @"http://127.0.0.1:9001/test/myimage.png", true, true, Type.Missing);
This code works fine if image is on desktop or network shared location but some issues for URL exposed through Webdav.
On inserting the picture word shows - "The linked image cannot be displayed....." message. If we close and open word document again then image appears properly.
    Some observations:
    1. If we use same option through Ribbon  "Insert -> Picture -> Enter path and click on "Link to File" then we get Prompt for Wevdav password (Only once, later Word caches it) and linked images appear properly.
    2. Updating the shape explicitly wouldnt help.
    s.LinkFormat.Update();
What we are looking for is, Does Ribbon "Insert" functionality do something additional to prompt Webdav authentication to cache? if we want to achieve the same? what needs to be invoked before we make call to AddPicture API?
    Thanks
    H

    Thanks for the response..
No, when document is opened again, then you dont need to enter the password.
Somehow on document open event MS word knows how to retreive password from cookie for given domain.
When you insert the image using ribbon -> insert picture option,
MS Word first looks into cache if the domain cokkie already available then bypass authentication/password prompt
Otherwise it would show the prompt and store the cookie in cache again.
The mystry is how MS-Word interacts with this "cached cookies"
while doing more reading on this, it seems MS Word has been using Klink.dll for this kind of functionality https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/899927 but it would be great if you can provide more pointers.
    >>Could you share an image link of Webdav?
Since, it's my local webdav server, you would not be able to access the image link, may be you can upload an image to sharepoint (as sharepoint also supports webdav) and use that for reproducing this problem at your end.
    Thanks
    H

  • Importing a 900 page MS-Word document to InDesign CS 6

The Word document has course descriptions of all the classes offered at a community college. The need is to have two columns(textboxes of equal size)
in each page of the InDesign document and then bring the information from the Word document to InDesign so that when it is printed, it can be like information in a telephone directory as
    Page 1
Column 1 data Column 2 data
    Page 2
Column 1 data Column 2 data
    and so on.
    The Word document is like
    Page 1
    Page 1 data
    Page 2
    Page 2 data
I understand using the Place option in File menu, the Word document can be imported, but how can the information be
brought over so that it flows in the two columns of each InDesign page. If I do an import now, the InDesign pages are like
    Page 1
    Page 1 data
    Page 2
    Page 2 data
I selected the Import options while using the Place option in File menu and chose
Use Indesign formatting in case of a conflict.
    1. Is there a way to bring the information from the Word document so that it flows in the two columns of each InDesign page without loss of formatting? The MS-Word document has bold text, headings, sub-headings etc.
    I would appreciate any suggestions.

    Thanks Peter,
I found it in Story Editor View, took the text(Cut) and tried pasting it in the next line, but did not work. I pasted the text to Notepad so that formatting is removed, then tried pasting it in InDesign, but it still did not paste.
How can I find out what is causing it and how can it be fixed?
The Word document has all the information in a table(with no borders). I cannot get ID to import it. I tried "Remove styles and formatting from text and tables" option in Show Import Options, "Remove styles and formatting from text and tables" option with Preserve Local overrides checked so that tables can be converted to unformatted tables or unformatted tabbed text, but it did not work.
Thanks a lot for your prompt responses and time in this thread.

  • How to merge multiple XML or Text documents into 1 Word Document?

    Hi all,
We're looking for a way to merge multiple XML or Text documents into 1 Word document.
All the XML or Text documents are oriented as a 'Paragraph', meaning smaller pieces of text.
By selecting some of these XML documents, the system should be able to create a new Word document with all the selected text paragraphs included.
The Word document can then be edited for applying a correct lay-out and the document is ready.
Actually, we are trying to do some kind of 'mail merge' but with multiple XML or Text documents!
Has anybody an idea whether something exist already or give us a direction how to proceed?
    Thanks in advance,

You use Assembler for this purpose.
    1) Assembler can be accessed through LC Java API. See http://help.adobe.com/en_US/enterpriseplatform/10.0/programLC/help/index.html
API Quick Starts (Code Examples) > Assembler Service API Quick Starts
    2) Last week I posted on generating and merging PDF's from PostScript. Take a look at the assembly service instance in the .lca. Assembler uses DDX (Document Description XML) to describe document construction. NOTE the .lca was developed with ES 3 (aka ADEP). The .lca It contains the most basic DDX.
