Word help- different first page header

How do can I make the text in the header on the first page of my word document, different from the information on the rest of the headers. I am using APA formatting for my school paper.

Hi,
It only works well if the generated document contains more than 1 page.
Otherwise the last page is "stronger" so the second page header will be displayed.
I have seen a lots of questions about this problem but I could not file correct answer.
Please help me.

Pages 5.5 different first page template

Hello,
In Pages 4.3 I was able to create a template with different first page header and footer (just create 2 page document, manage headers and footers, then delete body text and save as template).
Well, in Pages 5.5 I have problem with that. OK, it is possible to create different first page with different header and footer, BUT how to save blank, one page document with predefined headers and footers, and to save as template, just like in ver. 4.3?

I don't know if you can achieve what you want in Pages v5, and if you could, what would the time to solution cost? As Pages ’09 v4.3 works nicely on Yosemite, I would use that version, and dually future-proof with exports to MS Word format. Have a good backup strategy.
Countless people, either new to Pages, expecting MS Word, or Pages ’09 functionality, have lost years of productivity trying to make Pages v5 into a majestic bird, when it was designed as pork.
Pages v5 and later (5.5) is a simple subtraction problem. As a brand new application in Oct 2013, Apple added everything, but Pages ’09 functionality. They have consistently kept it that way, including the 5.5 update for Yosemite, whose document architecture is not backwards compatible with Pages v5.2.2 on Mavericks.
If you accidentally/deliberately opened a Pages ’09 document in Pages v5, it will silently remove what it does not support, and then autosave the translated document, making it incompatible with Pages ’09. Some Pages ’09 templates, and the ability to sustain their layout, are gone in Pages 5.

Different first page from another

Hi All,
I am creating one report using RTF format and want to show some data on the header area except first page. I tried MS word functionality (Page setup -> layout-different first page), it works fine using XML desktop but when i load this report into application and try to run this report. Report shows header area for all pages including first page.
Can any one tell me that how we can show header area except first page of report?

Hi Ravi
You might have a mismatch btw your server version and desktop version. Run the report to PDF on both platforms and check the document properties, under the Created by entry it will say XMLP Version X.X.X. Ensure the server version is the same or higher than the desktop version

Pages for iPad--different first page

I haven't been able to find a way in Pages for iPad to create a different first page for headers and footers. Is it possible?

So I'm really glad I found this conversation and I think I can help at least to find a temporary solution until Apple fixes this issue with pages for iPad. I had the same question and it seems that, in general, those of us that are upset with the lack of this feature are trying to abide by the APA guidelines for running headers. What I did is I went onto pages on my iMac desktop and created a template document with the headers set up in APA format. From there I retrieved the document on the iPad through dropbox (or icloud) and the change was made. Now, everytime I go to write something in APA on pages for the iPad I start with this template and I don't have to worry about setting up the headers as they are ready to go. I am recommending this because not only does it serve as an easy starting point for writer's in APA fields, it also guarantees that an authors work is consistent in its formating and style. No longer will you have to struggle with the subtle nuances of document design. Just make a template!

Different first page

I should have different first page for different users. How can i redirect after login and authentication (this is custom authentication method) ? My environment is HTMLDB 6, 10G and Windows.

What you want can be done by inserting a Layout
Break, and then changing the settings appropriately
in the Layout Inspector. If you need to do this on a
regular basis, you might want to look at the Pages
documentation on how to set up a template.
I faced a similar problem, but found a somewhat different solution. I was formatting a letter that required a different TOP margin for the first page because of letterhead. (Second and subsequent pages required a smaller TOP margin.) Here's what I did:
First, I set the MARGINS of the entire document in accordance with the requirements for the second and subsequent pages. Then, rather than inserting a layout break, I inserted a SECTION BREAK at the end of the first page. I then opened the LAYOUT INSPECTOR and selected the LAYOUT button. Then, I set the LAYOUT MARGINS-BEFORE for the first section to 2.5, which was the margin size I needed on the first page.

I don't think that iBooks offers animation for page turning pdfs. But all iOS devices use gestures for turning pages etc.
iBooks in Mavericks is turning out to be as big a pain as iWork in Maverick.

Help - Print first page from different tray

Hi,
I print seveal booklets and with my old printer (1200) was able to print the first page from the second tray. That is to have the cover page in a different color and weight paper.
How do I do this with collated printing with my new Officejet 8500 Pro all in one printer. The option does not appear in the print options as it did for the driver for for the old 1200 printer.
I am currently using Vista is this option available with windows 7.
I will be glad for any help you can give me.

Word Proc. Template. Different first page?

I created a simple WP stationary template with my address at the top of page one. The problem is that if the text goes to subsequent pages each such page also has my name and address at the top. I cannot figure out how to keep my name and address off the top of the subsequent pages.
Any suggestions?

Try this.
On the second page of your document, place the cursor in the header.
Type the text you want to enter.
You will then have an option to start a new header.
If you don't see the option, select another section of the header, and it should appear. (Like below.)
Then edit the header on the first page.

which requires inserting a label box at the top of the last page.
it is not possible to set a particuler header item to print 'ONLY' at the ending page.
Somehow the report seems not allowing dynamic format changes pass beg. of report.

Hi James,
It is sometimes tough to see to it that you anchor it "exactly" to the repeating frame. I tried it myself and could only do it after a few attempts. What happens is, if your repeating frame shares its boundary with another frame/field etc, sometimes it becomes difficult for the Reports Builder to find out which frame / repeating frame is the anchor tied to.
Pl try this once:
Separate your repating frame from all other frames/fields etc, such that its boundary (where you are going to place the anchor) is not touching the boundary of any other frame/field. Do the same for the label box as well. Only then place the anchor between the label box and the repeating frame.
You should now see the correct result. Hope that helps.

Help with my Page Header

OK, I am a complete newbee to Dreamweaver. I just bought DW
MX 2004 and am trying to create a simple website. The header of the
main index page will simply be my name at the top with a line
underneath my name that stretches across the entire page, then
underneath the line I want some links like "main" , "galleries" ,
"links" , "about" ...etc. I want the header to look something like
this...

So, here are some specific questions...
1. Should I use a table to create this?
2. How do I draw the line?
3. Should I use simple html text for the links or create

Tables are not deprecated. But they are not considered
optimal for page
layout, especially given the many reasons one would want to
separate

It sounds like you are suggesting that the op use the invalid
(IE
proprietary) table bordercolor attribute for this. The better
answer would
be to give the table a colored top border using CSS.

Header in .rtf template should not come on the first page?

I developed a custom AR statements report, in the report I to print repeatedly from the second page ( it shouldn't come on the first page header), how can I do this.

you can use different page header and footer have develope the report in 2 pages or only one page .
if you develope the report in 2 pages
in the first page remove header and use different first page header property in word and paste the header in second page.

Multiple sections, each section different first/next page headers

Hi,
Ï'm developing a PO (purchase order)-document.
This document has 2 sections.
First sections contains PO-documents. Second section contains PO-copies.
First section has different header for first page and next pages for each seperate PO. So multiple PO's are printed and page 1 of each PO has different header than page 2 of same PO. This works fine.
For the copies I added a new section which is basically the same as the first except the fact that the first page and next page headers for the PO-copies contain the word "DUPLICAAT".
Section 1 still works fine.
However in section 2 all pages of each PO, including the first page, get the next-page header. The first page of a PO in section 2 does NOT get the different first page header.
Just to get it working I created a very simple rtf with 2 sections and 2 pages for each section. For each section I appointed a different header for the first page and the second page. The rtf contains only fixed text, no xml-tags. In MS-Word the rtf-template looks fine, each page has the expected header. I loaded any XML-file and viewed the PDF-output. Result: first page of section 2 has the next-page header for section 2 instead of the first-page header.
Is this a bug or am I doing things in the wrong way ?
I can upload the testing template if necessary.

Hi
I am trying to display Continue on first page and middle pages and Total Amount on last page on a multipage PO. I can display different footer page for first page and last page but the middle pages don't have a footer. How to do this if possible. There are so many threads here but not one gives the exact steps.

Add Section Break => Next Page
