Word Documents on Iphone

Is there a way to save word docs on the iphone?

You can save them to read with some of the new apps. FileMagnet is one that I have been using and it save them on the iphone to read latter. Hope that helps.

You can email it to yourself, or if you have an app on the iPhone that can open Word documents, you can probably sync the document from your computer through iTunes:
    http://www.macobserver.com/tmo/article/ipad_transfering_files_with_itunes
Depending on the apps you have, you may also be able to use a cloud-base file sharing service such as iCloud or Dropbox.

  • Saving Word documents in Iphone

I would like to save a word document in my iphone but cannot figure out how to do it! I have several docs that I would like to have quick access to (like I had in my Blckberry) but the only way I can do it is through saving the e-ail. But if I am not in WiFi range, then I cannot open it.
    Any suggestions out there?

I leave them as email attachments.
For the IMAP email account that I use on my iPhone, I created a folder called Documents. Then from either my laptop or desktop I email myself the documents I want access to on the phone and place them in the Documents folder I created so that I can easily find them.
Because it is IMAP, the folder and it's contents reside on the email server so it can easily be accessed by the phone.

  • Why does apple not allow iphone to open .rtf word documents

Before you get lost in my post, please remember this.  I simply want to know how to view .rtf word document files from my mac products.  It's vital.  So there you go, please don't get upset at me because of my love/hate relationship with mac products.....
I like my apple products in general, but sometimes it seems as if the apple programmers are so stubborn and are not sympathetic to the actual end user.  There seems to be an unnecessary PC vs Mac mindset.  There needs to be a customer mindset.
People like me have problems seeing certain .rtf word documents that are created at work with a PC, emailed out to the emplyees, and then only those that use non-apple smartphones and computers are able to actually see the original / very important word document.  I (a mac user) am one of those people who gets ostracized because I use an iPhone and Macbook Pro.  Case in point:
My work prints out the next days schedule in a .rtf word document format.  It's usually an attachment.
When I try to view it with the iPhone (the worlds most popular "smart" phone), it can't see this common and very popular file type used by businesses and government employees.  It says "An error occured while reading the document".  Wonderful...I guess I have to call my buddy with a blackberry.
When I try to view the common file with my $1,200 MacBook Pro, it doesn't know how to open up this .rtf file by default.  I have to select "Open it with: Preview, or Text Edit".  Then, a useless downloads box remains up after the computer has finished downloading...and then it sends the file to an inconvinient destination...somewhere that I have to then go on a hunt for by using the "today" option in finder.  I use the word "useless" because these download windows are always empty and instead of being useful (by actually containing the file that I just clicked to open), it then requires you to go for a time wasting/frustrating hunt.  How hard would that be?  Actually making the experience user friendly?  You tell the computer to download a file, it downloads it, and then shows the file to you in that window? Preposterous!  (sorry, I'm not trying to sound pompous...I'm just frustrated)
Anyway, sometimes the computer will attempt to translate it (a schedule with peoples names, times, and it's contained within boxes that resemble an excel spreadsheet), but everything winds up all messed up and jumbled.  Instead of reading the .rtf word file...macs resort to a lackluster attempt to translate it for you.
Maybe I am not seeing things correctly.  I don't know.  I'm just a common man.  I do know this though.  The programmers need to listen to the people and not be different just for the sake of being different.
How do I get my iphone and macbook to open up a .rtf file as soon as I select it??? I want it to behave like a PC does with respect to being user friendly and logical.  (I don't want to have to save it on a thumbdrive, go to a second computer while jumping on one leg, upload the file, brew a cup of coffee while I wait, translate it, and then send it back to my iphone so that I can view it....I'm only partly joking here)
Thanks for the help in advance.

My iPhone won't view them at all...yet.  I'm hoping that I can figure it out.
Well when I use pages to open the file on my macbook, it opens up an incorrect interpretation.  Things are mis-aligned.  Think of columns and rows.  If the original document had A1 defined as John Doe and A2 defined as a time of 10:30, then Pages in my Macbook may translate it as A1 - John Doe, A2 - blank, B1 - blank, B2 - 10:30.  The lines that are used to outline boxes wind up different lengths and thicknesses as well.
    For example:
PC word doc (original)                                                  Mac (translation)
    John Doe  |  10:30                                              John Doe     |
                                                                                                        _______ 10:30
Above is a simple interpretation, but I hope that it sort of gives you a visual representation of what I'm seeing (if I see anything at all).  Things appear in the wrong places and a one page document turns into 3-4 pages of incorrect "fluff" if you know what I mean.

  • TS1506 how do i save a word document attached to an email to my iphone

I am trying to save a word document from an email to my iphone 4s.
I have looked on all of the support pages and have found that word . doc is supported but cannot see how i can save it in any way?
I have followed all guidelines but now it is making it hard to either attach a document to my email and save them

In order to save any type of document on your phone you need to have an app that supports that form of document.
There are several word processing apps but I prefer Pages.  Buy this app. Once it is on your phone you can tap the Word document in your email to view it then tap the Share icon and Open in Pages.
If you edit the document and email it you will have the choice to send it as a Pages document, a Word document or a PDF file.

  • Saving a Word or excel document to iphone

I currently recieved a word document on my iphone that I want to save. Is there a way to save that document or spreadsheet somewhere on my iphone?

    In a word, no.
It must be stored with the received email message, and viewed from there only - at the present time anyway. This may be different after firmware update 2.0 is released in June, but no way to know for certain.

  • Transfer Word Document Email Attachment from my iPhone to My Computer

How can I transfer a word document attached to an email on my iPhone to my Desktop Computer?

"Both connected to the same WiFi" is where the problem lies. I am often out of the house and away from an internet connection. I have the same problem - I know I have received the email with the attachment, as my iphone tells me, but I cannot get it onto my Mac in order to edit the file and send it back again. My problem is more to do with excel files (where you cannot see anything other than the first page of the workbook), but is basically the same problem.
Will some techno-genius please tell me if buying and carrying a second wireless router in my computer bag will solve the problem? This would enable both devices to be on the same wifi network, and then the app called WePrint would work. It thinks it can work over a peer to peer network.....but it doesn't. It only works over a proper wireless network.

  • HT4623 word document doesnt want to be opened on my iphone

a word document  doesnt want to be opened today on my iphone although it was opened yesterday, what to do??

The file format used by the iOS versions of the iWork apps can only be read by the new iWork apps on your Mac - i.e. Keynote 6, Pages 5 & Numbers 3. Those versions for the Mac require Mavericks, OS X 10.9. The "too old" error on a Mac comes if you are trying to open an iWork '08 or earlier file in the newest apps. If you do have the newest apps you can open the files from your iPad.
If you can't or don't want to upgrade to Mavericks & the newest iWork apps your best option would be to export/share the files from the iPad to a type an older version of iWork can read such as Word, text, Excel, etc.
Or contact AppleCare. They made this mess, let them fix it.

  • How can I copy a long string of texts from my iPhone 4s to a word document?

I need to copy a long string of texts to a word document on my PC.

One method would be to use 3rd party software. The following is one example but there may be better/cheaper or even free options: http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/touchcopy/

  • Is it possible to recover deleted files from the Microsoft Word app for iPhone? I am desperate.

Is it possible to recover deleted files from the Microsoft Word app for iPhone? I am desperate.

From the Microsoft Word app they say "Access Word documents from OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive for Business, or SharePoint" so it sounds like you can specify where they are saved. However, my guess would be that the default will be OneDrive.
To the OP: Have you tried logging into onedrive.live.com to see if you can see your letter there?

  • How do you actually save a word document in icloud?

Word docs won't be dragged and dropped into icloud box on my mac. I bought the stupid pages app and then iwork from apple thinking that might help, as docs could be saved in Pages format and retrieved on my iPhone. But pages docs can't be password protected, so sensitive documents - such as those containing bank details and the like - can't be saved via the cloud to access on my phone.
With iDisk this was possible. What's the alternative, since Pages is an inferior program in so very many ways to Word?

Word documents can be saved in iCloud, although they will be converted to pages documents when opened on an iOS device. If you are having problems dragging and dropping your Word documents onto iCloud.com, try a another word format.
Pages documents do not require password protection when in iCloud, because iCloud itself is password protected.

  • Syncing word docs with iphone

How do I bring word documents and spreadsheets into the iphone for use and editing there?
Is there a place in itune where I can drop files for syncing?

Check the app store for possible solutions. I find Appshopper.com is a good site to search for apps.
