I am trying to make some business cards in the program provided and when I copy it starts thinking and working and then stops.
This cause me to wait and then have to do the hole process over agin with the same happening the next time.

To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.

#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Hello. On my MacBook Air late 2013 model I am having a problem with Microsoft office word for Mac where the window for the document becomes all gray and I can not see anything that I have typed or any menus for it and also windows will sometimes dissapear and I am having truble getting them back. If anyone has anyideas of what is going on or could even help me thank you.

As time goes by (months or years), keep your eyes on how long Microsoft continues to support Office 2011 for Mac. Eventually you should consider Office 365 or Apple's Pages, Numbers, and Keynote. -

I downloaded updates for "Office for Mac" a few days ago and it won't finish. It keeps saying I have to close Safari, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Powerpoint and I don't have any of these open. Can anybody help me?

Did you do this through one of the Office app updates, or did you download it directly from the Microsoft website?
Whichever way you tried it, I would try it the opposite way this time, although simply repeating what you did before may also work. -

I have Word 2011 on Mac 10.6.8. I write my papers and save them as .docx I submit them to my school online but every time My professor opens them he says the margins are set wrong. He said to save them as a Word-Pc format. How do I do this? Do I save it as RTF or as PDF? He has to be able to make comments on the paper after along the right side. I can not ask him to download anything t make it easier for me. I should be the one doing it correctly. I just do not know how. Can you please tell me how I should be saving my papers so that they do not change format when he opens them on his PC?
And I do recheck and open and repen my paper to check and recheck my margins before I submit it and all is fine on my end.

I've been reading thru the discussions and yet to find a clear answer on how to transfer files from my external HD to time capsule.
If it is directly connected to your Mac via USB or FireWire, Time Machine will include it in the backup.
...but is it difficult to point the library to the music file on the Time Capsule?

I'm not sure if I'm asking this question in the right place.
While working in Word on Mac, the file just locks while working in the file. Once the file locks, no edits can be made and I have to copy and paste it into a new file. Has anyone else had this issue? Is there anyway to fix it?

I am creating a drop down list using a combo box in the Developer tab. Once I protect my document I want the field to remain empty and not show any of the items on my drop down list. Is there a way to do this? Currently it shows one of the items on my list.

Word 2011 for Mac, Word has encountered a problem and needs to close
When I open word a lot of previously closed word documents open. Flashing up about twenty different documents before I can open a new document. Also when I try to close them Word shut down, 'Stating Word has encountered a problem and needs to close".

First you should know that this is not a Mac forum. It is for PC IT types. How's that acronym jargon? It doesn't help much with clear communication does it? :-) (Windows Information Technology Professionals... not end users). The correct forum for you is

With that said, I'm bilingual in PC and Mac environments so I will try to help. Try this:
In Apple's System Preferences>General make sure this checkbox is marked:
Quit Word completely... remember quitting is not closing on a Mac. You must "Quit" the application.
Hold down the Shift Key and then start Word. Keep holding the Shift key until Word fully opens. Once it is open if any of those old documents appear in the Recovery task pane, now close them.
Quit Word and if prompted about reopening any documents, respond No.

I have Word 2011 on a Mac Book Pro and have had problems with a dissapearing cursor - it makes editing tricky
After googling it I found out that there is a bug where the Mac loses focus if you click away from the document - it also does this with italics according to other users.
I had a play with it and found out that when I click on the toolbar in a document where this happens, the cursor disappears, e.g. changing font colour etc. And then, when I click on Format - Font - Cancel it returns

thanksBTW (speaking as a Dad of 3 daughters in Grad school) if you don't already have and use a DropBox account, or some other similar online "cloud" based backup of your school documents, you should start doing so immediately. By keeping all of your important documents in the Dropbox folder on your computer, you have instant access to them from any other computer (or iPad), should you be w/o your computer while in for repairs (or if, God forbid, it is stolen). It's free for 2 GB of online storage, which is more than enough for a few years worth of Word documents, etc. (If you get other people to sign up via your email "invitation", then Dropbox gives you even more free storage space.) Every time you close a document, it is updated on the Dropbox servers (encrypted), if it is in the Dropbox folder (assuming you give it a few seconds to update before turning off your computer). Do a google search of "Cloud based storage comparisons" to compare the amount of free space each of the competing services give you.

I'm a new Mac user. I've been using Microsoft Word 2004 for Mac's "Notebook" feature to take notes and record the audio for my class lectures. In the last week, my MacBook has locked-up three times when trying to stop the audio recording at the end of the lecture. Twice, I was able to recover the text, but not the audio. This morning, I was only able to recover part of the text. This morning, for the first time, it also locked up while recording and I lost both text and audio. It has typically locked-up as soon as I press "stop."
Could I be doing something wrong?
