Word document pdf printing with vertical and horizontal pages

I have a Word document that has both vertical and horizontal formatted pages.  When I print to PDF, the I get a new pdf file whenever a page orientation change is found.  pages 1 to 7 are vertical, 8 to 12 are horizontal and 13 to 20 are vertical again.  If I print to a file named "out_to_PDF" I get 3 files named "out_to_PDF", "out_to_PDF2" and "out_to_PDF3", the first one with pages 1 to 7, the second one with pages 8 to 12 and the third one with the remaining pages.  Is there a way to get only one file with all the pages?
I know I can merge the files later.  This file with 20 pages is no problem.  I have several 70+ page docs, with multiple changes between horizontal and vertical that will result in 20 or more separate pdf files.
Any pointers?

Word renders print jobs that change the orientation as separate print jobs. So, each print job becomes its own PDF.
You can make an Automator workflow to combine PDFs. I’m not sure how it decides the order it combines them, so you’d have to experiment.
This is built as an Application where you’d drop all of the PDFs onto the App icon and it will open the combined PDF where you can edit, name, and save.

  • Quick Look PDF with vertical and horizontal pages

    Is there any way to make Quick Look preview a PDF file with vertical and horizontal pages without adding white padding and retaining the aspect ratio?
    Now, if I have a PDF with page 1 vertical and the other pages horizontal QL shows the latter also with the ratio of a vertical page and adds white padding at their top and bottom. You get the inverse output if the first page is horizontally oriented, but the rest are vertical.

  • Image Sequence with vertical and horizontal photos

    I'm trying to use a particle emitter with image sequence to make photos appear and move one at a time. I have collected about 20 JPEGs that I numbered sequentially so Motion would read them as an image sequence. No problem there. Most of the photos have a horizontal orientation (3000x2000) but several are vertical (2000x3000), and Motion is cropping the vertical images to fit within a horizontal frame (like this). When I apply the particle emitter, that cropping is retained.
    I know I have seen examples of a similar process and the emitter treats the photos are individual pieces, retaining their original size and orientation. What am I doing wrong?

    Technically, in a proper Image Sequence, all images are the same size/aspect ratio.
    What you'll need to do is make on set (vertical or horizontal) a new size, to fit inside the other. The Particle Emitter will matte it's images to one or the other, which ever comes first.

  • How do I export from PDF to Word when PDF has both portrait and landscape pages in it?

    Most of the pdf is in portrait but a few are in landscape in the middle of the document and it totally screws up the rest of the document. Help! AND the portrait page size is 8.27 x 11/69.

    Looks like you have A4 pages. I would copy the PDF and then rotate the landscape pages (or portrait) individually (use the tools, not the view rotation) and then do the save to DOC or DOCX. That might do what you want. I would have expected it to notice the orientation, but I guess not. You did not mention the version of Acrobat. If you have not done the updates, you may want to do those first. Your issue may have been address with the updates.

  • HP LaserJet 5500dtn print quality issues: vertical and horizontal streaks

    Hi,
    I am getting large vertical yellow streaks, accompanied by cyan and magenta vertical dashes on each print.  Also, each page has vertical and horizontal black streaks.  I've cleaned the fuser and that hasn't made much of a difference.  I've also tried cleaning some of the cartridges, which didn't help.  The internal roller of each cartridge continues to get covered with excess toner.  Furthermore, I get a weird offset of some of the text (a faded version of the text that is offset about 1.5" from the regular text).  Is there anyway to fix this issue by cleaning certain parts?  Any other suggestions?  Thanks

    Hi,
    Yes it is in Warranty. It is virtually brand new.
    After I last posted I got through to the online chat support and was sent an email with options to 'troubleshoot' which I had already done with no success.
    I was also given a link to try to update the printer firmware - which I will try when I get home from work.
    I will see if that makes any difference but am sceptical as the printer worked fine the first time round but hasn't worked since and nothing has changed on it.
    Chris.

  • Why are some of my pages centering themselves (vertically and horizontally) after I select the "Shrink document to avoid overwriting..." option under Add Headers and Footers?

    I'm working in Adobe Acrobat X Pro. I added header and footers through Adobe. I needed to select the "Shrink document to avoid overwriting the document's text and graphics" feature under the "Appearance Options..." option within the "Add Header and Footer" window. Some of the pages in my document that only had a few lines of text on them centered themselves (vertically and horizontally). How can I prevent that from happening?

    Just to recap, this is a collection of ports I have collected over time for people who needed this information when setting up the HP ePrint app so that they could view their email from within the app.  I am certain other applications also need this information.  Although lengthy, I could not find a more comprehensive place to retrieve this information.  Feel free to post additional information, faulty information, or other related topics below as this is simply a collection of data and it would be practically impossible to test all of them. Thank you!

  • Center vertically and horizontally with a single layout?

    verticalLayout has the horizontalAlign property, and horizontalLayout has the verticalAlign property.  How can you use a particular layout to determine the flow of the children, but also specify vertical and horizontal alignment?  In Flex 3 this was as simple as <VBox verticalAlign="middle" horizontalAlign="center">...

    Take a look at http://forums.adobe.com/thread/448063
    If you don't want to use extra containers then you could use Spacer components.
    For example to align vertically in the center:
    <s:VGroup width="200" height="200" horizontalAlign="center>
      <mx:Spacer height="100%" />
      <s:Button label="center aligned" />
      <mx:Spacer height="100%" />
    </s:VGroup>
    Or at the bottom:
    <s:VGroup width="200" height="200" horizontalAlign="center>
      <mx:Spacer height="100%" />
      <s:Button label="center aligned" />
    </s:VGroup>

  • Printing a document with A4 and A3 pages

    I often have documents consisting of both A4 and A3 pages.
    When I print them I would like the A4 pages to be printed double sided and the A3 pages to be printed single sided.
    How can I set Adobe reader/my printer to do this?
    Thanks!

    There is no way to do this by just choosing a setting. There is not that level of printer control.

  • Apex 4.2.2 PDF Printing with Apex 2.0 Listener

    We recently installed Apex 4.2 with the Apex 2.0 Listener and can successfully print interactive reports and classic reports to PDF.  I viewed Mark Sewtz PDF Printing with Apex 4.2.2 and saw how he is using third party tools to format reports.  We have also looked into the Jasper Report Integration Toolkit, but have only got it working on the Tomcat environment, not WebLogic.
    I'm trying to download a classic report in PDF format with our logo displayed at the header.  In the print attributes section, there is a section for header.  I've tried adding the following in the header section:
    <img src = "http://hr.unm.edu/common/images/unm_dept_logo.gif">
    No Logo Prints
    #APP_IMAGES#unm_dept_logo.gif
    Prints in header:
    wwv_flow_file_mgr.get_file?
    p_security_group_id=3930016164431413%26p_flow_id=106%26p_fname=unm_dept_logo.gif
    #WORKSPACE_IMAGES#unm_dept_logo.gif
    Prints in header: /i/unm_dept_logo.gif
    I've also added the logo in the report region, prior to the columns printing, but no logo downloads to PDF.
    Does the Apex Listener only render text?  Is there any way to get the logo to print in the header without using a third party tool?  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

    Hi,
    There are different options to include images in your PDF exports. What's important to understand though is that with the PDF export functionality we separate the formatting from the actual data. So the formatting is defined in your RTF or XSL-FO templates and the data is stored in the XML that APEX generates based on your report data. We have several formatting options exposed on the print attributes pages, i.e. you can define page formatting, dimensions, fonts, colors, etc - all of these are applied to what we call generic XSL-FO templates. Those templates are generic in that they can be used with different reports, having variable numbers of columns and variable column names. Those formatting attributes can not be used however with named column templates, such as those that you generate with BI Publisher or those third-party tools I talked about in my Blog.
    So if you want to use these formatting options, you need a generic report layout - which you get out of the box using the built-in layout. But you also have the option to create your own generic report layout (see Shared Components -> Report Layouts). When creating a custom generic report layout, you'll get a copy of the built-in layout as a starting point. Once created, you can manually modify this layout to meet your needs. As you edit this template, you'll find a number of #....# substitution strings. This is what APEX uses at runtime to fill in your formatting values as well as to assemble your generic layout based on your result set.
    Now one way to include your own image would be to add an image reference to this generic report layout. You can't use the page header or footer attributes on the print attributes page for that because the FOP rendering engine does not understand or translate HTML. It renders XSL-FO. So to add your own image reference, you need to use XSL-FO mark-up. If you want to add an image to your page header, look for the #PAGE_HEADER# substitution string in the "Page Template" attribute of your generic report layout. You should be able to find the following:
    <fo:inline xsl:use-attribute-sets="page-header">
        #PAGE_HEADER#
    </fo:inline>
    Now assuming you have a file stored in your local images directory on localhost, you could add the following external graphic reference:
    <fo:inline xsl:use-attribute-sets="page-header">
        <fo:external-graphic src="http://localhost:8080/i/cloud.gif" content-height="scale-to-fit" height="30px"  content-width="150px" scaling="non-uniform"/>
        #PAGE_HEADER#
    </fo:inline>
    Once you're done with your chanages, save the report layout and edit your report. Go to the print attributes and select your generic report layout and then run your report page and export the PDF. Provided the APEX Listener is able to find this external image reference, it will now be included above your report in your PDF document.

    Marc

  • Center all vertically and horizontally?

    I'm trying to self-publish a book using CreatSpace on Amazon.  They want an extra 1/8" around all margins of a 6x9" book (actually more on the width) to allow for bleed.  I have to generate a PDF.  When I changed the page size it kept the type in the same spot, and made the pages jump back and forth a little in the PDF.  It would be good if they stayed in the same place.  How can I center ALL the artwork -- including the headers on the master page -- both vertically and horizontally to fill a particular page size?  Thanks for any advice.

    There may be a bit of miscommunication going on. You should be designing with the final trimmed page size in mind, and if you have images or solids that need to bleed, they need to extend beyond the trim size. When output to PDF, you specify whether to include crops and bleeds, and the size of the crop marks and bleed area. For example, if you want something like this crappy example I just knocked off:
    You would set up your page size at 6x9 and place the images like this:
    …and when output to PDF with the marks of your choice:
    …you get something like this:
    …which results in a PDF whose size is 6.83x9.83, but when trimmed will be 6x9. If you measure from the crop marks, the size is 6x9, and if you measure from the bleed marks, the size is 6.25x9.25, which is the trim size with 1/8" bleeds on all sides. Ask the publisher what marks they would like. They may not want bleed guides or color bars, so just give them what they want.

    Hi ...
    Checked to see how much free space there is on the startup disk lately?
    Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's a minimum of 15% free disk space.
    Freeing Up Hard Disk Space - Mac GuidesFreeing Up Hard Disk Space - Mac Guides
    If disk space is not the issue, booting in Safe Mode deletes system caches that may help.
    A Safe Mode boot takes longer then a normal boot so be patient.
    Once you see the Desktop, click the Apple menu icon top left corner of the screen.
    From the drop down menu click Restart.
    See if that makes a difference ...

  • Center text in text field - vertically and horizontally

    Hi to all,
    I have a text field with a specific size (for example 10x10 cm) I need this size because all the fields in the report must have this minimum size and they just can grow vertically (expand).
    But i need to put the text centered in the field, vertically and horizontally. just in the middle whatever the size of the box.
    The parameter "Center" in justify text doesn't help. Only adjust horizontally.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
    If you want to center vertically, you have to use an anchor .

  • Pages can't create kind of document  first page on vertical and second page on horizon

    help me i won't create kind of document are  first page on vertical and second page on horizon.

    pages on iOS dosnt support making new documents with landscape view. I think this would also make it so you could not combine the two orientations in a single document.
    I was able to get a landscape document made by making it on the desktop, emailing it to myself, then saving it in pages on my ipad. Not sure if that would work for a combination document.

  • Apex with XE10g/Tomcat 6.0.13 PDF Print with Apex  FOP.WAR

    Apex with XE10g/Tomcat 6.0.13 PDF Print with Apex fop.war/apex_fop.jsp
    Hello,
    Excuse me bad english.
    I have a problem with Oracle XE and Printing from Reports over Tomcat 6.0.13.
    I have update Oracle XE with Apex 3.1 and it works fine.
    Now i have tried to Print a report to PDF. So i have deployed the FOP.WAR from Apex Utilities under Tomcat.
    I see in Tomcat Manager http://localhost:8888/manager/html/list that the FOO
    has been deployed and is running.
    If i try to print then i get this Message down to this page.
    Can anybody give me a hint to solve this problem???
    Hint
    To resolve the problem i have installed Oracle OC4J with same Port and deployed
    the same foo.war file.
    Then works and all printing from Oracle Apex work fine and okay.
    So i thing the Apex and Oracle work correct.
    But we have a small Application so i would prefer to work with Tomcat a application Server.
    Becaus of previous Errors have copied some *.jar files to C:\tomcat6.0.13\lib
    but i thing this is not the Problem.
